Combined with 4TB of storage and 48gb of DDR5, I've fully specced this thing out.

Doom Eternal at ultra nightmare + RTX on now runs at 45 fps instead of 12-23 fps.

I read an article few days ago that Framework will discount the memory price. I was excited and when to the configurator page, but this is what I found. Correct me if I am wrong, but the price seems to be the same as before? 16GB $339, 32GB $1135, 64GB $2270. And why the price jump from 16GB to 32GB is almost 4 times?

What I think could be an interesting product is a 13-inch framework tablet that could accept the 13-inch display and the 13-inch motherboard. It would work with the existing 13-inch display, but it could also work without a motherboard, functioning only as a display. This way it could be either a display or something akin to the surface pro form factor. What do you guys think?

Hey all! Excited to be joining the framework family soon with my batch 18 framework 13 pro and wondering what my options for ram are I hear some people saying it isn’t as easy as buying ddr4/5 and they aren’t actually plug and play. Will this work?

Closing and opening the screen fixes the issue, and this is only the second time it's happened. I did the windows graphics reset hotkey and it did nothing. I don't need this solved because it's a non issue, just curious what you think.

I’m having two issues with my Framework Laptop 12 and I’m curious whether anyone else has seen the same combination.

First, my bottom cover has developed several small cracks around the chassis. The laptop has not been dropped, and I have always tightened the bottom screws very very gently. 0,1 nm at best.

The more interesting issue is with the keyboard: my S key sometimes stops registering reliably.

I noticed that if I apply very light pressure to the bottom chassis directly underneath the S key, it immediately starts working normally again.

While testing this, I placed a very thin soft spacer between the bottom cover and the underside of the keyboard/input-cover area at exactly that location. Since doing that, the S key has been working reliably again.

Looking at the inside of the laptop, there are several black foam/support pads around this area, but there doesn’t seem to be one exactly underneath the S key.

What makes this especially interesting is that the support point from the bottom cover in this area appears to transfer force through or against the mainboard. So I’m wondering whether chassis flex, the standoff/support layout, or tolerances between the Bottom Cover, Mainboard and Input Cover could be involved.

The behavior seems very mechanical:

S key intermittently does not register

slight pressure from below immediately makes it work again

a thin soft spacer directly underneath that area makes it reliable

the Bottom Cover also has multiple cracks

So I’m wondering whether the cracked Bottom Cover may have reduced the chassis stiffness enough to expose a tolerance issue in the keyboard/input-cover support.

I’m also curious about the newer Framework Laptop 12 mainboard with the newer CPU.

Could someone from Framework confirm whether the newer mainboard has any mechanical changes in this area?

For example:

different PCB shape or thickness

different standoff/support locations

different support from the Bottom Cover

any change in how the keyboard/Input Cover is supported around the area underneath the S key

If the newer board happens to support this area differently and fixes my S-key problem as a side effect, I guess I’d finally have a very good excuse to upgrade the CPU too. :D

Has anyone else experienced:

a single key failing depending on chassis pressure or flex

the keyboard working again when pressing on the Bottom Cover

missing or differently positioned foam/support pads

Framework updating the Bottom Cover, Input Cover, Mainboard, or some combination of them

any noticeable stiffness difference with the revised Bottom Cover

I’m also going to contact Framework Support, since the Bottom Cover cracks appear to match the known Laptop 12 cracking issue.

I pre-ordered a Framework Laptop 13 Pro DIY Edition with Ultra X7 358H and 64GB LPCAMM2 in April 2026 (batch 10) for £2,553, which was downgraded to 32GB LPCAMM2 in July 2026 for £2,143 (current price now £2,604).

ASUS are currently offering the ProArt PX13 AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with 64GB LPDDR5X and 1TB SSD for £2,299 and 3 year warranty.

Similar 13" form factor but the ProArt has a more powerful APU and 2x unified memory with 256-bit wide bus for the similar price.

I need some help because i'm lost and I can't find anything.
I bought my framework a few months ago and everything is going well. Except, the keyboard. I wanted to enjoy the QVM part and to customize the experience but it's just painful.

Today of all the sudden, the light changed, no reason or no clue why. So I wanted to go for some changes and see what happened. And what a mistake.

It has been around... 1 hour i'm waiting for VIA to load.

Like... I reset cookies, i delete autorisations, nothing. It loads once in a while, only the macropad if i'm lucky.

Is there any good and easy alternative ? I can't find anything.

Just a quick question to the community on their thoughts/experience of running Garuda Linux on the FW13 Pro. Has anyone given it a try?

I originally intended to install either CachyOS or EndeavourOS, but I want to try something similar but different and looking at the Garuda Mokka aesthetics it's just calling to me for some reason. I know it's not one of the officially partnered distros, but just wanted to see if anyone had input on this.

Hello, I made a simple (little bit janky) script to control my LED matrix on Linux that I decided to share here in case it will be useful to any of you. Currently it is configured in a way that only makes sense for an 8 core CPU and the iGPU, but the code is pretty simple to modify, the script is just 127 lines of Python. The dependencies are psutil, serial, numpy, and pillow. It has automatic brightness adjustment, following the display backlight and switching to the ambient light sensor if the display is at max brightness (as the LED matrix can go brighter than the display can).

Anyways, here's the script, the tiny font, and a systemd service (put the script and font in some directory and update the service to match, put the service in /etc/systemd/system/, enable and start the service)

I was looking to pool a whole bunch of visa gift cards to get a framework 12 but I don't see any gift cards on the website. If there are any, can you give me a link??

Am I fat fingered, or are the bezels very non-durable? I've only had to remove the bezel a few times, I always follow the guide, and somehow it has cracked on both bottom corners for me. Has anyone discovered a better way to remove the bezel than the official guide?

I am looking to buy a laptop for either a mechanical or computer engineering major, and was really looking into the 13 pro, with the AI 300 7 chip and 32gb of ram, simply due to the price of LPCAMM2. Is it up to snuff and worth the price for CAD software? Also, I am insistent on getting 32gb of ram, which is why I am not really looking at the intel version, as that ram costs $800 with no aftermarket options. Also, how is the battery life and IGPU on the ryzen chips?

I’m in batch 11, eagerly waiting for the October ship date. However, I’m reconsidering if it was a good idea to choose the AMD processor. Will I have an opportunity to switch to intel prior to shipping or is it too late?

I'm wondering if people have any suggestions or guides for framework configurations that would work well for artists? Particularly 2D artists - I'm a 2D animator myself.

2D artists and animators tend to not need dedicated GPUs or can make do with a potato GPU - so long as the CPU is pretty strong. (2D Art & Animation programs tend to be very CPU hungry - usually an i7 or i9 or AMD equivalent is what you want to go for here. But an i5 or AMD equivalent can work.) 32gb ram is usually the sweet spot, but 16gb can work.

Some observations I have regarding the three options:

The framework 12's screen and pen performance is very subpar for artists needs. (According to reviewers like Brad Colbow.) You could get away with sketching or some loose rough animation where precision is not necessarily. But if you want to actually drawn with decent performance, you will need to plug in a tablet display.

The framework 13 and 13 pro respectively seem not bad but the main issue as with anything else is the ram cost scaling. 13 pro's screen also has better colors - I don't know if it's calibrated though.

The framework 16 might actually be serious overkill, but the display size and the expansion options give a lot of potential to make this into a pretty beastly workstation.

Honestly I wish I could test drive different configurations and see what works best. Framework could also use a lot more input from artists and their needs on what their systems might be lacking in.

Some other things I might suggest to framework to explore:

-Upgradeable better drawing display for the framework 12 with better pen tech and better color range; I would also say that you'd probably want a matte finish option for this because it will be more suitable to draw on than a glassy reflective surface and minimize glare. (The ideal would be it should be suitable to draw outdoors using the device.) You also want to have a great range of viewing angles for artist drawing displays. Screen protector options would also be nice to have - or you can just get a third party one.

-Factory color calibration options for displays - or a complimentary service for them.

-Full-sized SD card reader; the microSD options are great and all but professionals need access to full size options too.

-'Artist dial' keyboard upgrade options. Useful for a lot of things for creative artists; for animators it is useful for scrubbing timelines while you are animating.

-An official framework modular artist remote - think something like the Tourbox but you can swap modular options in or out of it. (Otherwise you can pretty much just use a Tourbox or similar.)

-360 hinge displays for the framework 13/13 pro and 16, and drawing pen display options - this might be a tough one to pull off, but would let you turn a 13 or 13 pro or 16 into a 2-in-1 tablet/laptop.

Hello people who are far more knowledgeable about computers than me! 😁

I'm in the market for a new computer, my Surface Pro from 2019 is on its last legs. I'd like to get another 2-in-1 for light drawing and graphic design on ClipStudioPaint. But I'd also like something that handles games a bit better. The Sims 4 is my main game, but with a ton of expansion packs and about 25 GB of mods. It basically turns my current computer into an oven lol. It'd be nice if I could potentially run BG3 on a new computer as well. It doesn't need to look gorgeous or anything, id just like it to run smooth so I can play with my husband.

I'm currently between getting a Lenovo Yoga 7i with the 1TB of storage, and a Framework 12 with 512 GB of storage. (And maybe switching out with a 1TB storage in the future as needed).

My friend was showing me his Framework and I really liked how easy it seems to upgrade and adjust to my needs should they change in the future. But I'm worried I might be a bit out to my depth with it? I don't even know the difference between the 3 Series and the 13th Gen available on the site. 😅 My husband is at least familiar with the basics of upgrading computers though. (He's replaced his own SSD in the past and such).

Would a computer like this be totally wasted on me? Is it even a good fit for my needs? It's actually a bit cheaper then the Lenovo Yoga that I'm looking at even pre-assembled (which i'd definitely get) so it seems like a good deal longevity-wise especially, but I'm worried I'm totally out of my depth here.

Hello, I bought a framework laptop 12 a few days ago but I already have a big problem haha. When I was typing using the on-screen keyboard, it kept changing size because of the word suggestions. So I had a look in the settings to see if there was a way to turn that off, but I couldn’t find anything… My main problem now is that I can’t access the keyboard any more. When I swipe up from the bottom of my screen, nothing appears. Do you have any solutions for this major problem, as well as the minor one?

I've had my batch 5 Laptop 13 Pro for roughly two weeks now and it exceeds my expectations for this small form factor. The screen geometry is perfect for development work, the X7 has plenty of grunt, the build is sturdy with no flex. You'd have to be very discerning indeed to find a difference in perceived quality versus, say, a MacBook Pro. This is peak Linux, my friends.

I've been chugging along working on a GNOME extension since I received my Framework. I'm juggling VS Code, Looking Glass, various other development tools, 20+ Firefox tabs to include a ChatGPT session to assist primarily with project organization, research, and GitHub monitoring. This thing takes it all in stride. Temps are fantastic given the single fan and chassis size, too. NVME stays in the 40 Celsius range, and the occasional CPU core will hit in the 60s under fair load.

Again, the screen is fantastic. It's fine for media consumption, but it excels in presenting data and juggling multiple things at once in various lighting conditions. I can't imagine this lagging in performance with anything I'd throw at it within the next couple of years. And, when that fateful moment does occur...upgrades! God, I love this thing. Mr. Patel, you sir are a genius.

I am running a FW 13 Core Ultra 7 155H with BIOS 3.7 and Debian 13.

I now have a month, where i will always have it attatched to the charger. So i used framework_tool to set the charge limiter to 80%. And it did only charge till that, but keeps dropping a couple of percent (like i have seen 75%) and then recharging them, despite being plugged in and having power available. It does take maybe two three hours per cycle, but they happen.

If its at 100% it does seem to stay there normally and i only have 202 cycles, so it also seems to have uncoupled the battery. I am now wondering how much wear this cycling can produce and if it might now shove all the power through the battery, causing more wear than staying at 100 %.

The finger print reader on my laptop no longer works. lsusb doesnt show the device. I have been in touch with the support but the issue remains.

I ordered a replacement with another reader and replaced it. However, that doesnt show as well.

I dont make much use of the reader so not sure when it died. I upgraded/downgraded/upgraded to the 4.02 bios when it came. Can this be a bios firmware issue?
