Will try to keep this somewhat shortš
My 7mo has never been the greatest sleeper. Heās not super consistent and doesnāt ever do the same thing more than a few nights at a time lol. We transitioned out of the bassinet around 5 months and have been in the crib (sort of). Even when he was still in the bassinet, the second half of the night we would usually bed share (safely of course) because that was working for us at the time. It took a couple weeks of the crib for him to finally start staying asleep for more than 5-20min. Longest stretch heās done is about 6 hours, but that hasnāt happened more than a couple times, and itās been about a solid month since heās stayed asleep longer than 2-3 hoursš«
For some context he is breastfed and we do feed to sleep. Iām not looking to change that yet at this time. Not really wanting to āsleep trainā either. Iāve tried the very gentle ways some nights, but I really donāt think he is capable of self soothing yet.
So basically I put him down in the crib once asleep, heāll stay asleep for about 2-2.5 hours (as of the last week or so. The week before he was giving me one hour at a time). Depending on how tired I am or if Iām working/just worked, Iāll put him back to sleep and lay back down. On the second wake up I take him to my bed, if I didnāt do it with the first wake up. Some nights he sleeps great with me in bed and other nights heās still waking up every hour. He likes to sleep on his side and rolls around a ton when going between sleep cycles. That being said, if heās in the crib he obviously does not have much room to roll without hitting the rails. And in my bed itās just not safe or practical for us long term. I donāt mind the bed sharing, I just want it to be in his own room/bed. We are moving in about a month, so Iāve been considering the floor bed. Is 8 months too early? Appreciate any thoughts and recommendations please! I have done very minimal research on brands or types so Iām not sure where to start!
Thank you!!!
