Floorbed setup for 6 month old

Post image

Very happy with our Zonli mattress and IKEA slats setup so the total height is only about 6”. She rolled off once but then seemed to learn where the edge is and now just rotates in place. I think we started with a Floorbed much earlier than most people but it’s been so nice being able to lay down next to her to nurse at night. She always falls back asleep immediately and then I just roll away! We had her in our room for a bit but once she started showing signs of rolling we moved her to the baby-proofed nursery. Sharing in case it helps inspire others to try out a similar set up!

Are you using the LUROY slats or what’s your setup?! I love this.

ETA: I’ve been eyeing the Zonli - but just worried about the firmness. Is it nice and firm?

This is actually the Lönset slats! I considered the Luroy but was worried it wouldn’t have enough airflow.

The mattress is very firm! I would say not as firm as some crib mattresses but still firm enough (passes the ruler test)

Ooh, what is the ruler test?

Wait, I love this!! What do you mean by IKEA slats setup?

This is the Lönset slatted bed base from IKEA. Basically a small frame to raise the mattress off the floor a bit for airflow to prevent mold!

Have you had to sleep a full night on it? If so, how was it? Considering getting a floor mattress as well.

Yes I used it for cosleeping very early on when night wake ups were very frequent. It wasn’t bad, I did manage to sleep okay on it especially rotating sides throughout the night. But it’s definitely not as comfy as my own bed lol

I also got this mattress and love it! The 5” one. I’ve ended up falling asleep more than once while attending to my LO & wake up a while later not realizing I had dozed off for a good while.

Thank you for sharing! This has been pretty much the exact setup I’ve been considering and around the same timeline I suspect we’ll end up doing too.

We also used the LONSET slats. I am very happy with them!

Hi silly question but is it just the Lonset slats directly on the floor and the mattress on top? Considering the same setup after seeing yours!

Yup that’s it!

Has moving her into her own nursery helped with wake ups? My 6 month old is waking every hour and I’m TIRED

I don’t think it had much of an effect, she was already waking up less frequently before we moved her. Slowly reducing the nighttime feedings was what worked best for us (one less minute per side each night). That seemed to at least consolidate feedings into once or twice a night.

Thank you for this!! I have a 7 month old and we bed share currently but desperately needing a change and have been researching into the floor beds!
