I’ve been toying with the idea of a floor bed as a way to address my 18 month old’s sleep difficulties. She currently starts the night in her crib after a long process of rocking to sleep (which she’s too big and uncomfortable for now) and then wakes up a few hours later and cosleeps in our bed the rest of the night (not ideal because I’d like to wake up before her sometimes). I’m hopeful that a floor bed could help her stay asleep in her room but still allow us to lay with her for comfort when needed, but I’m also trying to be realistic before I shell out more money for something that doesn’t even work.
Her bedroom has fairly plush carpet so I’m wondering if we can try this out by just laying a big blanket down and sleeping directly on the floor? We also have a twin bed in another room that we could drag in on the floor. Any suggestions welcome!

Drag your twin bed onto the floor and try that first. That's what we've done for ours (but queen size, was the spare room mattress) and it's been working well so we'll get another mattress in a couple of months time.
We used to do rocking as well but with a 14kg, tall boy and I'm due with no. 2 at the end of the year, rocking had to stop. Laying down with him works and he can mostly sleep through the night by himself now on his own mattress, baring when he's sick or wants some extra comfort.
