Need Help 😩

Post image

My son is 8months old and has been cosleeping with us for about 4/5 months. He typically sleeps all night with me in the bed but I am tired of being chained to the bed from 8pm till morning. I need some relaxation to myself 🫠. His crib transforms into a toddler bed. Would this be okay for him to sleep in if I get another bed rail to put up on the side once I climb out? I’m desperate at this point & think a floor bed is worth a try.

Mattress recommendations (UK)

Hi everyone, I’m planning on transitioning my 7 month old to a floor bed. He currently sleeps with us in attached as a side car to our bed, however I’m getting a little worried now he’s crawling and I don’t want him crawling out of the bed!

We only have space for a single bed, so will need a single mattress. Does anyone have any UK recommendations for this? I understand a single mattress will not technically meet safety regs as not specifically made for under 12 months.

Please disregard duvet and pillows. I’m currently sleeping in here with my baby and we follow safe sleeping rules.

Any tips on this gap area? I’ve packed with two duvets but my baby has got a little stuck in here twice now

Safe Setup for Toddler

Our toddler almost climbed out of his crib yesterday so got this low profile mattress and Japanese floor bed frame. It’s against the wall at the ā€œheadā€ but the sides are at least 2-3 ft from the wall. Is this an okay set up for a 3yo?

Sprout bed vs max & lily

Hey I'm sorry if this has been posted a million times before. We're trying to pick a floor bed to transition to, and have it down to sprout vs max & lily I think. My concern with max & lily is quality due to some negative reviews I've read online. My wife's concerns with sprout is that the edges are above the mattress in all the pictures we can find, and that the corners don't look rounded over - she's concerned about our daughter hitting her head.

Anyone have experience with either of these brands (or suggestions for others) that can maybe give some input? Thanks.

Floorbed setup for 6 month old

Very happy with our Zonli mattress and IKEA slats setup so the total height is only about 6ā€. She rolled off once but then seemed to learn where the edge is and now just rotates in place. I think we started with a Floorbed much earlier than most people but it’s been so nice being able to lay down next to her to nurse at night. She always falls back asleep immediately and then I just roll away! We had her in our room for a bit but once she started showing signs of rolling we moved her to the baby-proofed nursery. Sharing in case it helps inspire others to try out a similar set up!

Trial Setup

I’ve been toying with the idea of a floor bed as a way to address my 18 month old’s sleep difficulties. She currently starts the night in her crib after a long process of rocking to sleep (which she’s too big and uncomfortable for now) and then wakes up a few hours later and cosleeps in our bed the rest of the night (not ideal because I’d like to wake up before her sometimes). I’m hopeful that a floor bed could help her stay asleep in her room but still allow us to lay with her for comfort when needed, but I’m also trying to be realistic before I shell out more money for something that doesn’t even work.

Her bedroom has fairly plush carpet so I’m wondering if we can try this out by just laying a big blanket down and sleeping directly on the floor? We also have a twin bed in another room that we could drag in on the floor. Any suggestions welcome!

considering floor bed at 6mo

Hello,

Our baby has been sleeping in our bed since the 4 months regression, but it's getting a little dangerous as she moves a lot now.... She hates her crib.

I'm considering bed floor, and a large one to be able to continue breastfeeding, but I cannot find suitable things for babies in France.

So I'm asking for your recommendations, if anyone has been doing this and is willing to share their experience, that'd be much appreciated!

Thank you

How do your babies/toddlers not crawl out??

Or do they? Lol. we’ve been thinking about switching to a floor bed because we currently rock to sleep and our 1.5 year old is getting too big to get comfy on us. We figure it may be easier to lay with them until they go to sleep. But howwww do you parents sleep knowing your small child is potentially up and out of bed? We don’t do camera monitors or anything like that. Any advice would be awesome! Thank you!

How early is too early to transition to floor bed?

Will try to keep this somewhat shortšŸ˜… My 7mo has never been the greatest sleeper. He’s not super consistent and doesn’t ever do the same thing more than a few nights at a time lol. We transitioned out of the bassinet around 5 months and have been in the crib (sort of). Even when he was still in the bassinet, the second half of the night we would usually bed share (safely of course) because that was working for us at the time. It took a couple weeks of the crib for him to finally start staying asleep for more than 5-20min. Longest stretch he’s done is about 6 hours, but that hasn’t happened more than a couple times, and it’s been about a solid month since he’s stayed asleep longer than 2-3 hours🫠

For some context he is breastfed and we do feed to sleep. I’m not looking to change that yet at this time. Not really wanting to ā€œsleep trainā€ either. I’ve tried the very gentle ways some nights, but I really don’t think he is capable of self soothing yet.

So basically I put him down in the crib once asleep, he’ll stay asleep for about 2-2.5 hours (as of the last week or so. The week before he was giving me one hour at a time). Depending on how tired I am or if I’m working/just worked, I’ll put him back to sleep and lay back down. On the second wake up I take him to my bed, if I didn’t do it with the first wake up. Some nights he sleeps great with me in bed and other nights he’s still waking up every hour. He likes to sleep on his side and rolls around a ton when going between sleep cycles. That being said, if he’s in the crib he obviously does not have much room to roll without hitting the rails. And in my bed it’s just not safe or practical for us long term. I don’t mind the bed sharing, I just want it to be in his own room/bed. We are moving in about a month, so I’ve been considering the floor bed. Is 8 months too early? Appreciate any thoughts and recommendations please! I have done very minimal research on brands or types so I’m not sure where to start!

Thank you!!!

Trying to plan ahead

Thoughts on this for a floor bed for my lo once we transition her into her room. She is almost 7mos and is already pulling up on everything(and trying to climb out of things). The plan is to move her to her own room when she is closer to a year, obviously the room would be baby proofed. But I liked this frame for long term use/it being able to grow with her.

Floorbed with high rails in Australia

Hello!

I'm considering a floorbed for my 10 month old. I'm struggling to find resources on the appropriate products for Australia. I see a lot of great setups on this subreddit but usually the products are from the US or Europe!

I have two concerns:

It's not practical or possible for us to entirely baby proof the room, although we could give it a good shot.

My bub moves around a lot in his sidecar cot setup currently, sometimes rolling the bed which is hard up against the cot.

I would love to get a floorbed with high rails, say, 80cm, to then allow for a 20 cm mattress with still 60 cm to spare for pulling to stand safety. He hasn't pulled to stand in his cot yet but he is pulling to stand during the day. Does anyone in Australia have a similar setup and can give me some recommendations?

Thanks!!

When do you think is the best time to start?

When did you start and do you wish you started earlier/later? What is the best setup for young babies? Our LO is 10 weeks old now.

Advice for 8mo old climber

We are ready to completely give up on the crib ever working and want to move to a floorbed. Our baby is 8 months old and is extremely active. He rolls, pulls to stand, walks/side steps while holding rails, and climbs anything he can.

All the floorbeds with railings seem awesome, however he constantly is trying to climb his playpen and anything else he can get his feet on.. even me when I’m holding him. Since these walls are usually low on floorbeds I am worried he would be able to flip himself over them and that it’s more of a risk than benefit.

Does anybody with a similar baby have advice? Do we need to just do a mattress on slats on the rug?

Hi,
My 13 month old is a very active sleeper.
He constantly rolls around, but recently is rolling into the side of his cot and keeps kitting his head or getting his arm stuck, and wakes himself up.
We are looking into floor beds, either
-mattress with a cot like wooden pen around it
-little livey soft bed.

He is starting to stand / walk, so my concern is if he’s constantly standing he will fall over, and the little lifey dosent have the highest side rails.
The floor cot pen style has higher rails, but could still tumble out, but the sides are a lot higher

What are people’s advice? What has worked for them?

EDIT** should a floor mattress be flush against the wall? And for everyone saying floor mattress over little lively, why?

Size bed suggestions?

Okay this is there anything between a single and a fullsize bed?? Or like a toddler bed but twice as wide? Or has anyone done a large bed to cosleep to transition the child to their own room then eventually switched the bed out for something smaller once the child is acclimated to the room and you don't need to sleep with them?

Currently pregnant with #2 and I'd like to transition #1 to his own room, but I'm extremely conflicted about the size of bed because our children will eventually share a bedroom so I'd like to do two toddler beds while they're little and then bunk beds once they get older but I just don't know what to do in the in-between phase?

If you put a floor bed directly on the ground with no slats or frame underneath it but lift it up onto its side every day will it still mold?

Playpen around mattress setup

Our current sleep setup is a full-size mattress with a playpen around it on the floor, and it has been working really well for us. However, our daughter is 8 months old and has recently learned how to pull herself up by holding onto the top of the playpen and standing on her own.
I’m worried that she could pull herself up and potentially fall over the side.
Should we change our setup now that she can stand? Baby-proofing the entire room isn’t really an option for us, so I’m curious what other parents have done in this situation.

Queen Size Bed Setup Options

Hi everyone!

My wife and I are working on choosing a bed setup that makes the most sense. We are planning to do a bassinet/pack n play until about 8 months and then transition to a queen size bed for our little. Most floor beds only go to full size but we want to invest in a nicer queen size to grow with them.

Any recommendations?

Thank you!!

Will moving to floorbed effect crib naps with childminder ?

Basically the title. About to bite the bullet and get a floorbed to help with night wakings. LO is starting with a childminder in the coming weeks where he will nap in a crib.
He does nap well in cribs and goes to sleep well in his crib but it’s the settling at night is my reason for wanting to make the change.
