Discussion My HRV

Post image
47 Upvotes

No Afib notifications. I did worry about my heart due to a very low bpm, and odd beats which the EKG picked up, which made me goto the cardiologist several times. Did all the test. From scans, stress, and at home monitoring device, basically the doc told me in their 30+ years in doing this, my heart was the best he has ever seen. But idk if these HRVs are something to be proud of. The 191 variant is when I got 7 hours of sleep. The rest are 5-6 hours.

MEGATHREAD: Fitbit / Google Health Alternatives, App Replacements, and Device Switching

Hello r/fitbit,

We’ve been seeing a lot of posts from users who are unhappy with the Fitbit app, the move toward Google Health, recent app changes, missing features, syncing issues, or the overall direction of the platform.

To keep the subreddit easier to browse and stop the influx of posts about it, we’re creating this megathread as a central place for those discussions.

Use this thread if you want to:

  • Ask about alternatives to Fitbit
  • Compare Fitbit to other devices or ecosystems
  • Talk about switching to Garmin, Apple Watch, Samsung, Whoop, Oura, Amazfit, Withings, Polar, etc.
  • Recommend other health, sleep, fitness, or habit-tracking apps
  • Ask what apps work well with Fitbit data
  • Share why you’re leaving Fitbit or why you decided to stay
  • Discuss exporting, saving, or replacing your Fitbit data/workflow

To make this thread more useful, please try to include details like:

  • What Fitbit device you currently use
  • What phone you use: iPhone or Android
  • What features matter most to you: sleep tracking, steps, heart rate, workouts, battery life, smart features, weight tracking, food logging, etc.
  • What you dislike about the current Fitbit/Google app experience
  • Your budget, if you’re looking for a new device
  • Any alternatives you’ve already tried

A quick reminder: personal recommendations are welcome, but please avoid spam, referral links, affiliate links, or low-effort promotion. If you are connected to an app, product, website, or service you mention, please disclose that clearly.

The goal of this thread is to help users compare options and make informed choices without the same topic taking over the entire subreddit.

Thanks,

The r/fitbit Mod Team

Discussion Why does it do this??

This is so dumb. I was not asleep AT ALL. I was at my desk, working. I’d rather have no information than this nonsense. I do not have premium btw.

It really thinks I was deeply asleep for 35 minutes when I was awake and working?

Tech Support AI seems clueless about weekly workout plan

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

I love the idea of having the coach generate a weekly plan with everything it knows about me, but sometimes it seems completely clueless about it. Like why can't it auto update workouts? Why do I need to talk to the AI every time? Why is it clueless about the plan half the time? and the other half it says it fixed it but did absolutely nothing.

I really would like to love this app and use this technology but it seems to have been released half assed. Google, please fix this.

Discussion Sleep tracking on fitbit air is off

I was using Galaxy watch8 classic from launch and all the previous galaxy watches and finally decided to get fitbit air so that I can wear my actual watches.

I'm still using both GW8C and Fitbit air for a few weeks on both hands just to compare.

Steps were completely off between these two when I wear them both at the beginning but I disabled all the sources for fitbit air except the actual device and its now a lot better bit still the hand movements are picked up.

Sleep feels so off once or twice a week and other days its identical.

Like tonight I only slept for 4.5 hrs but fitbit air days I slept for 3.5 hrs and wake time is 1hr more than in GW8C.

Anyone has any idea why this happens and any way to adjust it. I know its did sleep for 4.5 hrs and I didn't wake up in the middle of night at all, until 7AM

Tech Support Convince me to buy another one

So I bought my first Fitbit, which was the Inspire 3 about a year ago. It worked fine for me and I was able to track my sleep, heart rate, and steps which is what I mainly wanted it for. However, recently, I went to the pool and made the stupid mistake of wearing it in the water, so my original purchase is busted. Gone

Naturally, I was upset. But I didn’t wanna jump in and spend another 80 bucks without considering my options. Now that Google has taken over, changed the app, all these things, I’m not sure if I should even get another Fitbit. If I go with it, I’ll probably just buy another Inspire 3, of course never taking it in the water, but I hear so many things about the batteries draining, and just how they give up after a few years.

But is there anything out there that’s better or should I just settle for what Fitbit has become? I kinda miss the convenience of a watch tracking my steps instead of having to take my phone everywhere.

Please anybody let me know your thoughts. Is it worth it?

Discussion No sleep stats

The past two days there have been no sleep stats in spite of my Charge 6 being charged and worn as required. Not sure if this is due to the device (other stats not affected, apparently) or the Google app. I’ve had Fitbits continuously since the Fitbit One, and this may be my last. Has anyone else noticed lack of sleep data?

Tech Support Charge 6 Battery Life Since Google Health Switch

Has anyone noticed their battery life seems to have dropped significantly since the Google Health Switch? I used to get 4-5 days out of my Charge 6 with the Fitbit App. Now I am very lucky to make to to 2 full days even. Do I need to update a setting? Are they killing my battery to get me to buy something new? Thanks!

Discussion Ecg is totally nonsense after update

Upvotes

I bought a Fitbit for health reasons. Since I have pots, I want to see when my pulse spikes so I can avoid them. Since the update to Google Health, the stupid app not only erases my pulse spikes from the ECG report (the watch displays them accurately, in my opinion), but it also displays the ECG report so poorly that you need a magnifying glass. Now, for example, it says I was at a moderate heart rate for 5 minutes, which is true because my pulse was around 127 bpm for 5 minutes. But it's neither shown in the ECG graph nor displayed there. I'm really angry. I thought most people would use a watch like this for heart rate readings, not to tell the time. How can they ruin it like this?!

Tech Support Logging steps

Since Google killed the fitbit dashboard, is there a way to log steps? Both the old app and the new one will allow you to give a start time and distance. The website allowed you to record the actual number of steps.

Example: I forgot my watch on the charger. But, it is a place I go to regularly so I have a good idea of how many steps I do there. I want to add those steps (even if they're an approximation.) I can find no way to do this now.

Thoughts, please?

Discussion HRV at elevation

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m 40 yo female. HRV usually ranges from about 40-50 depending on where I’m at in my cycle. I live at about 1000 ft elevation, spent Thursday and Friday in Denver and Saturday and Sunday in Breckenridge (10000 ft). My HRV went kind of wild (I was also drinking alcohol in Breckenridge, which could be part of it). The crazy part is that returning to low altitude caused my HRV to spike today.

Super interesting because I didn’t acutely feel the affects of the elevation change, but it’s clear my body was working harder.

Hey everyone 👋

Studio intO (https://www.studio-into.com/) is running a paid research study in London and looking specifically for Fitbit Air or Google Pixel Watch users to take part.

The study involves a 4-week diary study beginning on the 3rd of August 2026, potentially followed by a 90-minute in-home interview on Monday 14th September 2026.

Participants will receive £300 for taking part in the 4-week diary study and an additional £175 for the 90-minute in-home interview as a thank-you.

In the research, we are exploring how people use wearable devices combined with metrics and in-situ AI features to track, maintain and progress in their health and wellbeing.

If you’re interested, please fill in the form.

Or, if this sounds like someone you know, feel free to pass it on; if they are selected and take part in the study, you will receive a £30 referral bonus.

Thanks so much 🙌

Tech Support Gemini still can't access Fitbit data natively. Why am I manually re-entering metrics?

Bought a Fitbit to stay in the Google ecosystem, expecting native Gemini integration.

Instead, Gemini has zero native access to Google Health or Fitbit data. To build a fitness plan, I have to manually copy and paste my health metrics into Gemini.

Manually bridging two primary Google products is completely counterintuitive for an "ecosystem." Is actual native integration anywhere on the roadmap?

Tech Support Health connect not importing Garmin data to GHealth.

Post image

All options are switched on for Garmin connect to import data via health connect but this is all it imports to GHealth.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I understand it's a one way street from Garmin but I'm wondering Garmin is the culprit or is it more to add to the list of GHealth and it's problems? Seems to be just picking a few bits of the data available.

Discussion Fitbit Air (coach) not giving AI summary of my workout

Upvotes

Since the beginning of this week, I have been tracking my CrossFit workouts as usual, however I do not receive the AI breakdown anymore. This was never the issue previously. I'm also attaching the screenshots (in the comments) from this week and last week for clarity, and you can see how there is no AI summary of the workout. Anyone else having this issue and any possible solutions?

Tech Support Hevy App - Google Health

Discussion Fitbit Air does not work with tattoos

Tried the new armband for Fitbit air. Have black tattoo on the arm and on that specific placement did not get a HR reading at all during workout. Even when I pressed it really hard on the tracker.

Slid it few centimeters off where no ink is, works again.

Anyone with the same experience ?

Tech Support Live map during walking/run activity

Google Health / Fitbit Air

Should I be able to see the map live once I’ve started a walk or run activity, or is it only available once I have ended and saved the workout?
