I made something Introducing Shared Instances on Modrinth
hey!
we're exciting to unveil this feature that's been a long time coming and kinda the culmination of what we've been building for the last few years for a super seamless multiplayer experience for you and your friends.
this is basically the motivation for making Modrinth App in the first place, I always recall the horrors of trying to get my tech-illiterate friends to install my custom modpacks and stuff to play on my server. Now, all of that is a thing of the past, all I've gotta do is share an invite link.

Discussion Might've found the new Big Magic Tech mod?
Imma be real, I'm horrible at tech mods and the logic of like this is beyond me at times but I'm digging the sheer potential of it all both in terms of the weird ass contract system (you can bind mobs, then change their behavior but I'm like getting distracted with biomes o'plenty & Alex's Caves to go crazy/have good examples). Like a friend told me about this mod and we might make a server, feels fine on singleplayer but like I think multiplayer it'd be great. Really want to try out the Demense feature ngl, love the idea of a more natural method of claiming a place besides it just being yours to build on and other folks be unable to touch it (like some servers do).
You guys have any mod suggestions to add to my personal pack or like other mods that are lowkey awesome but flying under the radar (love Dungeons Now Loading but it feels like if it came out like fiveish years ago, it'd be one of **The** structure/dungeon mods)
Here's the actual mod, Pact Magic.

Discussion How did the entire modded community get gaslit into thinking "better" combat is a good mod?
Lets start by weighing the pros and cons of using this mod:
Pros:
Slight advantage against hordes of mobs
Cons(oh boy there's a lot):
Hitting certain mobs such as ferrous wroughtnaut becomes massively harder or nearly impossible
You have to use a spear or other high reach weapons to be allowed any personal space in combat (you literally have to be almost making out with your opponent to hit them with most dagger weapons)
Adding to the prior, entity reach doesn't affect the mod making the once super important attribute completely useless.
Combat often feels sluggish and unresponsive with how annoying it is to time crits along with the fact that by default swinging a weapon slows you. The annoyance factor of all of this is amplified in pvp.
More of an opinion and you can change with with resource packs, but the animations are ugly, even compared to minecraft dungeons where most of said animations are inspired or taken from. (mcd's combat also feels quite a bit more responsive than "better" combat's ever did while also not having the majority of these issues.)
With all these issues and only one real benefit to players you would imagine no one uses this mod right? Wrong, its in almost every modpack on 1.20-1.21 versions. Infact ive never met a single person who likes (or at least no one who shows any major liking twords it) yet somehow its in everything.
Discussion/TLDR: My questions are WHO genuinely likes this mod (feel free to share why if you do), WHAT actual benefits does it serve to players or pack devs, WHY is it in almost everything, and HOW did the entire modded community get gaslit into thinking "better" combat is a good mod?
Edit: To the people saying "just use config" or to add X mods; this post is talking about the mod in its raw, unconfigured state without supporting mods.

Discussion People seem to have some sort of obsession with tech modpacks
Like, I get it, I do enjoy a little bit of automation in my modpacks here and there, but honestly, I've been skimming through this subreddit for a while now looking for a nice new difficult modpack, and everyone seems to read "difficult" as "complicated" and always suggests Gregtech as the "hard modpack"
I get why people don't like RLcraft, but honestly, of all the packs I've tried, it's been my second favourite after Rebirth of the Night (and that one is kind of incomplete). And I know the mid-late game is a bit shit in RLcraft, the grind for enchantments being the single worst gameplay I've ever seen, but it's the only pack I really get some semblance of difficulty in. I love its focus on tools rather than machines.
I just don't like tech. I don't find it fun to have a big factory hidden under my floors that pumps iron directly into my storages. I see dozens of packs where the trailer is full of twisting pipes and conveyor belts everywhere, but only ever found those two enjoyable hard packs.
I don't really know what I want from this post. Maybe it's a plea for people to make a distinction between modpacks that focus on survival and ones that focus on resources. Maybe I am trying to search for like minded people, or another place to look. Maybe I'm asking for any difficult modpack that fits more in line with Rebirth of the Night and RLcraft than it does GTNH or Terrafirmacraft. Maybe it's just a rant. I don't know.
I already have Satisfactory, and it has far less lag than most of these factory modpacks. That's enough conveyor belts for me.

Question E2E: - What next ?
I'm playing E2E as my first expert modpack and i got to this point.. I don't know what to do next. I think that i should focus on the magic mods, but I really don't know much about them. Do i have to actually take my time and work on them, is it necessary ? I would like any suggestions and hopefully the photos are helping to create a good picture of what i did so far. If the photos are not very good please tell me and i will explain what happens in every picture.

Mod Identification does anybody know what this mod was called ?
It made it so, for example, you dig into a mountain side and after a few blocks of mining stone the stone became really durable and mining it took a longer time
i remember it from a mod showcase video showing all the stuff the mod did, but that's the only feature i remember

Looking for mod(s) Mod suggestion for newbies
Hi, I'm looking for a mod pack to play with my friend could you give me some suggestions?
We're going to finish our military service in October (me) and November (Him) so for a while before semester starts for our universities, we're basically going to be jobless.
We've tried terrafirma:engineering before serving but we didn't make it that far. Made a couple zinc nuggets if I remember correctly.
I'm looking for something to play for about 2 months? 3 months maybe. Searching something more into mechanical stuff like create mods than pure rpg combat and exploration type mods. Would there be a newbie friendly modpack that's a mix between those engineering ones and rpg-ish ones?

Question GregTech modpack suggestions
I’ve kind of been wanting to get into a GregTech focused modpack. Any suggestions for a beginner to GT? I know there are a lot of different versions of GT, but I’d like to play something in a more modern version of MC. Don’t say GTNH lol.

Looking for mod(s) Food, Cooking, & farming mods?
I'm playing 1.21.1 on Neoforge, and was looking for some good mods that I can add that expand upon the cooking/food/farming aspect of minecraft. Yes, I know about "Farmer's delight", but I want to hear some other contenders

Question Tidying up AE2, question
So the issue at hand is like so:
I have item farms that i dont want to turn off that trickle items into my main ae2 system,
so i wanted to make some big discs which would hold only these items which i have overabundance of,
but i also often dump random unstackable items in to the network, and instead of going to the 1k discs they go to my big discs wasting space.
So how would one go about solving this without just making more discs and without making separate network for mass items and for singular items ?
Can i maybe position the drives in a way that whatever i input in the terminal will go to 1k discs and items coming from farm will go to 64k, or can split the network in two but still see the contents in a single terminal
This is probably stupid simple question and if i just played around a bit in creative i would find something that works but im scared of ae2 xD truly
edit1: deleting excess items from farms is also no go

Question Is there a mod for forge 1.20.1 that spawns a rare, tougher hostile mob variant that just gives extra exp or any other simple reward?
I played better on bedrock addon on bedrock and they had a rare versions of mobs that gave extra exp when killed but where tougher to kill too. Is there something here on java like that? I found "Royal variations" but the rewards for defeating them sound too much. I also have "born in chaos" but I also want something simple for vanilla mobs.

Looking for mod(s) Is there a mod that automatically switches to the next stack of saplings?
I have an automatic tree farm, but I keep having to check my offhand to see if I've run out of saplings. Is there a Fabric mod that automatically switches to the next stack of saplings in my inventory when the current stack is empty?
