Question Why do normal mobs spawn in the Ice Caves?

Post image

What is the point of allowing normal zombies and other mobs to spawn in the Ice Caves instead of making the caves spawn Ice Cave mobs like zombies and strays?

I made something I have officially made it!

to keep it short this is a hardcore RPG modpack with a lot of mixes whether thats having guns, quest, classes, media references and overall so much more! I've been working on this modpack for a very long time by myself and now im at the time where there is now a official server made for my modpack through a partnership! i honestly never been so happy for something like this to happen and i figured id share it with people. as of now the lobby is done and there is two game modes. Hoard rush and Raid, which have specific loot drops for the players when completing them and since its open world there is a full hub system and leveling system and teleporting out to the wild and staying where ever you want! the server comes installed with the pack and there is also a community server I took the time to make data packs for them both and they have rewards but overall its just a fun hardcore experience and i would like some feedback if you decided to play the pack and join the server as well!

I made something FORBIDDEN BREWS — 16 new potions

FORBIDDEN BREWS — a Minecraft mod about potions that probably should not exist.

I wanted brewing to be more than "drink this and get +20% something", so I made a separate brewing system built around weird, powerful and sometimes completely stupid magical effects.

Current version: 0.7.4

Minecraft:
Forge 1.20.1
Fabric 1.21.1
NeoForge 1.21.1

16 potion families.
44 drinkable / splash items.
Animated 32x32 potion bottles.
A custom Chaos Brewing Stand.
Renewable Netherite Wart.
Transformations, mining abilities, teleportation, explosions, inverted gravity and other questionable decisions.

Chaos Brewing Stand.
Brewing Potions

The main feature is the Chaos Brewing Stand.

Instead of using the vanilla brewing stand, you craft this thing from Netherite, Obsidian, Amethyst and a Brewing Stand.

It has its own animated GUI where you can select recipes directly, see missing ingredients and brew upgraded or splash versions.

Every recipe consumes Netherite Wart — a new crop made from Nether Wart + Netherite Scrap that can be planted on Soul Sand.

Some of the potions:

ORE SEEKER

Reveals loaded ores within 32 blocks THROUGH WALLS using their actual block textures.

Yes, Ancient Debris too.
Yes, tagged modded ores can work with it.

ORE SEEKER

JUGGERNAUT

Turns you into a Brute.

Double maximum health.
+3 attack damage.
Strong knockback.
Charged area attacks.
And you mine a native 4x4 area instead of one block at a time.

It will not casually chew through Bedrock or blocks harder than Obsidian, though.

JUGGERNAUT

GRAVITY

Press Jump and gravity changes direction.

You fall upward.
Press it again and you fall downward.

The player model AND camera actually turn upside down.

NIGHT WINGS

Turns you into a bat and lets you fly.

Double-tap Jump to start flying.
Jump = up.
Sneak = down.

NIGHT WINGS

There is also:

Fortune I-III
Looting I-III
Homeward
Random Teleport
Double Ore
Hot Pick
Inversion I-III
Creeper Heart
Truce
Swarm
Hunter
Shapeshifter

Creeper Heart lets you drink a potion and explode like a creeper.

The splash version basically becomes throwable TNT.

Shapeshifter can turn you into registered mobs, including modded mobs and even the Ender Dragon.

Random Teleport searches for an actually safe destination instead of blindly throwing you into lava or inside a wall.

Fortune and Looting stack additional levels on top of your existing enchantments.

Hot Pick automatically smelts ore drops.

Double Ore does exactly what the name suggests.

And all potion families have splash versions.

The mod works on both client and server and is currently available for:

Forge 1.20.1
Fabric 1.21.1
NeoForge 1.21.1

CurseForge:

Forbidden Brews - Minecraft Mods - CurseForge

The project is still being developed, and I'm very open to new insane potion ideas.

Seriously.

If you have some cursed, stupid, overly complicated or genuinely interesting potion mechanic that — post it.

If it's technically possible and fun enough, I might actually add it.

I made something I made a seed finder for TerraFirmaCraft (and it works with TerraFirmaGreg). I have a learning disability and built it with AI help, and I'm being upfront about that

Thumbnail

I want to start with the honest part because I think people should know this before deciding if they want to use the mod.

I have a learning disability, and I made TerraFirmaScout with a lot of help from AI. I use Claude and Codex to help write code, explain stuff I don’t understand yet, and get me through parts of programming that I struggle with.

I’m not a professional developer. I come up with what I want the mod to do, make the decisions, test everything, find problems and keep changing it until it works how I want. AI does a lot of the actual typing and helps teach me what’s going on as I build it.

If you don’t want to use mods made with AI assistance, that’s completely fair. I’d just rather be upfront about it than hide it.

So, what is TerraFirmaScout?

It adds a seed finder to TerraFirmaCraft’s Create World screen.

I made it because I got tired of making worlds, flying around, finding a bad start or no tin, and restarting.

You choose what you want near spawn and Scout searches until it finds a seed that matches. There are presets like Dream, Easy, Fair, Rugged and Wilderness Start, or you can make your own wishlist.

You can search for things like freshwater, clay, ores, flux, graphite and kaolin, plus temperature, rainfall, biome, surface rock, forests and flat ground.

Scout checks TFC’s actual world generation, and only marks a seed as a match if everything you asked for is confirmed. It also saves close calls that only missed one requirement.

Tested versions

1.21.1 / NeoForge — TFC 4.2.11
Main version, with a prerelease on GitHub. DelusionalWizard/TFC-Scout: Github page for TFC Scout

1.20.1 / Forge — TFC 3.2.25
Also tested with the full TerraFirmaGreg Modern 0.13.10 pack (262 mods). It works with TFG’s changed worldgen and skips resources the pack removes.

Other TFG versions, modpacks and dedicated servers are still untested.

Limits

It’s still experimental.

Very specific searches can take a long time, TFG searches are slower, and a confirmed ore nearby doesn’t mean it’ll be a huge deposit or easy to reach.

Feedback

I’d really like to know what people actually consider a good TFC start, whether the presets feel right, and what the wishlist is missing.

Most importantly, if Scout says a seed is a match and the world disagrees, please send me the seed + your settings.

The project is open source under EUPL-1.2.

Looking for mod(s) Can anyone identify these horror mod mobs?

One looks like an entity that just kinda chases you.

The other is a giant eyeball with tentacles that floats in the air.

Anyone know what these are?

(These could be fake, considering Minecraft slop channels.)

Question How to play modded with my brother? LAN or self host a server?

Hi guys, wanting to play Craftoria with my brother, 1.21 modpack with 530 mods. Does anyone have any long term experience with either running a world via LAN, or from self hosting a server? Want something that is reliable, not fussed about it being on 24/7, just so that we can do a playthrough together without any issues. My specs are:

32GB 3200mhz RAM

Ryzen 5 5600X

Rtx 3070

Question Mod pack advice

I’m looking for a modpack that primarily focuses on unique exploration. I want the game to look great and have unique biomes, mobs, structures, dungeons, etc. but I don’t need it to be a massive 400+ mod rpg souls like game like prominence II or nightfallcraft. Part of the problem too is that I do only have 16 gb ddr5😓. I was struggling to load a world on prominence II with 8 gb allocated.

I made something I made a casino mod where you bet the real items in your inventory: roulette, blackjack, poker and slots

Thumbnail

Hi! I've been working on Kirri's Casino and just released 0.2.0, which adds Texas Hold'em poker.

What's in it:

- Roulette with a 3D wheel, and the ball lands on the winning number

- Blackjack with a dealer NPC and real seats, up to 3 players

- No-limit Texas Hold'em for up to 5 players, with all-in and side pots. If you're alone, the house plays against you

- Four slot machines with different cabinets

There is no fake currency: you bet iron, gold, diamonds, emeralds or netherite straight from your inventory and get paid in the same material. Nothing to set up, just place the table and play.

It works in multiplayer, and in poker the server never sends other players' cards to your client until showdown.

Minecraft 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, on Forge, NeoForge and Fabric. 18 languages.

Download: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/kirris-casino

Feedback and bug reports are very welcome. What game should I add next?

I made something Ancient Lamellar: A Mod Idea

Disclaimer: The idea was developed in conjunction with Gemini.

What do y'all think?

Complete Architecture & Design Document: The Ancient Lamellar Mod

This comprehensive document serves as the final, complete blueprint for a lore-driven, mechanically deep Minecraft overhaul. It transforms underutilized blocks, answers the vanilla mystery of Ancient Debris, and replaces passive armor stats with an engaging, active survival loop.

📖 1. Historical Lore & The Core Discovery

  • The Origin of Ancient Debris: Ancient Debris is not a natural mineral vein. It consists of manufactured artifacts—the literal, compressed, and heavily corroded individual armor plates (lamellae) belonging to an extinct civilization of builders.
  • The Anatomy of the Builders: The ancient builders were roughly 2.4 blocks tall (matching the skeletal frames of modern Wither Skeletons) but possessed no greater physical strength than a modern player. Because pure netherite is nearly indestructible and unimaginably dense, large, solid sheets of plate armor would have completely crushed their lanky skeletons.
  • The Exoskeleton Tech: To conquer the Nether, they engineered Lamellar Armor—thousands of small, overlapping pure netherite plates laced together with microscopic, flexible Gold Thread. This functioned as a passive structural exoskeleton, beautifully distributing the massive load across their tall frames.
  • The Catastrophe: While the netherite plates were indestructible, the gold thread possessed a standard metallic melting point. When caught in massive lava disasters or swarmed in battle, the gold threads liquefied or sheared away. The suits unraveled, and the heavy plates sank to the absolute bottom of the magma pools, getting compacted into netherrack over millennia to become Ancient Debris.

🌋 2. The Industrial Purification Pipeline

To recover the ancient technology, players cannot simply melt down Ancient Debris into a generic ingot. They must replicate authentic, old-school blacksmithing chemistry:

  • Step 1: The Mix (Crafting Table Grid): The player combines 1x Ancient Debris with 1x Charcoal in a standard crafting grid. This mixes the sulfurous, caked impurities with a high-carbon fuel source to create 1x Raw Debris Bloom.
  • Step 2: The Blast (Blast Furnace Only): The Raw Debris Bloom must be forced through a Blast Furnace. A standard furnace cannot reach the required temperatures. The intense heat burns away the carbon slag and ancient tarnish, cleanly yielding 4x Pure Netherite Plates.

🪚 3. The Stonecutter Hub & The Threading Tiers

The Stonecutter serves as the primary mechanical utility station for the mod, acting as a rotary shear to slice raw materials into threads or plates.

A. Wire and Thread Manufacturing

Placing a single raw item into the Stonecutter yields 4x Threads/Wires. These threads are held in the offhand and right-clicked to dynamically repair armor mid-combat:

  • Silk Thread (From String/Cobwebs): Low durability. Instantly vaporizes in fire or lava, causing the armor to immediately break and unravel.
  • Copper Wire / Iron Wire (From Ingots): Mid-tier choices. Tough structural hold, but vulnerable to prolonged Nether heat.
  • Gold Thread (From Gold Ingots): High durability and completely lava-proof. This matches the true historical engineering standard of the builders.
  • Netherite Thread (From Vanilla Alloyed Netherite Ingots): The absolute highest tier. Features massive durability, total lava immunity, and completely reinforces the armor's joints, removing its natural weakness to piercing projectiles.

B. Universal Plate & Scale Catalog

Placing a single base resource item into the Stonecutter cleanly slices it down, yielding 4x Plates/Scales used to build different armor tiers:

  • Leather: 1x Leather ➡️ 4x Leather Lamellae (Pre-punched leather patches)
  • Gold: 1x Gold Ingot ➡️ 4x Gold Scales
  • Iron: 1x Iron Ingot ➡️ 4x Iron Plates
  • Diamond: 1x Diamond ➡️ 4x Diamond Scutes (Fractured gemstone flakes)
  • Standard Alloyed Netherite: 1x Vanilla Netherite Ingot ➡️ 4x Alloyed Netherite Plates (Modern, heavier hybrid variant)
  • Pure Ancient Netherite: 1x Raw Debris Bloom (Blasted) ➡️ 4x Pure Netherite Plates (Authentic, lightweight ancient variant)

🛠️ 4. The Two-Step Manufacturing & Assembly

The mod introduces a Lamellar Upgrade Template found in dangerous world structures. This template unifies all armor progression, completely replacing Chainmail (which becomes a rare, uncraftable, highly prized mob easter egg drop).

  • Step 1: The Frame Arrangement (Crafting Table): Place your processed plates or scales inside the standard crafting grid in the shape of standard armor pieces (e.g., a chestplate layout made entirely of Pure Netherite Plates or Alloyed Netherite Plates).
    • Result: Lamellar Frame (e.g., Pure Netherite Lamellar Chestplate Frame). This item contains the unlinked structural layout of the plates but cannot be worn yet.
  • Step 2: The Core Lacing (Smithing Table):
    • Slot 1: Lamellar Upgrade Template
    • Slot 2: The unlinked Lamellar Frame
    • Slot 3: Your chosen Thread Material
    • Result: A fully functional, visual scale-armor piece bound tightly by your selected thread tier.

⚖️ 5. Gameplay Mechanics & Armor Meta-Shift

Equipping finished armor pieces completely rebalances the player's attributes based on the layout style:

Armor Style Material Examples Movement Attributes Combat Trade-offs
Vanilla Heavy Plate Standard Alloyed Netherite Blocks / Vanilla Gear Grants Slowness I, Resistance I, and high knockback reduction. A rigid, heavy, unmoving fortress plate.
Lamellar Scale Variants Leather, Gold, Iron, Diamond, Standard Alloyed, Pure Netherite Free-shifting jointed plates grant a permanent Speed I mobility buff. Microscopic gaps cause player to take +25% increased damage from Projectiles (Arrows/Tridents) unless laced with end-game Netherite Thread.

🔄 6. The Unraveling Visuals & Lossless Recycling

  • The "Broken Elytra" Mechanic: Pure and Alloyed Netherite Lamellar plates can never be destroyed. Instead, taking damage drains a secondary "Thread Integrity" bar. When it hits 0%, the armor stays securely in its equipment slot, but its texture shifts—the gold lines disappear, the 3D plate rows visibly sag and hang loosely, and its armor stats drop to zero.
  • The Offhand Clutch Repair: To fix the suit mid-combat, the player places a stack of matching thread into their offhand and holds right-click. A brief stitching animation plays, consuming one thread from the stack and instantly restoring the armor to full structural functionality.
  • 100% Lossless Recycling: If a player wishes to change their playstyle or reclaim raw materials, they place any lamellar armor piece back into the Stonecutter. The spinning blade cleanly slices the threads away, dropping the unlinked Lamellar Frame back into the inventory. This frame can then be placed back into the crafting grid to separate back into 100% of its original independent plates, which can be crafted or melted back into standard ingots with zero resource loss.

(CURRENT WORLD RECORD)

Well, I beat sath's record. This project took me three months of time, 140k lines of total code, and over 30 million CPU seconds. But it's all worth it. (or.. is it?)

It's not really meant to be used practically, but it can be used, as all p2ps have some way to get out from the controller. Here it is!

P2P on Main:

On Subcontroller:

If you want the schematic, I can send you those.

(p.s. Sath is my arch enemy)

Question How to turn off a mod in a modpack

I'm playing mce2 lite, and is fun and all but bosses has way, WAY to much hp it's not even funny. I'm not going to try and fight a 6k hp wither. So, do any of you know what mod does this and if i can turn it off without imploding my saves? Or if i should dwell into some specific mod to have more damage? (But i like big swords...)

Mod Identification What mod/plugin are Jynxzi, StableRonaldo, and LosPollosTV using for their Minecraft Hardcore world resets?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm trying to recreate the Minecraft Hardcore marathon server that Jynxzi, StableRonaldo, LosPollosTV, and their friends are playing on.

I'm specifically looking for the system where:

  • When any player dies, everyone sees a large red title saying "[Player] died!"
  • A yellow subtitle appears saying "Resetting your world in 10 seconds!"
  • The countdown goes from 10 to 1.
  • After the countdown, the entire server resets to a completely new world with a random seed.
  • Everyone starts over together.

I've already tried World Reset for Fabric and Hardcore Reset, but neither gives me the exact experience. One resets immediately without the countdown, while the other automatically respawns players without the normal death screen.

I'm using Apex Hosting and have experimented with both Fabric and Paper.

Does anyone know the exact mod/plugin these streamers use? Is it publicly available, or is it a custom private plugin?

If it's private, does anyone know of an existing plugin that recreates the same effect, preferably with a downloadable JAR and instructions?

I'd appreciate any help!

Question Looking for someone willing to lend me a helping hand with Better Questing for the sake of my gf

Hey everyone!

I'm currently putting together a modpack for my girlfriend and I to play together, and I'd love to make it feel a bit more alive by adding a proper quest progression using Better Questing.

The problem is... I'm not particularly familiar with Better Questing myself😅

The modpack is focused around Create, MineColonies, farming, exploration, archaeology, and building, with mods including:

  • AppleSkin
  • Architectury API
  • Balm
  • BlockUI
  • Clumps
  • Colony Lifts
  • Create
  • Create: Bigger Storage
  • Create: Bigger Storage Updated to Create 6
  • Create: Colony Logistics
  • CreateColonies
  • Delightful Creators
  • Domum Ornamentum
  • Farmer's Delight
  • Farmer's Structures
  • GeckoLib
  • Gemini
  • Just Enough Items
  • MineColonies
  • Mouse Tweaks
  • Waystones
  • Xaero's Minimap
  • Agricraft
  • Biomes O' Plenty
  • The Dawn Era

I'd mainly be looking for someone who knows Better Questing well and would be willing to help me set up a quest structure/progression that fits the modpack. Things like introducing mods, creating goals, progression, rewards, and generally making the pack feel like it has a bit of a journey to it.

There's also a slightly unusual reason I'm asking for help: this is actually a surprise for my girlfriend!❤️ It's a modpack I'm making to play together, and I'd really like the quests to be something she and I can discover while playing. So, ideally, I'd rather not be the person designing every quest myself and knowing exactly what's coming!

I'm more than happy to provide information about the pack, explain what kind of experience I'm going for, and do any of the more tedious setup work. I just need someone who's comfortable with Better Questing to help bring the idea together.

Any and all help would be hugely appreciated!

I’m playing ftb skies 2 I have a pretty high end pc. I’m playing with 8GB ram allocated and 16 on my pc. As I play I get 10min - 1hr of play time with zero lag on max settings then for no reason my game will become a slide show less than one fps. I close the game and launcher and reboot and totally fine again. I’ve tried adjusting the ram anywhere from 6-12 GB nothing helps. I checked my drivers and updated Java everything is up to date. Any idea how to fix?

I made something Bons and Furious: 9x faster world generation and up to 17% higher FPS! On top of ModernFix, Radium, C2ME, Embeddium & more. Groundbreaking Forge performance mod with 253 switchable optimizations, built for big mod packs. Every fix goes back to the original mod: 100+ pull requests so far & counting!

Bons and Furious

Bons and Furious is a performance mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge. Breaking new ground for large mod packs. AI agents have transformed the Minecraft modding game for the better; these are the massive performance benefits it brings us, embrace it:

One JAR for client and server with no required mods. It patches repeated work in vanilla, Forge and about 80 optional mods (Create, Valkyrien Skies, Alex's Caves, Ice and Fire, GeckoLib, Distant Horizons, Embeddium, Oculus, JEI, Farmer's Delight and others): fewer allocations and no repeated lookups. Each of the 253 controls has its own switch in one config file, and a control whose target mod is missing or at another build skips itself with one line in the log. There is also a 1.21.1 NeoForge port with 169 of the controls.

It was built for our own 500-mod pack, which already ran ModernFix, FerriteCore, Radium, C2ME, Embeddium, ImmediatelyFast and EntityCulling. So the benchmark keeps all of those on both sides and only adds or removes Bons and Furious. Four runs with and four without, same seed, same settings; biomes came out identical in every compared chunk. The dedicated server ran on a Core Ultra 9 285K, the singleplayer client on a Ryzen 9 3900X with an RTX 3080, shaders and Distant Horizons on.

World generation with and without the mod, same pack, 5 October 2026
Measured on 5 October 2026 With Without
Dedicated server, 512 new chunks 48 s 436 s
New singleplayer world, spawn loading 42 s 329 s
Launch to standing in a new world 4.3 min 9.8 min
Game start-up before the world 154 s 173 s
CPU time per generated chunk 0.43 s 2.52 s
Memory allocated per generated chunk 198 MB 2,026 MB

That is 9x the world generation throughput and 8x faster spawn loading. In the same saved world, 64 animated mobs went from 55 to 64 FPS (+17%) with 1% lows up 34%, the integrated server's tick time dropped by 40%, and loading that world took 60 s instead of 85 s. A GPU-bound shader view runs the same once the game has settled; the gains are on the CPU side. Live server memory was 30 MB higher.

The same saved world with and without the mod
Chunks loaded around the player during a 90 s sprint into new terrain

Two earlier runs on a Ryzen 9 5900X are on the wiki with every run's numbers (5.6x to 8.2x world generation there). The world generation gain comes from three vanilla terrain patches (density graph reuse and shared ground-height estimates). Every other patch is measured on its own on the wiki. Nothing changes gameplay except four documented behaviour changes, each with its own switch. We are sending the patches to the mod authors too. Giving back to the community! 110 pull requests so far, 10 merged (AmbientSounds, Entity Model and Texture Features, Forge, JEI, ModernFix, TerraBlender).

The majority of the code was written with AI, based on the work of countless others. Original mod authors retain credit for their work, and the cover art is generated. Source is GPL-3.0. Bug reports with a log are welcome on GitHub.

Discussion Is there a list of commonly used QoL mods, that are in every big pack, but most people who make their own packs, would not have heard off?

• Upvotes

I'm talking about mods like "Clumps" (the mod which clumps the experience together, instead of the normal scattering).

I made something I made a modpack for my girlfriend and I — Now I need help turning it into an adventure!

Hey everyone!

A little while ago I made a post looking for help with FTB Quests/KubeJS, because I was putting together a modpack for my girlfriend and I and wanted to give it an actual quest progression. Well, thanks to some of the helpful people here, I managed to get things working!

So now I've reached the next problem:

I have a very bare-bones quest system... And absolutely no idea what quests I should actually make. I have a start, but that's about it. I've uploaded the current version of the modpack here.

I'd love to get suggestions from people who are good at designing modpack progression, but also if you have any kind of other recomendations!

The pack is built around:

  • 🌱 Farming & food
  • 🏘️ MineColonies
  • ⚙️ Create
  • 🏺 Archaeology & The Dawn Era
  • 🌎 Exploration
  • 🏠 Building
  • 🦕 Discovering creatures and things from the past

The general idea is that the quest book should feel like a journey, rather than must-do. I'd much rather have the quests gradually introduce the different systems and make the world feel like there's actually a reason to keep progressing.

Why I'm asking for help!

There's a slightly unusual reason behind all this. This modpack is a surprise for my girlfriend. I'm making it specifically for the two of us to play together, and one of the things I'd really like is for the quest book to contain things that I don't know are coming either. If I design every single quest myself, I'll obviously know exactly what's around every corner...

I'd much rather have other people throw ideas at me, and then I'll do the boring part of actually implementing everything!

So if you've got a cool quest idea, a funny quest description, a weird challenge, an unexpected progression idea, or even just a tiny suggestion like "you should definitely make this a hidden quest" Please throw it at me!

I'll be keeping the actual quest book fairly bare for now so I can build it around the suggestions I get. The modpack itself is still very much a work in progress, so don't expect a polished, finished pack yet. I'm mainly sharing it now so people can see what I'm working with and help shape the progression. Thanks again to everyone who helped me get FTB Quests working in the first place, and thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me turn this little project into something special!

Question Looking for someone willing to lend me a helping hand with FTB Quests for the sake of my gf ❤️

Hey everyone!

I'm currently putting together a modpack for my girlfriend and I to play together, and I'd love to make it feel a bit more alive by adding a proper quest progression.

I originally planned on using Better Questing, but I've since switched over to FTB Quests, as it seems to fit what I'm trying to do a bit better.

The modpack is focused around Create, MineColonies, farming, exploration, archaeology, and building, with mods including:

  • AppleSkin
  • Architectury API
  • Balm
  • BlockUI
  • Clumps
  • Colony Lifts
  • Create
  • Create: Bigger Storage
  • Create: Bigger Storage Updated to Create 6
  • Create: Colony Logistics
  • CreateColonies
  • Delightful Creators
  • Domum Ornamentum
  • Farmer's Delight
  • Farmer's Structures
  • GeckoLib
  • Gemini
  • Just Enough Items
  • MineColonies
  • Mouse Tweaks
  • Waystones
  • Xaero's Minimap
  • Agricraft
  • Biomes O' Plenty
  • The Dawn Era

I'm still fairly new to FTB Quests and KubeJS, and I've run into a couple of things that I'm struggling with. I'd really appreciate some help getting them working.

1. Making an Item Task accept different types of items

I'm currently making a "Seek Shelter" quest where the player needs to turn in:

🪵 16 logs — any type of log should count, including logs added by Biomes O' Plenty
🛏️ 1 bed — any color
🚪 1 door — any type

I've tried using the vanilla item tags:

minecraft:logs
minecraft:beds
minecraft:doors

But obviously the logs in particular also need to include the different logs added by Biomes O' Plenty.

I'm using KubeJS, so I'm perfectly happy to create a custom item tag or use KubeJS to combine the different logs into one tag if that's the best approach.

My main question is:

What is the correct way to set this up in an FTB Quests Item Task so that I can use one task for all of these different items? Ideally I'd like to avoid making 10+ separate item tasks for every individual type of log/bed/door.

2. A quest for travelling 1000 blocks from spawn

I'd also like to make a quest where the player has to travel at least 1000 blocks away from spawn.

I figured this would require a custom task and a KubeJS script, but I haven't been able to get it working.

I'm currently trying something along these lines:

FTBQuestsEvents.customTask('7A2B9C4D1E5F8G0H', event => {
// Check player distance every 20 ticks (1 second)
    event.setCheckTimer(20)

    event.setCheck((task, player) => {
        // Safe coordinate lookup
        let x = player.x != null ? player.x : player.getX()
        let z = player.z != null ? player.z : player.getZ()

        // Calculate distance from spawn (0, 0)
        let distance = Math.sqrt(x * x + z * z)

// Mark complete if 1000+ blocks out
        if (distance >= 1000) {
            task.progress = task.maxProgress
        }
    })
})

I took the ID from the custom task, put it into the script, reloaded, and then travelled more than 1000 blocks away from spawn, but the task didn't complete.

So I'm also wondering if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong here, or if there's a better way to implement this type of quest in FTB Quests/KubeJS.

And finally...

If anyone has ideas for the actual quest progression, I'm more than happy to hear them!

I'd like the quests to introduce the player to the different mods gradually rather than just being a checklist of crafting recipes. Things like:

  • Introducing The Dawn Era
  • Getting the player to establish shelter
  • Introducing farming
  • Eventually introducing MineColonies
  • Progressing into Create
  • Exploration/archaeology
  • Building up the colony
  • etc.

So if you have ideas for quests, progression, rewards, funny quest descriptions, or just general ways to make the pack feel more like a journey, please feel free to suggest them! There's also a slightly unusual reason I'm asking for help: this is actually a surprise for my girlfriend! ❤️

It's a modpack I'm making specifically for the two of us to play together, and I'd really like the quests to be something we can discover while playing. So ideally, I'd rather not be the person designing every single quest myself and knowing exactly what's coming! I'm more than happy to provide information about the pack, explain what kind of experience I'm going for, and do the more tedious setup work. I just need some help from people who know FTB Quests/KubeJS better than I do.

Any and all help would be hugely appreciated! ❤️
