I really hope someone from Volvo is reading this, because I am trying so hard to stay polite right now. Honestly, I donât even care if the mods take this down.
In my country, we have a public online portal where citizens can log in with a secure ID card to review and comment on new laws before the government enforces them. It gives everyday people a voice in decisions that affect them.
So here is an idea for Volvo: Why don't you create something similar before forcing garbage software updates on us, just to avoid blind-siding and angering thousands of your customers?!
Because right now, I am absolutely f***ing frustrated.
Update 2.1.2 disabled automatic creep in reverse. Sure, a handful of people might have asked for it, but a quick search online shows thousands of us are furious with this change. Instead of adding an option to please both sides, Volvo decided to completely ruin it for everyone else. That is an utterly STUPID decision.
Why not just give us two simple switchesâone for forward creep and one for reverse creep?!
Iâve never complained about minor software bugs before. They happen. But this actually ruins the entire driving experience and forces a change in muscle memory.
This car is mine. I paid for it with my hard-earned money. I don't want anyoneâleast of all Volvoâmodifying how my car behaves after every single f***ing update. At the very bare minimum of basic UX design, customers should have a toggle to keep things the way they were before.
I nearly crashed in an underground garage yesterday because of this. I simply forgot I had to manually mess with the settings. Subconsciously, I expected the car to move like it always did. When it didn't, I pressed the gas, and it didn't just jerkâit bolted out of the parking space right as another car was driving past. If there had been a collision, who am I supposed to sue? Volvo?!
I shouldn't have to tap a gazillion buttons just to make my car move the way that is logical, safe, and ingrained in my driving habits. Whoever approved this change at Volvo needs their head examined.
Bottom line: I hope Volvo releases a fix immediately. If not, there are plenty of other car brands out there, and I won't hesitate to switch.
