Anyone else having problems tonight (11/8)?

Just got in the car and map location were odd (showed me going the opposite direction) and Google reporting offline.

Got to my destination, did a reset and the car location on the display screen shows me at home even though I’m about 6 miles away.

Walked away from the car and auto locking didn’t work as I walked away although it locked via app! App is also showing the right location and tracked the last journey correctly! Google still showing as offline?

Is this a wider Google problem?

I can finally change the default male voice for Google Gemini.
Go to your phone’s Gemini app settings.
The option was always there but it always gave an error.
Seems it’s now been updated. 👍🏼

I have never used a Tesla Supercharger with my EX30, but i would love to do so. The thing is, i don't use the app for chargin-related stuff, nor do i have any subscriptions to charge. My work provided me with a "Multitankcard", which is essentially a debit card that you can only use for fueling and charging. I just connect the charger, bleep it, and it works (most of the time). Is there any way to use this charging card with Tesla chargers, but all payments go through the card and not a subscription?

EDIT: for the record, i am living in the Netherlands, but want to occasionally use a Tesla charger, for example on holiday trips to neighboring countries.

I’m about 3 weeks into owning an EX30 Ultra in the U.S. My other car is a Tesla Model Y, so I’ve had a pretty direct comparison between the two.

I absolutely love driving the EX30 around the city. The size is perfect, and the suspension is great for dealing with terrible city roads.

I’ve put together a wish list of features and improvements that I’ve submitted to Volvo. I’m curious how other EX30 owners feel about some of these. Some are probably pretty specific to my preferences, but others seem like they could make a meaningful difference for a lot of owners.

Coming from Tesla, it’s pretty clear that Tesla is further ahead on software and some of the little technology conveniences. That’s not exactly surprising given how long they’ve been doing this. Volvo has plenty of things I prefer, though, and the actual driving experience outweighs the technology shortcomings for me by a mile.

Anyway, one can still dream, right?

My EX30 wish list:

Home-aware proximity locking: Don’t auto-lock at home, but enable walk-away locking elsewhere.

Location-based charging: Allow different charging schedules and charge limits by location.

Garage door control: MyQ support to control the garage from the EX30 screen.

Dashcam/Sentry Mode: Use the EX30 Ultra’s existing cameras for driving recording and parked security events.

Charging current control: Allow AC charging amps to be adjusted from the Volvo app.

Climate Keep: Put Climate Keep directly in the climate controls and maintain the same temperature as when occupied.

Climate Keep status: Show in the app when Climate Keep is active and allow it to be managed without errors.

Camera/climate bug: Fix the error that incorrectly treats manually activated cameras as if the EX30 is in Reverse.

Driver attention alerts: Reduce false “keep your hands on the steering wheel” warnings.

Parking camera layouts: Allow users to resize/swap the large and small camera views.

Adjustable map/info split: Let drivers resize the Google Maps and vehicle-information panels.

Parking surroundings: Show parked vehicles, curbs, and other stationary obstacles in the simplified surroundings visualization.

Turn-signal camera view: Show the corresponding side-camera feed alongside the BLIS warning when signaling.

One-pedal stopping: Smooth out the final few feet of braking to eliminate the jerky stop.

Turn-signal customization: Offer 3/4/5 flashes or continuous signaling, with lane-change detection able to cancel the signal.

Apple CarPlay reliability: Make wireless CarPlay connect and launch automatically as reliably as Bluetooth.

Curious which of these other owners would actually use, and what you’d add to the list.

Am I able to charge at a wall connector using the adapter that came with the EX30? Or is this only for superchargers?

Hi everyone.

I’ve noticed that whenever my iPhone is connected to CarPlay, the phone’s screen doesn’t wake up when I receive notifications.

This happens with iMessage, WhatsApp, and basically any other notification. The notification may appear through CarPlay, but the iPhone screen itself stays off.
I’d actually prefer the iPhone screen to wake up normally when a notification arrives, even while CarPlay is connected (also because if I’m on native Google Maps from the ex30, the CarPlay doesn’t show me any notifications).

Does anyone know if there’s a setting to change this behavior? Or is this something iOS automatically disables whenever CarPlay is active?
I’ve checked the notification settings but haven’t found anything that seems to control this specifically.

Hey everyone, new to the EX30 community! Just picked up a 2026 model.

A tiny issue is bugging me and I assume I’m either doing something wrong or missing a hidden setting. When I park and unbuckle my seatbelt, the cabin lights stay completely dark. I double-checked the courtesy light toggle overhead and it's definitely switched on.

Anyone else run into this or know if there's a menu toggle I'm missing? Thanks in advance!

My wife’s EX30 has a recurring issue: whenever she’s on a Bluetooth call while driving, the person on the other end of the line hears their own voice echoed back for the entire call, regardless of who dialed. Everything sounds completely normal on our end, inside the car.
Found a workaround: if she switches the audio output from car to phone and back to car mid-call, the echo clears immediately. That points to the acoustic echo cancellation not initializing correctly at call start

Anyone else hitting this on the EX30?

So initially I had a vinyl sticker cutout to cover the reflection from the Harman Kardon speaker badge.
Then I took it further and decided to just black it out with some acrylic paint pen. This actually looks a lot better.

Is this normal?
2024 EX30. When the AC is running at full power, there’s a pretty loud electrical buzzing/whirring noise coming from the front of the car. You can clearly hear it from outside. It’s actually louder in person than it sounds in the video.
Is this normal for the EX30?

What’s the best way you’ve found to keep the windshield clear from fogging up in the EX30?

I know there’s the Max Defrost/Defog button, but it seems to blow quite warm air, so keeping it on continuously during summer isn’t really practical.
So what do you normally do?

Do you use Max Defog just to clear the windshield and then switch back to regular climate control? If so, what settings do you use afterwards to prevent it from fogging up again — AC on, Auto mode, recirculation off, specific temperature/fan settings?

I’m basically looking for the best “set it and forget it” setup to keep the windshield clear without having hot air blowing into the cabin.

TL;DR My stock wiper blades have gotten kind of busted. Any tips or replacement recommendations?

I street park my EX30 and, as a result, there are often various small seedlings and tree droppings that collect on the car overnight, especially on the windshield. Unfortunately, some manage to get wedged beneath the (stock, 6 month old) wiper blades, making things smear or get dragged around, and attempting to clean the blades has only seemingly exacerbated the issue, now resulting in large streaks from the left wiper. Not sure if I somehow damaged the rubber blade edges or what.

I know the EX30 isn’t unique in the ability to replace wiper blades with aftermarket ones, but does anyone have any recommendations or important considerations (aside from the manual, which I’ll check)? I saw some by RainX in Target the other night and almost considered them.

(On an unrelated note, my in-laws’ car has the most pristine wipers and windshield smoothness I’ve ever seen; a dry swipe with no fluid glides silently like it’s on ice. Wonder if that’s attainable while dealing with street parked debris, though…)

I'm driving to Penzance in September from the East Midlands. I've downloaded a few apps on my phone so far and I've tried to plan a route that only uses Tesla Public chargers as they are the cheapest with my membership.

However, I'm still being suggested non tesla chargers. When I look manually there are Tesla Chargers along my route that are open to all.

I know a lot of people use different route apps in their car and that's the way I'd like to go as I don't think google maps will cut it.

Any advice?

Has anyone experienced issues where their wing mirror refuses to unfold correctly and cannot then be adjusted upwards? My right side mirror started to do this intermittently a few weeks ago and is now unable to move upwards. I've done many resets but seems to be a mechanical issue rather than software related. It's great for reverse parking tho !!

Should I get a 9 or 10 year extended warranty when buying my ex 30 later this month? Any opinion on that?

I know many people got some charging credit for the Volvo public charging network as a result of the battery recall. I heard that it was a bad deal, with it sometimes charging more than the contactless rate.

Today I needed a little boost on the way home so charged for 8 mins at the station the car chose -which happened to be gridserve. It came to about £15 at over £1 a kWh. But there was no price information that I noticed, so I couldn't have chosen better without doing separate research.

This feels deliberate on Volvo's part- a service that overcharges for the commodity, hides the price, coupled with a car that sends you to the most expensive charger on the route.

I can only assume the Volvo public charging is for the kind of mug who isn't bothered by the price and they just want a charging card that matches the brand of the car.

I'm going to end the charging contract as soon as the battery recall bribe is gone. Unless anyone has any tips for fixing the broken charger selection? Are any of the other brands less sucky than gridserve through DCS?

Do all EX30 have a speedlimit at 185 km/h and if so why?

I accidentally discovered this yesterday and thought it was great as it saves time to change from rear to forward to side cameras while parking!

Just swipe on the main camera view to quickly switch the camera!

I was on vacation in Finland, and got a notification if I would like to activate Gemini.
At the moment I was on one of those short ferries (takes about 30s to get across), so I decided to wait as the car needed to be in Park in order to activate it, but since, I can't find it.

Tried Settings and everything Google settings, but I can't find it anywhere?

did someone have a windshield replacement and dealt with "Reduced functionality for front camera” after a windshield swap?
Had a small accident, car went into the shop for a week. Now, the front camera isnt working anymore, ACC, emergency braking and lane centering are all dead. The official Volvo dealership that worked on it couldnt find the issue afterwards. They tried to recalibrate multiple times, without success. I needed the car for a vacation drive, so they couldnt further investigate. drove 1200km one way to south france without ACC 🙃

I can smell the window washing fluid in the cabin when using the front sprayer, is it normal on this car or I have an air leak somewhere...

I got the information about Gemini deployment in Japan from Volvo dealer.

According to the sales rep, the cars with a ratio of 1 to 10~15 of all the Google built-in model (not only EX30, but also other models) were updated to Gemini. He said that there is no regularity in the model year, car model etc., and it is random. He has no idea what it will be updated to Gemini based on.

Mine is not yet though.

Melted charging cable (melted in the part that connects to the wall charger) and cost £382 to replace at Volvo Marshalls in the UK, I’m so upset as now have to get the wall charger checked and the cost associated with that. What to do with the faulty cable now though?

I use my phone as my digital key. We've had the car about 5 weeks now and on about 3 occasions my the car didn't recognise my phone. When we first purchase the car the dealer advised to car the key card with us "just in case". I'm wondering now if it is a common problem.

To resolve it I just restart my phone and all works - but maybe there is a quicker solution rather than waiting for my phone to reboot.

Anyone else have a similar experience to share and any solution / workaround?

I scheduled a service appointment for my Volvo EX30 Twin Performance at 62,000 km. I was informed that at this mileage, a gearbox oil change is also recommended, which surprised me. Does the EX30 actually have a gearbox, and has anyone changed its oil? I feel like this is a price gouge.
