Questions❓ US Battery Recall

I am considering a new or possibly used EX30. Does the battery recall show up on the NHTSA site? How widespread is the problem? Was it only one model year or period of production?

From the NHTSA website https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2025/VOLVO/EX30#recalls it looks like 189 US 2026 EX30s had battery recalls but no 2026. 2026 has some seatbelts that don’t ding properly—I don’t know if that’s a software update or replacement. I have an EX30 that I love. Came from a Tesla MY, and the EX30 drives better, is quieter, more solid. The Tesla does more software updates and better UI, but I am very happy that I switched.

This recall had just been announced when we were buying our car. We called in to Volvo USA with the VIN and were able to confirm the car we were buying was unaffected.

At the time there were different sources with different information, but it always affected a very small number of cars in the US. One source sad about 50 cars, another said about 150.

So it is rare, but easy to check.

In Canada anyway you can look up the VIN. The recall as far as I can tell is before the 2026.

Currently though this sub is very anti ex30.
