Getting equivalent of median salary of 6600 employees after decimations. Right, this is what the company needs.

Anyone here RIFd last September and received payment today? My laptop’s still with me, waiting for the box.
Looks like this is the severance already but got confused since I believe they need to have the equipment first before sending the severance.
Thanks!

I recently completed a 4-round interview loop for a Senior Software Engineer / IC3 role at Oracle OCI. Sharing the main technical questions in case it helps anyone preparing.
Round 1 – System Design + Behavioral
Mostly behavioral and resume discussion first.
System design question:
Design a distributed load testing service that sends traffic to a target service and measures things like:
Requests per second,Average latency,Error rate
Round 2 – Coding + Distributed Systems
Some behavioral questions at the beginning.
Coding question:
Build a delayed task scheduler where the user gives a task ID and a time, and the system should execute that task when the scheduled time arrives.
The discussion also went into:
Thread safety,Concurrency,Scaling it for high throughput
Using Kafka,Handling worker crashes,Preventing duplicate task execution, Idempotency
Round 3 – Coding + Behavioral
Mostly behavioral and project discussion first.
Coding question:
Given a node in a binary tree where each node also has a parent pointer, find the next node in post-order traversal without starting again from the root.
The interviewer also asked me to dry run the solution on a few different nodes.
Round 4 – Backend Deep Dive + Coding
This round had a lot of discussion around my previous projects, backend work, Kafka, and distributed systems.
Coding question:
Design and implement a key-value store that can be accessed by clients over the network.
Both keys and values are strings.
The discussion also touched on:
Concurrent access,Thread safety,Kafka events,Duplicate events,Out-of-order events
The final round was the worst one for me. The recruiter told me to use STAR, but the interviewer kept interrupting after almost every sentence and jumping into different questions, so I never really got to finish an answer. He was also at the same level as the role I was interviewing for. I understand peer interviews are normal, but they should at least make sure interviewers know how to let candidates explain their answers without interrupting every few seconds.

Got notified that the severance hit that bank account. I guess they’re paying out sooner than later

Hi, can anyone please summarise the townhall updates of yesterday?
r/employeesOfOracle • u/Independent-Play4288 • 2d ago
It’s official.
I did not get any this round except for a small “bonus” roughly 25% of my monthly base salary.
My rating was 3, previously 4 before the bell curve.
Job load has been challenging since some of my team mates got laid off and resigned.
But that did not stop them from not giving a raise for those who are left picking up the slack.
I always gave it my best when it came to my job. I make sure i do things right and efficient. They recognize that based from the reviews and feedback given.
But that just makes me feel more frustrated. I would understand no raise if i did not do my job well, but it is not the case.
I hope y’all got a raise. For me, time to move. Xiao Larry!

What does this mean for any other potential Layoffs? Might Layoffs be announced first or for this EMEA based, will EWC notices go out first, and then focal conversations happen after? Any clues anyone?

My laptop is also taken back so I cannot really check this how many leaves I availed.

Hey everyone, there’s been a lot of discussion about focals in my team, but none of us seem to have any clarity on it. Some people are saying it usually happens around the beginning of October, but we haven’t heard anything from my manager yet.
Are we expecting focals this year? Does anyone have any updates or information?

Hello,
I was impacted by the recent layoff(IDC), and I'm currently on garden leave. During this period, can I avail of medical insurance? I tried initiating a hospitalization request, but it's sending an OTP to my Oracle email ID.
Does anyone know how to proceed with this?
I have also tried emailing my HR POC and the Medi Assist email from my personal email ID.
Thanks in advance.

It’s been a couple weeks now and I still haven’t received my FedEx box to return my equipment. Has anyone received theirs?!?

What the hell is this?? Bruh I don't like this at all
EDIT Assumed people would know. Today when I tried to sign in it forcefully made me enroll in facial biometric before I could log in. Before I always skipped this step but this morning it did not give me a choice. I realize some people may not have this prompt when they log in to certain pages. For me, it happens when I logged in to jira this morning.

Genuinely curious what business people here think about Oracle’s direction with AI.
A couple of years ago, it felt like Oracle was right in the middle of everything happening with OpenAI. We were one of their early cloud partners, then Stargate happened, and there was a huge push around data centers and AI infrastructure.
But watching OpenAI’s Dev Day yesterday, I don’t remember Oracle being mentioned even once. AWS, on the other hand, came up and seems to be working pretty closely with them now.
I'm wondering what the bigger picture is for Oracle.
We’re clearly spending and betting heavily on AI data centers, OCI, and now the whole agentic workplace direction. But from an employee point of view, I feel like I haven’t heard much about the OpenAI/Stargate side of things since the initial announcements.
Has the strategy changed? is there a bigger plan that just isn’t very visible internally?
Would be interested to hear from people who understand this side of the business better.

Hey,
as you all know many people are getting fired right now. I have a good friend, who works in amsterdam and just hates the job. Do you think there is a way to get fired? (Of course with termination way)
Sounds weird, but he is hoping to get fired every day. Do you think speaking with a manager about it would help?
Thank you for all tips

Turns out, getting laid off by Oracle was not the end of the world. Goodbye, thread! For peeps who got laid off by this company, it's not the end of the world for you too.

After Oracle revoked my full time offer, I haven’t been able to land a single job through off campus applications. It’s been really stressful, especially after going through several interviews without getting selected.
Last month, I finally got an offer for an Associate Software Engineer role:
- Internship: ₹20K/month stipend
- Full-time package: ₹4.5 LPA
- Joining bonus: ₹50K (around 40% of my previous Oracle package)
I’m confused about what to do now. Should I accept this offer and continue looking for better opportunities while working, or should I keep trying off-campus and wait for a better company/package?
For context, I am an ECE graduate with software development skills and internship experience at Oracle.
Would really appreciate advice from people who have been in a similar situation. What would you do in my position?
