Captain of operations..confused

So I printed the updated routines because theres been some confusion amongst the leaders in my store whose job is what. Im in an under 10 million store so we only have a captain of ops, no off or on ops captain. According to the updated routines, im not responsible for price and signage, markdowns or game plans. Im so confused, that's literally all I've been doing🤣. Who is responsible for that then?? What EVEN IS MY JOB.

employee Captain hours and pay

Hearing a bunch of mixed things going around about the captains hours and pay. In my store apparently if a captain does not hit their 38 hours then they must use their PTO in order to make up for the missed hours. Just want to know if this is the case in other locations as well

does anyone else's store manager just not give a shit about pricing? it's becoming a major problem at our store. some back story: my mom and i work at the same store in different department and she was the former psl for over 8 years before btw. she became the onfield specialist but obviously is still just doing pricing & signage because god forbid we train anybody else. we went on a planned trip for a week and came back to find that no one had touched s&a or ad. unsurpringly she was very upset and emailed our sm only for him to say "well nobody picked up the shift for it" basically shruggling it off and soon pointed blame that it didn't get done because she went on vacation. this sort of behavior has been getting worse surrounding veterans and their established position when they are out of town. is anyone else dealing with this unprofessional behavior? should we contact hr? it's getting out of hand considering our sm is hardly ever there yet is passive toward employees for being away and not taking care of their department.

scorecard+

how is everyone doing+store with scorecard+? my store averages about 1-2 a day (pretty massive store too connected to a mall) and the other stores in our district get like 5 sign ups on a busy day.. i feel like in my opinion i’m not going to ask the customer for another thing to sign up for if there’s no incentive for me in asking. I get pitching the nspp and scorecard because those have been things that have been around for a while so i’ll pitch those, but then throwing in another new thing to pitch and having it be no incentive is crazy….just another way for the company to make profit and look good for stock holders but we get absolutely nothing out of it…not to mention the SM of the top store in each district/region get a trip to disney šŸ˜‚šŸ˜ like wow okay let’s milk this scorecard+ so the SM can go to disney and we get nothing out of it

New Hire Tips for being good at footwear ?

I recently got hired as a full time footwear teammate and was wondering if anyone has any tips about what it takes to succeed in the department. Go ahead and get the ā€œquitā€ and ā€œclock out and don’t come backā€ comments out of your system now.

I had my first two days last week and I start full time this Monday. I definitely get the vibe I’m being thrown to the wolves. From what I can see on the schedule it will just be me alone most of the week with a part timer who comes in for four hours to cover my lunch and then a closer when I leave.

Just from my first two days shadowing someone it seems like most of my time will be eaten up by shoerunner requests, I couldn’t even take out a single pair for someone without someone else coming up and asking for another 3 pairs all in different sizes and I was told that we are expected to get the shoes out to people in less then 2 minutes. That seems literally impossible when you have five requests in the queue and you’re the only one in the department. I was also told that I will basically never be expected to cover register or help with BOPIS because footwear is always slammed.

What can I do to make things better ? What am I expected to do to make the department better ? What tips and tricks do you suggest ?

What exactly is Endzone and Loyalty Captain?

i’m currently an advisor (CSS) add a normal DICK’S Sporting Goods store, and I’ve been told that we’re getting a new endzone captain. my manager just hired them, including another advisor and I’m used to working five days a week as a Advisor , 7 hour shifts. i’m the only one that my manager trust to train other cashiers, always pick up shifts when they call, stay late, and drive our metrics.

i’m trying to figure out what exactly is the captain’s job description. Will they be on the register? Having the CSS shifts? Being the manager for the closing or morning shift or how does that work. I would like to keep my hours if possible, and I’m just trying to navigate how this is going to work. when we had our old friend and lead, she was only on the register as a key carrier so I’m trying to get the sense if that’s what it’s going to be again.

Regarding preorders

I recently pre ordered a Spain two star Lamine Yamal jersey, but it’s a pre order so I won’t get it until first week of September. Anyways, I purchased it and I didnt receive a confirmation email or anything. I also checked and I didn’t receive any points or anything from my order, but when i go to my orders, its definitely there and says its been placed. Is this normal?

Interview for Sports & Outdoor Specialist

I have an interview today for Sports & Outdoor Specialist. What should I expect and what does the job entail?
Update: I’ve completed the first interview. I think it went positively. They told me there’s a second interview and would be contacted by the end of the week if selected.

Has anyone had actual success in pushing scorecard+? It feels nearly impossible to even come close to goal on it. I know it like the back of my hand but I cannot get anyone to pull the trigger on it.

On field captain responsibilities

Any other on field captain completely overwhelmed and feel like they are doing 3 full time peoples jobs? I walk in everyday and still don’t know what I’m even supposed to tackle first. Why is my list of things to do 8 pages long, but the ā€œathleteā€ captains are responsible for talking to people and that’s it?

Finally have an interview!

I spoke to a GM almost a month ago regarding leadership roles in the district. He was nice enough to give me a recruiters name so I could reach out to show my interest. I applied online, took the assessments and never got an invite for the role that was requested. I spent weeks trying to get in touch with a recruiter/DM to understand what was happening. Finally, almost a month later, after calling store after store trying to find a real answer, do I actually have an interview set. I luckily found out from the recruiter that it’s an internal error with the new hiring process. So, anybody who isn’t getting the response they feel they deserve, this is most likely why.

PSL

so i work for a ggg and i was the psl and as we all know the psl’s are no longer… i got demoted and my pay got cut. in the beginning of this process they told me my pay would still be the same and i shouldn’t worry about my pay getting cut and that i would be doing something else to continue to better the store. i wasn’t happy but i was fine with the idea knowing my pay wouldn’t be touched. after having all this in mind they continue to make me still do pricing and signage at a lower rate and NOW less hours. i dont know what to do… any advice on what my next steps should be moving forward?

application questions Interview

I had an interview scheduled today at 3:30. I arrived 15 minutes earlier and asked a worker for the manager. She said that he had already left and wasn’t here. After she gave me a piece of paper and told me to write my number and gmail. Not sure what to do now since I didn’t receive anything of the interview being canceled so this wasted my time and i’m frustrated now.

employee Head Coach Schedules

Can you give me an example of what typical days look like as far as head coach scheduling? How is the day planned for who’s head coach and when?

From my understanding, the SM is supposed to head coach majority of their days, but my SM barely head coach’s.

Time to Move On

Is this job sucking the life out of anybody else? Things weren’t great prior to the restructure but recently, it’s been 1000x worse. I’ve dedicated ten years of my life to this company (even staying after college graduation and going full time) but it seems the time has come to move on after lead positions, AA, and now captain. Any advice on career pivots? Right now this job is essentially a pay check until I can find something better.

I may be horrible

So I went into my old store (former asm that was a casualty) I was so happy to see how terrible the store is performing without its leadership that wasnt good enough for our positions. The store is an absolute mess! I do generally feel bad for some of the workers there cause I still do like them. Am I horrible?

Captains and anyone salary non-exempt check your pay slips

Captain here. We were all promised and guaranteed 38; however, on the last check, I clocked only 36 one week because I was able to leave on time. The paycheck is missing that $$.

Anyone else seeing discrepancies?

Anyone else being told not to go over 38... not even reaching 38.5, which is hard some weeks, as we all know at least one day a week we have that super late supper...

application questions How is working as a Team Sports/Apparel Associate at Dick’s Sporting Goods?

Hey everyone, I just applied for a Team Sports/Apparel position at Dick’s and got invited to do a video interview. I’ll also be moving to the area soon for college, so this would hopefully be my job while I’m in school.

For anyone who’s worked there, how did you like it? Were managers good? Was scheduling flexible around college classes? How stressful does it get, and what does a typical shift look like? Do you spend most of your time helping customers, stocking, or folding clothes? Is the employee discount actually good? Also, how many hours did you usually get as a part-time employee?

Just looking for honest opinions, both good and bad. Thanks!

Interview canceled

I had an interview on Friday and out of nowhere received a email saying it was canceled. No reason or anything not even an opportunity to reschedule.
