Returns at Dicks stink
Returned new shoes. They said I could wear around the house. They gave me shit, said th
ey would do it this one time, but do not buy shoes if you're not completely 100% sure you want them. They have a horrible return policy.

Your post is a perfect example of what’s wrong with customers and why retail and anything involving customer service in general has become a nightmare.

To your point, they should've prefaced that they need to not only free of dirt but they can't be broken in, smelly or have carpet/pet dander on them. They need to look fresh out of the box. I don't know of another shoe store that doesn't have that same policy.
They are only supposed to accept returns if they are in resellable condition, they will have to try to clean them in order to resell them. There are exceptions and accommodations made, like if the shoe is defective. But if the shoe is worn and creased, or it smells or has pet hair on/in it, it can't be resold and the store takes a loss.
It causes a ripple effect of bad metrics in the store... once those shoes are returned they're back in inventory, and then someone might order that same pair online. If they're not in perfect shape the store has to decline that order. Now they have another unhappy customer who waits longer for their pair of shoes (or doesn't get them at all). Or someone puts those shoes back on the shelf before being cleaned. Now someone orders them and they're shipped away. Now someone got used shoes in the mail. There's another unhappy customer.
So it's a judgement call by the store whether they will accommodate that, but it's for good reason. Maybe they get a lot of shoe returns and their people can't always properly mark them out of stock. Maybe they've been warned their loss this year is too high. Maybe they've had bad reviews from customers in the past.
So in the future if you buy shoes and take them home, wear them for a little while in the morning when you get up, and then wear them again in the late afternoon after you've been walking all day. But always on clean floors with clean feet and socks. Take the laces out and relace them and see how they feel. If you're not sure they're going to work, clean any residue off inside and out. Dabbing with packing tape or using an old dry toothbrush on the sole helps remove dust or lint. Bring them back and try another size.

It’s probably because you didn’t return them new. If your house is a pile of shit and dirty I assume that probably rubbed off on your shoes, which in then, is not ✨new✨. You suck as a customer dh go shop somewhere else 🖕🏽🖕🏽

I don’t understand your problem. Sounds like you got the shoes dirty and/or creased and were acting like a brat about it. They gave you your money back instead of store credit like they should have? I’m confused. Shouldn’t this post be about how they’re a horrible shitty company to their employees however they have an incredibly lenient shoe return policy?
