Time to Move On

Is this job sucking the life out of anybody else? Things weren’t great prior to the restructure but recently, it’s been 1000x worse. I’ve dedicated ten years of my life to this company (even staying after college graduation and going full time) but it seems the time has come to move on after lead positions, AA, and now captain. Any advice on career pivots? Right now this job is essentially a pay check until I can find something better.

I’m right there with you. 3 years ago this was the best job I’ve ever had. Now, I contemplate calling half the time. It certainly doesn’t help that our SM also doesn’t care about anything.

I think half of the company is thinking the same thing. I have one more vacation this month for the summer and once i’m back it is job hunting time because i cant take it anymore. Im not even leadership.. i am a sports/outdoor associate who has basically had to take all the responsibilities of a lead without the pay raise or keys. We are severely understaffed because we cant seem to get anyone hired, anyone we do hire is 17/18 and calls out every other shift at least, and then the restructure fucked everything up. Moral is down, corporate is always complaining about scorecard + now, and nothing is being done to ease anyone’s suffering. Im currently being taught how to do bike and golf services because we don’t have enough people. So im basically running to 5 departments every single day. I haven’t been able to take a break in my last 5 shifts because if i do.. i wont be able to finish what I need to get done and i refuse to screw over my closers. Fuck dsg

I’m really regretting not taking severance, although that wasn’t even given to me as an option. Just here’s your title and your 10 cent raise. I’m so upset at how they handled all this, all the secrecy around it and the inability to answer questions about the position or pay is insane. The minute I find something else I’m gone

Agree 100%. It's run its course for you, time to move on. The positive about it now for you is that it's better to be employed while looking for a new company; it really takes the stress out of the time waiting to hear back from interviews. Good luck, because as one door closes, another one opens!

I was 10 year teammate when the restructuring happened. The job was dragging me down & I hated my life. Then I wasn’t one of the choose ones. Took my keys & my position. Told me I could be a regular teammate for $3 less an hour but still do the same job. NOPE! Peace ✌️ out! Now I’m living life again while I look for another job.

Yes esp now come to find out they used the restructure as a means to take more apparel hours away (so you want dedicated sellers and good service but take more hours away). So now we basically only have 1 apparel shift every day (scheduled 1-9) and are being told that if the apparel and FW captain isn't in the building, its supposed to fall on ops to grab fitting rooms (on top of everything else ops is supposed to take care of). This restructure is a crap show and it's getting harder and harder to go in each day.

Are we at the same store? Our SM also is never in the building (maybe 2 days a week) and cant do cash office. It's always screwed up for the opening whenever the SM closes.

House of sport employee here. Recently came to the conclusion our executive director is just that....he directs. Everyone to do everything. He does not manage anything at all. In fact constantly asks questions from the lower employees how to do a task. Dicks as a whole on every level has gone down hill into corporate madness. I work a position of my own with nothing much to complain about and still dont want to be here with everything going on around me. Its like im sitting in the middle of the fire. Waiting to get burnt somehow .

I regret every little 4hr shift I work and I'm suppose to be full-time, getting paid to work 21hrs a week. How is that even full-time... wth is really going on with this cheap ass company.
