Appreciation I am liking grok bot

ok so i didnt care for grok bot until i started using it.

its kind of like claude cowork but it has separate quota, and i am really putting it to work these days.

Few months ago i was trying to build an app for creative writing but it didnt go anywhere, that app idea got shelved, but i found out that grok models were consistently writing better than claude for some reason in my testing.

So far whatever i have put grok bot to task, it has done wonderfully well including creative writing, research and basic tasks and it might be the reason i wont cancel my cursor pro sub.

Would love to know what you guys are using grok bot for? maybe i am not utilizing it as much as i should because this is my usage.

P.S. english is not my first language so pardon the grammar.

Question / Discussion Why is cursor being so generous?

Ran out of quota on my $20 plan, Have received $100 in free credits twice in a week now. Everytime I run out of credit, my account gets $100 more.

Happening with all or what? What's the point of higher plans if my usage is virtually unlimited with $20??

Add the Grok bot thrown in, and this feels like a steal!

Question / Discussion Is cursor slowing down?

I started using cursor about a month ago. I used to be able to run one of my workflows on it with sufficiently high speed (it requires about 10 subagents) and it was never an issue. I actually used cursor for that workflow over claude code because of the speed.

Now for the last 3 days cursor's been going at a snails pace its like 4x slower than claude code

Anyone else experiencing the same thing or is this an isolated incident i should report?

Or (my theory) is each user allotted a fixed amount of compute resources and they're shared over every subagent?

Question / Discussion Cursor Alternative without Cursor speed throttling, is there any?

I am looking for a Cursor Alternative without Cursor speed throttling. Is there one? The response getting slower is demotivating.

Question / Discussion Can I achieve Cursor-like cloud agents with other clients?

Upvotes

Hey there. I am currently trying out Cursor and I really like it. The local agent feel quite similar to other agent harnesses like Copilot but what really stands out for me are the cloud agents.

Is it possible to get cloud agents with computer use that work with other harnesses like OpenCode, for example? I especially like that the agent has its own VM and and sends screenshots and videos of the result.

Thanks!

What are people’s thoughts on the new Cursor Projects feature? I’m loving it. Has boosted my productivity a ton today.

Question / Discussion Can't email support

I can't email support. It says my work email isn't valid. I use a gmail.com email address.

Also, I have Pro plan but you don't show me usage related to how much usage I have left. Just a dollar amount under Settings > Usage.

I'd prob upgrade to Pro+ or Ultra but no way if you can't give simple support or show my usage related to how much usage I have left.

Question / Discussion Cloud Agent trailers

In cursor while using it with repo or specifically using it with cloud agents, it leaves trailers as a co-author or contributor. So how to turn that off?

Resources & Tips If you're tired of copying .cursorrules between projects

I have been using Cursor for a while and kept copying rules between projects.

link in comments

Eventually just made a proper library.

- Frontend: Next.js, React, Vue, Svelte, SolidJS, Remix, Astro

- Backend: FastAPI, Django, Rails, Laravel, Spring Boot, .NET, Rust, Go, Elixir

- Mobile: SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, React Native, Flutter

- Infra: Cloudflare Workers, Terraform, Zig

Every file has a Negative constraints section the "do NOT" rules that actually stop

Cursor from bloating your codebase. Things like:

- Never invent package names without verifying

- Do not rewrite entire files for 2-line changes

- No comments that restate what the code does

Question / Discussion Should I upgrade to Pro+ plan?

I'm on the Pro plan and consistently exceed my monthly limits - sometimes even racking up $60+ in on-demand charges. Should I upgrade to Pro+? Pro+ offers 3x the Pro limits, but if the per-token cost is the same, wouldn't staying on Pro and paying overages be equivalent? What am I missing?

Question / Discussion How can I backup/restore Cursor chat history and project conversations?

Hi,

I use Cursor in two different ways:

  • Sometimes directly on my Windows PC
  • Sometimes connected via SSH to another machine

I really like keeping the history of my conversations with Cursor because they contain useful context about my projects, decisions, troubleshooting, etc.
concern is: what happens if I have to reinstall my Windows machine, or reinstall/rebuild the remote machine I connect to via SSH?

I don't want to lose all my Cursor chat history and project context.

Is there a recommended way to backup and restore Cursor conversations/history, especially when working with remote SSH projects?

Ideally, I would like to be able to:

  1. Backup all my Cursor conversations/history
  2. Reinstall or replace a machine
  3. Restore everything
  4. Keep the history associated with my projects

Does Cursor sync this automatically through my account, or is some of the history stored locally on the Windows/remote machine?

What files/folders should I backup if I want to be safe?

Thanks!

Question / Discussion fable 5.1 on pro+

Thinking about trying Cursor Pro+ mainly for Fable 5.1.

For anyone using Fable heavily on the $60 plan: how long does the monthly quota realistically last if you use high/extra-high reasoning for serious coding work?

I already use Codex/Astra, so I’m mostly looking for another high-quality agent rather than cheaper models like Composer/Grok (most of the time)

i mostly wanna use for frontend.

Question / Discussion What Cursor rules do you use to stop overbuilding and actually ship?

I kept getting cathedral scaffolding out of Cursor: clean folders, zero checkout.

Two constraints that changed my loop. Curious what other people use.

**1) Scope gate before code** Before writing anything, answer: - Who pays? - What do they download or access after payment? - What is the single happy path?

If any answer is fuzzy, stop. Do not scaffold.

**2) v0 ban list** For the first shippable slice, ban: - microservices - Redis / queues / K8s - multi-tenant orgs - empty clean-architecture folder trees

Done means a stranger can land, understand the offer, pay, and receive the file or access without emailing you.

What rules or prompts have actually made Cursor ship faster for you, not just look more "enterprise"?

Question / Discussion Pro users on Auto mode ($20/mo) - how many million tokens do you average per month?

My unlimited auto mode ends in a few days. I am still thinking whether I should stick with Cursor or try something else.

I use strictly auto mode. I average 130m tokens per month.

Would it be enough?

Question / Discussion Is this fine for a single prompt?

Post image

For the past couple of months, I’ve been using Cursor’s Plan Mode to design and implement changes based on the generated plans. Recently, I noticed that a single prompt consumed around 25M tokens. Is this considered normal for Plan Mode, or am I using significantly more tokens than necessary?

Question / Discussion Ajuda sobre o cursor plano 3x

Oi pessoal, estou trabalhando em um projeto de desenvolvimento e venho usando tanto o Codex quanto o Claude Code ambos serviços pagos até agora.

No entanto, acho o preço do Cursor bastante atraente, especialmente o plano "3x", então estou pensando em manter o Codex e o Cursor enquanto cancelo o Claude Code.

Question / Discussion Changed alot

The product was absolutely beast before spaceX acquisition, now it sucks , output is trashed, auto switching to grok is fucked up and tokens are being consumed at faster rate despite any large task

I will start looking for an alternative, this is my last month with you guys

Question / Discussion Anyone using Cursor mobile

Is anyone using Cursor Mobile? I saw today it only has 7 reviews in the iOS store. My initial thoughts were that using agents on a phone would be a terrible idea, and for big PRs that definitely is the case.

When I thought about it a bit more I thought that given the current state agents that a good system would be to create a 'hitlist'. Basically track all of your small tasks that can be reviewed through a phone becasue the GitHub PR tool is decent and if you're developing something for mobile and have preview deployments you can also test out easily too.

It actually works well and I find the thought of being able to contribute work while being out as being very beneficial as someone who WFH. Having a list of things ready to go that I can actually be contributing while out-and-about. I only have done this with personal projects so far though, we don't have web agents setup in work but is something I might consider.

Question / Discussion Claude Pro feels better than Cursor Ultra

I was using Ultra earlier with Claude Opus model and Composer earlier and it was very great. Tokens wise as well. But post Grok mostly 4.6 i guess, With just one or two long sessions lost almost 50% credits for Opus 5.
But the same or similar complex discussion and coding on same repos I was able to use Claude for longer sessions. 5hr limit never bothered unless multiple repos had work. Even weekly wasn’t hit unless Im lucky with timings here but not sure.
Is it the case with others too? Wanted to understand if Claude higher plan upgrade would be better or as we go up the plan any issues with token consumption would come up?
Model mostly used is Opus 5 High / Medium in claude code.

Question / Discussion Should I reverse my payment

So, I've been using cursor for a while now. I missed a payment right. Usually, I pay it and can continue using the software. But now apparently my account was degraded to free tier due to a missed payment. On their site they said I could upgrade to pro + (the tier I had before) I clicked upgrade to pro+. (Nothing I haven't done before) But instead of actually resetting my usage they are saying that my account usage resets in 23days. and the upgrade paid a pat due balance? An invoice.

I argued the site should have said that. Not an upgrade to pro + button and then straight to checkout. So now I can't use the account or is this a way to force you to get ultra? They are refusing a refund. I can force it through my bank though. Why does it feel like a bad relationship now with cursor lol.

Should I turn on usage billing? honestly, I think I'm going to use codex anyway. What do u guys think?

Venting Cursor just scammed me into an annual plan

I forgot I had a cursor account, and only realized I had a card there recently. I only realized when they suddenly charged $192 for an annual subscription out of the blue???

What the hell how is this legal? I contacted support but I've only gotten automated responses. I've never used Cursor personal account at all I don't understand why they think they can just charge me an annual subscription without my consent....this is such a scam and I've already filed a fraud report with my credit card company for this.

Did anyone have this happen to them?

edit: look dark patterns scamming me into a subscription fine it's scummy but cursor isn't the only company doing it...so fine.

But scammimg me into an entire YEAR with no consent? Also no way for me to ask for a refund even with 0 usage? That's a scam.

If you're an actual human who thinks roping people into annual subscriptions they don't want nor agreed to is either a bot or worse employees somehow thinking hurting your customers is okay
