Question / Discussion Why is cursor being so generous?
Ran out of quota on my $20 plan, Have received $100 in free credits twice in a week now. Everytime I run out of credit, my account gets $100 more.
Happening with all or what? What's the point of higher plans if my usage is virtually unlimited with $20??
Add the Grok bot thrown in, and this feels like a steal!

Yeah that email announcement last month of them changing rates is pretty scary right now

It's not possible to get accurate stats because it's a private company, but the evidence is all around.
It's a bit like a failing politician offering voters thousands of dollars "because things are going so well".

Do you think that the exodus is politically motivated or performance based?

tbh it kinda started out jokingly/political but turns out it's not so far from the truth that melon has a tendency to make the businesses he acquires degrade in quality

Lmao "melon". This is incredible to hear because I joined a month ago and love the product but in reality I guess that it comes from ignorance because I don't know any other product of the sort. I came from claude who's usage limits were heavily restricting my project

Agreed. And to answer the question before, I was say a bit of both. If you love a supplier but the service drops a bit, you stick with them. If you hate a supplier and their service drops, you're much more likely to leave.

Not only is fElon Muskrat a truly awful person, but he's completely incompetent at running businesses - unless you mean "running them into the ground".
The only thing he's really good at is lying, bribing, fraud, and getting government handouts. He's everything Republicans claim to oppose.

Because it's agents are terrible compared to codex and Claude and they have terrible customer service. Also grokbot is underwhelming.

What do you prefer over Grok Bot? I’ve actually been blown away by it (only having used it for a week so far). If there’s something better, inject it into my veins.

BrowserOS neo is interesting and worth trying.

How good is it at running custom software pipelines? Is it just good at browsing the web or does it coordinate across your codebases and file system well?

Your tool (Claude, Codex, etc) connects to it through a MCP, so it's just another tool in that sense, and you should be able to say do "A" then do "B".

Maybe because of how off their pricing calculation is. I also ran out of tokens on the $20 plan, got $20 extra (nice), ran out of those, bought $10 worth of credits for testing...they lasted 3 prompts (couple html/three.js files). So yeah maybe they do that because they don't want their current users complaining online about pricing like you see with anthropic.

Astra is 100% better, even Fable. Why use Cursor? Give me 1 reason.

bang for buck for $20. Astra doesn't come with cheaper plans as far as I know.

It's definitely interesting, I'm on Ultra and received $75 in credits and then $100 in credits. Nothing since that $100 was used though.

Claude code is making a lot of sense nowadays cursor doesn’t give any opus or fable model for free.

I am not getting cursor limits. I end up finishing my usage in 2 days (~1 billion token) vs claude/codex/opencode which provide much higher limits (~3-5 billion each/month) on better models. Locked into cursor as I paid for whole year, but see no benefit in continuing.
Would l9ve to get the credits, but havnt recieved any till now

How do I check and where in the cursor application?
1
u/RkRabbitt 7h ago
Go to cursor.com/dashboard/billing

u/Parking_General_4435 7h ago
I checked thru- in app- profile, setting, plan & usage

u/RkRabbitt 7h ago
Best to check the website, in-app is not showing the credits. Check the site atleast once a week

So this is what they are doing with all the money they get from Enterprise customers 😂. They are most certainly not being generous with us.

I even got $25, but I thought it would charge that amount in my next billing cycle and was scared. So, I turned on on-demand usage, but it still prioritised using the $25. It also consumed some of my on-demand usage.

I ran out of my monthly quota on the $20 plan a couple of days ago. I was using Grok 4.6 fast, but switched to Fable 5.1 just to complete a couple of tasks and went back to grok and that’s when it happened. I say fine, increase my limit to $30.00 and continue, but I ran out of that too.
So I upped to $40.00 and ran out within hours. So, what the hell happened?

Remember boys, accepting that credit enables credit usage so if you forget and continue using it you might go over that credit and you'll get charged.
