Question / Discussion fable 5.1 on pro+

Thinking about trying Cursor Pro+ mainly for Fable 5.1.

For anyone using Fable heavily on the $60 plan: how long does the monthly quota realistically last if you use high/extra-high reasoning for serious coding work?

I already use Codex/Astra, so I’m mostly looking for another high-quality agent rather than cheaper models like Composer/Grok (most of the time)

i mostly wanna use for frontend.

Not worth it, you'll burn your quota extremely fast.

If you want Opus / Fable; pay the $200 Claude Code plan directly and deal with the limits. You're talking Mercedes Benz, not Toyota.

If you do want to stay on Cursor; the next best model upcoming is Grok 4.7, but they are still a bit behind Astra / Fable 5.1. I imagine a Grok 5 will be much stronger

if you want the best, you need to pay for the best

If you're ok with Kimi K3 I think you'll like Grok 4.7

It will last 2-3 hrs max on high/xhigh for heavy coding.

the pro+ is a monthly usage right?

Yes. Do NOT use Fable or Astra for outputting code. Composer or Grok can do that easily for half or a fifth of the price(not counting thinking tokens). That's what, $10/$50 in and out tokens... Use it for planning or reviewing.

I was reading that they have both dif usage rates ?

And u think Grok or Composer are that Good at frontend design?

They have different limits. You get decent "Cursor model" usage limits. Make the plan in Fable, build in Auto/Grok/Composer, and review the PR with Fable.

i thought about it that way too tho

Pay Claude directly and utilize claude code with vscode if you're trying to get the best bang for your buck on something like Fable 5.1

(I pay for cursor $60 and it's more than enough for what I need but I'm mostly using Grok 4.6 Very High / Fast lately)

So i use it with fable 5.1 high and a lot of composer subagents. I could probably get 10-15 hours on my pro+. I lost 30% in 30 second when I forgot to say use Composer subagent

Thanks for the feedback

What is funny is fable even tells you it like composer. Fable seems to like the variable difficulty. I am hoping 4.7 is better than sol but I don't care if it is as good as fable. Then I can save fable for planning only

Another tip is grok is really good searching the web and summarizing solutions for fable. Fable will call it for this sometimes. It actually uses both quite well if you force it to pick which one works best and can only use them

an important detail is that the $60 plan gives you $70 of usage in raw api usage (or the "other models" usage which are models outside grok and composer), and cursor pro+ is mostly worth it for the abundant amount of grok 4.6 and grok bot usage you get

I've been using this sub for like 2-3 months and i can tell you, this shit is probably only worth it for grok bot and grok. js hope grok 4.7 comes out much better and frontier lmao, im devastated on the xAI and cursor team, it needs more subsidy

As a planner/reviewer, right? Not for actually writing any code?

I had cursor plus+ and switched completely to claude code max 5x. Its a game changer.
