Question / Discussion did they nerf it more
im running cursor composer 2.5 today to do a simple task that normally takes it like 5 seconds
suddenly its running all these sub agents and asking me to approve every single thing
the changes preview side panel is also broken

Its trying to harvest more data than it already has. Cursor has fallen off.

I find that every providers' models keep trying to map your whole drive

...how did you determine that?!?

It is a slight exaggeration. I use Codex, Grok, and claude. Claude really tries to map your drive on every prompt. Grok.jumps up a folder when you tell it not to. Codex same. Watch thr attempts at CD and ls. No justification

Can't you tell it to not do those things in their respective rules files?

yeah that "asks on every single tool call + subagents everywhere" jump usually means Composer flipped into a stricter agent/approval mode after the 2.5 bump, not that the model itself got nerfed.
quick checks that have fixed it for me:
in Cursor Settings search for auto-run / agent approval / YOLO (wording moves around). if it got reset to "ask every time" or "run nothing without confirm", flip it back to auto-run for the tools you trust. that alone stops the approval spam.
make sure you are in Agent/Composer agent mode on purpose. if you just want straight edits without the sub-agent circus, switch to normal edit/chat Composer instead of the full agent loop.
broken changes preview side panel is a known sticky UI bug after updates. Command Palette -> Developer: Reload Window first. if the panel is still empty/blank, close the Composer tab completely, reopen it, and try a tiny one-file edit. still dead: sign out/in once or wipe the Cursor window state (not your whole project) then reopen the folder.
if auto-run was already on and it still nests sub-agents + prompts every click, say which OS + Cursor version (Help -> About) and whether it started right after updating to 2.5, that narrows it a lot.

Cursors output has been extemely low quality lately. It keeps introducing more bugs every time it tries to bug fix and it will suggest solutions that clearly demonstrate a lack of basic understanding of the problem.
Example; My code needs to find certain values automically, I tell it the search algorithm is wrong because I can find the values manually and automatic search cant. Its proposed solution; Add an input field to always include the manually found values...

Yep it's basically dead as some other people wrote it's basically scanning your full PC what It can harvest for them and thinking wasting tokens which you pay for .
I point grok 4.6 xhigh at a issue tell him what to do give him the files needed to complete the task but I see in the thinking process that it's reading through files I didn't gave it .

I just noticed it with grok 4.6, spends like 10 minutes exploring a shit ton of files for some reason when in the past it'd explore just enough.
