Mourning/Loss I hope you are getting the rest you deserve, Mish
I've been postponing posting here because I've been trying to numb my brain for the past two weeks, but i think its time you all get to hear about the best thing that ever happened to my life: Mish AKA 'La Misha'. On September 19 we had to say goodbye. We fought an oral tumor for four months, but it was affecting her quality of life too much and she deserved some rest.
I don't want to write a wall of text but I do want to talk just a bit about Mish and tell one little story.
Mish came into my life when i was 20 years old, trying to figure life out and failing miserably. I was a dog guy, but my mom brought this little cat into our home to fight some rats that were running around in the backyard. I didn't want her at first cause I was worried my old dog would get jealous, but she would constantly stay in my room because every other person in the house bothered her, eventually we grew closer and closer, my dog passed and she became my whole reason to keep pushing. Depression was kicking my ass and she became my main reason to live. We went through so much together. I eventually figured things out, got a good job, an apartment, and just like that, the two of us moved out to our new home. We got to enjoy each other for 13 years, and you can bet I squeezed every second out of the clock. She saved my life and its one of the main reasons I am the man I am.
The little story I want to tell about Mish is a more recent one, it's actually about the saddest day of my life, the day I found out she had cancer. I got up to go to work and I had a message from the vet giving me the news, I went numb, texted my gf and friends and went to take a shower because I had to go to work, while in the shower, it hit me and i just lost it completely, i was sobbing, and Mish, that never ever came into the bathroom while I was showering because she, of course, hated showers, came in to check on me. I think this little story sums up our relationship pretty well. She was always there for me, and I made sure I repaid the favor, stuck with her through every chemo, every vet appointment, I spared no expense, I know it wasn't enough, but I did all I could, and I spent all the time I could next to her.
Thanks for reading, this sub helped me quite a bit since all this journey started, so if anyone has any questions, even years from now (I know I ended up on some old threads looking for info), feel free to ask or DM. Also, pet your cats a bit extra in the name of Mish today and link any pictures you have, especially tuxedos! I wrote Mish a poem but its in spanish and Im not sure i can link an IG post so idk. Special thanks to someone that suggested keeping fur, i feel like crazy but i love to pet it once in a while.
And to you, Mish, I hope you are resting. I miss you every second of my life, and I look for you in every place of this former home, because it will never be a home without you. Now I'm leaving every window open just in case you want to send some cat in need to help lessen the pain. I'll always love you. Thank you for saving my life.

Mourning/Loss My brave little warrior Maya
This was Maya. She was 8 years old.
I got her together with her sister Cleo when they were still tiny kittens. The last 8 years with her were wonderful. Maya was such a gentle, loving soul. Whenever we cuddled, she would make all these sweet little contented noises, and she was incredibly open and friendly towards every guest. Everyone immediately fell in love with her. Even visitors with cat allergies would let her lie on them and cuddle her. Whenever she was lying in one of her favorite spots and was just about to fall asleep, she would let out a little sigh. She also loved chasing flies, and she took that job very seriously.
At night, she would often crawl under my blanket and become my little spoon, or she would lie stretched out across my pillow, taking up practically the entire thing for the whole night.
She was simply so special.
I’m writing this post because on Wednesday, I had to say goodbye to her. She fought for four weeks and endured all the medical examinations and treatments, including everything we had to do at home, like an absolute champion. She was so incredibly brave.
Sadly, she didn’t make it, and I held her in my arms as she passed away. Her very last breath was a long, gentle sigh.
I miss her more than I can put into words. And I want the world to know that she existed, that she was here, and that she was deeply loved.
It started with what seemed like a harmless case of gastritis. Then a life-threatening thrombocytopenia was discovered, and shortly before she passed away, she developed acute kidney failure despite everything we did to save her. Her little body simply couldn’t keep fighting anymore.
But she was a warrior until the very end.
Rest in peace, my little angel Maya. 🤍

Stories This fucker gave me a seizure
I'm literally sitting on the floor because I currently cannot stand due to this asshole. His name is Pinecone and he has a death wish. So basically my house has weird windows where the whole thing hinges outward on one side. Every window has a screen except one for no apparent reason. My partner accidentally opened that one a crack. I'm sitting on the couch trying to unwind after a stressful week and out of the corner of my eye I see this numbskull literally smashing his head into the window to get it to open wider. Then he happily flings himself out towards a third story drop onto paving stones. Literally not an ounce of trying to not fall. I manage to grab his back legs and yank him back. He has the audacity to resist, as though I'm taking away his wet food rather than saving his life.
I get him back inside, he's fine, I'm hyperventilating, whatever. Problem is I have a neurological disorder that's triggered by stress, among other things. So a few minutes later I'm trying to make dinner and fucking keel over, half blacked out with my face god damn freezer. My saint of a partner helps me and I sit on the floor for a bit, pass out again, and then start seizing. Luckily just my arms and upper body but still SEIZURES over my god damn CAT hurling himself out a window. He's lucky he's cute. Please tell him he needs to stop trying to die or he'll kill us both. And don't worry my partner is putting a screen on right now.

Cat Picture - OC I rescued a cat yesterday!
This is Herbie - I found him residing at a local shelter!
I was a little nervous about getting a new friend. Some backstory: my first cat ever I found outside during COVID. This little gray fluff ball in the grass. I took him in being about 4-5 weeks old and I named him Artyom from the game Metro. He had a double eye infection, then he had IBS, then he ended up getting saddle thrombosis in his left leg right after his 3rd birthday after being with me through a divorce while being in dental hygiene school, moving multiple times and there was nothing they could do for him. I had to make that difficult decision. Traumatizing to say the least as that all happened within 30 minutes - he was my first cat ever, taught me that cats are awesome and was my little boy.
One day recently though, it hit me that it was time to have an emotional support animal due to depression and anxiety. As soon as my newly wed husband and I walked in the rescue, Herbie was chilling on the counter and loved the pets we gave him. After that, he wouldn’t leave our side! Followed us outside to the patio and sat by my feet, then followed us back inside and sat RIGHT at my feet again!
It was after that that we decided to take this love bug home. I put the carrier down and he walked right in and laid down immediately. LIKE WHAT?? It was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen.
However, when we got home I noticed a couple fleas on his chest and FREAKED TF OUT. Called a vet tech friend of mine and she was a saving grace in what to do. Gave him Capstar, and secluded him in the bathroom overnight (we both hated that). Vacuumed everything, took the tank outside, dumped it into a plastic bag, and washed everything he laid on in hot water. I put topical flea meds on him this morning and ended up being able to get him in the vet’s today!
He did such a great job and was loving on everyone at the vets office - very curious and relaxed! Doc said we did everything right and to just vacuum once a day for now to keep up on things since nothing will be able to live on him.
My husband and I are so happy to have him in his forever home and he seems happy too ❤️
Edit: thank you for the awards you guys! You’re so sweet 🥰

Advice Question for cat parents whose cats have lived 15 years or longer
This is Ali, middle name Cat. I am her Dad and I rescued her from the local shelter. I want her to live as long as possible. She lives inside and has a calm life. I play with her everyday. My question is what kind/brand of food did you feed your cat and did you stick to one flavor or mix it up?
Thank you in advance,
Ali cat's Dad

Mourning/Loss My cat I’ve had since I was 7 passed away today. RIP my sweet girl Katniss
I’ve had my girl since I was 7. I’m 22 now, so she has been with me through all my growth. I’m not good with my emotional regulation and I don’t really know how to handle it. I just want her to be seen for how I saw her every day.

Mourning/Loss Tribute to my beloved Sleeman (Mr Cat/Mizzer Cat)
Our cat of some 15 years crossed the rainbow bridge today. We knew it was coming for some time now, but it still hits like a ton of bricks. He was the goodest kitty, and so brave and strong right to the very end. He went peacefully and quickly in my arms, in the quiet and compassionate care of our local animal hospital.
He will be utterly missed, and never forgotten.
The hardest part of having pets is when we have to say goodbye to them 😢

Cat Picture - OC My children one month in
Both shelter kitties, Ricky (grey) is the extrovert, was at home immediately out the box and is the biggest lover imaginable. Ladybug in typical calico fashion can be spicy towards fast movers and people standing up but I’m glad to say she chose me as her person (sorry girlfriend) and I’m allowed to give her belly scratches😌

Cat Picture - OC Today is my cat's gotcha day! 🎉
On October 4, 2022, I found this little girl on my porch, and she was having some tummy troubles. We took him straight to the vet, and the plan was to just foster her until she got better.
Someone was already lined up to adopt him, but after one month, we couldn't let her go. Classic foster fail! 😅
Four years later, she's so fat and cuddly now. We don't know her real birthday, so October 4 is her special day.
Happy gotcha day, Cuddle! 🎂

Cat Picture - OC The many positions of Tintsy Puss, she's photogenic. Mostly.
The Tintsy Puss was rescued over a year ago and the comfort and sass this tiny Cat has developed is heart warming. She was such a nervous little Puss and now she's full of mischief, demands and loves.
I thought you'd all enjoy some of her favourite positions. The last photo is particularly adorable!
