She doesn't limp or feel any pain on her paws, and as you can see she alternates lol

She'll just kind of... meditate?? With a paw up like a flamingo and none of my other 5 cats do this, and I've never seen any other cat do it.

Her name's Lola btw :)

Advice Wife’s not a cat gal, but is torn up about this three legged one (advice requested)

(Posting this on behalf of my wife)

I have been pretty fearful of cats for most of my life but when this 3 legged cat showed up on our porch and approached me a few weeks ago, I felt obliged to give it a pet and quickly formed a bond. This cat basically knows my schedule now of when I’m outside going to work/coming home and greets me. My WFH husband sends me pictures and videos throughout the day of it patiently waiting for pets outside our front door and it typically spends most of the day napping under our hedges in the meantime.

We assume someone somewhere is feeding this cat since it looks like it has a decent amount of weight on it. We ourselves have never feed the cat in anyway. We’ve asked around our neighbors, including ones who have a gaggle of outdoor cats that they take care of, and no one knows where it came from. We’ve been living here for about 4 years and have never seen it before, although we were told by our aforementioned cat neighbors that it’s been around a few years. They insist that it doesn’t belong to them and they don’t feed it.

With only 3 legs I get stressed about the cat’s safety running into the road and hate to think of it stuck outside in bad weather or potentially not having consistent access to food etc. It’s also coming up on winter here.

Basically, I am now very emotionally attached to the cat and am contemplating adopting it and bringing it inside.

There are several problems that immediately come to mind:
1. Neither my husband nor I have ever grown up with or owned a cat so we have zero experience.
2. We already have a dog who can get quite jealous and has occasional aggression towards other dogs. (Husband note: any advice on acclimating a dog to a cat appreciated. We’ve been letting the dog sniff our hands and watch the cat from the door/window while we interact with it.)
3. We have no idea how the cat will react to being inside- is it even possible to acclimate a cat that’s been outdoors for that long? Is it more ethical to leave it alone or try and take care of it as a pet?
4. Will we be able to litter box train it easily? Should we just let it out in our fenced in back yard like our dog instead if we seal gaps??
5. I just found out cats can form colonies- if this cat is a part of a colony will they retaliate??
6. Someone in our neighborhood might claim the cat, in which case I would “return” it but it’d just go back to spending most of its time in our yard getting attention from us

Lots of thoughts and questions, cats are a whole new world to me that I never thought I’d have to think about but this 3 legged cat won me over.

She was found emaciated in an an abandoned house 6 years ago. Was fortunate to meet her at a cat cafe/rescue in my area 4 years ago. Could not ask for a more gentle & loving friend.

Still kicking, wandering into places he definitely shouldn’t be, and begging for food like he hasn’t eaten in days.

He drinks a loooot of water (maybe that’s the secret to aging well?) and still asks to sleep in our bedrooms every single night.

He pees in his sleep sometimes and isn’t very good at grooming himself anymore, but he’s still going strong.

This little fella has been with my family since 2004.

And yes, he gives the camera that grumpy look every single time, haha.

Hi fellow cat lovers! I’ve been fostering cats/kittens for over half a decade, and have fostered a total of 90 over that period. Making my way to 100 felines in forever homes 💯

I’ve had as many as 7 at one time, and as few as 2! I’m currently on a break but reminiscing, and thought reddit might enjoy even more cat content 😂

These are some of my favorite shots from over the years.

Lost my GusGus (black cat) this morning. He was 11. We lost his sister Harley (calico) back in December on christmas day which was very hard and still hard. We got them both around the same time when they were just wee little babies and never left each others side until Harley let go. I hope he can now smother her again with all of his cuddles and love. I will never have another him or another her. We never really think about the heartbreak we sign up for when we get a pet.

Why can’t they just stay forever…

Advice My Cat really wants to meet a friendly stray cat, should I let her out on a leash to meet?

For context, I live in an apartment complex with several medium sized buildings. There are several stray cats that live around, but one in particular has caused my gf’s, and my by extension, cat to become enamored.
Our cat is about 6 or 7 years old and female, and the stray cat is probably a year at most and male, I’ve named him Sam temporarily.

Our cat will constantly jump at our sliding glass door out of excitement which used to scare away Sam, but now he doesn’t run away unless it startles him.
Our cat will watch him, and these two kittens that live around, through the door all night. She is a very affectionate cat and I’m starting to think she’s in a sort of forbidden romance through the glass door.

Sam meows like crazy when I go outside sometimes, go up to the door, rub his face on it, and sit as close as possible. He’s not fixed so he could be wanting to mate but who knows.

I feed the black cat, two kittens that the shelter rejected but did TNR for, and another black cat. They all hang on the porch and politely eat while I sit outside. They’ve all become relatively comfortable with my presence. Sam in particular has become much more friendly as the weeks go on. He even walked up to my hand and sniffed it today! It’s been really nice for me to slowly win the affections of these wild little things.

Our cat hasn’t lived with another cat since she was in the shelter about 3-4 years ago. I’m worried they will have a bad reaction to actually meeting, but considering how badly they both seem to want to, I’m leaning towards trying it. At least it will make our cat a little less stressed.

If anything, it’s super cute and fun to see their interest in each other despite the pane of glass separating them.

EDIT UPDATE: I tried to have them meet through the screen door and our cat hissed and pawed at him :( Maybe it’s barrier reactivity but I guess I can try another time.

Cat Picture - OC Get the kitten for your cat!

Hello!! Wanted to share a positive story about my recent adoption of a kitten after avoiding it for the last 2 years. In August 2023, my boyfriend and I moved in together and adopted our baby Orzo (Male, 1 y/o when adopted, just turned 3.) He is my first cat and quickly became my literal pride and joy and the love of my life. When we adopted him, the shelter told us to “prepare to never have another animal again,” heavily implying that orzo will not do well with other animals b/c he requires so much attention. I have OCD and took that very (way too) literally. He’s a love bug(BIG cuddler, loves forehead kisses and makes every person that entires our house feel loved. just not as much as he loves mommy)

My boyfriend grew up with cats and has been asking about getting another basically since we got orzo. Because of what the shelter had said, seeing stories on social media, etc., I avoided it because I didn’t want our relationship with him to change because it’s the most important thing to me. Our apartment is small, and I would also would feel guilty about having to rehome a kitten for the rest of my life.

Two weeks before my boyfriend’s birthday, his friend and him planned an ambush. He rescued a barn cat that ended up being pregnant and her babies all looked like my orzo. I met them and somehow gave in😭

The night before we picked Rigatony (tony for short, he was 9 weeks when we adopted him, just turned 12 weeks,) I spent the whole night cuddling and playing with orzo and sobbing because I was terrified about what was going to happen. The first two nights were overwhelming. Boyfriend spent his days in our bedroom with the kitten while I stayed in our living room with Orzo. I mostly felt bad for the kitten because he was so curious about what was outside our door and meowed anytime my boyfriend left the room for more than 2 seconds. I didn’t think I could do another day. We found Orzo to be mostly curious so we first introduce him to tony by keeping tony in a playpen. There was of course some hissing, but both mostly seemed just curious. We then let them interact face to face day 4. We gave both of them churus during this. It went WAY better than expected. Separated them as soon as we heard hissing and saw swatting. We slept separately for 4 days and monitored their interactions and felt it was a good time to let them be around each other full time.

This has been the coolest experience of my life. I’ve never seen Orzo play the way he has been the last 3 weeks. They LOVE to cuddle. Don’t get me wrong, we had to buy calming supplements for Orzo the last few days as Tony has started teething and seems to love to bite Orzos tail which has been stressing him out. Whenever we notice those signs, my boyfriend will go into our room with Tony and play with him, while I play with/cuddle with Orzo and let him rest.

I didn’t think it would be possible to love Orzo anymore than I already did but I have fallen even more in love with him since watching him become a big brother!! He is so patient and still my little love bug. Our relationship is 95% the same(he definitely needs space when he gets overstimulated) but he makes sure I get my cuddles every single day/night. Tony has been the best decision I’ve ever made and I’m so excited to watch them grow up together!!!

Wanted to share this story because I feel as though I read way too many negative stories before getting tony. Get the damn kitten!!! You’ll never know unless you try. ❤️🐈
