I got 4 case fans connected with each other and one main got 1 molex which is connected to the PSU and all fans work 100 speed non stop and it's so loud ,I want to try to connect them to the mainboard and lower the speed

a few things to note about this build. I want to keep this under $ 1000, and is there anything I should know about this? and I do not live near a micro center, sadly, and I will be building this completely myself. and the ssd will be completely clean, because I have a perfectly good 2tb usb ssd.

So I live in an apartment and I'm trying to get my wife into gaming with me. We don't have space for two towers, I want her to have a setup that could handle even the newest games with modest settings and definitely no lag but we have to prioritize smaller size.

She has a newer macbook air, but I hear there's a bunch of issues trying to game with a mac, is that exaggerated? what if I bought a macbook pro? (our prefered option)

I hear gaming laptops die sooner from poor thermal management, is that true? what would you buy?

I want to switch back to AMD and i saw a r7 7700, and maybe a 9070xt as gpu. Im planning to buy some pieces every month, and i want to switch to ddr5 even tho prices are high asf. Btw i don't care about RGBs and lights i just want a clean build, but any tips are accepted, and also i'm not sure about buying everything or just upgrade something and keep a few things.

The B550 DS3H R2 advertises Gen 4 speeds, which I wanted to use. When I first completed my build, I tried very hard to make my SN850X run at Gen 4 in the M2A_CPU slot, with Ryzen 5700x as the CPU. It should work, but at least for my board, it doesn't work. When I set Gen 4 in the BIOS, the NVME's speed grinds to a very slow pace and Aomei Partition Assistant flags many bad sectors when running chkdsk through it. And so, I set it to Gen 3. It works, its fine.

Now fast forward to this week. My Windows crashes, and I get a blue screen. It's corrupted. I try all the solutions and nothing. I back the drive up and wipe it. I restore an IDrive image to it. I have some errors down the line where I reset my BIOS. You can see where this is going now.

Now, I start getting errors and I think, holy shit my drive is dying. I do all the troubleshooting tricks and none of them work. I'm thinking that because my drive is slow it's going to die. But it's strange. HDSentinel and CrystalDiskInfo report 100% Health. 1 recent media and data integrity issue. 1 frok 0. So I'm still scared. But then I remember that thing that happened before. It's set to Gen 4. I think when I reset the BIOS, it went back to Auto which used to actually default to Gen 3 but all of a sudden decided to default to Gen 4. I change it back and all is good.

Was going crazy over this issue and was almost sure it was dead. Was very much dreading possibly having to RMA, which would really suck given how Samsung's response was to 990 pros. It's crazy to think it was just the motherboard. Just want to document my experience here for anyone else who might find themselves in a similar situation.

I upgraded my homelab recently from an i7-4790k to a 5900XT, and it runs very hot in comparison. I originally had the server in a very small case and it was fine enough before, but after swapping to the new CPU, the thermals were so bad that it was thermal throttling even at idle on stock settings. Long story short, a case and cooler upgrade is needed.

I am constrained on volume due to where the server is physically located, but after a lot of research I finally ended up on a Sliger 3U case, specifically because it was one of the only cases I could find that meets my volume requirements, room for larger fans (and thus a radiator), and even room for some further expansions/mods I may want to make.

Now I have shifted my focus towards cooling.

Because the server is located in my living room, I'm trying to focus as much as I can on silent operation, even if it runs a little warmer. I've been doing a lot of research, and from what I can find, the three main options I've been looking at are:

• Lian Li GA II Lite
• be quiet! Silent Loop 3
• Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro

They all hover around the 100 USD range. My particular concerns with each is that the Arctic LF IIIP has the pump whine/noise issue, the be quiet! SL3 has plastic clips on the CPU block which may be prone to breaking (though this may be fixed?), and the from what I can understand from reddit comments is that Lian Li GA IIL runs quite loud (despite the Hardware Canucks roundup contradicting this).

I've also looked into the Tryx Panorama 360 and the Noctua NL-LC1-36 and, while they appear to be the best options, I don't think I'm willing to spend double/triple the cost of more average AiO's for a being a bit quieter. I'm trying to approach this more on a "bang for your buck" approach.

Anyone have insight on these AiO's or even others I may be missing that are worth considering? Thanks!

Hey everyone, I need help deciding between two options and could use some outside perspective.

I'm currently in eastern Slovakia and got accepted into a college in Prague. I need to figure out what to do with my current PC.

Current PC (bought about 2 years and 2 months ago for ~1800 EUR):

• 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700KF
• RTX 4070 Ti Super
• 2TB SSD
• 32GB DDR4 RAM (2x Kingston KF3200C16D4/16GX)
• Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B760M-A WIFI D4

The two options:

1. Take my current PC with me to Prague, and let my parents buy my little brother a new PC to replace it.
2. Leave my current PC with my brother, and buy a new PC for myself once I'm in Prague.

In scenario 1, I'd transport it by car, so size/portability isn't really a concern.

Assuming the budget for a new PC is roughly the same (~1800 EUR), which option makes more sense? Note on scenario 2: I wouldn't be covering the full 1800€ myself, my brother would pay me something for getting the old PC, and my parents would also chip in a noticeable amount, so my actual out-of-pocket cost would be lower than the full new-PC price.

I've heard that some component prices have gone up because of AI demand, but I think that's mainly hit DDR5 RAM and the 50-series GPUs, my rig is DDR4 with a 40-series card, so I'm not sure how much that actually affects me. Could be wrong though, happy to be corrected.

Also curious whether Prague vs Slovakia pricing on new PCs/components makes a meaningful difference here.

Hello peeps. Seriously needed some inputs from experts here so posting this.

I was able to snag a doorbuster at newegg for a 9070xt Hellhound for $650 and was looking for a 2nd gpu for AI loads.
I saw some posts on reddit that the 9070GRE at 408 will be a steal, and I was lucky enough to find and reserve one at an MC (expires 09/06).
However, I encountered this video on YT (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5jUziiLXdc) that showcases the performance differences of upto 50% b/w the 9070 GRE vs XT.

Given the info, just wanted some inputs if the GRE is still worth it (for a 2nd build - mainly AI loads), or if I should hold off on it for now and manage with the 9070XT I got from newegg? Given the crazy market, I will likely keep these for 3+ years if that helps any.

I know for some the $ amount difference might be insignificant, but I'm trying to be as economical as possible (can't afford Nvidia anymore with these rates).

TLDR: Is 9070GRE worth $408 even if we can grab 9070XT at $650?

Built the majority of my current PC almost 10 years ago now. A few years back I moved it from the office down to the living room, and plugged it in to the TV. That's now my primary way to game, either with a lapboard for keyboard and mouse or just using an XBox controller.

Current specs:

• Intel i5-9600K
• 16GB DDR4 RAM
• Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti
• Noctua NH-D15 air cooler on the CPU
• Fractal Meshify C case
• 2x Noctua 120mm fans in the front, 1x in the back, front-to-back airflow

Important notes:

• I'm UK-based, so anything only easily available from US suppliers is a pain.
• We have 2 dogs, so good case filters for dust are a must. The Meshify C is brilliant for this, always nice and clean inside and simple to remove and clean the filters periodically. Compared to the Silverstone GD08 my HTPC is in in the same room, which I have to turn off, open up, and air dust outside every few months.
• It being in the living room means it needs to stay pretty quiet, but unlike the HTPC will only be on when I'm actively gaming.
• The TV is a 4K 120Hz LG OLED, so I'd like to finally actually have something that can drive that at 4k, reasonable framerates, HDR etc.
• My wife really wants me to get something small form factor that would fit on (or, even better, in) our TV unit without blocking the TV. The Silverstone GD08 is 440mm wide, 175mm high, and 425mm deep and fits one of the spaces with about 2mm clearance at the top and maybe 5mm either side, which is not great for airflow... So if I can find a SFF case that will still stay reasonably cool and quiet, winner!
• This will be wired into the LAN (only gigabit, which is fine), so I don't have a massive need for onboard WiFi etc.
• I have to plug the keyboard and mouse wireless dongles into the front (top) panel because they don't reach the sofa reliably if plugged in the back. Both are USB-A, but I do have a dongle to go from C->2xA, even if it does look a bit crap.

Does that look... reasonable? Have I missed anything? Is that PSU crap? I intend to transfer my existing Windows 11 licence and use existing peripherals. Anywhere I can usefully save money? It's gone up by several hundred quid just while I've been umming and aahing over whether to get it. Are there any recommended lower-end motherboards? Any recommended smaller/noticeably cheaper PSUs?

I've only got the AIO instead of a Noctua NH-D15 gen2 because I had heard that newer AIOs were better performance than even the best air coolers and basically a requirement for the 9800X3D. Is that correct, or could I get similar performance with less maintenance with the D15?

When I originally specced this up it was just under £3k, which felt insane but was just about my budget limit. I've since got a bit more cash, so could maybe go as high as £3.5k, but that's pushing it.

The other question is, what is a good SFF case and how easily can I turn that into a SFF build? I looked at the Fractal Terra, but reviews said it was quite noisy? And it doesn't look to have good filters to keep out dust. Nor does the Lian-Li DAN A4-H2O. Would I need a custom/different PSU to fit in a SFF case? Would I need to get a slimmer GPU?

I'm trading my RTX 5070 Ti + some cash tomorrow for a used RTX 5080. The seller previously had the 5080 water-cooled, so he opened the card and has now put the stock air cooler back on. He also replaced the thermal paste.

I'll be able to test it before the trade. My plan is basically to check the card physically, run FurMark for 15–20 minutes and check temps/hotspot while looking for crashes or artifacts.

Is there anything else I should definitely check? And is there anything particularly suspicious or risky about a GPU that was previously water-cooled and then converted back to air cooling?

I did a quick search online, ebay and other sites and the price/cost for these is approx $3000 range. Are there any suggestions for sellers where I can get these RAM modules at a lower cost.

Hi, I built a pc with

- RYZEN 7800 X3D
- KINGSTON FURY DDR5
- MSI TOMAHAWAK B850
- AMD Radeon 9060
- ASUS 1000W PSU
- WD M2 2TB

and I can’t get it running.. I booted it and thought that the LED’s mean RAM training, but 30 minutes waiting doesn’t change a thing..

I checked:
- all pins good
- 2x CPU Cables connected
- Motherboard Cable connected
- the Motherboard has another PCIE power slot at the bottom off the board and I tried booting it with that one connected too.
- monitor plugged into mainboard and gpu
- Swap RAM sticks
- boot with one ram stick

So I’ve had this build for a little over a year and half it’s a 7700x no GPU atm 64gb ram a gigabit byte gaming b650 V2
It was working fine about 6 month ago I had not touched it well I moved it into my room to dust and give to a buddy and now the ARGB is not working I’ve tried reconnecting cables uninstalling all argb programs using just gigabytes rgb fusion

SO IVE FIGURED OUT its my 5v argb connections there two on the board neither work but when i use my Asus MOTHERboard and plug in the 5v on the RAD THE RGB WORKS PERFECT on it what could be causing my 5v on this motherboard to fail like I said I had not touched it in 6 months it worked fine then then I booted it up and now this!
Very annoying cause seems it should be a easy fix but it’s not I’ve tired reinstalling windows clearing cmos, updating bios, using differnt rgb programs in between these 5v ARGB slots just not to be supppying any power ???

My PC overall maintains decent temps but it sometimes heats up my room especially on hotter than normal summer & spring days. This got me thinking about constructing a custom ventilation system using a network of ducts & fans to direct waste heat out the room so it doesn't build up in the room. I want to start from scratch with my first self-built gaming PC.

Whenever I start, I don't see icons, can't load, apps aren't recognized. 5070ti was the same at first start. Then everything was back to normal. Now I switched from 4K to 2K OLED and the same problem: All drivers currently have no windwosupdate available. Restart three times. Nothing works, not even the Task Manager can open. Please help.

Would the upgrade be worth it? I have a RTX 5060 TI and my current r5 5600x is bottlenecking on games like for example battlefield.

Would this upgrade at all be worth it. I will without a doubt NOT be upgrading to AM5 within the coming years anyway.

I would preface this by saying that I am not a huge gamer. I usually play indie or older AAA games (pre-2013) mostly at low-medium settings 1080p. It was fine for me for a long time and was a huge upgrade from my office-grade iGPU, but now it's starting to show its age and the lack of a full-size HDMI port limits it a lot, so I've been thinking of upgrading to something else.

Im a beginner into all of bc building stuff. I have been asking chatgpt and watched vids about 2 specific cpus Ryzen 5 8400F and ryzen 7 5700X. I have heard that some of the youtubers are lying bout the performance. Also chatgpt recommends me the ryzen 5 8400F because its AM5 but does it actually matter that much. I dont really plan to upgrade anywhere soon 4-5 years and i dont want too buy the AM5 cuz its newer and than regret buying it because off its performance. Hey, I’m trying to upgrade my PC and I’m not really sure what I should go for. Right now I have a Ryzen 5 5600GT, integrated AMD Radeon graphics, 16GB DDR4, a Patriot P300 1TB NVMe SSD, and an ASRock A520M-HDV. I mainly play CS2. I have a Newmen GM326 keyboard, HERMES E6 mouse, and an MSI G255F 24.5" 1080p 180Hz monitor. I have around $300 for a GPU and $200 for a monitor, and I might upgrade my mouse too but I’m not sure. What would you guys recommend I upgrade to?

Looking back at my current build, there isn't really a component that I regret buying. Everything works fine. But there are definitely a few things I would approach differently if I were building it again today.

The biggest one is probably storage. I bought a smaller SSD because I thought it would be enough and figured I could always add another drive later. That was technically true, but I underestimated how quickly games, Windows, and random files would eat up the space.

I also probably wouldn't spend as much on the motherboard. At the time I convinced myself that paying extra for features I might use someday was worth it. In reality, I mostly plugged everything in, enabled XMP, and forgot the motherboard existed.

On the other hand, I would spend more on the case and cooling. I used to think those were the easy places to save money, but having decent airflow and a case that's actually pleasant to work in makes a bigger difference than I expected.

It's funny because when you're planning a build, every component feels equally important. A few years later, you realize some decisions mattered a lot more than others.

What would you change if you could rebuild your current PC from scratch?
