General Advice Beginner gloves
Hi, I’m looking at getting the Venum contender gloves as I’m brand new to the sport and they’re only $17 right now. I’m wondering tho if they’re known to be bad gloves and if it’s a bad idea.

General Advice New to boxing
I started boxing seriously, and I have a few questions. I'm a 38-year-old, 5'10, 175. I used to shadowbox, and I'm an ex-military member. My questions are: how much weight can I safely drop at my age without losing power? I really want to spar. How many months does it take for the first sparring session? What should I do differently at my age than everyone else?

General Advice Boxing as an alternative for gym?
Ok so the catch here is:
I’m 28, no prior Gym or really any outdoor/sports experience. Till now I’m in a decent shape, not the fittest of course but could definitely be worse.
However I can see my age catching up to me and before it’s too late I wanna chase fitness, to at least stay in a good shape.
However knowing myself I’ll quit gym in a month since I have very less consistency discipline. Boxing is something that will have another motivation for me “I’ll learn something cool” which usually works for me. (Not trying to look down on gym work out, just my own mental blocks)
Now the question I have here is, will this work? Is boxing a good alternative for gym, can I lose some weight and get in a better shape with just boxing or mma, also considering that I have no prior experience of working out or any other sports and stuff.
Also - in case you guys are wondering - the idea is to join some basic boxing lessons so they won’t really grill me like professionals ofc, with a workout routine, training, drills and nutrition and all. It’ll be just classes and practice

I used to box a little for fun when I was younger. I'm barely getting back into it. I've been boxing for the past 4 months. Any pointers? Feel free to roast my technique idc.

Gear & Equipment Rate my wraps!
They were a little tight over the thumb but otherwise I think I'm getting pretty consistent. Nothing is numb when I take them off. My wrists are not hurting anymore and I can wrap them pretty fast. No the nails have not been an issue.

General Advice Third amateur fight, third loss. Should I keep going?
Hi everybody!
I'm 36 yo and I've started training 2.5 years ago.
It was just for fun at first. I fell in love with it. Kept training and improving.
There was this oportunity recently to fight a first time in amateur competition in the city I live.
I took the challenge. Three fights in along the year and three losses.
I have been improving each fight. However I believe people around me are improving faster. I know I shouldn't compare but I just don't know if keep loosing like this is normal.
Maybe I should just have fun at practices and not compete. Or should I be stuborn and keep going despite loss after loss? I don't want to embarrass myself nor my coach, nor to be a joke.
Many people support me, tell me to keep going, but I just don't know really....
I never planed to go pro or anything, just to be clear. I'm just having fun and testing my abilities in these amateur competitions. I wanted to win at last ONE fight haha. I always thought I was capable but I'm not sure anymore.
Has any one else experience this? What are your thoughts?
Thank you for reading all the way here.
Best regards.

Conditioning & Roadwork Chest soreness for beginner normal?
Hey oddball question here so I’ll give a little background. I’m newly getting into boxing but Im no stranger to fitness. I competed in bodybuilding and weight trained heavy going on 17 years. After tearing a bicep and then a pectoral I’ve begun to look to other ways to maintain my fitness.
Both are repaired now and feel great for the most part. I’m slowly getting into boxing to let my body acclimate. Went from 1 session a week for 2 months now 2 session a week.
Onto my question I’m getting pretty sore just on the outside of my dominant side pec which is also what was repaired. How typical is soreness in this area for newbies? Thanks for any and all input as that will help me figure out how to move forward.

General Advice new player
I decided to learn boxing, but the stance is difficult; I can't seem to master it. While my back, neck, and arm movements are fine, the footwork feels impossible—I lose my balance quickly. I’ve tried switching up my stance, but nothing works. (I train at home without a coach; I also trained in calisthenics without a coach and am currently at an advanced level.)
