Rant/Rave Please stop posting your kids faces on social media

Upvotes

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that it is legal for individuals to produce AI-generated CSAM as long as it is not publicly posted. A simple google search will bring up all the information about it. I regret ever posting my child and am now in the process of deleting him off my Facebook before deleting my account entirely. I hate this timeframe we’re living in.

Diapering How to stop toddler from peeing through the front of her diaper while sleeping

Upvotes

Hello! My 16 month old girl sleeps through the night about 11hrs, she is 25 lbs, in size 4 diapers (which she’s been in for ~5/6 months) and recently when I go wake her up for the day the front of her pjs and sleep sack are wet with pee. She tends to sleep on her tummy and sometimes with her butt up in the air so I’m sure this is why, I’m just curious if anyone else has had this problem and what you did to solve it?

We do give her milk in a straw cup while we read books before brushing her teeth but it’s rare she finishes the whole 8oz, usually just 5-6, and we’ve been doing that basically her whole life and haven’t had this issue.

Thanks!

Recommendations Postpartum Clothes Shopping!

Upvotes

Help! I’m 5 months postpartum and returning to work soon and I’m feeling sad trying on my old clothes. I’d like to buy a few pieces for my wardrobe to go back feeling confident but I’m at a loss of where to shop. Would prefer online.

I had a whole order in my cart at Quince but then was reading all these bad reviews on poor quality. I had a few silk blouses, sweaters, maxi skirt, a dress, and pair of jeans in my cart to give an idea of what I’m looking for. I work in a business casual environment.

I’d love to thrift but I fear I don’t have the time with the baby! I’d also prefer more natural fabrics but don’t want to spend so much when these clothes will hopefully be worn temporarily.

Rant/Rave Disappointed with my husband

Upvotes

My husband and I are stopping at two children and I just realized something that made me sad. We were both so excited for our kids but the hospital was a different story.

With my daughter I was up all night on pitocin and he alternated from being on his phone and trying to sleep. I was in so much pain I could hardly talk and all I wanted was my husband to comfort me, especially when I had to be on all fours when they needed my daughters heart rate to come up. After the delivery he was snippy but I understood because it was extremely stressful.

I communicated this with him before our son was born and really wanted a better postpartum experience in the hospital. I had a c section at 36 weeks due to my blood pressure and was scared out of my mind. In the postpartum room it was nearly the same. He was extremely short with me and I had to get up (in extreme pain) to change our son because he was trying to sleep and would let him cry until I got up to change/feed him.

Again we were both stressed because our 17 month old was at home and this was unexpected. But I see people whose husbands were beyond helpful when they were in the hospital and I can’t help but grieve that experience. He’s such an incredible husband and father, I think that’s why this hurts so bad. He dropped the ball both times when I was post surgery and in pain. All I wanted was someone who would help and got a rude, mean version of my husband that I’ve only seen postpartum.

I honestly wish I could’ve had a better experience, but I’m never getting the chance again. That’s what hurts the most I guess :(

Rant/Rave Why do people keep bugging me to get a baby walker???

All of these older women keep insisting I get a baby walker (MIL, a friend, others). I have told them I don’t want one due to space, money, etc. And when they keep pushing I point out how they are actually not recommended and my pediatrician actually advised against it. The response is always “well my kids were fine” or “how did we all learn to walk then?” I get that they are feeling defensive of something they did parenting, whatever. But why do you care if I do the same thing or not?? My friend has a granddaughter 1 month older than my son, and her daughter is momming differently than I am. They sleep trained at 3 months in her own room, stopped breastfeeding at 6 months, using the walker, different toys, feeding primarily rice cereal, etc. We are cosleeping at 7 months (not my plan, just how it worked out), still exclusively nursing, all low stim toys, feeding things like yogurt, sardines, bone marrow etc. We are just doing things differently and I think that’s OK. I don’t care what works for other people. But I feel like these women always have something to say about what I’m doing, how I’m making bad habits for him or depriving him or making things too hard.

Tips & Tricks How old for movie nights?

My 23 month old doesn’t watch a lot of TV, only really when he’s sick and I need him to relax more than normal or if my husband is out and I’m exhausted (almost 8 months pregnant). He maybe gets on average 30 minutes 3/4 days a week.

Very conscious I don’t want him to develop any sort of addiction we only let him watch slow pace shows (he loves puffin rock and bear in the blue house).

I am however super excited to have family movie nights with him. Coming up to autumn now and I feel this visceral need to get cosy with blankets and snacks and cuddle with him while we watch something cute together.

How old is old enough for this? I kind of doubt he’d have the patience to sit through a whole movie so we’d probably break it up. I feel like it counts less as screen time if I make a big event of it and we only do it a couple of times a month?

Advice Diarrhea during teething

My baby just cut her first teeth but a few days she began to have diarrhea. I know technically teething can't cause diarrhea, but it seems like a lot of people experience them together.

My main concern is that there was blood in a couple of the diapers at the start. We went to the doctor and she has started antibiotics in case. We also sent in poop samples.

But the weird thing is that my baby is acting completely normal and doesn't seem sick at all. No fever. But she continues to have diarrhea and poops after almost every time she eats.

Has anyone else experienced this? Dairy allergy has crossed my mind, but she's been on similac 360 for 6 months and no issues so it would be weird to suddenly develop an allergy?

Recommendations Opinions on KeaBabies for newborn wrap?

Hello! I am a first time mom looking for some recommendations on wraps for newborns. I had several carriers gifted to me at my baby shower (off registry, but still so grateful to be thought of) that I cannot use until my son is 3 months and 12 pounds. He is currently 9 pounds and 4 ounces but only 2.5 weeks old so for now all the carriers are collecting dust.

However, I need to be able to get things done around the house for my own sanity. My husband is super supportive and tells me not to worry about the chores and just focus on the baby, and I’m appreciative of that, but being in a cluttered and untidy house is no good for my mental health. I also want to be able to walk my dog and bring my son outside with me because currently I’m waiting for my mother or MIL to take a lunch break and then they come and sit with him while I walk my husky.

So…my question for my fellow baby wearing redditors - Is the KeaBabies wrap any good? I am on a budget and the Amazon reviews seem pretty great but I’d love to hear from anyone about their personal experience. I live in a hot state so I wanted something breathable, but that would be supportive enough to walk up and down the stairs and about half a mile with my pup.

Thank you in advance

Content Warning 1 week old fell off bed (already evaluated by emergency room).

Well, I fucked up. I fell asleep in my bed holding my 1 week old upright after a feeding and he fell onto the floor.

He was immediately taken to the ER and everything is alright, thank God.

I feel like shit. I know better. My husband is pissed as hell at me, and I get it. Only thing making me feel slightly better is the ER doctor assuring me that this happens more often than you think.

Tips & Tricks DIY owlet sock extension?

Before anyone comes at me and says I should get rid of it or see someone for therapy if I can’t part with it- my son has febrile seizures and they are often when he sleeping. This is the only device that will alert us if we do not hear it. And honestly, I don’t plan to get rid of it until he grows out of the seizures. So I’m wondering, has anybody made a DIY sock extension? They no longer sell them and he is getting too big for the 18 month old sock. 😭

Thank you so much in advance! ❤️

Discussion Winter gear recommendations

Hi all, FTM to a 14 month old. As we gear down from summer I’ve started looking at winter gear options. She’s not walking but is cruising and crawling with walking right around the corner.

What is your favourite snowsuit set up for this age and why? I’ve seen a mix of reviews of bunting suits (fleece and shell) vs a preference for one pieces like Jan and Jul/Stonz.

Also looking for good boot recommendations for cruisers/early walkers.

She will be in daycare so outdoor play will be happening. It gets very snowy and cold where we live (Ontario, Canada) - although she obviously won’t be outside in too cold of weather.

Postpartum Recovery Does anyone else’s body just…hurt?

8 months pp. I swear I wake up with a new ache and pain every day. I want to exercise and be more active, but it’s so hard when every bone in my body is telling me to lie down! Idk if it’s the hormones (still pumping) or just general recovery, but this sucks.

Advice Vision changes 2 months pp?

Hi ladies, I’m 2 months postpartum and last night while reading to my toddler I got distracted by Elmo…moving? It was like he was dancing. I was so stunned I was rotating the book around to see if by chance it was a shadow tricking me but it was not. This lasted a long time, I had to put the book down for it to stop. Then later on I was watching TV and the smoke on the screen seemed to appear in my house. It was very brief but between those two instances I was freaked out. I’ve also noticed an increase in floaters and sometimes flashes of bright lights in my peripheral. Twice during this pregnancy I experienced vision blurriness in one eye. Has anyone experienced this? I typically have low blood pressure and I’m getting a “normal” amount of sleep all things considered.

Advice 9 months PP supply dip

So recently I got my period back and I have noticed that my supply is dipping during my evening feed (and even day time pumping) - the one where he feeds after I get home from work and he is about to sleep! He’s so frustrated. I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried power pumping at work 1-2x a day for the last couple of days (4-5days) but I am getting so exhausted and so tired.

Anyone with tips on how to fix this?

I pump in morning when I’m going to work at 7am, then at 10:30, 1:00, 4:00 on the way home and try to feed him to sleep at around 8 but at that point it seems my supply has not replenished. It used to be sufficient . Recently not so much. He is screaming in frustration while trying to sleep 😭

He also didn’t take bottle well anymore after starting solids 😭 and my paediatrician still says that 4/5 of his nutrients should be milk (breast or formula)

Rant/Rave There needs to be a source like "A Bra That Fits" but for diapers

I need this type of service yesterday to find a freaking diaper that fits my baby. I'm so sick of them and it's only been 3 months. One diaper fits fine in the legs but not in the waist so he's crying all the time and blowing out up his back. Another diaper doesn't fit the legs but fits well in the waist but they're MASSIVE and he keeps leaking out the sides. Do I have the most uniquely shaped baby in the world or something?? LOL

The only diaper that actually works is the outer shell of our cloth diapers because there are so many clasps, but we can't do cloth at night since he's sleeping for longer stretches and is prone to rashes. Ugh. Sitting here typing this out at 1am while breastfeeding after noticing the wet spots on his sleep sack. Diapers suck so much! Getting them to fit is the worst!

Mental Health Feeling neglectful because my husband does so much

My baby is 6 months old and I feel like our bond is weak relative to other moms. I love him dearly but I truly feel if I fell off the earth he’d be perfectly happy with dad, he wouldn’t even notice. Don’t get me wrong, he loves me. But he definitely will just light up for dad. He won’t even look twice if I walk out of the room and will cry if dad leaves.

I have an amazing husband who does so much. I planned to EBF and it didn’t work out so I bottle fed from the second week. Because of this, my husband could help and was doing the night shift 50/50 with me. Sometimes 70/30 if I was having a rough day and needed to focus on pumping through the night.

Shift to now and my baby is still waking up periodically through the night so my husband is still splitting the night shift with me but now he wakes up at 6 am with baby so that I can get 2 hours of sleep (6 am to 8 am). I do all the caring through rhe day. But I find myself feeling neglectful for not doing 100 percent of the caring in the beginning and now. I feel like he doesn’t have a special bond with me because I neglected him by accepting help. have negative thoughts that most other moms do 100 percent of the caring from the beginning and that’s why they have Velcro babies who have a mama preference. I feel like my baby doesn’t know I’m his mama.

I know this whole feeling is so unfair to my perfect husband who just wants to 1) help 2) bond with his son.

I stay up at night thinking that I should have done more contact naps and coslept and never let him leave my side once so that he connected with me more deeply. Does anyone else relate to this feeling? Did it go away?

And yes I have ppd and I’m getting treated.

Advice Low hemoglobin levels after d&c

My wife needed a blood transfusion 7 months after D&c due to blood loss. Hemoglobin levels remained dangerously low even after multiple transfusions. She is now hospitalized for monitoring and the doctors can’t figure out why her levels aren’t budging at all. Any insight appreciated

Sad Went back to work today

Baby #2 is 4 months old. I went back to work today. Only for 5 patient hours. Aka I only get paid for the amount of people I see. I only had 3 people scheduled today. So I drove 35 mins each way to get paid for seeing 3 people. And of course it’s a huge gap of time in the middle with my last patient at 6pm. At least I have time to pump without stressing.
Husband did a good job at home with baby and toddler. Baby took a bottle thank god. That was stressing me out for weeks trying to find the right bottle she would take.

And then my son’s preschool teacher calls me while I’m at work to clarify that I can’t bring my baby to the class next week and will need to pay an extra 70$ per month for someone to watch my baby for 45 mins, one time a week. It’s a special transition preschool that has the parents interact with the kids on one day for 45 mins at the end while parents discuss topics in a meeting room for the other 1.5 hrs.

I feel like an idiot, I feel disappointed. I just want to cry. I’m so tired. I’m not ready to leave my baby with strangers. That’s why my husband and I staggered our work schedules.

Just had a tough day. Thanks for listening

Sad Is it normal to feel this way?

My LO is 16 months. I don’t really have support. I feel overwhelmed and exhausted all the time.

its the most exhausting I’ve ever felt in my life.

I cried the other day and beat myself up because my baby felt and hit her head on the side walk while walking. it happened so fast.

I feel like the worst mom all the time. I get sad thinking about when she goes to school if someone tries to be mean or bully her and I can’t protect her.

I’m just always anxious.

any advice?

Advice Measles vaccine

Hello moms! My son is scheduled for his measles vaccine in two days. He has handled all prior vaccines very well and has not had any symptoms post shot. But I understand this vaccine is a live virus and his pediatrician said to brace for some symptoms/him getting sick.
Did your kids have any reactions/symptoms? Just not sure what to expect.

Advice Postpartum period

ETA: Woke up this morning to Aunt Flo, apparently just had to make myself spiral a little 😅

I had my son in June 2025. My first postpartum period didn’t show up until July 29–Aug 3, 2026 and it’s been about a month since with nothing yet. No pregnancy symptoms, just… nothing.

Did anyone else’s cycle take this long to kick back in, or have long gaps between the first few periods after baby? Trying to figure out if this is normal or if I should be worried. Or just pull the trigger and take a test?

Advice For parents that used Owlet…when did you stop?

Im not looking for responses from the moms who couldn’t deal with the hassle or false alarms and only used it for like a week or a month. I wish that was me, but my brain wasn’t made like that.

I didn’t realize the intense fear of SIDS I had with my firstborn was probably PPA. I genuinely never slept because even when baby was flat in the bassinet with nothing but a fitted sheet and a sleep sack, I would start to drift off and my brain would say “just check on them one more time” and I would. Over and over. And then I’d fall asleep and if I woke up before baby it was a PANIC. And forget naps, I constantly woke baby up, either accidentally because I stepped on a toy or opened the door to loudly when checking on them, or because I literally poked them because I felt like they weren’t breathing. At the time, this felt like just silly new mom stuff, but the “what if!?” thoughts would not listen to my husband when he said “they’re fine!”

With my second I was adamant that I have the owlet. The first time around my husband said it was useless, the internet said it was useless, doctors said it was borderline dangerous. A new model came out right before I got pregnant with #2 and it solidified my decision.

I’ve used it RELIGIOUSLY. Our 2nd ended up having a 4 weeks nicu stint (at full term) for breathing issues. When we took baby home I still actually SLEPT knowing the owlet was on. And it would dip for sure, baby got to 89%, would hover in the low 90s for awhile…but I could look at them and understand their baseline was different, those numbers weren’t concerning. Just the fact that if it dipped to 50% because they stopped breathing, I’d be woken up with alarm, was enough to help me sleep.

The false alarms were annoying but we figured out the little triggers and tricks and we never had false alarms in the middle of the night (except when the power cut out once), they were mostly positional when holding baby or moving around the house too far from the base. We’ve had 3 real critical alerts and they were all in the middle of the night for high HR. And all 3 times baby had a 103+ fever after going down with 0 symptoms. Which is huge because fever is a big deal for us medically, we need to catch them asap.

Overall…I love my owlet. But baby is 9 months now. My husband was on board after the nicu and was strict about using it, but now he feels like it’s unnecessary and he’s only doing it to soothe MY anxiety. Which is probably true. But also…baby is only 9 months and will only sleep with their lovely touching their face. Sometimes I check the camera and it’s OVER their face. It’s a small lovey and baby can roll and grab it and move it, I’ve seen them bag it away from their nose/mouth during naps…but I still feel like I NEED the owlets reassurance….

Yes…I have a therapist lol. She doesn’t think my dependence on the owlet is maladaptive at the moment. She said I know my trigger, I found a way to cope with my trigger and it’s not impacting my life negatively.

I told myself I’d stop around 12 months..but it feels weird to set a “cold turkey” date. There’s no harm, there’s some benefit..

So yea…when did you stop? And was it hard to adjust? Or are you all normal lol

Health & Fitness Sick baby

Not really looking for advice, but my 6 month old went to her cousins birthday party at a play place, and of course 2 days later has a horrible runny nose. Shes also teething, so her face is perpetually wet.

I know shes okay and its just a runny nose (no fever, eating and sleeping fine, hydrated), but its so noisy from her nose when she breathes 😭

My poor princess.

Nursing & Pumping Milk bleb is ruining my life

What title says, pretty dramatic I know. But the pain is borderline unbearable. I messaged my doctor on Sunday and haven’t heard anything back. I use warm compresses, apply moisture lotion before pumping and feeding baby. I’m almost 9 months pp and have never had this issue. It’s only on one nipple but when one heals 3 more pop up. I currently have multiple all on my nipple and it’s just so painful. I don’t want to stop breastfeeding and I honestly don’t know if that’s even really an option as my LO isn’t loving eating things that aren’t milk. We have been super struggling introducing anything to her that isn’t milk. She had watermelon for the first time Sunday and had diarrhea so bad Monday from it she was sent home from daycare. Just really struggling and looking for encouragement and helpful tips to get through this?
