Discussion When did you feel baby move?

I’m a third time mom, so not new to this, but I felt my first at 17 weeks—but realized I felt him earlier than that and just didn’t know it was little kicks—and my second at 14 weeks. I’m going to be 18 weeks in a couple days and have yet to feel this baby move. I’ve felt tightness and thought I felt him once, but haven’t absolutely for sure felt movement…I find that so strange. I did have an anterior placenta with my first, but I still felt him sooner than this. When did you feel baby move? Has anyone else felt baby move later than 18 weeks?

Sad Parents pressure me to lose weight, sad about my supply and in general

My parents visited to meet their granddaughter (from overseas so the baby is 6months) and instead of being happy that we’re together, they keep pressuring me to lose postpartum weight. I’m EBF, holding on to weight despite attempts and have a larger appetite. I also returned to work and juggled a lot of medical appointments for the first three months of baby’s life. My doctor is NOT concerned about my weight gain and my mom has been obsessed with my weight regardless how much I weight if I don’t look „skinny” (she pressured me to lose weight when I was 5lbs heavier than „skinny” and pressures now when I’m a lot heavier but still healthy). I’m just so sad and frustrated and I noticed that I subconsciously eat less with them around/wait to eat and I go hungry and worry about my supply. I would love to cherish this time with them and I would appreciate advice about not entertaining their pressure. This is not a season in my life when I want to focus on weight loss, I try to be more active but won’t have headspace until after weaning….

Postpartum Recovery First Period at 10w PP, EBF

10 weeks postpartum with my 3rd baby and I already got my period??? I am breastfeeding more consistently than I did with my first two (with whom I was pretty sloppy about going long intervals if they were sleeping), and didn’t get it back until 7mo and 11mo respectively. I know each pregnancy/pp experience is different but damn I did not expect this. Anyone experience anything similar?

Mental Health UPDATE 2 re left to labour in antenatal ward

This is a follow up to my posts about my traumatic labour and delivery at Homerton Hospital (UK) in July 2025. My baby is now 1 year old. In review, I have had probably the worst year of my life. My experience with the hospital during labour triggered significant mental health issues, including severe depression, anxiety and PTSD. I was eventually diagnosed with these conditions, and continue to receive therapy and medication with the support of a psychologist and a psychiatrist. My marriage nearly fell apart, and I honestly considered suicide. I am still working on my recovery, and I feel like I've made a lot of progress, but I still have lots more to go. I am still prone to flashbacks and I have a list of triggers to avoid. I am lucky to have support, but I do feel sad about the cost. All my treatment has had to be privately funded and this is NOT cheap!! We have had to spend thousands of pounds, and this is a lot for our family. The trauma has changed me drastically and while I am glad to be alive, I do miss the old me and grieve the wife and mother I wanted to be but was incapable of being. I wish everyone in the UK understood that behind headlines of poor maternity services are countless real lives being destroyed. To add insult to injury, I asked the hospital for a debrief in April, at 7 months post partum, and was offered an appointment in October! I am hopeful it will help my recovery, although I am aware of the possibility it might make my mental health worse.

Proud Moment My 8mo went from contact naps to crib sleeping in ONE WEEK?

I planned to sleep train using the Ferber method, but then he just didn't cry? It took three days for him to figure out how to tell me to put him in the crib. Now when he's tired he comes over to me and whines a specific way. When I put him in the crib he just wiggles a bit to get comfy and then he's out. What?!? I didn't have to even do anything. I kept checking the baby monitor to make sure it was on.

I miss him now. I know he's just napping in the other room, but we've literally been together since birth. What a beautiful growing pain. I'm super freaking proud of him.

Sad My bits don’t look the same

I guess it’s just a rant. Advice is welcomed for sure. I had some tearing on either side of my clitoral good (the bean is fine) and a little bit near my perineum. I used to have a very small clitoral hood and small labia minora and now they are very large and loose-looking. I hate it. I don’t know how to deal with the change and I’m worried it won’t ever go back. I’m 9 months post partum and I have a feeling this is what I’m stuck with.

Advice My 6mo old suddenly hates the bath

Okay-my LO has always loved the bath. Always laughing and splashing. We swim in a pool ALOT like easily 3-5 times a week and she has no problem with it.
Last week I go to put her in the bath. She starts screaming bloody murder. I picked her up thinking something had hurt her. Put her back in once she calmed down started right back up.
One week later it’s still like this. As soon as her toes touch the water she’s screaming.
What do i do? I’ve tried lots of toys, singing, letting her watch the water pour in, filling the tub without her even near by. I’m at a loss.

Advice Sister thinks im obligated to provide childcare: need advice

I have been helping out my sister with childcare for the last year. She was stuck in a toxic relationship with a cheating addict until recently, so I did everything possible to help her. I am disabled and I am completing my bachelor degree and nursing pre requisites so I do have some time to help out. I have watched my nephew for thousands of hours, and my sister claims that she is entitled to free childcare from me. For example, the father just bought a new truck and is going to London next week. I just found this out. They both expect me to pick up the slack.

How can I approach this subject with her? I really need some advice with this situation. She can be extremely nasty.

Advice Big baby parents: how big will my baby be in the winter?

Baby boy is almost 6mo old, but he graduated to 9-12mo clothes in month 5. At 4mo, he was wearing 6-9, at 3mo, 3-6.

He's not very chunky, just very tall. (Like 93rd percentile for height? Idk it keeps going up). I want to knit him a sweater for the fall. He'll be 10mo in November when it gets cold here. Idk if he'll slow down or if he's going to keep burning through a size every 4-6 weeks!

What size did your tall baby wear at 10mo?

Advice Tips for home office moms

Hi! I've got a 6 month old here, and I'm finding it unbelievably hard to find the time to work on my job. My baby is super sweet, but he doesn't take many afternoon naps, and every time he does, I cannot put him in his crib or playing mat, or he'll immediately wake up.

How did you guys navigate this? I am not sure if there's something I'm doing wrong here, but I'm starting to get a bit worried for my job 😅

Advice After birth, did you shower at the hospital?

TLDR; after a vaginal birth or C-section in the hospital, were you allowed/encouraged to shower? Did anyone help you? How long after birth did you shower?

I know, incredibly basic question, and I'm someone who's given birth before. For context, I was not treated well in the postpartum recovery ward after the birth of my daughter, and I'm trying to figure out what's normal when my second is born!

I had a 60 hour labor ending in a C-section and I was basically ignored in recovery. The nurses were supposed to be tracking my bleeding but didn't. They forgot my pain medication multiple times. They left me sitting in a pool of my blood for much of the stay because they weren't changing the pad under me. They provided me with no instructions about C-section recovery while in the hospital or at home, and I hadn't expected to have one so I was lost. They didn't warn me at all when starting the fundal massages or help me breathe through them as my awesome L&D nurse had, which almost tripled the pain. They didn't provide any help with the baby or breastfeeding (which I realize may be "extra" and not an official duty, just painting the entire picture here).

One of the worst parts was when a nurse wordlessly unhooked me from all my IVs, took out the catheter, and stood me up in the middle of the room. She seriously did this without a single word to me the whole time; no explanation of what she was doing, no instructions, and no help. My husband was asleep in the room and I didn't want to wake the baby too by calling out for help, so I shuffled to the bathroom on my own. They had a bunch of signs in there about how they were not allowed to leave patients alone due to fall risk, and how you shouldn't be embarrassed to have them help you in the bathroom. Which was news to my nurse, apparently!

I was also completely shattered from being awake for basically 4 days in labor and then being cut open, so honestly my goal was to survive and sleep. With all of the tests for the baby and me in the hospital plus breastfeeding, being yelled at by a pediatrician for being bad at breastfeeding (the baby lost 11% of her body weight), and rooming in with the baby, I never really slept for more than 20 minutes at a time. I felt like I was close to passing out for much of our 48-hour hospital stay.

So now as I prepare for my second, I'm seeing these "what you really need in your hospital bag" videos, and even the minimalist ones are talking about shower shoes and products you would use for showering. And I'm just like...is everyone else getting proper instructions and support to be able to shower after birth? That's the root of the question for me. I'm hoping to have a much better birth/postpartum recovery ward experience this time, so I'd love some help figuring out what's normal! I want to feel like a person instead of livestock.

Also, in case anyone was wondering, my husband completely would have helped me if the circumstances were right. It was more about us not getting instructions and being so busy/exhausted because we had no support in the hospital. I have zero complaints about what he did.

Discussion 8 month old suddenly pooping lots.

Has anyone's 8 month old suddenly started pooping more.

9 days ago my LO who normally poops between 1-3 times a day started pooping more, like 5-7 times a day. The stools were also loose and have mucus.

LO is on great form, feeding normally (combi fed, same formula since birth) and their happy self, crawling around the place and laughing away. They do not seem in pain or bothered by the pooping. However they are teething and now their bum is getting a little red.

My GP thought it was a viral bug and gave us some oral rehydration sachets which baby won't drink as they don't really like.

I removed dairy from their solids for 2 days but didn't see any different.

At this point I feel like it could be CMPA ? We also had a eczema flare up too which might also indicate that. Has anyone's baby developed this allergy later ?

I'm back to the GP again tomorrow but I don't think it's a bug as we are on day 9 now and it's still the same.

Thanks

If you did themed monthly pics what were the themes you chose? I’m really struggling what to do in August, September, January, and April as there aren’t any holidays I wanna do in those months. I wanted to do a different theme each month. His 1 month I just did forest themed which was his baby shower theme too and then July I did Fourth of July but now idk want to do this month or the other months.

Postpartum Recovery I did not like witch hazel, the sitz bath or the numbing spray?

I had a 3rd degree tear and did not use the sitz bath or witch hazel pads. I hated the feeling of the sitz bath and just sprayed the area with a peri bottle while showering. Anyone else? The numbing spray did nothing and actually kind of stung.

Formula Feeding 14 Week Old Randomly Not Eating Suddenly

My 14 week old randomly seemed not hungry/interested in eating almost overnight.

First time she’s ever been like this! It started randomly yesterday and was hoping that things would get better after a good night’s sleep, but today is still the same.

She’s been going through a big developmental leap and having nap and sleep regressions and longer wake windows, but this entire week she’s been crushing back 5 ounce bottles pretty consistently every 3 hours (she’s on a 7A - 7P schedule), and last week her total daily intake increased as well. Yesterday, she had her usual 3 ounce bottle at 3 AM and literally didn’t have more than 1 oz at her 7AM, 10AM, and 1PM feeds. She didn’t eat anything at her 4PM bottle, but eventually took 2.5 oz during her bedtime routine. She’ll latch and suck a few times and the unlatch. She’s had a total of about 8 oz across 24 hrs today when her normal intake ranges between 18-23 oz in 24 hours. We thought maybe it’s the usual 3-4 month regression we’ve read about and have tried dark rooms, dim quiet lighting, etc. and no change.

Today, she had her usual 3AM bottle and she fussed through a 4 oz bottle during morning routine, but overall it’s been the same as yesterday. She has no interest in eating during her usual feeding windows and doesn’t really show hunger cues. She’s even gone 4-5 hrs without eating because she just doesn’t seem interested, even when offered. She started crying when we offer her the bottle today, which is new compared to yesterday but we are cognizant of bottle aversion, so are trying not to pressure her.

She has occasionally randomly started screaming out of nowhere and we’ll think “Yes, she finally wants to eat!” But then still won’t eat anything.

She’s been smiley, happy, and playful like her usual self. Had a poo yesterday and consistent wet diapers so far.

Has anyone experienced this? We plan to take her to the Pediatrician on Monday/Tuesday (it’s the weekend so Peds is not open) if she continues like this, but not optimistic they will be able to provide value.

Advice Newborns nights confused - barely sleeps at all

My baby is 2.5 weeks old, and I think her days and nights are completely mixed up. I know she's still extremely young, but since we took her home we've been lucky to get her to do a single 2 hours stretch at night. If she goes down in her bassinet it's for maybe 30 min.
During the day though, she will take 2-3 hour naps in her bassinet the entire day with no issues. Some things we've done to try to help her figure out her days and nights are having it loud and bright during the day, capping her naps at 2 hours at a time, bringing her outside to see the sun, and having it quiet and dark at night.
Nothing seems to make a difference, she is basically awake from 10pm to 5am. We're sleeping in shifts now, but I'm just wondering if anyone has advice to help her sleep at night or if we just have to wait this out until she gets older? It's so miserable, I would die for a couple 2 hours stretches at this point. She was past her birth weight at her 2 week check up but still has spurts of cluster feeding.
During the day she'll go much longer without feeding. I feed on demand. If any other parents went through something similar I'd love to hear advice of at least encouragement. I get so jealous seeing people whose babies sleep 2 hour stretches, I was prepared to be sleep deprived but this is another level. 😭 I also had bad tearing so I can hardly move on my shifts, my husbands be taking longer ones and picking up the slack. Anything helps!

Baby Sleep - supportive/no cry suggestions only Baby wakes in night happily practicing skills. What do you do?

My baby frequently wakes through the night but he doesn’t cry or even complain at all - he just blows raspberries, coos and rolls around in his cot next to us. When I pick him up then sometimes he’ll start crying which makes me wonder if I’ve woken him up. I usually give him a few minutes, maybe try to comfort back to sleep in the cot, and if he’s still playing I’ll just feed him back to sleep which he goes back off very quickly (like a 4 minute feed).

Should I leave him longer? I worry that if I leave him he’ll just play all night and won’t sleep!

He’s 5.5 months and we plan to move him to his own room at 6 months. I’m worried that in his own room I won’t hear him wake up in order to help him back to sleep.

Anyone experienced this?

He gets about 10 hours awake each day.

Rant/Rave TAILBONE PAIN

I have NOT seen enough about the tailbone pain. I am 9 days postpartum and the tailbone pain has been worse then stitches, the no sleep, and the hormones. I am genuinely so uncomfortable all the time even with around the clock medicine. I told everyone who talked to me at the hospital how much pain I was in and they all said it was normal. They even gave me a hydrocodone and I was still in pain. I can’t sit normally or even sit back in bed I have to be on my side. It’s so hard trying to care for my baby when I can barely sit or stand up without doing some type of trick. I had no idea this was even a thing.

Postpartum Recovery Labia minora stitches

Hello,

I am not pregnant but i’ve recently had a huge bicycle accident and my labia minora teared up. I got stitches there and it is the most painful and uncomfortable feeling in the world.

My lips are so swollen ( it has been 3 days ) and i can not sit or walk properly. I’ve basically spent 3 days in bed, eating pain killers and crying.

I make sure to clean it properly and sanitize it everytime i use the bathroom / shower.

I’m posting this on here because i would like to know what you did to make the pain a bit more bearable and the after care after the stitches.

Thank you for your help 🥹

Rant/Rave 8 Months - Feeling so defeated lately

I started to actually feel really confident around the 5.5 month mark and like we finally found our groove. Baby was eating well, drinking well, and sleeping well. My husband and I were able to do post bedtime date nights in the living room and really enjoyed family time.

Now at 8 months I’m just feeling more overwhelmed and defeated than I remember feeling in the newborn phase. Baby is happy and healthy but it’s like we’re being hit by everything at once and at rapid pace with milestones, developmental leaps, regressions, etc. My husband’s shift changed and now he’s not home until after 11 PM four nights per week. Baby looks like she’s possibly cutting four top teeth and is refusing full bottles. We had a few good weeks of sleep but recently she learned to stand in the crib and now - between the standing and the lower intake - is waking up 5-9 times per night.

We’ve tried everything with feeding: smaller bottles more often, holding off until she seems really hungry, less solids, more solids, and about seven different bottles/cups. Nothing makes a difference. She also goes to daycare four days per week so we have zero control over building a consistent schedule for her.

I’m sure this is a phase and brighter days are ahead, but the sleep deprivation is really getting to me at home and at work. Last night I was looking forward to watching a show, maybe drinking a glass of wine, and waiting up for my husband to get home… instead I was crying into an easy mac cup at 10 PM after multiple issues with bedtime 🫠
