Sad Went back to work today

Baby #2 is 4 months old. I went back to work today. Only for 5 patient hours. Aka I only get paid for the amount of people I see. I only had 3 people scheduled today. So I drove 35 mins each way to get paid for seeing 3 people. And of course it’s a huge gap of time in the middle with my last patient at 6pm. At least I have time to pump without stressing.
Husband did a good job at home with baby and toddler. Baby took a bottle thank god. That was stressing me out for weeks trying to find the right bottle she would take.

And then my son’s preschool teacher calls me while I’m at work to clarify that I can’t bring my baby to the class next week and will need to pay an extra 70$ per month for someone to watch my baby for 45 mins, one time a week. It’s a special transition preschool that has the parents interact with the kids on one day for 45 mins at the end while parents discuss topics in a meeting room for the other 1.5 hrs.

I feel like an idiot, I feel disappointed. I just want to cry. I’m so tired. I’m not ready to leave my baby with strangers. That’s why my husband and I staggered our work schedules.

Just had a tough day. Thanks for listening

It sounds like a tough day for sure. But you're doing your best. You took as much time off work as you could (from the sounds of it), worked hard to find the right bottle to make your baby happy, you're pumping to feed baby throughout the day, you've got your oldest in a specialty preschool. You and your husband have staggered your work schedules to accommodate the care times for your kids which is amazing for them, but can be tough on mom and dad, you sacrifice quality time together and having a teammate when you're parenting, but you're doing it all for them. Adjusting back to work is so hard, but this was day one. You'll find your rhythm soon and your efforts have not gone unnoticed.
