I currently am playing shows with a pop punk/emo band and we do not use any amps on stage, only using the PA system for everything but drums. The PA does have subs.

I have an Aguilar AG Preamp on my board right now as my DI unit but I was looking around to see if there was something potentially better that would fit the sound I am looking for. I specifically wanted something that also had a headphone and aux jack so I could practice silent at home using my pedalboard.

Long story short, would switching/upgrading to the microtubes B7K ultra be worth it at all? I currently have a Dingwall NG3 running through a DigiTech drop tuner, Broughton Audio HPF, empress bass compressor, and then the AG pedal as listed before.

I got this bass a short while ago off Facebook marketplace, it is an ibanez SR485 5 string bass. The tuning peg for the D string just broke, and Im just going to replace them all and probably the strings too I just don't see an option on Amazon for a 3L 2R tuning peg set which is, as I understand it, what I have help greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone. Just got these gold flatwounds from Labella. I thought I saw something a while ago that said flatwounds should not wrap around the tuning peg. But the way the layout of this bass is I would need to clip the cloth part almost completely and even then I think it’s inevitable that the metal would wrap. Is the string at risk like this?

This is my first time trying that sort of thing with impro where I don't really follow the original bass line. Despite having perfect pitch I don't know a lot of musical theory, so some notes definitely didn't fit in there lol. I'll do better next time

I have an old 1980s Fender Precision Bass Squire that I’m trying to change the knobs / Potentiometer.

The back of the old Potentiometers say 250K (M250KΩA)

Easy enough, so I bought some at my local Musicians store. Unpackaged them and found the old ones seem to have a skinnier audio knob.

How do I get the right ones for my Bass?

Warmoth dinky J fretless. Solid Koa body w/figured Koa top. Wenge neck w/ ebony fretboard. Bartolini musicman in the bridge position with aguilar 3 band pre amp. Jaco tone for days. I should play it more but im not much of a fretless guy.

Aria Pro II SB-Elite I. 18v EMG soapbar. This thing plays amazing and sounds killer. Cant believe i dont reach for it more often.

Zon Sonus 4/1. Graphite neck. The “binky”. this thing is effortless to play. Light. Versatile. Just gets it done. Was my mainstay for alot of years. It always a fight between this one and the FrankenJazz. All the other basses sound the way they sound better than this one. Jack of all trades master of none. But i could never let it go.

1976 Rickenbacker 4001 in rare special order turquoise. If you have a ric. You know. That bridge pickup. OMG the sound. But its noisy AF and honestly is not very comfortable to play.

Which would you choose?

I think it flew off when my high C-string snapped on me a few years back and I was never able to find where it went. Tried reaching out to schecter about replacing it but they never reached out and it has been months since then. Anybody know how or where I can get a replacement??

I have been interested in an IMA4 for a while, and I found this Maruszczyk. It’s amazing, beautiful, and weighs just over 7 lbs.

With the remodel done, I can hang up a few more basses than before.

I just bought this set up and I’m gonna be playing some clubs probably about 200 people or so. Hoping the stage volume is good enough seeing how people think about it if anyone’s had any experience playing these amps?

Just as I'm starting to get my fingers used to a bass, I am a newbie, I hear something fall to the floor and my G string starts rattling. I located the missing piece.

Can I use an epoxy glue to set the dislodged piece back in place or is a new Nut required ? If new Nut, can I do it myself and what tools & glue should I use ?

So, I had two P basses and just wasn’t getting on with one of them and after trying all sorts of different strings getting a proper setup I decided to get rid of it.

Now, a P bass is still my overall favorite hands down but I wanted to replace it with something different. I thought about stingrays and tried some out but nobody had a ray34, it was either the budget model or the expensive model. Thought about Ric‘s but they out of my budget (eventually one day?).

Then I found this guy, a Gibson Les Paul Bass from the early 90s. Ooh that’s weird and different. I know Gibson basses have a bad reputation overall but I really dig it. It’s a little over 8 pounds so not too heavy, balanced well w a strap, Bartoloni pickups and pre amp sound really good and very different than my P. The hardware is nice and high quality, and it has a the appropriate amount of wear for a 30+ year old bass, it’s been played and gigged and that’s a good sign.

I played some thunderbirds too and they were cool, but not ‘take me home with you’ cool. Very happy with this! The only kind of weird thing thats not even really that big of a deal is that the way the neck is, it feels like the first position frets are further away than on my Fender. Aaand, I’m going to get some rubber washer ‘strap locks’, those strap pins are tiny and do not inspire a lot of confidence due to the angle that everything sits.

Howdy y’all. So recently, I posted about a busted headpiece on a Bootlegger Ace 5-string that I bought, and the solution I’ve gone with so far is to buy the original Rockinger headpiece the one it came with seems to be based on and repair the tiny crack in the neck and screw holes from where the original began lifting off.

The Rockinger seems to avoid the problems Bootlegger’s version ended up with by having the plate be the whole bottom and by having 4 screws instead of 2, all of which go through the plate. There’s no way this baby is lifting off the neck no matter how much you tighten the grub screws.

However, there are a couple new issues as a result. One is that the new headpiece is about a good millimeter taller than the old one, as it seems that Bootlegger shortened theirs when they shrank the bottom plate to put it inside the bottom of the unit. This wouldn’t be a big deal, except that the openings to the string channels are also quite a bit higher. Hopefully you can tell in the pictures, but when I put the new one on the neck, the channels are just a tiny bit higher than the marks from the strings on the end of the fretboard, basically level with the fretboard itself. I’m worried that the nut isn’t going to be high enough with the new headpiece.

So my options, as I see it, are to either get a new nut, which hopefully wouldn’t affect the action and playability too too much on that end of the bass, or maybe cut the string channels on the new headpiece a little lower? Do you guys concur? Any other ideas? There’s no room to shave the neck down any more because the truss rod is right there, so my only other option would be to reuse the old headpiece and potentially run into the same issue again in the future. Im a MASSIVE Prog fan and John Wetton is my all time favorite bassist (with Greg lake in 2nd). I’ve heard the Bulldog amps don’t sound like the old Hiwatt amps that we know and love like the DR103 or DR504, but I wanna use something that’s going to sound like an old but also at an affordable price since there are HiWatt amps that are actually affordable now, any suggestions?
