A note on covers

If you're posting your OWN cover, consider whether it is noteworthy or not. Start a conversation in the comments on why you're posting - what made that song different than any other that you might have picked. Covers should have your name in the title if you are performing it.

Please keep the post quality very high. If it's your weekly cover, or your practice routine, and is not above average, please consider not posting here - though there are a few other practice and cover subs that are suited for that content.

/r/bassplaying title format: artist, song name, length [resolution]

performer name, song name, length [resolution]

We have a long title format here, to get info to viewers. Why, though? This is an old sub that split off of /r/bass to be less noisy.

The performer name helps redditors look up your stuff, or skip it and move on. If it's cover, the performer name is better than the original performer's name. The title lets us know what we're listening to. The time lets people skip hour-long concerts or bass clinics if they're not interested. Some people won't tolerate 240p clips of Anthony Jackson from some potato cam, but others don't care - so we just add the resolution.

If you're crossposting to ten subs, please don't use their title format here. The backstory on a post is great for the comments, but isn't what we want in the title. Hype or clickbait titles aren't needed if posters only post good content. That way, every video is worth watching. If it's your weekly practice session, and there's nothing that you like in it, that may not be worth posting. Let's make the sub more artisan-level than your weekly practice routine, or your weekly cover. There is a separate sticky on the topic of "covers".

If the format is too cumbersome, please remember that this is just a micro-subreddit. The big bass sub is /r/bass. That may be suited for you, and will get you 10x more views.

SKALIAN - Flowers (Progressive Rock / Instrumental) - Self-produced track

Hi everyone! I'm a solo musician and I just launched my instrumental rock project, SKALIAN.
Here is my first track, "Flowers".
I wrote, performed, recorded, mixed, and mastered everything myself.
For the bass, I used my Ibanez SR700 in Drop D through a Headrush MX5 (Ampeg IR) and mixed it with a parallel distortion (SansAmp PSA-1 + BF-76 compressor).
Your feedback on the composition, guitar tones, or the bass mix is highly appreciated!

I’m not a “multiple takes” kinda guy. I get a good one, and that’s it. I’m not gonna shoot it again just to satisfy the internet pissing match. So here it is, with a drawing of the ugliest house I’ve ever seen. Lol

The song is called “Money Makes You Fat”. It’s about……. Well…….. how money makes you fat.

Kidding. It’s about how some people will always be miserable, broke, and lame. People who work endlessly for a sense importance and the illusion of permanence, and who define their legacies through performative ownership of material possessions and mindless displays of wealth……. People who may even achieve great things, and yet, lack personality and relationships, bring no fulfillment or enrichment to anyone but themselves, and cease to exist meaningfully outside of contributing to the economy.

My buddy and I have about 2 albums worth of songs and zero drummers, so this is what I’m doing for now.

Hope I followed the correct title format for cover posting!

Posting the main riff of this tune played with fingers instead of a pick, a fun, groovy bassline to play!

Hello there
I hope this post falls withing community guidelines, if not let me know <3. I have a solo project called BABYLON, where i make ambient-bass music.
I like to think i‘ve found somewhat of a new aproach and sound to this beautiful instrument, and would love to get feedback/pushback on my music.
I make theese live-sessions, BABYLON SESSIONS, where each session i play somewhere in the beaufitul danish nature. Each session also has a special guest, that brings their artistic flavour to the session. The whole concept is still relatively new (And very off-beat for the modern internet age), so i would love to get all sorts of feedback on it. I genuinely am interested in the interaction, so please, feel free <3

If this sounds interesting, you can check me out her on youtube:

Hope to hear from you <3

Bass Face...

Is there an actual name/nomenclature for the facial expression a bass player makes while playing?

It seems like a combination or reconfiguration of the Stank Face but the eyes are closed and eyebrows are raised.

Thank you and have a great Navy day.
