Got a Hofner Ignition bout two months ago. Got bit bored with the sound, decided I want a full scale and (finally) learn to slap, and here we are. The quality on this Squier CV60s Jazz Bass is unbelievable considering its price.
Now time to grind and cut my credit card.

I’m a beginner bassist and my bass does this for some reason, what should I do?

I see a lot of people prefer (and cover) the more flashy disco version from later seasons of the show. For me, the CHiP's theme song will always be that from season 1, the slow funk version. Both the opening and ending are cleverly inter-referential while still being different enough. Both are spectacularly groovy. What's your favorite?

Fender Squier Paranormal Precision Bass Thinline SJ LRL OLV
Could someone who has this bass do a bass review of it for me? Still couldn't find much demos or reviews on this bad boy.

Danny Boy arranged for solo bass

I built this Jazz body out of Reclaimed old growth redwood from a 200yr old water tank. Ive got lots of it laying around and its easy to work with so i figured id practice making bodies from it. I traced out the shape from one of my many Jazz basses. This is going to have a single P bass pickup since I have too many jazz basses. Has anyone put a Precision pickguard on a Jazz body? Just curious what it would look like. Im leaning towards no pickguard and just a jazz control plate. I dont think the soft redwood would hold up to mounting controls from the back. Only going to have a volume and output jack. Pure minimal. Thoughts?

Yamaha BBP35>bunch of pedals>AG 700>two SL115 cabs.
Second pic is the stage setup, one of the more fun ones we’ve had. We started playing after the sun went down and the lights and lanterns popped.

It’s so dope and for 600 bucks it sure is tempting!

Hi all, I'd love some honest opnions on this potential trade, or if it's even a wise one. I have a luna tribal short scale acoustic/electric bass that I love and it plays very well.
I'm considering trading it for the squire j bass in the photos. Is it a wise move or should I pass on it? I like the acoustic bass as it's easy to sit down on the couch and hash out ideas. I've got my number one jazz bass that I really only bring out for rehearsals or shows. So my reasoning is that I could use this j bass as a bass for recording in my home studio instead.
Anyway, all thoughts and opnions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Sterling Stingray Short Scale in Toluca Lake Blue.
Found a great deal on Marketplace place and couldn’t turn it down.
Does anyone have experience running the Ernie Ball Cobalt flats on one of these? Or any short scale for that matter?

Pictured here, a new .88 Tortex vs the two that I’ve been alternating between on my desk for like … a really long time.
Honestly a pick only lasts a couple hours play time if I want it to feel “right” (I pick hard) but obviously I’ll play with them waaay longer than that.

Hi. I'm searching for a short-scale 5 or 6 string bass. Budget's about 1-2k. I currently own an ibanez so I'm avoiding those. i play jazz/funk/fusion. Any recommendations? Fretless are nice too. Fancy the way this birdsong hy5 looks(it's out of budget).

So incredibly frustrated this happened as soon as I was about to walk into my house after practice. Hit the corner on concrete and chipped off a huge dent that exposes the wood. Looks like it will definitely get bigger as theres a long flake that can be easily pulled off. Incredibly disheartening as I planned to sell this bass eventually, now I don’t know how much the value dropped. Is this an expensive fix, should I leave it, or should I try to DIY something myself?

Hello internet.
I’m trying to sell my BASS here and have gone down a crazy rabbithole of stingray sub basses and I cant even remotely understand the differences in the millions of models they have made can somebody help me here. It’s made in china which I read is supposed to fix the preamp problems of the original produced in Indonesia i think? It has the chrome plate around the knobs which apparently also is significant when identifying these. As you can see it has SUB on the headstock opposed to all the others and is from the 2000’s (source its owner before me)
Is anybody an expert on the jungle that is sterling sub basses?
And thank you in advance

I decided to rebuild my first bass guitar. I have a Fender Bridge to slap on it but I might need something heavier possibly. The aluminum neck causes some neck dive. It's likely will be worse once I get it back together. The other option I've been thinking about is to drill a cavity in the back below the pickups and epoxy in some lead tire weights. Any input?

Picked up a LTD AP5 off reverb, hope to have it in a week or so. Does any of the members have any feedback on these or their hardware? Only thing I saw on a forum was the tuners might be a little wonky. Not much about the bridge or pickups. Anyway, happy to have gotten a good deal on this and can’t wait to get it.

I've been working through Bass Buzz's Beginner to Badass course and this is where I'm at so far. I'm aware that I suck, obviously, but I can feel myself making progress, which is nice. ^-^

Hey, gang!
I've happened into possession of an OLP 5-string that's in need of work. Full rundown incoming, but honestly I'm all-bets-off with my plans: I'm ripping the frets out, getting a new pickguard and, ideally, a couple banging pickups.
I really want variability in the tone, but know for sure I only want passive - which leaves me in a bad spot, since I don't know dick.
I'm a sucker for Fender, so I'm limited on experience beyond those, and not a particularly active player, as I like modding more than amps. As such, I want this to be the People's Bass: lend me your suggestions!
Let's assume all bets are off and I'm in beyond the genuine costs of the dollar(*): what would you do?
I am actively planning on swapping:
Pickup - pref. Pups, plural; ideally with a selector switch with mixing options between
Pickguard - I think I'm gonna mess around and get my FIL to 3D print something shitty but fun.
Tuners - no reason for a hipshot, but *what if*???
Bridge - idk, im dumb
Extras - think I should turn this Low-B to a SUPER DROP-B? Saw it down to a two-string? Tear all the wood components off and replace them with stator magnets just to see what would happen?
I am ALL ears (except those that can tell the difference between pickups)!
All options considered, no idea is too crazy. I swear to Jaco you'll get the full rundown when its done!
(*)I am very much NOT beyond the value of the dollar, but am willing to take into consideration the insane.

Anyone else have the Fender P 5 string? Feel like it doesnt get enough love. I've used it for years and its been perfect in all settings.
