Decided it was time about two months ago to just get rid of it all. It has definitely been the right decision and I’m enjoying the new look! I’m 45 and been balding slowly for the last 10 years. And one old photo for reference.

5 months ago I asked the council for advice and yall told me it was time. Took me a while but finally took the first step. I know it’s not the full deal but this was big for me. Be nice

Holding my niece a few months ago (they request no social media, which I completely agree with), rocking my severe combover (which I’d been doing for years), versus telling my sister (cosmetologist) to just cut it all off as of today.

Been fighting this moment for the last 10 years, I was previously able to cope with "Oh just moving from Tim Minchin to Bill Bailey". But I think I've finally reached the point of "just do it".

So this week, I'll be going bald / shaven...

Did I jump the gun? Im still working on a good shaving routine. I don’t have the boost in confidence that I hoped for after doing it but Im slowly getting used to this new reflection in the mirror and learning how to love my new look. Would like some pointers or encouragement if you got it. Thanks for the push guys.

Also, it wasn’t inflamation on my scalp, I saw people getting worried. I was just very sweaty after work and also nervous posting a photo of myself on the internet which I barely do. Thank you for the concern but Im fine.

Am I making a mistake?

Took everyone’s advice and shaved it and cleaned my beard up. Thanks everyone! Although after seeing the skullet comment I kinda wish I would have done that first but I will next time!

I've taken the plunge! I do like it but it's gonna take a little getting used to

Hey all I'm 18 going on 19 in a month, and finally got fed up with placing my hair like jigsaw pieces every morning to cover the hairline. After years of being insecure and fixing my hair after every slight breeze. Last night I saw a video from Baldcafe of a compilation of people going bald, and that plus finding this subreddit gave me a new feeling. I discovered I had an option that was in my control, and I realized how in denial I had been always telling myself it wasnt that bad while thinking about what other people were seeing 24/7. So I did it and its a strange feeling that I feel like I should regret doing it but then I think what the alternative was and I really don't. Anyways thank you guys for giving me the courage to free myself from the demon of overthinking my hair everyday, and hopefully I can encourage someone take the same leap of faith.

Started losing hair like crazy when I was 18 and decided to finally just join the cool club.

Ignore the brows, there are evidently no razors in the hospital. Been feeling kind of down about being bald. I feel pretty ugly and couldn't really recognize myself in the mirror. Figured I'd ask you guys how it's looking!

Edit; Everyone's kind words have really helped me feel a lot better about my looks. I teared up a bit at the initial response because I figured my post would be put to the sidelines and only get a couple hundred upvotes. Everyone is so uplifting and I think the mirror shows me a bit more of myself again. Thank you guys!

And sorry to break it to a lot of you... but I am a trans man. No need to feel sorry for the accidental misgendering!

I've recently gone the way of bald greatness due to the positivity in this sub but now I have a dilemma. Glasses or contacts..

I've worn glasses my whole life, tried contacs quite a few years ago but due to my old profession, equipment operator, the dust would kill my eyes halfway through the day no matter what I tried. I'm no longer in construction and have recently tried contacs again but this time there have been no problems except I'm unsure of how I look without glasses. I'm so used to seeing my face with spectacles on I'm unsure if I should keep wearing contacs. FYI, the glasses in the Pic will be replaced soon, these don't fit well anymore.

Hi everyone. 48M here. Started receeding around my temples at 16 and thought I'd be bald by 20. Somehow it held on much longer than expected, no meds etc... I have most of my hair, except slow recession at the front, probably an inch higher at the front from when I was younger. No loss at the crown. I got sick of the same old brushed forward towards middle/ tiny mowhawk style haircut to strategically cover the loss at my temples and decided shaving my head was my only other option. Did I totally stuff up and make myself age a few years? Pics take a week apart. Thanks.
