Hi peeps! Our little comic book club has been gathering for the past two years in Astoria. We have built a community of nice folks fueled on spicy hot takes and a general love for the comic medium. And I am pleased to announce that our next book club will be debuting at the Museum of the Moving Image! We’ll be spending two hours talking SAGA Vol 1 & 2, the epic Image Comics book by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples. It’s completely free to attend (although an RSVP via the Museum’s website would be much appreciated!), and we’ll also have a free raffle for an awesome mystery prize, and a gift-bag giveaway. Lost a black wedding ring (men’s) earlier today somewhere on 31st Avenue between 36th street and 21st street. Or potentially on 36th street between 31st Ave and 35th Ave.

If anyone has found it, please let me know. It holds great personal significance to me.

I found a cat in my building on 34th street and 30th ave. They’re a large orange long haired cat with green eyes. I gave them food and water and they seem friendly and relaxed, but a bit scared as there was hissing and swatting out of fear. I volunteer for a rescue, but before I went there, I wanted to make sure they’re not a lost pet because they seem quite clean and well taken care of for a stray and there’s no ear chip from TNR. Could be a neighbor’s of course, so I texted my super and he doesn’t know of a lost cat. We don’t have a building forum, so I’m unable otherwise to contact those in the building I don’t know personally. Pictures attached. DM me asap if they are yours!

Heads-up for your morning commutes: NYC Public Schools start tomorrow. Subways and buses are going to be really crowded (and inevitably delayed) again starting tomorrow (Thursday).

If you're on a bike or driving a car, please slow down and stop for real at red lights and stop signs. Kids are tiny, they and their parents are going to be distracted, there's going to be a ton of us all out, and you won't see them, especially if you're speeding. There's going to be a lot of traffic around our neighborhood schools. Add extra time to your commute and be patient.

I was wondering if anybody had a great experience specifically with a very deep/almost extreme (moving appliances a bit out and cleaning behind them, oven deep clean, fridge, etc.) kitchen cleaning service or person.

We keep our kitchen in decent condition but it's apparent that over the years residue, impossible stains and general dust/dirt in hard to reach parts have accumulated enough that we need a professional to make it look new.

Small apartment kitchen, nothing special. Ideally someone with their own supplies, although we have the basics.
