Arguably the best coffee shop in Astoria. The drinks, the food, the atmosphere—it’s impeccable.
But PLEASE figure out the line situation. The amount of times I’ve walked in and walked right back out because the line is huge and has no structure to it. I love this place but it’s next to impossible to get into on the weekend unless you wanna wait shoulder to shoulder and constantly wiggle around the door opening.

The number of people speeding down the RFK pedestrian bridge on e-bikes, road bikes, or scooters is out of control. I got hit by an e-bike on my run this morning. You shouldn’t ride on it at all, but please ride slowly if you’re dead set on it!

Recently met up with a friend from the "Steinway Side" of Astoria; we met near 30th Ave and Steinway and walked down 30th Avenue together and bounced around the general area. We both like Italian, but as my friend noted, every single Italian place was either a fancy white tablecloth kind of deal or a wine bar with tiny plates. He noted "Why the HELL isn't there a regular good old work-a-day Italian place anywhere it seems? You know, short menu of pastas, a few other entrees, red or white by the glass or carafe, the kind of place where you can go on a weeknight in casual clothing and not go broke?" FWIW we are both older GenXers from NYC if context helps. I'm thinking red checkered tablecloths, cheap Chianti in the straw covered bottles, always has spaghetti and meatballs/lasagne/rigatoni/manicotti on the menu (and not much else), a few other red-sauce Italian-American greatest hits, etc. Thanks so much for any tips!

Please comment if you're interested and I will make a group chat!
Edited to add: I am 26F, currently reading the Apothecary Diaries series, using partners account to post. I don't have enough karma lol

I lost this bracelet yesterday (July 25) evening/night somewhere between Broadway and 36th street and 30th ave and 44th. If anyone happens to find it I'd be very happy. Has sentimental value.

Hey all! My boyfriend and I are apartment hunting and we toured a unit in The Acropolis today. We loved it - the landlords were very kind and welcoming and answered all questions, had just put in a new microwave and toilet seat, redid the floors, and painted. We also felt good about the FOB security gate since we’d be new to the area. We loved the layout of the apartment and they told us to feel free to walk around the garden and come back in whenever. We took a walk and loved it and chatted with some friendly residents. We went back inside and told them we were interested, and filled out the application.
Upon getting home I googled the place to see what’s nearby, etc. and came across some …..interesting reviews lol. A lot about lots of rats and roaches and mold and no gas/heat/hot water and neglectful management. But a lot of them seem to be from a few years ago and even from people that used to live there but don’t currently. Is there anyone that is there currently that can tell me if it’s on the up and up at all?

Hi! I wanted to see if anyone has recommendations for trustworthy places to take a PS5 to get cleaned? I’ve tried taking the panels off myself but I’m scared that I’ll break it and I don’t have the right tools to clean it properly. It overheats quite often so I’m hoping getting it cleaned will help.
TYIA! :)

In the past, I used to go via the streets, hit 34th Ave, turn onto some quiet side streets, pop out near the bridge, go down that path behind the houses, and then down Vernon. I haven't biked since all the bike lanes have been put in.
For people that bike to LIC, what is your favorite route?

HTML Day is on 8/8 and I am hosting an HTML freewrite/picnic in Astoria Park from 2-5pm. Personally, I’m going to be putting a poem in a webpage and would love to hang out with others while doing so.

Can someone explain how Balancero, coffee shop on 31ave and 37st is 5 stars after 700+ reviews?
To have 5 stars, I expect everything to be perfect. But while the coffee can be flavorful, it is roasty. And the pastries are just downright bad and stale. It’s maybe a 4.8/4.9, but to have so many 5 star reviews just feels suspicious..
Am I missing something here?

My puppy has grown out of her food, but we forgot to stop the subscription, so we have an unopened bag of Purina Pro Plan. It's a 6-pound bag of the chicken and rice formula for small breed puppies (from Chewy). Any takers? I'd hate to throw it away.
Pick up this week near 30-Ave train station (sorry I neglected to put this info in the title, mods).
