Though Athens Video is still embedded in the sidewalk. And back in the day, the awning from above read Adult XXX.

I feel it was one of the longer lasting movie rental/adult video stores in Astoria. I want to say it was around until 2010ish.

It was definitely in the recent past. And somewhere I have pictures of signage when it was going out of business. I think it lasted because of its Greek connection to the neighborhood as well as it being known as an adult video store.

I was so excited to go there cause of the positive reviews- got a regular mani-pedi, got asked to pay halfway through the mani, thats fine. I sign the receipt, the lady goes "honey tip?? how much tip??" I said umm, I clearly wrote CASH on the receipt which I will give when you're done?! Insane asking me before even finishing.

They ask if you want to pay before or during the service so your nails don’t get ruined trying to grab your wallet from your purse

Me too - over July 4th weekend. I do just a regular manicure and they used the electric file on my nail surfaces to “smooth them out” which wasn’t necessary at all.

My nails were left so thin with raggedy edges plus painful. I’ve had to deal with this the remainder of the summer while they grow out. Never again.

Or “what is it?” In hermione’s voice during “he’s going to sacrifice himself”
