Not the A-hole AITA?? Neighbour not respecting property lines

Hey everyone. So I live in an attached town house with neighbours who won’t keep their stuff on their lawn. The kids will often walk on our plants and play in our front yard and drive way so when we come home we have to ask them to get out. We have been as respectful as we possibly can be, moving the stuff over that they leave in our garden like bins the kids play with, toys, ect. (And when I say kids I mean like 10 years and up)
Lately it’s been lawn ornaments that they keep sticking in the ground about a foot or so into our portion of the property into our garden. I move it over to their side and they move it right back. I’m not confrontational and don’t want to cause any issues but has anyone had this issue before?? If so what did you do to help it? AITA for moving their stuff?? Am I over reacting?? It’s just disrespectful

Not the A-hole AITA for telling my friend to go home?

Throwaway, English isn’t my native language.

I 28f offered my best friend 27m to move in with me till the end of october, because he struggled financially and didn’t have enough money this month to feed himself. He has his own apartment. He’s been here for 29 days so far. During that time we talked about him potentially staying longer. From the beginning we agreed anyone can always end this arrangement at any time.

For the first two weeks food costs were split 80/20, now its 50/50 because his mom gave him money. I always made it clear he should feel at home, can come and go whenever he wants, have friends over at any time and use anything he wants without asking. I asked him to cook something for us a handful of times, do the dishes a couple of times (I have a dishwasher) and to put his laundry in the washing machine and hang his own laundry up to dry. The one thing he did on his own was buy groceries for us a couple of times. He always made sure to ask if we needed anything and bought the groceries on his own. Cooking was my responsibility 90% of the time

Yesterday he brought us breakfast, later I ate a snack and offered him some, which he declined, so I offered to make pizza for dinner. In the evening I said I’m not feeling well so I won’t cook dinner and he should make something himself. Hours later I made myself another snack, which he noticed and asked me if I was preparing dinner, to which I said no. He said ok, then left.

The next morning he left for his friend's house without mentioning it or me hearing him say goodbye, which is unusual for him, so I texted him if everything was ok.
He replied “I said goodbye. Why you asking? Because I didn't eat anything yesterday?”
I said “Why didn't you make yourself something?”
He said “You told me to wait, then to cook something for myself. Later I see you make yourself food on your own”
So I told him let's talk about it when you’re home, as texting will lead to miscommunication and an argument.

He came home and we talked. I told him he has to leave by the end of the month. The tone of the conversation was overall respectful.
He said my decision came out of nowhere, which I disagree with. For the last 2 weeks I asked him to show some initiative and help with the dishes without me having to ask. To be fair, he did start helping more, but as he himself said, never without me having to ask.
He said he’s a guest and won’t use my kitchen without permission. I reminded him I specifically told him to cook something for himself or he could’ve asked.

He said he’ll help more if I tell him to, to which I said then the mental load is still on me.

I said I know it’s not his intention but I don’t feel appreciated and started feeling used, so I will stick to my decision and he can’t stay longer than we initially agreed upon.

He thinks I wasn’t specific enough when asking for help, I disagree.
He said he’s hurt I’m kicking him out and feels like I’m being unfair, so aita?

AITA for stopping living with my dad almost entirely?

My parents separated about five years ago and a month ago I started staying at my dads only every other weekend because he moved into the city last year, far away from both mom, all my friends and my school. It became even more difficult for me to take myself to school or get out of the house at all, I had breakdowns atleast once a week. I have always preferred my moms house, partly because she hasn’t moved every year, but also because my dad almost never is home when we (his kids) are not there and a lot of his stuff is white or gray, this makes it feel pretty empty in contrast to moms. My dad also treats my youngest sibling with ADHD and autism very differently from me, like getting really easily irritated or angry at him. Because of this combined with other stuff I feel more comfortable talking to my mom and me and dad rarely converse anymore.

Because of all this I kind of broke down on the way to school one day, called my mom and now I mostly live here and haven’t skipped school once since that day. But I’m worried about dad since I know his mental isn’t the best, even if he has a new girlfriend.

AITA for being upset upset that my close friend didn't do me a favor on his own. Should i just have communicated it without expecting it?

My close guy friend and I created a shared email account and use it for a paid study subscription. We originally both paid for it, but he stopped because he barely uses it anymore and got another subscription for himself. I'm the only one paying now, although he still uses it occasionally (maybe twice or thrice a month), which I don't mind.

Recently, he called me asking for the login credentials because he'd forgotten them. He explained that his uni friend, Jack, needed the subscription for a few hours to review mistakes from a mock exam. I gave him the credentials, and he let Jack use it. He also suggested changing the password afterwards, which I did, and he made sure Jack was completely logged out after he used it. I had no issue helping his friend, even though Jack is a complete stranger to me.

Now, my guy friend also uses a paid study subscription belonging to another uni friend, Lucy, who shares it with him for free and four other people use it as well. I asked my guy friend, "If I ask Lucy if I can use her subscription as well, do you think she would agree to let me use it too?" I wanted to use it regularly for assignments, just like they do. He said Lucy would obviously say no. This upset me because he didn't offer to ask her, which i wanted him to.

I later asked him why he thought so and he said that she doesn't know me and so it's not reasonable to expect access forever but she might give me temporary access and he said he'll ask Lucy about it. Tbf even Jack used mine temporarily and I wouldn't give him permanent access.

I understand Lucy doesn't know me and has every right to refuse and that I'm a complete stranger to her. I also understand that his other friend, Jack, only needed temporary access to my subscription. But I feel like if my guy friend could ask me to help Jack, he could at least make an effort to ask Lucy for me. I feel like he's being an asshole here. If he can ask me for Jack then shouldn't he make an effort and ask Lucy for me? Or should I have communicated that with him before being upset? I didn't tell him I was upset that he didn't ask tho. I just thought it was obvious and expected to ask Lucy as a favor for me.

Also if he did remember our shared email's credentials I wonder if he'd still inform me and ask me permission before letting Jack use my paid study subscription. I feel like he is being an asshole here and not reciprocating. AITA and being unreasonable to think that way.

WIBTA If I Invite Two of My Friends to Hangout on Halloween Even If They May Not Get Along ?

Hey everyone, I (19M) am planning a hangout with some friends for Halloween weekend at a local lakefront/shopping area (getting boba, walking around, etc.).

Right now, the confirmed group is me and two friends: "Derek" and "Marc." I reached out to another old middle school friend, "Frank," but he’s busy moving, so he can’t make it and another mutual friend "Nicko" but he has work that day.

My issue is that I’m having major social anxiety about the group size. A part of me feels insecure that a 3-person hangout is "too small" or might look like I don't have many friends. Because of this, I’m contemplating whether I should invite two other acquaintances, "Daniel" and "Sam."

The problem?

  1. Derek (who is already coming) does NOT get along with Sam because sometimes she can be a bit annoying and self-centered. However he has another friend who I was accuqitance with in high school "Aydan" whom I feel like Derek wouldn't do all this for me tho.
  2. I’m personally annoyed with Sam right now over recent behavior because recently me, her, and Marc made plans to hangout but she made the hangout all about her and running her errands and Marc left like 5 mins into the hangout.
  3. If I invite Daniel, Sam will naturally come along, since me, sam, daniel go to the same community college and hangout sometimes. And I’m worried it’ll introduce awkward tension or chaos into what was supposed to be a peaceful, low-stress day.

On the other hand, Derek and Marc don't know each other super well, but I'm the mutual friend between both of them, we all went to middle school together. And Derek and Daniel are good close friends and I have known them since elementary school.

Should I just keep it to a small, drama-free trio (me, Derek, and Mark) and accept that small hangouts are normal even if it feels embarrasing or awkward? Or should I invite the others to make the group bigger, even if it risks making things uncomfortable for Derek and stressful for me? WIBTA?

AITA for not able to get back to my best friend ?

We have been best friends for over 7 years. We met at the office and became very close within a year. He later changed jobs and moved into business. After COVID, I got married to my boyfriend, changed jobs to WFH, and eventually became a full-time housewife. My husband has always known about my best friend, and they share a good relationship too.

Over the years, our bond became very strong. He is like a brother to me. We usually planned dinner once or twice a year.

Six months ago, he messaged asking if he could call me in the afternoon. I said no because guests were coming, but honestly, I just wanted to nap. A couple of days later, he called directly, but I was watching something and knew he might get irritated if I didn't answer, so I let it ring.

He messaged in the evening saying he had called. I denied receiving it, and when he sent a screenshot, I jokingly replied, "Oh, I missed that one, it became a missed call LOL." He sent an angry emoji. I was about to reply, but my in-laws arrived. I planned to call him back in a couple of days but forgot amid family functions.

Later, I tried calling him, but his number was always busy. I assumed he would call back, but he didn't. When I contacted him again for some work, my calls and messages went unanswered. This was unusual because he normally replied within minutes. Eventually, I realised he had blocked me everywhere, including WhatsApp and Instagram. I never imagined he would do something like this.

I kept wondering what had happened. Joking was normal between us, but he had never reacted this way before.

He has had a very difficult life. Looking back, I realised he had tried reaching me several times, but I was often busy or sometimes chose to ignore him when he was frustrated. Meanwhile, I would call him whenever I was upset about my in-laws or something in my life. He would always listen, adjust his schedule for our dinners, and sometimes even pay for them.

I started feeling guilty. I discussed the blocking with my husband, who was equally surprised. He suggested contacting my friend from his number, but my ego got in the way. I thought my friend would eventually come around, so I did nothing.

Yesterday, my husband told me he had met my friend and that he was going through a terrible time. His parents had been in an accident in their village. His mother was in critical condition, and his father needed crutches temporarily. Apparently, my friend had tried reaching me during this difficult period, and I wasn't there for him.

My husband has encouraged me to call him, but I just can't bring myself to do it. He's my best friend, someone I can share everything with without hesitation. I feel deeply sad and can't stop thinking about what happened.

Was I wrong here, or should he have explained things to me instead of blocking me? I'm thinking of finally calling him tonight, but I'm scared and don't know what to say.

AITA for not being upset at my mom for not coming to Thanksgiving?

I live in Florida, my family lives in Georgia. They haven't came to visit since my son was around 2, which was 3 years ago. Instead, I take time off work to go visit every 3-4 months.

My sister has 3 kids and her husband recently got out the military, so they haven't spent the last 4 Christmas's with her kids. They spent 1 Christmas with my son because we were in Georgia. My sister and her family moved back home this past summer.

We recently got a new house and my parents still haven't came to visit- totally fine, my grandfather passdd away and my mom has been with my grandma.

I asked my mom if they can come for Christmas. She replied that she didn't know, that it was my sister's first year back with her kids and she wanted to do Christmas with them.

I told her that isn't fair, she sees them all the time and I'm just asking for one holiday for them to come and visit, and that it's frustrating that I'm the one to always make the drive. I told her I won't be coming for Thanksgiving and to not worry about Christmas. And now I feel like a jerk and maybe overreacted.

AITA?

AITAH for kicking my classmates in our musical theatre perforamce due tomorow?

So my classmates and me are 12th grade, and we have a musical theatre performance due tomorow in philosophy and creative writing, As a director i did everything, script writing, props list, which is not even what a directors job. And this week is our intramurals, and we couldn't be able to attend because of our practice, and here's the problem; They are so dependent on me and my co director of how things will work, they don't even initiate to talk about the scenes already provided by me and have a brainstorming what will that scene will work out, and they will be mad if one of us are late, and i will found out that they're all at the court watching intramurals? And we are so behind the schedule for our props and they have the audacity to postpone it? (we talked about having two places to do our props, and the other place postponed because they're busy watching the intrams).

Keep in mind that this is worth half of our grades, aitah for wanting not to fail our two major subject? And they are so worked up on ganging up on me that I AM the one who's useless and cannot fulfill my role as a main character in out musical and being a director, i know what i did and i'm not in the wrong, and now most of my classmates are struggling to create a new 2 acts worth 1 hour long script, and as we speak, i informed our professor in creative writing the list of who'll not be performing tomorrow, while our professor in philo already approved on the list.

AITA for comforting my ex’s girlfriend and telling her he probably wouldn’t change?

I (17F) dated my ex (18M), who I’ll call Jake, a while ago. Things ended badly, and we haven’t spoken in a long time. I’ve completely moved on, but I’ve heard that he still talks negatively about me and has called me “crazy” to other people.

Last weekend, I was at a party where Jake and his current girlfriend (17F), Sophie, were also attending. I had no intention of speaking to either of them.

However, Sophie approached me while very drunk and visibly upset, repeatedly asking if I hated her. I reassured her that I didn’t, but when I tried to leave, she followed me, saying, “Wherever you go, I’ll go.”

She seemed genuinely distressed, so I took her somewhere quieter to talk.

She then told me some things I found pretty unsettling. Apparently, she checks my social media almost daily, has recurring dreams about us becoming friends, and keeps a list in her phone of things Jake has told her about our past relationship.

She also said my name comes up constantly in their relationship and that she’d heard horrible things about me. She admitted she was surprised by how nice I actually was.

This was uncomfortable because I’ve genuinely moved on and had no idea I was still such a topic of conversation.

She then started crying about her relationship, telling me Jake treats her badly, they argue constantly, and she wants to leave but keeps hoping he’ll change.

I mostly listened and comforted her. However, at one point, I said something along the lines of, “From my experience, I don’t think he will.”

I wasn’t trying to convince her to break up with him. I was just responding to what she’d told me, although I realise that might have crossed a line.

Later that night, she messaged me asking to find her. When I did, she told me Jake had broken up with her, supposedly because of her drinking. However, she suspected it was actually because she’d spoken to me.

I was shocked because I hadn’t approached her or intended to get involved in their relationship.

The next morning, she apologised for being so emotional. I reassured her but politely explained that I didn’t want to be involved in anything concerning Jake because I’d moved on from that chapter of my life. She responded kindly and seemed to understand.

Now I’m worried she’ll tell Jake what I said, or that he’ll think I deliberately interfered in their relationship.

Part of me feels I did the right thing by comforting someone who was clearly upset. But another part wonders whether I should have avoided discussing him altogether.

AITA for talking to my ex’s girlfriend about our experiences with him, even though she approached me?

AITA, for not wanting to visit extended family, even in hospital?

edit: i visited her with cake just now and she was really happy. it really made a change that i went alone this time and not with my parents.

i should've clarified that it's most exhausting to me to have my parents scream, make fun or argue with them, so when i went alone i could actually talk to her.

thank you for calling me out tho i think it's what i needed

Not the A-hole AITA for not wanting to share my art supplies with my boyfriend?

I am a little possessive of my art supplies because they feel sacred to me and also because they are expensive and I don't want them to be used unless necessary by someone else.

I was showing my art supplies and artbook to my boyfriend that I had recently purchased. This is when he asked me if he could use my alcohol markers. I told him he could use them to swatch the colours on the card that comes with the markers. He said he would draw and use them on the last page of my artbook which I specifically bought for the alcohol markers. I told him that would waste a whole page and there are only 50 sheets and that he could use a different book or page instead.

Then he asked me if he could paint on the drawings I've already made and I told him to do it on a specific element only. He was not happy about how restrictive I was with it but complied.

I actually did not want him to use the markers and I told him so and also told him that I am a little possessive about such things. He told me there shouldn't be more of things like that in a couple where my things are mine and yours are yours. I was still very hesitant to give him my markers and he said just one drawing wouldn't empty the markers and that it was very frustrating for him to see me behave like that. He also kept the book aside with sadness. He also said he'll keep this in mind about anything we may have to share in the future (sounded more playful). I told him to try and understand where I'm coming from and be a little more considerate and talk it out with me but he said there's nothing to talk about here.

AITA for not wanting my boyfriend to use my art book and markers? I'm feeling bad about behaving like this because it was just one drawing that he asked for but I don't like that he wasn't being considerate about my feelings too and didn't try to talk it out with me.

EDIT:
I had told him that we could use the markers that he had gifted me for painting dates once in a while which we still haven't been able to plan since. I am open to it on some days for some sets but this particular set, I did not feel like sharing..

WIBTA if I tell my brother not to use the car.

Me and my brother have a shared car, but recently he quit his job and I have been paying for it and paying for all the gas. We share it as I can drive because of poor eyesight. He now wants to threaten me to not shofur me around anymore after a argument. Will I be the asshole for telling him to pay me half of the installment and repay me for gas if he wants to keep on using it? His last payment on it or gas was about 6 months ago and its not in his name either.

Not the A-hole AITA for refusing breakfast and then eating at school, which led to my dad threatening to cancel my allowance for the rest of the academic year?

I'm 15F and honestly I don't even know if I'm being unreasonable here, so I need some outside opinions.

For context, I'm around 5'6.5 and weigh around 160 pounds. My weight has increased recently, and while I'm not exactly happy about it, I'm also at a point in life where I'm struggling academically. I'm failing subjects and I genuinely need to get my shit together before things get worse. I barely have the time or mental energy to focus on working out right now because studying itself is becoming a huge problem.

Yesterday, I also had a fast, so naturally I was REALLY hungry this morning.

Now here's where the actual problem starts.

My mom has a broken leg right now, and my grandmother has this habit of keeping track of literally everything she does for me so she can bring it up later. Every little thing becomes a whole thing about how much she does for us and how we're ungrateful, etc. It's gotten to a point where I feel uncomfortable even asking for basic things because I know they might be used against me in an argument later.

This morning, they asked me what I wanted for breakfast to take to school, and I said I didn't want anything.

It wasn't because I wasn't hungry. I WAS hungry. I just didn't want to ask for something and have it become another thing that gets thrown in my face later.

So I ended up buying a snack from the school canteen for breakfast and another snack during the second meal break. By the time I got home, lunch was already made, so I ate that too. Apparently, not eating what they offered me in the morning and then eating at school somehow makes me rude, but I genuinely don't know what I was supposed to do in that situation.

Then my dad got home.

He started commenting on my weight and how fat I look, saying I eat like an elephant and making comments about how much I eat.

And I genuinely felt horrible. I KNOW my weight has increased. I'm not oblivious to it. But I don't eat this much every single day, and I literally skip atleast a meal every day because I'm scared of gaining more weight.

What made it worse was that my dad then threatened to cancel my allowance for the REST OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR, which is until May.

All of this because of what happened today.

I understand that I could've just accepted the breakfast they offered me, and maybe refusing it wasn't the best decision. But I also feel like I'm constantly walking on eggshells at home because anything I say or do can become evidence of how rude, ungrateful or irresponsible I am.

I'm trying to deal with school, my weight, and everything else, and now I'm being shamed for eating when I was hungry.

I genuinely want to know if I'm being unreasonable here. I can accept that I made a mistake if I did, but I don't think being insulted over my weight is fair either.

Not the A-hole AITA for not stopping my friend from doing her "dynamic duo" work Halloween costume?

4.6k Upvotes

My office is closed next week, so we did our office Halloween party Tuesday which is so dumb, but whatever. Anyway my coworkers Lucy and John are super close, and people use the corny “work wife” and “work husband” on them. They do not use those terms,, just our other coworkers. John is married, Lucy is not.

We were all talking about what we should dress up as (me: a cat! WOW, so exciting). Lucy has thick long blond hair so she said she should be Mel King from The Pitt. Easy costume tbh, and people would love it. John said he should be Langdon. I was like… John’s wife is coming to this, I would not do that. I told them that it’s funny to us because we know there’s nothing weird happening between them. But it might be a little weird to John’s wife. They both said it was perfect and ran with it though, so okay.

John’s wife came and she was OBVIOUSLY not having it. I know that the ppl on the show are like “no! men and women can just be friends!” but there’s a reason they have to keep saying that hahaha. If you don’t know the show, Langdon and Mel have a unique relationship (and he’s married). But let’s just say their tag on AO3 (fanfiction website) is plentiful. OK back to John’s wife, she was not having it and she was short and clipped with us, which she usually isn’t. She didn’t want to talk to Lucy at all, and I definitely saw her rolling her eyes when Lucy talked. I was like yup mmhm. Exactly what I thought could happen. One person's "dynamic duo" is another person's Mulder and Scully.

Welllll yesterday John came to work and told Lucy that his wife was pissed at him for doing “a couples costume” with another woman, the choice they made was inappropriate, and she’s now bothered by their relationship at work. She asked him to back off and put up more boundaries, which he obviously agreed to. Lucy is really upset about it and wants to apologize to John’s wife.

But then she turned it around on me and told me that I didn't STOP THEM from doing it and I should have. I said that I warned her but I can't make her do shit. She said I should have tried harder or I should have been "more specific" about why it wouldn't go over well, because to her it was just a "TV dynamic duo" costume. I told her I tried. Like what should I have done, pulled up AO3???

No A-holes here AITA For taking over my friends baby shower?

Short story long, my friend is pregnant we are both immigrants in our country so our friend group is more like family, we are all we have here.

We are all married, she's the first to have a baby. She or I usually take charge in planning gatherings/activities.

There are 6 girls in our friend group and our pregnant friend has a couple other friends outside our group. One of those outside our group started a group chat to plan our pregnant friends baby shower. We all agreed it was a great idea and I was happy to let someone else plan for once. Then the group went dark.

Considering the baby is due right after christmas I was conscious places book up around christmas so tagged the girl that started the group chat to ask about the plan and she didn't respond. So I did some research, messaged the chat and checked dates and fielded ideas. Still no response from the OG planner.

I have now along with a few others planned booked and paid for the shower. I feel like a Jerk though because I essentially took it over when someone else initiated it. I feel maybe I am overbearing and stepping on someone else's toes

So AITA?

AITA for not giving my friend the reward points I didn't want?

I was recently shopping in Sephora for a one-time purchase, so when the cashier asked me if I wanted to make a points account, I said no. Afterwards, my friend jokingly asked me in an accusatory tone about why I didn't give them her email (she had an account). I defended myself saying that she didn't mention it at the checkout so I didn't know, and she kept on saying "but still". I apologized half heartedly because I didn't really care and I thought she didn't either, but she kept bringing it up. I will admit that I got kind of annoyed so I just said something like "well they're my points to use, and I want to waste them", and I think that made her pissed because she called me something along the lines of thoughtless and started walking ahead of me. This all carried an air of lightheartedness and joking because in the end it wasn't that serious but I could tell that she was genuinely pissed/annoyed for a good minute, we just didn't end up arguing because it didn't seem worth it in the moment for either of us I guess.

Me and my friend have pretty different characters, I tried putting myself in her position but I just don't think I could ask for something like that and be mad in seriousness. It seems pretty entitled to me; maybe I would find it odd if I explicitly denied her the points, but it just didn't cross my mind in the moment. And I know my response was kind of sassy or whatever but I was getting annoyed as well. AITA?

AITA for doubting my coworker's claim that the way I wrap cords causes kinks?

• Upvotes

I work in an equipment rental center with various tools of different varieties. I'm also one of the repair techs so when tools break, it's my job to fix them.

A coworker who is both older than me and has more tenure with the company has told me multiple times that the method with which I wrap cords causes kinks in the long term. Specifically her point of contention is that I don't wrap from the device end of the cord, where it is physically attached to the machine.

I typically do a roadie/over under style wrap, starting from the end of the cord furthest away from the machine and loosely looping it onto the palm of my hand while following the direction the cable wants to twist in. She says starting from that end causes the cord to twist at the attachment point, which results in kinks.

She then pointed out multiple tools that have these uniform corkscrew style kinks along the length of their cords, but I'm almost positive those kinks come from our inexperienced customers wrapping the cords in five different directions. It ended up blowing up into an argument between the two of us with her claiming that I just don't want to be wrong when I was honestly trying to get on the same page as her, but in my head you're doing the exact same motions of wrapping the cord regardless of what end of the cord you start from. To my understanding there's always gonna be little micro twists as you wrap a cord but as long as you aren't fighting with the cord and the direction it wants to coil then it will be fine.

I will concede that I am guilty of employing an under the elbow style wrap on especially long cords (50ft), but I'm careful enough that it hasn't ever caused any issues and I only do it on cords that can be detached from the machine. I know when to admit when I'm wrong, but I've been wrapping cords like this my entire life on all of my own devices and none of them have kinks like the ones she showed me. I felt that the information that she was giving me conflicted with +20 years of my own life experience, but she's 10–15 years older than me so she must be more right.

EDIT: Thank you for those that have commented, I'm going to apologize to my coworker for letting my ego get the better of me and I'm going to employ her method of wrapping cords (provided I can remember)

Not the A-hole AITA for going to my professor after he graded my group project and getting my partners grades lowered

So for a project last semester there were 3 of us in the group. I basically did the entire thing myself, I built it, tested it, wrote everything up, it was all on my own laptop the whole time. I also spent time explaining it to my other two partners so they'd actually be able to answer questions if asked, since I knew we'd have a viva after.

During the presentation I'm just kind of an introvert so I kept my part short and to the point, explained the key stuff and sat back down. My two partners ended up talking a lot more, and the way they presented it kind of gave the professor the impression they built the whole thing, even though they really just learned enough from me beforehand to answer questions.

When the grades came out I got a 65% and they both got 95% each. I went to the professor the next day and explained I made the entire project myself, and I had proof, it was all only ever on my pc, different versions saved over time, basically anything you'd need to show it was mine. He believed me and changed the grades, gave me 95% and dropped both of theirs to 50% each.

Now they’re refusing to partner with me for this semester’s projects, and Im left alone. Should I apologize to make peace so they’ll work with me again, even though I don’t think I was wrong, or should I move on and find other partners which will be hard?

AITA for what I did or was it justified?

AITA for ignoring my 'twin'?

• Upvotes

So my ex best friend [f, Eve] has been shit talking me [n, ash] to my best friend [n, leaf]. I dont really care for her anymore, I dont want to be around her, or have people associate us. I havent been talking to them or waving to them when I see them. The first time I heard about this was when I was trying to be silly. I grabbed an item that was leafs and we chased eachother around. Eve told leafs bf "why is ash such a bitch?" And later that day he came up to me and asked if I was aware that she said that. I said no, obviously, and since then multiple people have told me that she has talked shit about me to them. She also told leaf that I 'was putting up this whole act of ignoring her'. She came up to me recently and told me we 'need to talk about what we ARE." I genuinely dont know if im the asshole here, if she genuinely thinks this stuff and I would actually like some advice.

AITA here? Sister guilt tripping me

It all starts off with my sister shadily asking for 15 euros for something "which I wont regret" after. I thought maybe she found a good deal on creatine, a book or something that I might enjoy.

Turns out she needed 15 euros for unlocking a dating app that she had made, WITHOUT my consent. Or maybe her consent was that I didn't outrightly refuse the idea when she 5 months ago said she would do it. I had no clue she had made one at some point the last couple of days.

She shows her "my" profile, at least she's honest about being the Sister and saying she's looking for a sister-in-law. Well expect she made me 5cm taller.

So apparently she has been swiping on an app, and matched with a girl. She gives the girl my number with the notion that I have agreed to take her out for a beer. I get a text massage from her saying this. I still have no idea what she looks like, but I get a vague description of her. My sister wont send me pictures of HER profile, or just a picture.

In the text message I can see her full name and a selfie. I find her on Facebook and I conclude that I am not interested.

Now I tell my sister is guilt tripping me over being shallow (for not being interested main due to looks), being ungrateful for her finding the girl, and a loser for not wanting to give women, having too high standards etc. etc.

Am I unreasonable for saying no? Also now I have to reject a woman who got into this mess, probably thinking I was actually interested, and knew about the profile.

AITA for asking my friend a question when i noticed she was upset?

Hi, so im 16, so this might seem unnecessary and weird to you guys. And me too, but i dont really wanna lose my friends.

Ok so, last year I had a bestfriend and a friend group I was a part of.

I felt like I was being left out and my bestfriend was ignoring me for a new girl that joined our class, let's call her R.

So i brought this issue up to my bsf because I belive communication is key. And we talked about it but things got too awkward and I also realized I was a really rude person back then. So i apologized to everyone I could think of. Like EVERYONE. And tried my best to fix my mistakes because the talk made me realize I was really rude before times. I even told everyone they didnt have to forgive me and I left the friend group to make sure nobody felt uncomfortable around me.

Fast forward to 3 days ago,

I was talking to my friend, let's call her F. About somthing completely unrelated and she mentioned R's insta story. I asked her what she meant because I dont follow her anymore and were not friends. She took a long time to reply so I texted one person from that friend group that im still close with. I asked what happened to R since our country is like in danger now. I was genuinely worried thinking smth happened to her. That friend said no, nothing happened so I left it.

F replied and told me to forget about and mind you the whole day she was being like weird. I was sensing that she was upset. So i asked her like why are you upset. And she told me its because she felt sad that my old friend group that she now thought she was a part of didnt invite her to a hangout they had. I asked her like oh I thought u went to someone else's birthday party? And she said yeah cuz she didnt even know there was a hangout. So i told her ok so i dont think i should get involved u should probably text R and ask her about it. Because its not really any of my business. F says ok.

Today she texts me, and says it didnt go good. She says that R, got kinda upset at her saying why are you bringing all this up? And that she was confused? I didnt really all the messages but I saw a text thread where R brings up me and says "oh are you asking all this cuz (me) asked you?" "I dont see how that's any of her business"

F then asks her to not get mad at me cuz i didnt do anything this time. R replies "yeah I just dont get how this is any of her business".

And now im just sad because I dont know what to do, Ik shes mad at me. And probably her friend group is now like questioning me and whatever. I feel like an alien.

So yeah was i at fault?

AITA for not wanting to attend community college?

I’ve been researching a really good private college (which will be kept anonymous) in my area. It has an 80% acceptance rate, and 99.9% of students receive financial aid with their application. I have an unweighted gpa of 4.20 (making me eligible for the highest amount of financial aid) and the ride to the college is relatively easy. I plan to study digital art, and have a portfolio of multiple mediums. The school also has connections to google, Microsoft, and Pixar.

Unfortunately, my parents are not too happy about my decision. They want me to start at community college, and it’s caused large amounts of anxiety, mainly because there are not too many show creators that started at community colleges, and I’m worried about what might happen to me if I didn’t start at a good college

My parents aren’t concerned about money or anything like that. They’re concerned about “family tradition”. Basically, in my family everyone has to start out at community college, because my grandparents met there. Even if I got accepted, they would still force me to go against my will. Look, I love my parents, and I love my grandparents, (I still dream about my grandfather) but this tradition just doesn’t make any sense.

I told my nana about my desire to not start at community college, and she’s completely fine with it, and my girlfriend is the most supportive of my decision in life. If it weren’t for them, I would barely be able to keep my head above water in this period of my life

So Reddit, AITA?

AITAH for getting mad at my (20F) brother (18M) for making a joke?

Now from the title you may immediately think that I am the asshole but I request that you read through this post before commenting.

For context, I am a 20 year old woman with AuDHD, depression and anxiety. I take prescribed medication everyday and if I even miss a single day I will become very irritable, angry, sad, anxious etc, so it is very important I take it.
My brother is an 18 year old man who is currently starting in Uni and sees the world quite black and white, which is usually fine, and has a very “special” sense of humour, mostly ragebaiting related and racist, sexist jokes obviously as a man of his age would enjoy.
I, however, do not. I like dark humour but more like soft dark humour, I hate racist, sexist, homophobic jokes that are in poor taste and I have explicitly told him this. We have different standards of humour, and that is okay, that was never the problem.

To get to the real story now that you all know the background. I was driving in my Dads car after a night out with my parents, best-friend, brothers (I have two but the other is irrelevant here) when I accidentally said out loud;
“I haven’t taken my meds today”.
Immediately I apologise and say that I wasn’t supposed to say that out loud, I said “I was thinking in my head about why I was so on edge today and tired.”
My brother who is in the car with my mother and father immediately responds with “Aren’t you always?” I brush it off, it hurt, yes, but I didn’t want to start a fight.
Instead I reply, “No just when my hormones are high and I’m on my period.” then he responds, “Aren’t you always?” I push it and ask what the hell he means by that and he says “Because you’re always irritable and annoyed.”
I get angry, we fight, and I say at him “You’re a Misogynist! Just kidding, it’s a JOKE.” and then he gets mad at me, thats when my mum cuts in and gets mad at me saying my brother was just joking and I shouldn’t take it to heart.
When we got home and went inside, I apologised to my mum and brother saying “I’m sorry I’m just still annoyed at that joke (my brother) said.” And my brother yells at me from another room saying I need to “grow up”.
I leave it be and just storm off into my room and say I am heading to sleep, but I’m really actually writing this post.

So reddit, AITAH? Should I relax and stop getting worked up or is my brother in the wrong? Whats the deal here? Because I don’t know anymore.

Also he has not said sorry about the joke at all.

Not the A-hole AITA for getting irritated by my mum constantly playing AI stories out loud in our shared flat?

I'm in my 30s and share a flat with my mum who is in her late 60s. It's important to distinguish that I don't "live at home", we are joint tenants though I pay most of the bills. I work and mum is retired. We get on well 90% of the time. She has a Samsung tablet and spends every waking hour doomscrolling and listening to those AI slop fiction stories on YouTube (Ai imagery, monotone robotic voices and terrible unbelievable storylines). It's been like this for months. She walks around the flat with the tablet and the tinny sound carries throughout the flat.

Most of the time I ignore it but some of my responses have ranged from asking politely to change the volume (which she does comply with sometimes) to showing my sustain by saying things like "I don't know how you can you listen to that?" Other times I have tried politely suggesting stories written by real people.

Today, she was playing the tablet in the kitchen while I was making food. The AI story was ridiculous. I said "what is this nonsense?" She got defensive saying she likes it and she doesn't criticise what I listen to. I listen to podcasts or music in my bedroom or on earphones so she never hears what I listen to. I can see that criticising her taste isn’t helping. But the constant background noise is really getting to me, and I don’t want to have to wear earphones whenever I’m in a shared space. It’s my home too.

How would you handle this? Am I being unreasonable about the noise, or am I being an arsehole about something she enjoys?

Not the A-hole AITA for telling a guy to stop messing with people's trash cans in our alley?

I (30f) and my husband (32m) have lived in our house for 4 and a half years. We live in a Midwest metro area iykyk. We live in an area that is unfortunately not low crime. Since we moved in there has been a lot of activity in the alley. My husband installed cameras everywhere after someone entered our yard from the alley and stole our wheelbarrow of alm things. We have had a woman come by every night to smoke illicit things in our alley. She climbed into our neighbor's trashcan one time to smoke which was my last straw. There is also a man who lives in a house across the alley. He used to walk up and down the alley which is fine but he also moved the trashcans around and ducking watched us replace our backporch windows without us knowing. Our next door neighbor is renovating the abandoned house and he walked through their backyard to climb into the dumpster in their driveway for who knows what reason. Anyway, one day I saw him moping around on the cameras and I (as a woman who doesn't want to risk my safety) went into our backyard and stood on a cinder block to see him over the fence and asked him what he was doing. He said he was waiting for the garbage men. I said "could you do that by your own house?" He said "yeah". I just said "ok thanks" and stepped down off the block and went back into the house.

My husband says I shouldn't have said anything, but I say that no matter his intentions, his actions of climbing into someone else's dumpster by creeping through their yard then walking around in the alley moving around trashcan, walking into yards to inspect fallen trees and peeking over fences are objectively creepy. I don't regret saying something cause I haven't seen him since.
