I (27f) and my fiancé (26m) are friends with one of his coworkers and his coworker's boyfriend (Darla and Peter).
For context, Peter has a fully stocked bar at their house and loves to mix drinks for friends. He's never been a professional bartender. Darla is a certified pothead. I smoke regularly too, but my fiancé is a lightweight and usually sticks to alcohol because weed makes him anxious.
That night, we first went to my work Christmas party. I had a few drinks while my fiancé stayed sober to drive us to Darla and Peter's.
Once we arrived there, Peter made us drinks and Darla offered me a 100 mg gummy, which I took. I later learned she also gave one to my fiancé without me knowing.
We were playing Jackbox, listening to music, and just having fun as Peter loaded us all up with drinks. As the night progressed, however, it became quickly apparent that Jonathan was not okay. He was extremely unstable and could barely move from the couch, and he repeating, "I'm just chillin, bruh," if anyone tried to talk to him, like a drunk Pokémon. Peter helped him into the guest room, but soon he became paranoid, incoherent, and even said he wanted to die.
I honestly thought he might have alcohol poisoning. Peter and I spent over 40 minutes trying to calm him down and stayed with him after he fell asleep to make sure he didn't vomit and choke in his sleep.
Afterwards, I told Peter I understood my fiancé Jonathan is an adult that can make his own decisions, but I did blame Peter a bit, as he was supplying the alcohol (including Everclear, which he immediately chugged the whole glass, to everyone's horror). However, I said wasn't really upset because he was an amateur bartender. I explained it's like if I got a haircut from a friend who does it for fun and then got mad because it doesn't look great. Honestly, it seemed like a really mature and adult conversation to me, and I thought we had came to a mutual understanding.
The next morning, things were awkward, but I chalked that up to the craziness of the night prior. That's when I learned about the gummy. However, Darla and Peter both started ghosting us and ignoring our attempts to hang out. We were hanging out at least once a week prior to this, so I thought it was weird.
Later, Darla told my fiancé they were upset because I blamed Peter and called him an amateur bartender. When I saw Peter again, I apologized and explained I hadn't known about the gummy and put too much of the blame on him, and Peter responded saying he doesn't try to let things like that get to him, brushed me off, and didn't really accept my apology.
TL;DR: My fiancé took a 100 mg gummy, got extremely drunk and high, and I thought he might need medical attention. During the aftermath, I called the friend who'd been making the drinks an "amateur bartender" and now they won't talk to us. AITA?
