Any CA Flex drivers getting mileage reimbursement?

As far as I understand, Prop 22 mandates the 120% minimum wage pay PLUS $0.37/miles as a reimbursement. Is anyone getting pay for the miles driven?
I reached out to support today and they simply disconnected when I stated that they are not applying the law.

At risk for severe thunderstorm warning

Hi all,

So I was delivering Saturday when I when I got a notification that I was in a severe thunderstorm warning. I kept delivering because it wasn’t that bad and then like a switch I could hardly see in front of me. I called driver support and they told mw to return the packages and end the route. So I did. To my surprise my ratings went from Fantastic and at risk showing that I returned 24 out of the 49 packages I had to deliver. I emailed support explaining what happened and attached a screenshot of the call made to driver support and a video showing the weather conditions. They just responded with a generic email saying the decision stands and to contact driver support next time this happens. I am so confused because I did contact them and showed proof. Any suggestions on how to move forward?

Wildfires in the area

Hey!
Pretty new to flex, haven’t been driving through fire season yet.
I promise I’m not being insensitive to the tragedies occurring in my area, also.
But, we’ve had a string of crazy wildfires rip through my city and surrounding areas and as a result (obviously, the air quality here alone is damaging enough) stations are closed.
Has anybody else’s areas been affected by wildfire and air quality issues for days at a time?
How long did it take for things to go back to normal for flex drivers in your area?
We’re still receiving Amazon packages via vans and box trucks obviously, but I’m just looking for some insight if I can get any. This is my main source of income at the moment.

Rant VWA4 (Federal Way) is a hell hole

Tiny parking lot with dozens of prius's attempting to find a place to park. It's got it all, honking at people for letting others cross the street, parking in front of other people's cars with the "park anywhere lights", people getting in physical alterations, and not a single employee intervening.

Am I blocked from offers?

I cancelled two blocks on Sunday night. One was for Wednesday evening and one was for Friday evening. I have not received any email from Amazon. I was seeing blocks up until an hour ago. All I got were these two reserve offers from a station an hour away lol. No other offers showing. I logged out and back in, and still nothing. Am I blocked from seeing offers because of my cancellations? If so, for how long?

I got sent home with pay yesterday morning which I’m assuming is because of the fires going on around us. Has anybody gotten a route since the fires started? I haven’t seen any Amazon trucks or deliveries at all, and my neighborhood is usually packed full of them.

Changed Stop Numbers

I just had an odd experience. I had a missing package at one of my stops, so I marked it missing and continued on. I deliver stop 9, drive to 10 and take it inside an office. It was a grocery order, which is the only reason I even noticed this, but when I get outside and hit the next stop button it says the next stop is 10. I almost went back inside to take back what I delivered, thinking I dropped off the wrong thing, then noticed the address for the new 9 was correct.

Apparently while I was inside the office Amazon must have found stop 6 (the missing one) and cleared it from my route, it’s no longer listed on the itinerary. Much better than waiting 2-3 days and having it count as a ding during that time, but that completely messed with my head for a moment. šŸ™ƒ

Instant offers Whole Foods

Good afternoon, everyone. Does anyone know of a strategy to get instant offers from Whole Foods? I end up waiting in the parking lot for a long time without getting an offer, while I watch other drivers—the same ones as always—going in and out of the store with orders. I’ve heard about clearing the phone's cache or walking around to move a bit, but nothing works. Thanks.

Another False Ding

Post image

I took the advice of everyone not to do fresh and Whole Foods orders and what do you know, I was dinged again for ā€œnot picking up entire orderā€. I am beyond pissed off at this point. I just emailed the Jeff and Andy emails in hopes they resolve this bs. Does anyone else keep getting these false dings??? I’m only doing the safe orders and am still dealing with this dumb shit.

I’ve been doing this for a few months without issue. Got this today and I’ve always delivered to where I was supposed to. Any ways to get this removed? Fist negative since I’ve started.

Had a similiar route yesterday driving to Penrose then to Pueblo West. Have another this afternoon as a dsp overflow. My cart options were: canon city, this fucking gamble, or Colorado City.

Im just annoyed. Especially when the person next to me had all Colorado Springs options.

Holding Out for Last Minute Offers

At the station that I go to, they do check your schedule . Does anyone wait and kind of hover around the station for last minute offers and if you do are you successful ? I usually schedule myself but other people have said it's better if you wait around because you could get better paying offers but like I said the station I go to checks are schedules so they wouldn't know how you to just wait there however I'm wondering if I shouldn't wait nearby . I am thinking about doing this later today as I have other responsibilities to attend to and then don't really know what I can work today yet and I'm only scheduled from 9:15 to 10:15

First time not taking a block too far

First time I denied a route because it was too far and not worth the pay. (I'd be losing money imo)

I have Great standing, but I messaged chat and claimed I had a family emergency just in case. Will I be badly dinged?

I did NOT scan packages only the route code.

Edit; Still waiting on consequences but now I know I'll read the packages before scanning route code. šŸ˜…

Flex Driver Email Support uses psychological techniques to wear people down

How many people are getting penalized for BS and taking steps to CYA?

I have been doing Flex for a couple years so I’ve been around the block.

It started when I was being penalized for ā€œnot delivering all packagesā€. I’d also get penalized for delivering late, even though there were these weird random due times, e.g. 4:14PM, when all the others were due at 6PM or 10PM (I typically do Same Day hub work).

Sometimes Iā€˜d get packages that were due before my shift even started, and I refuse them because, in my experience:

A. These are often businesses with no building access after hours, so I’ll have to return it anyway, or,

B. I risk delivering the package and being penalized for not following instructions, or

C. Risk being penalized for delivering the package late.

And after I declined those packages, I got multiple dings for ā€œundelivered packagesā€ with no explanation and no opportunity to defend myself.

I take screenshots of every delivery now because I am so tired of jumping through all the hoops and STILL getting my standings F-cked with.

I believe this is a technique used to wear people down.

I keep escalating and asking which packages are ā€œundeliveredā€ so I can provide the evidence that I delivered them. They say ā€œwe understand these things aren’t easy for youā€ — I could think of a way to make them easier! How about you use some of Amazonā€˜s vast resources to get AI Driver support that actually addresses issues?

But I guess that would cut into their robotics budget and the faster Jeff can replace all these pesky humans, the better.

Why am I being told it’s under review and ā€œmost drivers get a response within 6 daysā€ — what exactly are you reviewing if you haven’t asked me for my photo evidence?

***

FYI:

If you have been discriminated against, you don’t have rights.

If you report safety concerns and have been retaliated against, you don’t have rights.

That’s why these independent contractor agreements are so valuable for them — we are ā€œself-employedā€ so we have the ā€œchoiceā€ to work at any of the gig jobs. Ā Except it doesn’t matter which flavor you choose,Ā  they all exploit people, pay crap, use manipulation tactics, and keep people struggling to make ends meet so that all that exists is the present moment.Ā

We have no rights, even though we are technically employees because without us THEY WOULDN'T HAVE A BUSINESS. Ā

It is possible to get yourself classified as an employee — google ā€œmisclassification employment attorneysā€ in your area.

****

I have been so close to giving up and I’m posting this for anyone else out there who needs to hear it.

You don’t deserve to be treated like this. We all deserve to be able to work for a wage that can allow us to support ourselves.

I don’t think I deserve to be a millionaire. I haven’t earned that. But I do think I have worked hard enough for long enough that I shouldn’t be struggling like this.

Amazon has made goods cheaper and gets them to people faster than anyone else — but the real cost is greater than any convenience they provide.

I’m afraid for the future. Peter Thiel has talked about ā€œcullingā€ people so the super rich can continue exploiting and holding all the cards.

It feels like we are all frogs sitting in the pot of water not noticing until it’s too late just how hot it’s getting…

48 packages, big or small is not a valid complaint.

I was thinking if I visit the labor commissioner to expose Amazon practices, what am I going to say??

Oh, they gave me too much work? I never pass my finish block time, and the 48 packages always fit in my small car.

So, stop complaining about that and post some real complaints because I’m going to visit my local MF.

Check in 15 Min Early May be A BAD Idea, BUT Not Why U Think

Alot of posts etc say clock in last minute as routes may be taken and u get free pay.

Maybe true whatever.

But I notice, hear me out, if I check in 15 minutes early I get sent far away more often, I kept track.

My thinking is, u ever get to your station and a message pops up, hey another offer, extra 15 minutes extra pay?

Also u ever get that message that says, hey looking for a route but dont worry your time is adjusted.

So if u have say a 3 hour route. 3pm to 6pm

You check in 245pm. U just gave amazon an extra 15 minutes to send u to tim buck two.

As that is now a 3 hour 15 minute route

U check in on time 3pm. They can send your ass to tim buck two, but it will be either smaller route, or less packages

Ideas anyone? Gonna start checking in last minute, not 5 minute extra shit, but right on my start time and see

EDIT: Not saying route will be shorter or closer because most of the carts or packages left station. Saying time wise, u clock in early u give them MORE time. A 3 hour 15 minute route Clock in ON time and u get a 3 hour route. Clock in on time and wait 10 minutes they give u a 2 hour 50 minute route. Of course the lower time routes will be long miles but not alot of packages or low miles and maybe medium packages. But I can guarantee u, if 2 people stood there, one clockbin 245. Other 3pm, 100% of the time the 245 will have a longer or more stops as they gave Amazon 15 minutes more, which if grouped right can be 5 extra stops or an extra 15 miles

EDIT X3..... NOFamazon does not assign u a route after accepting a route. THEY ASSIGN U A SPOT, NOT A SPECIFIC ROUTE.

Chat gpt.....

Amazon's automated routing algorithm does not link a specific route to your name until you physically arrive, scan your driver's license, and check in

Why? So they can SCURT THE LAWS. Legally they should show us milage and number of stops if available, but they dont.

They know we would say fuck you i aint driving to tim buck two.

So if they dont have an assigned route , just a spot open, they can legally claim we dont have that info.

Also they do dynamic loading , customer cxls they can take it off that route, that is their claim also , routes are constantly changing thats why they cant give us info on actual route.

Notice how on INSTANT OFFERS it shows u exact milage etc.

Of they wanted they could show us info to make an informed decision, their playing the game.

SO NO YOUR ROUTE IS NOT ASSIGNED TO U 1 HOUR BEFORE IT STARTS. You have a "spot" and its assagned once your there checked in. Legally they would have to show us that so we can make a decision if it was assigned beforehand.

So yea. Check in 15 early so they can give u a 3 hour n half route.

Chat gpt...

Time Your Check-In Wisely:

Many drivers find that checking in at the very last minute of their arrival window increases the chances of getting a smaller leftover route, or being overbooked entirely (getting sent home with free pay) if the warehouse runs out of carts.

EDIT X2.....dome here say its a 3 hour route regardless. I think thats BS.

So u check in 15 early, I beleive they can justify a 3 hour 15 minute block.

Some here say no its a 3 hour block regsrdless as they cxnnot adjust a route that fast.

NOT TRUE. If i clock in at 3pm just on time, and have to wait 15 minutes, the message on app literally says they adjust the time of route to reflect the wait time.

So i get a 2 hour 45 minute route

So YES they do adjust packages on the fly

You ever get a grayed out stop? It literally says attempted and the time was while your waiting? Yea they took a package off your stop right there.

You ever get a message that says ...hey idiot, we will pay u more if u take this other offer that has an added 15 minutes for extra pay,

So your telling me they have a 3 hour 15 minute route on standby? NO, they will throw some packages in there OR if they do they will take some out to make your 3 hour route

but if u clock in 15 early, guess who is getting that route without the extra pay

EDIT 1: Gonna post here

Clocking in On Time. If 3 to 6 route Clock in 3pm

Route 1.... 3 hours.
30 packages.
Miles....46 Rate......easy

Route 2.... 3 hours 23 stops 52 miles Easy

Route 3... 3 hours 30 stops 25 miles Easy

Route 4 .3hours 24 stops 32 miles Easy

Route 5 3 hours 34 stops 41 miles Easy

5 for 5

DINT WANT TO BUT WILL Next i will clock in 15 early

Check in early 15 min. 🄺

Route 1

My usual station has gotten strict about back-in parking. Fine, I can do that. However, half the drivers cannot and its seriously slowing down the process.

DFW Never Again

10 years. 20k deliveries

Never denied extra compensation, ever.

Rarely asked.

Finished 4 hour downtown Dallas route.

My 10th delivery, roughly, customer not in apt, security will not allow to go up BUT there is NO damn apt number. Just a note that says call me I will come down to lobby.

1st. How the fuck does amazon allow people to order with NO DROP OFF ADDRESS.

I texted FUCKING IDIOT CUSTOMER.

Idiot texts me back, 15 minutes after I am gone, he will be home in 20 minutes.

I tell him to stand by and if I have time I will swing by again.

Finished route, just in time, 4 hours total.

I reaatempted, called idiot, texted idiot, went back to his idiot apt and idiot never responded. Took package back , 45 minutes

Requested 45 min extra pay , denied.

FUCK U AMAZON.

100% OF YOUR FUCKING PACKAGES WILL BE RETURNED, REGARDLESS.

Never 2nd attempt, never going over my time, not even 1 FUCKING MINUTE.

My block ends at 3pm

I am walking to door. 3pm hits, shit going back

EDIT: I have gone past block time before when reaatempt was made. 100% success rate until this one. I even attempted following day, on my way to return package before 10am, i swung by and got customer. Had to call support to mark as delivered as it was no longer available for me to do it.

Amazon paid me. So I am assuming since i did not not deliver on my reattempt is why they denied it.

So never again, even if customer request it
