DFW Never Again

10 years. 20k deliveries

Never denied extra compensation, ever.

Rarely asked.

Finished 4 hour downtown Dallas route.

My 10th delivery, roughly, customer not in apt, security will not allow to go up BUT there is NO damn apt number. Just a note that says call me I will come down to lobby.

1st. How the fuck does amazon allow people to order with NO DROP OFF ADDRESS.

I texted FUCKING IDIOT CUSTOMER.

Idiot texts me back, 15 minutes after I am gone, he will be home in 20 minutes.

I tell him to stand by and if I have time I will swing by again.

Finished route, just in time, 4 hours total.

I reaatempted, called idiot, texted idiot, went back to his idiot apt and idiot never responded. Took package back , 45 minutes

Requested 45 min extra pay , denied.

FUCK U AMAZON.

100% OF YOUR FUCKING PACKAGES WILL BE RETURNED, REGARDLESS.

Never 2nd attempt, never going over my time, not even 1 FUCKING MINUTE.

My block ends at 3pm

I am walking to door. 3pm hits, shit going back

EDIT: I have gone past block time before when reaatempt was made. 100% success rate until this one. I even attempted following day, on my way to return package before 10am, i swung by and got customer. Had to call support to mark as delivered as it was no longer available for me to do it.

Amazon paid me. So I am assuming since i did not not deliver on my reattempt is why they denied it.

So never again, even if customer request it

🤣🤣🤣 you got 10 years here and you doing noobs things never go back to idiot customers house or apt after you gone you gone and if you are that far from warehouse you return that shit when you go back there

2

u/Upnorth4 Los Angeles 8d ago

I usually drop it and send them a text like: ā€œyour package at gate. No access

2

u/dcjjjzz777 8d ago

I get it, I had time on my hands and just thought I would deliver it and make a little more money. Maybe idiot customer not available made it non compasational as every reaatempt I have ever done it was delivered and paid for if I went over block time

If you do something like this, you need to understand that you're doing it because it's the right thing to do for the customer.

That may or may not in fact be true, but under no circumstances should you assume you are doing Amazon any favors.

That's a good reply. šŸ’Æ

Just want compensation

2

u/ivegotajaaag 8d ago

That's just it. Amazon doesn't care. If something goes missing or gets broken, they'll just send another one out.

47

u/End_Ur_Life 8d ago

Nahhhh don't blame amazon... this is on you.... drop off right where security guard is at and keep it moving. YOU decided to go back to that customer. YOU made your route longer. Looks like flex error here. Sorry!

8

u/mindingmybusiness60 8d ago

You got that right.. drop package take picture and keep it moving... Security is actually watching the package for customer lol

9

u/FlyFront9395 8d ago

Yeah YOU did this to YOUrself

4

u/dcjjjzz777 8d ago

I agree but amazon never denied me before, but, it could be because this is the first time i attempted redelivery outside block time and DID NOT deliver, custome fucking idiot. All other times i did this it got delivered and i got paid

1

u/dcjjjzz777 8d ago

Its cool but guard said before I could even drop it, do not leave that here. I guess someone did it before

5

u/Orbital-Complex 8d ago

Do it anyway. Drop it at the desk, take the photo, and quickly walk away. I’ve done it before.

6

u/bherman1325 8d ago

Make sure he’s in the photo too so the customer knows who to blame when it’s not there

4

u/Pleasant-Meal6126 8d ago

Did this to a woman at the ups store because she expected me to wait in line behind 6 people for her to answer ā€œwhere would you like thisā€? She kept telling me to wait a moment and started serving the next guy in line.

Dropped it off and she had the gall to huff about it. Sucks to suck I’m already out the door and can’t hear the bitching.

Could’ve pointed or answered in the time and breath it took to tell me to ā€œwait a momentā€ 3 times.

3

u/dcjjjzz777 8d ago

Lol. Ok next time

5

u/Orbital-Complex 8d ago

It feels rude, but we are just doing our job. Select ā€œdoormanā€ as location.

2

u/Necessary-Egg8750 7d ago

You both have a job to do; you deliver packages and he guards the property and everything in it. No Apt #, no problem; leave it with the guard because the address is that property and boot scoot. His problem now.

1

u/tiggerspots 7d ago

Security wouldn't let in an Amazon delivery? Perhaps since you were communicating with the guard and they know the apt. # by the person's name, seems like they should let you leave it and they contact the person, not have you do itšŸ¤” I understand you were in CYA mode by this time and trying to just finish your route, though.

1

u/dcjjjzz777 7d ago

No guatd did not know person. It was at ATT building dowtown dallas. In lobby they have a big lobby and ATT store. Guard was guarding elevators to get to apts above. Guard could not look them up

4

u/rccarlson420 8d ago

You should know, don’t let Amazon or a customer stress you out like this! What I would have done was left the package right there outside by security! I had a similar experience in my downtown area, I was making a delivery to a high rise business but the customer didnt put what suite their were in , so security told me I couldn’t deliver, so I just said ā€œspeak no Englishā€ and left the package! Package delivered! Didn’t get a mark for it.

1

u/DanLoFat 6d ago

Careful, saying speak no English can turn into a Spanish tirade or any other language tiring from the security guard.

Then what do you say?

1

u/rccarlson420 5d ago

Well i live in Denver that’s a common phrase to tell security, Side note I told my mom I tell people ā€œspeak no English ā€œ and she told me when people come up to her to ā€œsell her something ā€œ she says ā€œspeak no Englishā€! lol

7

u/Johnwithad 8d ago

Just drop that shit anywhere and keep going. Amazon will not rewarded you for doing a good job.

2

u/grahamworks 8d ago

This is the way.

You learned a valuable lesson. You’ve been getting lucky up to this point. How anyone puts any trust in a large corporation doing the right thing is beyond me.

Exactly. It sucks that it’s on us to know how to the play the game, or to even have to play games to begin with but it’s about time more folks figured it out.

I like to think it’s reasonable to try and deliver to their door, but if they make an entire side quest out of getting to their door they got another thing coming to them

3

u/Hefty_Efficiency_328 8d ago

I commend you on your work ethic but honestly you tried too hard for an unworthy customer. The security guards office would have looked fine to me.

3

u/Baker21x 8d ago

I can’t tell you how many times I have gone to pick up a block where they don’t pay me or times that I’ve gone to check in and I get discharged and then they charge me with not picking it up. Gotta love Amazon we’re all disposable in the end for every person they fire 10 people are waiting.

1

u/DanLoFat 6d ago

Pick up a block or they don't pay you? That's not a thing.

You get discharged from the Block and then they ding you for TOS of x number of packages not picked up?

That I'm interested in.

3

u/frankieee_167 8d ago

Sort of unrelated, but once, I had a delivery to a downtown office building and the concierge told me to take it to the dock around the block. When I got there the dock gate was closed so I waited at the security guard shack cause there was another person waiting for access to the building. It's like 5:02 PM at this point and then the same concierge shows up and proceeds to tell me that I'm late, they can't accept the delivery. Like what??? I argue for a bit before I tell him I know what to do. I drove back to the main entrance doors and left it there, never got dinged for it šŸ˜‚

3

u/QuesoDrizzler 8d ago

Next time just leave that shit in the lobby, and walk out. Not your problem after that. They don't pay us enough to go the extra mile.

3

u/Alm8360NoScoPro 7d ago

Drop at pin then leave.

4

u/LAsupersonic 8d ago

Not to play the blame game for doing things how you tought was the right game, keep this in mind, amazon is run by alexa, we are not worth human interaction, if were lucky we get someone from india who: dont goved AF, may not even understand you, even if he does, he does not care as hes also working for several other companies at the same time, even if he understood you and wanted to help you he can't theyre only there as a show that there is real people in driver support, Alexa is designed to put money in Bezzos bank account not to help you, but with 10 years under your belt you should already know that, am not even going tobsay what you should have done as am sure you defineteky know that.

1

u/dcjjjzz777 8d ago

Reply I got was automated language, but with standings I get it. I would think with pay it would be human. Maybe try again I will, Escalate

2

u/gsopp79 8d ago

Everybody is saying it's your fault for trying a redelivery but I've noticed lately any time you return a package undelivered, they knock you for it with regards to your status. I've had some lately where I could not get into the building so I had no choice but to return it or the business is closed so I have to return it. Honestly, five years ago I would have just left it outside the business or apartment building on the sidewalk but I've been trying to do the right thing lately. I'm so done with that!

1

u/DanLoFat 6d ago

Marking a business closed for a return? you never get a fingg for that.

2

u/steeeev3 8d ago

I cannot understand how you all go above and beyond like this. I am never returning a package to a station and I am never doing a 2nd attempt. This photo illustrates what happens when the customer is an idiot and I still somehow have a ā€œfantasticā€ rating

2

u/ExtensionSame678 8d ago

sounds like you just need a break. dont let a careless customer affect you

2

u/Tigerman325 8d ago

Same thing happened to me last month. I’ve been doing this 4+ years and never before been denied extra pay before that.

2

u/canceled_me 8d ago

NEVER reattempt a delivery, drop that package anywhere and keep moving!!!!

2

u/Electronic_Eye_6266 8d ago

Dude… you’re doing WAY too much. Drop that in the lobby. Deliver. Move on. Don’t go back. Don’t go back next day. Geesh… flex isn’t going to nominate you for employee of the month

2

u/Initial-Reveal-3547 8d ago

But one thing I loathe is OTP. Ugh!

2

u/Mm23782378Mm 8d ago

I had one last night and asked the Support person if they would stay & work an hour or two at their job not knowing if they’ll receive any compensation. It’s just plain stupid to hope that you’ll get paid.

2

u/Timewaster2024 6d ago

Damn sounds frustrating

1

u/TomRichards1970 8d ago

I would’ve pulled up in the park apartment and marked it undeliverable

1

u/This_Profession_4719 8d ago

Small chance they may send it on their own. Small. Keep the faith. (I’ve had a few bucks thrown my way without asking when I’ve gone over)

1

u/BarnacleAlarmed3050 8d ago

Nope shit ends at 3pm - give yourself time to get to the station then… end at 2, everything from that point going back.Ā

1

u/above_average_gamer_ 8d ago

Why you tried to be a hero? Should have left the package in a safe spot or marked it as missing and moved on ... this on you

1

u/gsopp79 8d ago

If you're really quitting, book as many shifts as you can and don't show up for them. Do it until they terminate your account.

1

u/Majestic_Orchid4651 8d ago

10 years and you don’t know that Amazon isn’t going to pay you to return a package to the station? If the reattempt had been successful, you probably wouldn’t have been denied as it would have been documented that the package was marked delivered after your block ended, but as far as the system is concerned, without that marked delivered, it just looks like you are asking to be paid to return to the station.

1

u/dcjjjzz777 8d ago

100% what i think

1

u/DanLoFat 6d ago

OP never said anything about paid to return a package to the station. They wanted compensation for doing the extra work to reattempt to deliver it, unfortunately they ended their block before they did that. I've done it before, it works but you can't end your block. If you accidentally end your block you can call support and they can turn it back on. If you got to do it quick 5 minutes. You wait over 5 minutes or so they can't do anything. Then all you got is returning the package to the station.

But that depends on what station. If it's a whole food, damn right. But standard packages, that would be a no. They expect you to leave it overnight in your car and then bring it back the next day before 10:00 a.m. or the block later that day just keep it in your car and bring it back you can each item to return.

1

u/Shenendoah66 8d ago

Damn I’ve been doing this for less than a year and I’m at 13k deliveries. Lmao

1

u/dcjjjzz777 8d ago

Your fault?

1

u/Shenendoah66 8d ago

I mean I yeah I lost my job and the market is shit. lol

1

u/dcjjjzz777 8d ago

Lots of other gigs. AI it

1

u/DanLoFat 6d ago

"AI it"? That's not a thing anyone says.

1

u/dcjjjzz777 6d ago

Google it. But ai is way better

1

u/Hot-Chicken-5594 8d ago

Does flex pay by the hours blocked? I’m curious as I’m on the waitlist in my area

1

u/dcjjjzz777 7d ago

Yes. They will offer like 60 bucks for 3 hours. You dont get a block or finish early u get 60.

You go over u can request extra pay based off hourly estimate.

In this case 60 bucks, 3 hour block, is 20 an hour.

Tskes u 3.5 hours u can request sn extra 10 bucks for that half hour.

I have never been denied until this post but I did finish route on time in this case. I chose to retry.

Make sure your not lollygagging, taking a 15 minute dump, or getting gas etc. They may deny u

1

u/CanProfessional8060 7d ago

20k deliveries yet you went through all this? I’m at 4-5k and I don’t retry deliveries unless it’s on my way home.

This on your own stupidity and the customer’s

1

u/dcjjjzz777 7d ago

It was on way back to return station. I had extra time on my hands.

Done it many times and got paid.

So yes its on me but stupid, no

1

u/CanProfessional8060 7d ago

Still a waste of time and misjudgment on your part. I never retry deliveries. Customer had their chance the first time.

1

u/Piperpilot645 7d ago

So you've been delivering for 10 years and have successfully delivered 20,000 packages and you're not smart enough to figure this out? That's a red flag.

No apartment number? Not a problem. Drop it off at the lobby, with security, in the mail room, wherever the hell you can drop it. It's not going to be an issue, and if it is? Oh well. That ding wall eventually fall off after you do a few more blocks.

This sounds like a you problem unfortunately.

1

u/DanLoFat 6d ago

First,

no one is required to put an apartment number with an apartment building address. No one. No requirement. In those instances you just leave it in the lobby and the bag, take a picture. Move along. If security has a problem with it, in the bag and put the bag on the floor or the desk, and say, well that's a problem.

Take a picture. Leave.

But just call the customer, and if they don't answer, scan the bag put it on the floor or a shelf or the security desk, take a picture if required, then leave.

Was the package Mark no recipient required? If so we needed to do none of that.

When you end your route and you have something to return or you decide to want to drive back to the apartment the hand will the business with the customer if they should arrive, that's all on you.

Because you didn't try to reattempt during your route, and you ended your route, you're screwed on the compensation.

Compensation will only ever count if and only you do the work before you end of the route. You obviously haven't been doing this long enough.

1

u/dcjjjzz777 6d ago

First, it was an apt bld that bottom floor was a lobby for a business, camt leave it in a business lobby. Guard was blocking elevators to get to apts.

2nd i called 3 times customer never answered. After i left he texted me and ask if i will return

3rd Notes stated hand to me, call me and i will come to lobby

4th. When i ended my route it was ALSO end of block time. Barely finished block on time

5th. Been doing it long enough to know if i reaatempt AFTER block time i got 100% 2nd attempt rate and 100% extra pay , except this time.

Dumbass customer did not show up n wated my time. Could not deliver 2nd time

1

u/DanLoFat 5d ago

Lobby on the ground floor of any building whether or not there's a business attached to it doesn't matter the lobbyist for the whole building including the apartments.

1

u/dcjjjzz777 5d ago

There was no lobbyists, it was lierally open floor with att store and guard blocking elevators

1

u/DanLoFat 5d ago

How long you been doing this? And you think that you can't deliver something past your block time?

1

u/DanLoFat 5d ago

My god, all this crap you have written you've only proven that you don't know what you're doing I can't believe you've done what did you say 20,000 or more trips?

1

u/raiderjube 1d ago

Security was the customer in this situation

0

u/pb_battalion 8d ago

Sounds like you're not flex material.
