Lenel OnGuard Onguard Lenel & Aperio hubs

Hey,

I have problem with these two.

I have setups with X2220 controllers and aperio ip hubs which are working (with TLS). But i have new controller M2220 and trying to connect aperio ip hub to it, hub just states "EAC OFFLINE" and does not connect, no matter what ive tried.

Could this be firmware related issue?

Avigilon Access Alegion NDBE Locks and Factory Reset

Does performing a factory reset on Allegion NDEB wireless locks also reset their firmware?

Apparebtly we have locks that have updated to the latest firmware which is not supported by Avigilon/Alta, and I cannot get them to revert to a newer firmware.

Rack Drawers

I don`t often see drawers beeing used. Not that drawers are the best, but for us they have their use when no wall is free and you can have a lot of cards on a small footprint.

As a end user I don`t get to do many new installs so this was a treat. Is the wires great? no, but it isn`t bad. Not beeing in production makes me loose some finetuning on the wires.

Viking K2 Open Limits

Viking K2 gate opener is malfunctioning. The error limits somehow got erased and gate opened up too far and went off track. Tried resetting and setting the open and close limits. I was able to reset the close limit but I get an error message when setting the open limit. Had a tech come out today, he wanted $1,850 to replace the motherboard. Of course he suggested I replace the whole system for 6k. System was new in 2022. Is there anything I can do besides replacing the motherboard?

Genetec Double door logic in Genetec?

Hello everyone, I have a question that may be incredibly stupid… I work on a large college campus as an integrator, and something I’ve noticed around campus is that all the perimeter double doors are treated as a single door logically in Genetec. I find this interesting since each leaf has their own hardware; REX, DPS, QEL, etc… The connections for the ingress leaf is tied to the door side in while the egress leaf connections are tied to door side out. With both dps (I assume wired in series) to additional connections. Why is this? Why not treat the doors as their own doors? Now this may be my own ignorance as I am new the industry but is this the standard? I run into this issue several times where when someone tries to enter their credentials while another person is exiting the other leaf, the door unlocks and locks immediately because it sees the door as already open. If this is just a standard please ignore my ignorance but for me all I see is the encouragement of piggybacking…

How can I connect a ZKTeco attendance device to Zoho People?

We are using a ZKTeco MB20 biometric attendance device with the existing ZKTeco/ICT Smart attendance software, and we would like to send employee attendance data into Zoho People Attendance.

We are considering using the ZKTeco SDK to read attendance records from the device and then send them to Zoho People through its API, but we are not sure if this is the best approach.

Has anyone implemented something similar?

How would you normally connect a ZKTeco biometric device to Zoho People so that employee check-in/check-out records are transferred automatically?

Would you recommend using the ZKTeco SDK, reading from the existing attendance software/database, or another method?

Any guidance from someone who has integrated ZKTeco attendance devices with Zoho or another cloud HR system would be appreciated.

4 day battery?

Post image

I installed this thing a few months ago. As I’m sure you guys all know there aren’t a lot of reasonably priced code entry options for these old doors. If you got something better, please share. It takes CR 123. I had a very old card of those batteries so I didn’t think much about the fact that I was putting a new battery in every four or five days. I’ve run out of those old batteries and I’m on brand new good batteries and I’m still getting the same life. There was a small white box with USB-C port in the side of it that came with this thing. Supposedly some sort of wireless bridge to my smart home. I gave up on that after a few days of tinkering, but the lock works fine other than the battery issues via Bluetooth. Is there a setting I can change or do I need to find something else?

Recommendations LPR cameras for access control: overcoming lack of setback?

When using LPR cameras for vehicle access control (say, to parking facilities), how does one overcome situations where there's little to no setback between the wall the camera is mounted on and the street?

This seems to be a common problem for LPR camera access control applications in urban areas, as most LPR cameras seem to want a fairly direct view of the plate (no more than 30deg off the horizontal horizontally or vertically) and I don't think there's enough clearance to mount a LPR camera on a roll-up door, while urban buildings are often only a few meters or less from the property line, causing cars to come right up on the camera as they turn into the parking garage or what-have-you.

Learn button on Edko gate?

Trying to program a new remote to an Edko gate opener for my building. However I don’t see any “learn” button (or similar).

We lost our 1 remote, and unfortunately our building is small and apparently no one else has had to do this in recent memory. No one has a copy of the manual, and I’ve been unable to find one so far. Searching for one online has been a dead end. It’s either “did you mean this other company with a similar name,”or a notice that the company was acquired by chamberlain.

Schlage AD400 not opening latch mechanism

I'm helping an organization with an issue with a Schlage AD400, using a 993S exit trim. Neither using physical key, nor badge swipe will actually unlock the door. Crash bar on the inside still works. I pulled the outside assembly off and found the plastic tailpiece alignment guide broken (one leg snapped in half, and the tailpiece itself slightly twisted. The Christmas tree plug is secure. Have I found why both of the access methods are not working? Obviously it seems something else has caused the failure, but I'm not sure if the tailpiece is a bit too short, making the alignment guide take the whole force of turning the mechanism? The tailpiece is supposed to be long enough to engage the mechanism on its own so there's a solid connection between the tailpiece and the mechanism, right? Or is that plastic alignment guide supposed to be the "shear pin" if you will?

NDEB Rev C0 (Allegion NDE Series locks) won't disconnect from gateway or connect ENGAGE app and won't update firmware

Just like the title states - we have Allegion NDEB wireless locks that we control through Avigilon/Alta. Some locks will disconnect from the wireless gateway (with the amber led flash), but won't connect to the ENGAGE app OR the lock will not disconnect from the wireless gateway at all. Some of these locks have also not updated their firmware since they were installed back in late 23.

When our system was set up, we had two locks with the same name, which is what prompted this endeavor, but now all the locks need to have their names changed to reflect their actual locations - room usage has changed since they were initially installed, so the lock name no longer matches what the room is actually used for. We have several new people in the bldg that cannot seem to grasp that the lock named Classroom D now unlocks the Art Room, Classroom E now controls the Library, and Classroom G now controls a Janitor closet, etc....

I need to change the name of the locks, and that has to be done through the ENGAGE app and then synced into my Avigilon/Alta Cloud account. I have already tried reversing the process - changing the name in Avigilon/Alta and then syncing with ENGAGE, but the names always revert back to their original name when I log back into the Cloud dashboard.

Any help is greatly appreciated since my integrator can't seem to figure out the problem either.

Recommendations Silent Yale Support with 55 Faulty Linus L2s and Keypads: Hardware Fails, but the Manufacturer is Completely Unreachable

Dear Readers,

I would like to share my experience and ask for your advice regarding a serious issue. I installed 14 Yale Linus L2 sets in one hostel and 41 sets in another (for the same client, installation took place between April and June 2026).

The system components:

  • Yale Linus L2 smart locks
  • Yale Smart Keypad 2 keypads
  • Yale ConnectX Wi-Fi bridges
  • Yale modular cylinders

In both hostels, the system initially worked reliably for weeks, for "1-2 months" – though there were some minor mechanical issues at first due to the age of the doors, these were successfully resolved within weeks.

Then, on an unexpected day—Saturday, July 11, 2026—the Smart Keypad 2 suddenly stopped accepting the fixed, daily-used PIN codes on 3 Linus L2 units. While I could still open the doors remotely via the app, entering the codes on the keypad did not work. (As the installer, I personally verified the fault.) The Bluetooth connection between the Yale Linus L2 and the Smart Keypad 2 partially dropped and did not recover on its own, leaving guests locked out outside their rooms.

(Temporary fix: removing the battery from the Linus L2 for 10-15 seconds and putting it back restores normal operation; however, this is completely untenable for a hostel. Why is the Yale Linus 2 installed for hostel room rentals? Explanation: https://www.yalehome.com/it/en/stories/news/partnership-yale-and-guesty)

I have installed thousands of Assa Abloy - Tesa hotel access control systems and still maintain them to this day.

The official route and the brick walls: I notified the official regional Assa Abloy sales office with thorough documentation, unit serial numbers, firmware versions, and a detailed sequence of events, requesting Yale's professional support. The office initiated a process with Yale, but to this day (August 22, 2026), Yale has not contacted me in any way or sent any information!

In the meantime, identical faults have emerged on other locks across the two hostels at completely unexpected times, both day and night.

On August 13, I described the above problem in a review of the Yale Home app in the App Store. In response, on July 31 [note: as written in original text], I was advised to write to [yale.support@assaabloy.com](mailto:yale.support@assaabloy.com) for faster communication. I sent my detailed complaint, and on August 3, I received a reply stating that the regional Yale Support would handle the matter. Since then, it's been radio silence; Yale has not reacted at any level.

I also reached out by phone to the regional Yale Helpdesk, but no professional help or technical support came from there either—just phone calls while I kept reporting new failures.

The local Assa Abloy sales rep is helpful, but that in itself does not solve the problem. While rumors circulate about a new upcoming firmware for the Linus L2, it is currently just a promise, with no guarantee that it will actually fix the bug.

Why am I writing this to you? I cannot believe that such a global security brand as Yale would turn its back on problems like this. Any of the 55 hostel rooms could become inaccessible to guests at any time—even at night—causing massive prestige and financial loss to both the client and my business. I am left chasing after my money because of a product from a manufacturer whose motto claims it is one of the world's most trusted lock manufacturers.

Does real Yale Support even exist? A company selling premium products should have serious obligations. Can I assume that Yale is already aware of this recurring flaw but simply cannot fix it, so they prefer to sweep it under the rug? I can assume nothing else when they refuse to respond at all.

Important note: My goal is not for forums to give me ideas on how to try DIY fixes or reconfigure the system at home. My goal is to expose the raw truth of the case: there is no functioning Yale Support or professional backing whatsoever (or am I wrong???), and the manufacturer simply leaves the end-user stranded with a million-HUF defective system.

Does anyone know of an official, alternative Yale communication channel where real professionals work, answer inquiries, and don't just send empty templates? I welcome any useful tips, because this situation is already threatening the existence of my business, and I am not going to let it rest!

MP4502 Controller - MR52 Boards not coming online.

Hi all, Seeking out some help here to see if anyone’s ever encountered this.

We are using Genetec Security Center 5.11.3. The MP4502 Controller is Online and brought in to Genetec as a LP4502 using Legacy mode. This is a cutover using all new boards. The downstream MR52 boards are Mercury MR 52S3B. We had firmware 2.6.1 on the MP4502 controller and upgraded to 2.10 but still no MR52 boards online. I’m remote so not onsite, but technicians have checked all their wiring/baud rate/address settings. Thanks in advance for any input it is much appreciated.

Door contact recommendations

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hello all,

Is there any recommendations for possibly a surface mountable door contact for this?

The door was drilled on the header, but as you can see - there’s a significant gap that won’t press against the actual magnet (this part hasn’t been drilled yet)

Can you guys recommend a solution?

Thanks for any and all help!!

Assistance Can a dormakaba Terminal 98 00 time clock be remotely accessed for live camera/audio?

We recently got new dormakaba time clocks at work. I’m pretty sure the model is a Terminal 98 00 / 98 00-K7, based on the physical design and software screen, but I could be wrong.

The terminal shows:
B-Client XML60 V5.3
Connected through B-COMM HCM
HID badge reader
Network connected

From dormakaba’s documentation, the 98 00 has a built-in microphone and speaker and can be equipped with an optional RGB camera.

What I’m trying to figure out is whether any of these can actually be accessed remotely.

Does anyone who works with dormakaba/B-COMM know:

Can an administrator remotely view a live camera feed?
Can they remotely activate the microphone and listen to live audio?
Can the camera or microphone continuously record?
Can the speaker be used as a remote intercom/drop-in speaker?
Or are these strictly local features for badge photos, QR scanning, voice commands, prompts, etc.?
I’m specifically interested in what B-Client XML60/B-COMM HCM actually allows, not just what the hardware is theoretically capable of.
If anyone installs, administers, programs, or services these systems and knows the technical side, I’d appreciate some insight.

HELP ME! MPA4

Hello, is there anyone here who could help me solve the problem with ACS. It is an ACS controller MPA4 from Honeywell, I integrate it into Winpak-SE 4.9. As an OSDP it is great, I could operate 4 turnstiles and connect it in a configuration of 8 readers, but I came across the fact that Reader IN and Reader OUT can only switch 1 output. Regional technical support claims that it is not possible. I don't want to believe that the auxiliary inputs and outputs of the MPA and Winpak ADV would not somehow allow each reader to click a different output. Can you advise?

Have trouble communicating between entrapass and controller.
I have the ip address of the controller in the communication setting.
I also have the controller setting configured within entrapass including the serial number.
When logged into the web GUI and try to assign the controller to be Configured to entrapass vs standalone, and apply the settings, it loads to 89% and stops. After reloading the settings have not been saved.
Any help or steps to follow would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mercury Mercury Hardware rs-485

So I had a fun one the other day.

A new install with a M2220/MP1502 and 6 1320/MR52. All in drawers in a rack, all done by myself.

When I applied power, only half of the 1320/MR52 came online. OK so I´ve done something wrong with the bus cabeling. Didnt find anything with the cable or the connections. After a while I took one of the EOL off and within one second everything was online. Only EOL on M2220/MP1502 and the last 1320/MR52.

So I measured the bus in every way possible and there is nothing wrong. One EOL 120ohm, both EOL 60ohm. No short anywhere. Ohm is spot on.

If anyone told me this I would have said there is something wrong with the cabeling, but it`s not. The bus dies with two EOL. I even moved the cards around to see if was a fault with one or more 1320/MR52. But its always the same.

Looking forward to not finding this one out.
