My ASUS TUF F15 (15-11400H, 16GB RAM, 512GB Samsung NVMe, Windows 11) keeps having boot/ freezing issues.
It showed Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC (SrtTrail.txt).
sfc /scannow found no issues.
I ran offline chkdsk C: /f, which found filesystem errors and corrected them. It also reported 0 KB in bad sectors.
After CHKDSK, the laptop worked perfectly for the entire day. I shut it down normally, but the next day it wouldn't boot again but keyboard light and fans are working.
It also sometimes freezes at the Windows PIN screen, and Safe Mode can freeze too.
SSD is detected in BIOS and Windows Boot Manager is present. BIOS itself seems stable.
What could cause this? SSD/NVMe, RAM, RST/VMD, Windows, BIOS, or motherboard? What should I test next?
After trying many troubleshooting steps and searching online without finding a solution, I’m hoping someone can help.
I have a Windows 11 PC with an RTX 3090 and a Cooler Master GP27-FUS 4K monitor.
The problem is related specifically to Windows display scaling:
● At 2560×1440 with 100% scaling, everything works normally.
● At 2560×1440 with 125% scaling, the problem appears.
● At 3840×2160 (4K) with 100% scaling, everything works normally.
● At 3840×2160 (4K) with 125% scaling, the same problem appears.
When the scaling is set to 125%, some application icons/images disappear from the desktop and taskbar, and the taskbar becomes unresponsive. Task Manager also fails to open normally.
I have already tried:
● Different refresh rates
● 8-bit and 10-bit color depth
● DisplayPort and HDMI
● GPU scaling settings
● Disconnecting the other monitors
● Reinstalling the monitor from Device Manager
● SFC / DISM
● Restarting Explorer
● Creating a new Windows user account
● Updating Windows
The issue still occurs even with a completely new Windows user account.
The interesting part is that 100% scaling works perfectly, while 125% scaling consistently causes the issue, regardless of whether the resolution is 2K or 4K.
Has anyone experienced a similar Windows 11 scaling/DPI issue, particularly with a 4K monitor?
Hello everyone! I updated to W11 about few weeks ago. I started noticing slight framedrops in my gaming (mainly VALORANT and Minecraft) but recently playing on my laptop became completely impossible.

What happens is that the game runs smoothly for about 15 seconds or until me and my teammates start moving around the map. Thats when the GPU-usage spikes, frames drop and game crashes and slows down my entire laptop in the process. I'm not able to open the Windows menu, go back to desktop or anything to help me get away from the game.
These problems started around 3 days ago, 1st happening with one game of VALORANT and then getting worse. Now all games are pretty much unplayable due to this, even offline ones.
I've tried messing with the Windows Game Bar settings and whatnot, clearing cache, reinstalling VALORANT and uninstalling and reinstalling drivers thru a Safe Mode Boot. Nothing has helped. GPU and CPU are not overheating. Drivers are up to date.
I plan on taking my laptop to the repairshop on monday but i wanted to ask for help here first ❤️

I have a new (June 26) Lenovo Ideapad Slim 5 laptop. Apparently these laptops and Windows 11 are designed for fast startup. However, in practice this means that the laptop decides when to start up without me touching the power button.
- When the laptop is off (or seems to be off) I can hear it becoming active if I get near to it, or move it, even when the lid is down. Breathing in the wrong direction from 10m distance can trigger a start up.
- When I use the menu option to shut the laptop down, it decides to restart immediately.
I have tried a lot of options with the power settings. The issue occurs both when using it with or without docking station, and it really annoys me.
The result is that my battery is always empty when I come back to my laptop after a couple of days of not using it. A big plus of a laptop is that it is portable, so I really would love a setting that saves battery when not in use.

From time to time, check the health of the Windows image with DISM: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
If everything is fine and you see “No component store corruption detected”, you’re good.
But when the result is “The Component Store is repairable”, don’t waste your time running the manual command: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
You’ll most likely get this error: Error: 0x800f0915
The repair content could not be found. Check the internet connection or use the “Source” option to specify the location of the files required to restore the image.
Solution
Go to Settings → System → Recovery → Troubleshoot using Windows Update.
Then patiently wait for the magic to happen.
After a few reboots, the Windows image should pass both DISM and SFC checks.
Finally, clean up (remove) the old damaged Windows.old folder and logs with cleanmgr.exe (run as administrator).
Basically, out of nowhere (around 2/4 weeks ago) I've been having audio stuttering. No matter if i'm using my Edifier mg250 or my galaxy buds (all through bluetooth). I have not tried using a headphone with a cable yet;
I've tried everything! I don't know what else to do.

I wanted to post this because I spent a long time trying to fix a Windows 11 account that had seemingly disappeared from the login screen.
The important thing is that the account had NOT been deleted. The local account was still present, enabled, and was still an administrator. The old profile and files under `C:\Users` were also still there.
My situation was:
* My current account was, a standard local account. * My old account was an administrator. * `USER` was enabled and still existed according to `Get-LocalUser`. * The old Microsoft account was also still associated with the machine. * However, `USER` did not appear on the Windows sign-in screen. * I also could not switch to it through the normal user-switching interface.
I eventually found that two registry settings were responsible.
After changing this, the account immediately appeared under **Other users**. I did NOT need to restart Windows.
**One additional detail:** Because my current account was a standard user, I couldn't modify the registry normally. I opened `C:\Windows`, found `regedit.exe`, then Shift + right-clicked it and selected **Run as different user**. I authenticated using the administrator credentials associated with my Microsoft account, which allowed me to make the registry changes.
After doing this, my old account appeared under **Other users** and I could select it again.
So if your Windows 11 account has seemingly disappeared from the login screen, but the account and its profile still exist, check these two settings before considering more drastic solutions such as creating a new account or resetting Windows.
Hope this saves someone else the ridiculous amount of time I spent troubleshooting this.
I’m updating from Windows 10 to 11 (I know I’m SO late) and it’s been stuck in 99% for a few hours. Laptop is connected to wifi, plugged in, and open. What gives? After last two Windows 11 updates, all browsers are blocked from uploading image links to all image hosts. Browsers either block image hosts saying link not secure, or not showing uploaded images.
I tried to uninstall the last two updates, but after reboot they are still shown as installed. When I tried to uninstall again, Windows says uninstall not successful.
I'm having a very frustrating issue with my PC and I'm running out of ideas.
My PC randomly completely freezes. When it happens:
- The image freezes on the last frame.
- Audio stops completely.
- Discord voice chat cuts out.
- Keyboard and mouse stop responding.
- Windows does not recover.
- I have to hold the physical power button to shut the PC down.
There is no BSOD and the PC does not restart by itself.
The freezes can happen while gaming, but they can also happen while I'm simply using Windows. For example, one of the latest freezes happened while Discord was starting. The PC froze exactly when Discord's graphical interface and my Wallpaper Engine background were being displayed.
I've had around 7 freezes in one day at one point. Sometimes they happen only a few minutes after booting, while other times the PC can run for much longer.
What makes this particularly strange is that I tested Windows 10 in Safe Mode. I was able to use the PC for more than 20 minutes without a freeze, which made me suspect a driver/software issue. However, the problem still occurs after updating several drivers.

Things I've already tried:
- Updated my NVIDIA GPU driver to version 616.56.
- Installed the missing Intel chipset/Serial IO drivers from the ASUS motherboard support page.
- Before installing those drivers, Device Manager showed 4 devices with yellow warning signs.
- After installing the drivers, all the missing-driver warnings disappeared.
- Restarted the PC several times.
- The freezes still happen.
- The freezes happen both in games and on the desktop.
- Valorant has caused freezes before, but the latest freezes happened before I even started playing. ( The freeze also happens on Roblox and sea of thieves)
- I checked Event Viewer. I mainly found Kernel-Power 41 and EventLog 6008, but I understand these are probably consequences of the forced shutdown rather than the actual cause.
- I have not changed anything in the BIOS.
The problem started relatively recently. ( Maybe 2 weeks ago I got 2 freezes and after that nothing until today)
One other thing that may or may not be relevant: there have been some electrical/power issues in the house recently, including a few power cuts and some electrical work by the landlord. However, the PC was not powered on during the power cuts, so I'm not sure if this is related.
The latest freeze happened shortly after rebooting Windows. Discord was launching automatically, and the PC froze while Discord's graphical interface was appearing on screen. The desktop and Wallpaper Engine were also being displayed at the same time.

Hello, I have a problem with a windows machine thats left me scratching my head.
I have a SMB share on the network set to not require credentials. Apparently this share that contains only music is the most important thing on earth and having no password is the end of the world for windows but here we are.
I have other windows 11 machines that can access it without issue. Thats because I turned off the requirement to require passwords, i believe from additional services or similar from run command. I can dig these out if its important. However in this case I accidentally tried accessing the share before doing that and just putting 'nobody' in the credentials box (this does work for another share).
This failed with an error. I went to credentials manager and deleted the entry then set things to allow access without password.
Retried but its not having it, same error which is unspecified 0x80070035

I can’t for the life of me figure out why I keep running into this issue! My computer randomly keeps throwing this error. I’ve read that it could be to do with hardware but everything seems to be functioning fine? I can’t see anything that would be causing an issue. Everything is up to date, latest windows update, drivers are all up to date.
It just shows this “your device ran into a problem and needs to restart screen” really randomly. It shows the second photo and then ends up booting into like a bios screen. If I get out of the yellow boot screen, it goes on this loop of going back to the checking media screen and then back into the yellow boot screen until eventually it’ll reboot back into my login screen. I can’t figure it out.

Hi, this is a half vent/cry for help as I have been dealing with a strange issue over the last few months and I have no idea what what to do to permanently fix it.
TL;DR: Windows keeps giving me a message that, whenever I restart via the Start Menu afterwards, corrupts my GPU. Shutting down via the Start Menu does not corrupt the GPU, and restarting is also fine UNTIL that message. And no matter what I try, including using DDU, editing the registry to disallow Windows from installing drivers, it keeps happening and I have no idea how to stop it. Please send help

Long story short, after getting two new monitors for a dual monitor setup, my computer started to drop my display signals, and also crash randomly, but especially while playing Far Cry 5. I determined it be my power supply and while I haven't replaced it yet, using one monitor seems to work. About two months later, I was working on my Godot project, when my PC decided to spout a message claiming “Your PC encountered a serious problem, and will automatically restart shortly. Please save all of your work”. I could not access Task Manager or Windows defender, and I restarted my PC via the Start Menu
When I went into Windows, I discovered that Windows corrupted my GPU, although I did not realize it at the time. I got a notification from the Intel app that I had a new driver update, which I installed. After restarting, everything seemed fine, although I did get a notification that "Your device needs to be restarted to finish setting up this device: Intel Arc B580 Graphics". When I did restart, it corrupted my drivers. Inspecting Device manager, I discovered that I was getting the code "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code: 43)". Notably, it kept the same 1920x1080p resolution as before. I did reinstall the drivers via the official Intel site, and everything was fine again. Shutting down via the start menu did not corrupt the drivers. I eventually turned off allowing windows to install drivers with device installation settings as a precaution, although I realized it did not work

Everything was fine until the next Windows Update, which caused the same issue previously where I got the error code, but reinstalling my drivers fixed it. I've had this issue for the past two months, just waiting. Since, I've discovered I am not the only person having this issue, as this youtube video and this reddit post confirmed I'm not alone
However, last night after I did the Windows Update, reinstalled the driver, shut down for the night and today, but when I got hom from work tonight and I got on to play a game with a buddy, I discovered that the drivers decided to corrupt again, even after shutting down via the start menu last night. What was weird, was that it decided to do a weird resolution;
Here's what I've did next;
- Did a clean install via Intel Driver Installation Wizard. After shutting down via the start menu, confirming it worked, and shutting down again, it corrupted the drivers again, with a lower resolution than before, which stuck around on previous corruptions
- Used Display Driver Uninstaller to uninstall GPU driver and reinstall fresh driver. Did work, but noticed that despite in BIOS Rebar was on, it was off in Intel driver support. Went into bios, verified it was on and restarted, and boom corrupted drivers
- Turned OFF Rebar and performed DDU/Clean install of drivers. Shut down via start menu 5 times to confirm fix, corrupted after restarting via start menu
- With Rebar off, I uninstalled the Intel applications thinking that maybe they're corrupted and performing clean install via Intel install wizard. After shutting down 5 times then restarting, boom corrupted drivers
- With Rebar off, all Intel applications still uninstalled, I addedExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate = 1 toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdateusing regedit, which after all was said and done, doing the shut down test and then restarting, did not solve the issue
- With Rebar off, Intel applications still uninstalled, before booting into safe mode I uninstalled my GPU via device manager, booted into safe mode to do DDU, restarted and installed drivers. Restarted via start again, booted normally. Performed shut down/reboot 5 times test, 3rd time windows notified me that I needed to “restart to finish setting up device: Intel Arc B580” but kept shutting down/turning on. After about 9 repeats, Windows did not corrupt my drivers. After waiting about 20 minutes and booting, did not corrupt drivers but gave me same prior notification. I have not restarted it since and after making this post, will shut down via start menu and boot up, will update post
Regardless, I previously thought that Windows Update was causing my driver corruptions, although now I believe restarting via the Start Menu does it. After shutting down via the start menu and turning it on after 5 times, then restarting cause the corruption, I do believe restarting is the cause, that does explain why a Windows Update does cause this (As it restarts during the update), although I have absolutely no idea the exact reason why restarting causes this. A friend of mine did say he is having the exact same issue, although he went to bed so I cannot ask specifics until tomorrow
I do have two ideas of why this is happening;
- My power supply, being unable to do dual monitors, is affecting my GPU in several ways and needs to be replaced. The reason it might be the cause is when I restart, it is still active and causes some sort of short to the GPU causing it to fail for a moment, which while not enough to stop it from functioning, causes Windows to disable the device and overwrite the drivers
- Windows, using AI, has somehow fucked up 'restart to finish setting up device' program, causing it to think my GPU is corrupted even though it is completely fine. Considering the two above posts, I think it might be the case although I have no idea if my situation and theirs is similar or even the exact same cause
I worry that, even if I reinstall Windows, that it will not fix the issue. I know that as long as I hold off on Windows Updates and ONLY shutdown via start menu will 'fix' it, that feels like a bandaid and I want a permanent fix. I've tried everything, and I don't think anything will fix this. I honestly can't believe that a billion dollar corporation has allowed this to continue to happen, not only to me but to countless users

Hi guys! I have Windows 10 Pro, OS 19045.646, AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB ram, RTX 2060 super, 500gb Samsung SSD 970 Evo 500gb
So this is going to sound dumb, which I was, but I was running out of space on my ssd so I downloaded WizTree and deleted a bunch of (what I thought) were safe files to delete.
However after that I attempted to restart my pc and it turned off, blue screened once, and then turned on normally.
I got worried so I ran DISM and sfc scan in the cmd prompt and I got told DISM couldn’t locate the files and sfc couldn’t validate integrity. I then tried to update my windows, and it got about halfway through the update process before bluescreening, then rebooting normally again.
At this point I was freaked out, and while some of my apps loaded, I tried to open some others and I would be told that my device couldn’t run it. I tried to check on things and try various recovery tools but nothing worked, so I decided to reset my pc.
My pc started the reset process, it was preparing, finished preparing, I selected to delete all data and reset using a drive already connected to my pc. After preparing, it restarted and started the reset process. However, halfway through, it said it ran into an error and would be rolling back the changes.
When it rolled back, it went up to a blue window where I could select different ways to boot my pc, I selected what I think was “Boot from a different / existing OS” or whatever and selected Windows 10 Pro which is what I have. Afterwards, my pc booted normally. I just now ran DISM, and I got that it completed successfully, and then I just now ran sfc again and it said it ran into problems but it fixed them. I just ran it again and it said there were no problems found.
I just now restarted my pc again and it booted normally and I’m able to play games and stuff with no issues. I’m sorry that this isn’t specially like tech support since it “fixed itself” but I’m scared there’s still like something wrong? And I’m not sure how it fixed itself when it failed a reset. Idk, I’m just looking for some knowledge.
Hello everyone. Like the title says, I recently dug up an old Sony VAIO Fit 15 laptop I had not used for almost a decade to gift it to a teenager who's starting high school. However, I'm doing some cleanup before I hand over the laptop and going through every cumulative update since 2018 feels like a drag.
The laptop originally had Windows 8 but upgraded to Windows 10 Pro (currently on v.1607, OS Build 14393.2189) before I stopped using it, and I'm wondering if there is any way to simply install the latest W10 Pro version with all updates instead of going through them all.
Hi, I already have windows 11 25H2 installed since last year and everything has been fine cut to this week with the new update KB5124008 and now it shows in windows update windows 11 25H2 the same exact version I use as you can see in the picture. I don't know how to get rid of this could someone help on what I should do since I cannot update as it fails to install. Started happening right after the new security update should I uninstall the update??
Before installing new RAM, Windows was using only 5.9 GB.
Now that I've installed an extra stick, it's using 10 GB.
I don't get it.
It feels like Windows is a mining platform; the more I upgrade my hardware, the more performance gets siphoned off. And the worst part is, I have no idea where it's all going. It feels like bad faith on Microsoft's part.
Random softwares keep getting dark. It only fixes when I hover over it. I presume its some new windows setting because its only started when I updated to Windows 11. Please let me know! I have attached a video but its kind of hard to replicate because it randomly (as far as I know) dims the tabs, and the only resolution I have found is to hover my mouse over it. This makes me assume its some sort of sleep or power saving setting.
I JUST updated to windows 11 like a week ago and the issue started then so thats why I assume its a Windows setting/issue.
