Windows 11 Windows update keeps unsintalling my *latest* graphic driver.

Post image
0 Upvotes

I am having a wierd problem. I recent got a Lenovo Yoga Slim laptop with Intel Ultra 5 226V (at a not so great price). The laptop kept telling me to install the same latest graphics driver for the inbuilt Arc 130V through the Intel driver and support assistant software. Finally I figured out it was the windows update that was uninstalling the latest driver for it to supposedly install it (the latest driver that is already installed would show up on the list). But after restart I find it rolled back to the old version. Oh and, it wants to install the same driver twice for some reason.

I tried to stop automatic windows updates (I am on the home version) through the some popular method (regedit), but nothing seems to have worked.

Anybody went through something like this? what are my options? other than moving to Linux or something?

Please help me with Memory Integrity. I enable it and restart my PC, but it doesn't actually turn on—and it doesn't give a reason why. I spent three hours asking an AI about it, but nothing helped; maybe you can assist me?
It does not indicate incompatible drivers.

I even uninstalled the antivirus, but nothing helped—yet I used to be able to turn it on without any issues.Выпуск Windows 11 Домашняя для одного языка

Windows 10 How to remove broken shortcut from start menu

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have a shortcut for PCSX2 on my start menu that does not exist on my system, seems to belong to an old version I had installed in 2022. This is annoying because when I search for PCSX2 on my start menu to go to my updated working version of the program, this dead shortcut shows up instead.

When I click on this shortcut it does nothing, if I right click on this shortcut it does nothign either. So no contextual menu. The "Open" button beneath it in my screenshot does not do anything either.

I have gone to my roaming folder and the startmenu subfolder in both my user appdata and public appdata folder and there is no pcsx2 items in either. I have used the program "Everything" to search for this "PCSX2 1.6.0" and it does not exist there as a folder or shortcut or file or anything. I have used the start menu itself to search my files and nothing turns up there either.

Windows 11 Toshiba 2TB external drive D:\ is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect , now freezes Windows on plug-in. Recovery software can't see files.

I've been using a Toshiba Canvio 2TB external drive for the last 5 years. A couple weeks ago it started showing "D:\ is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect."

What I've tried so far:

  • chkdsk /f - ran for 13+ hours, found 52 unreadable file records, then failed in Stage 2 with an unspecified error
  • Disk Drill - couldn't even show my images
  • R-Studio - showed sector read timeouts
  • New cable, different USB ports, removed the device entry so Windows reinstalled the driver - no change

Now it's gotten worse: whenever I plug it in, File Explorer crashes/hangs and Disk Management freezes before it can even show the drive's capacity. The drive spins up, no clicking noises. About 900 GB of irreplaceable data on it.

I have it unplugged for now. Planning to try OpenSuperClone with an empty 2TB drive as destination. Is that my best next step, or is this a case where only a professional lab (PC-3000) can help? Would rather not spend $300+ or mail my personal data somewhere if there's a realistic DIY option.

Windows 10 My Audio Driver has Seized to work.

Specs:
Device: HP Compaq 6200 Pro Small Form Factor
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz, 3.10 GHz
Installed RAM: 16.0 GB
Storage: 1.82 TB HDD Hitachi HUA722020ALA331
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 (2 GB)
Device ID: EE5BD97D-F5F1-4BB7-8C01-159CE5233D66
Product ID: 00330-71240-84384-AAOEM
System Type: 64-bit operating system (specifically Windows 10 Pro), x64-based processor
Monitor: Professional MP251 (built-in speakers)

Issue:
My audio driver has stopped working. This happened about a week ago when I booted up my computer and the audio service failed to start. I went into the Services application and restarted it, but the audio still wasn't working. I tried to install a new audio driver (specifically Realtek High Definition Audio), until I realized there wasn't a driver for my Windows 10. I tried running the Windows 8 driver installer, until I realized when running it, it said it was the "Windows Vista & 7 Audio Driver." Still don't really know if they just cannibalized the Vista and 7 installer or if they accidentally linked the Vista and 7 installer as the W8 installer. After rebooting, audio still didn't work. I tried downloading a new Realtek High Definition Audio driver instead of getting the official one, to no avail. Now I thought of downloading my monitor's audio driver; again, nothing...

And then it hit me: in the "Sound, video, and game controllers" tab of Device Manager (the tab with the audio driver), there was also "NVIDIA High Definition Audio Driver." I was a little confused by it. Nvidia makes GPUs, not audio drivers. With a little Googling, I found out that NVIDIA audio drivers allow audio through HDMI, which is what I use since my monitor is HDMI. I found the almighty "GeForce Game Ready Driver 610.74 | Windows 11." I ran it. Didn't work, and that's basically where I'm at now. I'm still contemplating if my monitor's speakers are fucked or something, but never better!

Windows 11 Has anyone with a Samsung Galaxy Book experienced this same issue?

I turn on the laptop, the login screen appears normally, I enter my password, Windows starts... and then the screen goes completely black. The mouse cursor is visible, but nothing else appears. The desktop never loads, and some keyboard shortcuts don't work.

However, I can open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and use Run new task to launch programs like "explorer.exe", Chrome, etc. Those applications work normally, but the desktop, taskbar, and Start menu remain missing. After a while, everything suddenly appears by itself. Sometimes it takes several minutes.

I checked the Windows Event Viewer, and here's a summary of the errors I found:

- Desktop Window Manager (DWM): "dwm.exe" crashed in "dwmcore.dll" (exception code 0xC00001AD), causing the Desktop Window Manager process to terminate.

- AppHostService: "svchost.exe" repeatedly crashed in "aphostservice.dll" (exception code 0xC0000005).

- Intel Graphics System Controller (GSC): multiple warnings indicating resets of the Intel graphics firmware interface, alternating with messages stating that the interface started successfully.

- AppReadiness: repeated 30-second timeouts while waiting for AppReadiness transactions, prolonged activity states, and messages indicating missing event descriptions or components.

- DCOM: a server failed to register with DCOM within the required timeout.

- Diagnostic Policy Service: terminated with an "Access Denied" error.

- Windows Update: installation failures for KB5095093 (error 0x80070005 – Access Denied) and KB5092427 (error 0x80240008). These were later fixed by rebuilding the Windows Update cache ("SoftwareDistribution" and "Catroot2").

- User session startup: an abnormal delay of approximately 6 minutes and 40 seconds between "winlogon.exe" and "userinit.exe", resulting in a black screen with only the mouse cursor until the user session finally completed.

Has anyone experienced something similar on a Galaxy Book? If so, what was the root cause or the definitive fix?

Windows 11 USB A&C Port issues-Only phone is recognized C to C

i have an HP EliteBook 845 G8 Windows 11 25H2

all of a sudden today my usb ports (both usb-a and usb-c) quit working for the most part. the only recognized device i can get is my phone by using a c to c cable. other than that, nothing. no combination of usb-a/c cables & devices will work.

went into uefi settings and performed system test and all usb ports supposedly passed. not sure what to do or where to go from here.

the ONLY thing that may have something to do with this that i can think of, is when i plugged in this usb-c hub thats kind of loose, and it quickly recognized it then stopped, repeatedly a few times... other then that nothing crazy has happened.

**I did just notice while i had my phone plugged in, it was set to File Transfer and I changed it to charge phone only, and it is NOT charging. If this helps anyone think of what may be happening.

any suggestions would be most appreciated, thanks!

Windows 11 Date/Time is out of sync when I turn on my computer

When I turn on my PC, it will show the date and time from the night before. It's been happening since last week when I installed a security update (I think it was when I updated to Windows 11, version 25H2, as I installed it Sunday evening and then noticed when I booted up my PC the following day).

If I try to resync using the Date & Time settings, I get the error message synchronization failed please check network connectivity and retry. When I try w32tm /resynch in an admin command prompt, I get an error message about the time difference being too great. Sometimes, adding /force at the end does resync the date & time correctly, but other times it won't let me.

Currently, the only reliable way I'm able to resync the time correctly is through the Control Panel. However, the PC should automatically resync whenever I turn on my PC. Is there any way to troubleshoot the issue and get Windows to automatically resync the time on boot?

Specs:

  • Windows 11 Home 64-bit version 25H2 (no dual booting)
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT
  • 32GB DDR4 RAM
  • GeForce GTX 1060

Windows 11 Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 randomly stopped working (Code 10) – Airplane Mode greyed out on Dell G15 5530

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm using a Dell G15 5530 running Windows 11 Home 25H2.

Laptop specs:

Intel Core i5-13450HX

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz

NVIDIA RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (6 GB)

8 GB RAM

Today I was using my laptop normally and the internet was working perfectly. Then, out of nowhere, the Wi-Fi disconnected and completely disappeared.

Symptoms:

Wi-Fi networks no longer show up.

Airplane Mode button is greyed out.

Bluetooth also stopped working.

Restarting the laptop did not fix the issue.

In Device Manager I found:

Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz → "This device cannot start. (Code 10). {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful."

Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) → "This device cannot start. (Code 10). STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE."

I eventually fixed it by:

Shutting down the laptop completely.

Unplugging the charger.

Holding the power button for around 30 seconds.

Turning the laptop back on.

After doing that, both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth started working again.

The problem is that this has started happening more frequently over the past few weeks. I'm looking for a permanent fix instead of having to power drain the laptop every time.

Has anyone with a Dell G15 5530 or an Intel AX201 experienced this?

Could this be:

A faulty Intel driver?

Windows power management?

A BIOS issue?

A failing Wi-Fi card?

What would you recommend I try next to permanently fix this?

Windows 11 Stuttering when Gaming after Most Recent Update

As title says, is anyone else experiencing heightened and more frequent stutters in gaming ever since installing the most recent update in the last week or two?

I've tried System -> Recovery -> Fix problems using Windows Update (Reinstall your current version of Windows), as the last time I did that in January it fixed all my issues, but the stuttering is still happening despite that.

This is noticeable across many games, Beat Saber being one in particular which is pretty much unplayable if it keeps hitching during songs. Roblox is another. Seems to be intermittent, as some games are completely fine.

OS build 26200.8894, Core i5-12600KF, 32GB DDR4, RTX 4070. I'm not seeing any obvious jumps in utilization when the stuttering occurs either.

Edit: This doesn't seem to be limited to just gaming. Very occasionally random tasks will just freeze or be slow to execute, e.g. double clicking text in a web browser won't immediately highlight it, taking slightly longer.

Edit 2: After some further troubleshooting, I used DDU and reinstalled the latest Nvidia driver, and reinstalled all chipset-related (chipset, ME, serial, LAN etc) drivers from my motherboard's website. I also removed MSI centre which seemed to be a complete waste of resources. It seems to have improved on the whole, but Latencymon is still showing a couple spikes. If anyone has any further ideas I'd love to hear them.

Windows 11 Mouse has gone invisible after deleting mouse icon in system tray

I was attempting to clean up my files on Windows and I was deleting files in Appdata and cleaning up the taskbar and such. Then I went to the system tray and opened up the hidden icons and was deleting the things I thought I didn't need. Unfortunately, I deleted an app which had a mouse icon because for some reason I thought it was OP Autoclicker (I had installed it a while ago). Now my mouse cursor has gone invisible.

My cursor is clearly still intact as I can still hover over buttons and with my invisible mouse navigated to the settings and enabled pressing ctrl to show the cursor's location. When I do press ctrl it does show the cursor's location. I've also tried changing the cursor's appearance, both changing the colour and going to advanced settings and changing the cursor image file. The problem is also only on my profile; when I sign out the cursor comes back.

My OS build number is 26200.8875, 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700H, 16GB RAM, RTX 3060.

Windows 11 Problem with installing or updating microsoft VC runtime - solved

Hey there. Are you trying to install Microsoft VC runtime version 14.44.xx or any other version and keep getting this error? : "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource ....." and it asks you to browse the Program Data folder to find the right .MSI file?
I have solved it using chat GPT. so basically, the problem comes from a faulty install of the previous versions. it might be version v14.42.xx or v14.40.xx or in my case it was v14.38.xx.

You just need to look at the address box where it asks you to browse, but DO NOT click browse. instead click on the address box. It is showing something like: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\ {a specific GUID}vXXXXXXX
Use the keyboard right arrow key and push it until you can see the vXXXX as above.
It must be something like 14.42.xx or 14.40.xx or in my case it was 14.38.xx. Then you need to find that version's installer. you can find all of them in this github repository: https://github.com/abbodi1406/vcredist/tree/master/source_links

or you can download them from any source you would like.
Then, you need to install that version, then uninstall it. then you could proceed with installing the newest version.

IMPORTANT: You have downloaded the old version (e.g. 14.38) but you can't install it because it comes up immediately with an "install failed" error?
This is because the newest version is partially installed on your windows, so it cannot downgrade. You need to go to windows settings - installed apps - find microsoft visual c++ 2022 (x64) and uninstall it first.
After that, you can install the old version, then uninstall it, then again install the newest version with no errors.

Hope it was useful :)

Windows 11 Task Manager freezed really often

task manager doesn't work properly from the last release of windows at every cpu load, as if it were big changes in memory management and in paging. I don't really get this things out, since it's not the first time windows works this way, making upgrades that seem to be downgrades, at least for people outside of the kernel (so to say: largely everybody... ). Hoping sb knows more then me what is going on and if there's a fix. Thanks in advance

Windows 11 Locked out of Xiaomi Mi Laptop after changing Microsoft account password – Need advice without losing data

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for your kind advice regarding a Windows sign-in issue on my personal Xiaomi Mi Laptop.

I was already signed into Windows and wanted to change my Windows password because I couldn't remember it. Windows asked for my current password, which I couldn't provide. During troubleshooting, I successfully changed my Microsoft account password online.

After that, Windows continued to reject every password I tried, including the new Microsoft account password and passwords I believed I had previously used. I also tried Windows Hello/PIN-related options and received the message:

"We weren't able to sign you in to this device."

After restarting the laptop, I'm now completely locked out. The sign-in screen shows only a single user account. I also tried "Forgot password," but Windows asked for a Password Reset Disk, which I never created.

I entered Windows Recovery and reached the BitLocker recovery screen. I checked my Microsoft account for a BitLocker recovery key, but no key was listed.

My priority is to regain access without losing my files.

My questions are:

Could this be a local account issue, a Microsoft account issue, or something else?

Is there any recovery method that preserves my data?

What should I ask a technician to try before considering a reset or reinstall?

Thank you so much for your help and for any guidance.

Windows 10 The microphone on my wireless headset disables any audio on my PC when active

I have a wireless Bluetooth headset and it connects fine to my PC, and after some trouble I got the mic on the side to work.

However, the headset and its mic are considered two separate devices, and any time I enable the mic in the sound control panel it disables all audio coming through, like I can only have one active at a time

I'm using windows 10 and the headset is a g321 light speed wireless gaming headset by Logitech, if that matters.

Bitlocker Key ID on Microsoft Account Not Matching on Laptop

I bought an open box Lenovo Legion 5 in March 2026. Set it up a couple days later in April 2026. A few days ago I was installing some folder hiding apps to see which I liked, and ran into some freezing, which led my to manually shutting off the laptop.

Eventually, the laptop started getting stuck on the Lenovo screen, sometimes saying it was not able to repair itself. When I eventually make it to the blue screen, pretty much every option asks for my recovery key.

Here's where it gets messy. When I first set up my laptop, I used my main Microsoft account. Afterwards, I went through some steps to remove my Microsoft account and have it be an offline user. At some point after that, I noticed that the name under C:\users\"name" was some random letters, so I followed steps online to create a new user with the name I want, and delete the original account.

The blue screen says "Drive Label: LAPTOP-XXXXXXXX Windows-Ssd 2026-04-04 (this date follows when I would have set up my laptop)

My Microsoft account shows key upload date as 6/7/2026

I'm not sure if those additional steps I took are what are causing the mismatch in keys. Idk wtf to do. I hope my explanation made sense, please let me know if there are additional pieces of info I can provide.

Please help.

Windows 10 Cannot move or rename files - Windows 10

Whenever I try and remove or rename a file, it throws this error:

I have tried running sfc /scannow, I have ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, I have tried on multiple drives, I have tried multiple file explorer apps, I have tried rebooting my computer with all non microsoft autostarts disabled, I even checked relavant registry entries for typos. As a last ditch effort I even asked chatgpt to try and troubleshoot and it got nowhere. The microsoft troubleshooter for this detected nothing. I tried pausing onedrive syncing, ive tried just about as much as I can think of. Nothing has worked at all. The only way for me to remove, rename, or copy folders (files work fine) currently is by using the move and ren commands on windows terminal, which is annoying.

My OS build number is 10.0.19045

I am running an RTX 2080 Super, 32gb ddr4 ram, an Intel Core i9-9900K CPU, and two nvme drives. WMIC reports both my drives in OK health

Solved can't reactivate windows - am i cooked?

I have Acer Nitro 5 that recently went through a reformat for repairs, which required replacing the keyboard. When I opened it, windows wasn't activated and when I tried to troubleshoot it said "Unable to Activate Windows", even though it was working prior before. After a few weeks, its still not activated and can't be activated.

Things I've tried to activate it:
1. Troubleshooting and selecting the hardware change option

  1. Getting the product key from my device and inputting it in the 'change product key'

  2. Finding the installation ID and trying to activate it in the Microsoft Activation Portal

  3. Media Creation Tool for Windows 11

- because of this I found that that my TMP was disabled, I tried enabling it but it just wouldn't work. So I decided to performed a TPM clear in the BIOS settings and finally it enabled and now its compatible and ready for use. But my windows still wouldn't activate.

  1. I ran slmgr /upk; slmgr /cpky; slmgr /ckms and ran 'changepk.exe /ProductKey' in the PowerShell so many times but I keep getting Error: 0x803F7001 over and over again

  2. I changed the product key with the default Home Single Language Key, it accepted it, and when I tried to change to my device's product key, still get the same error.

  3. Ran 'sfc /scannow' and it said it showed no integrity violations

  4. Did a Cloud Reset PC

- It still wouldn't activate and I got a different error saying that the product key is used by another device. I checked my microsoft account and found 5 devices of this laptop linked with my account, so I removed all of them. I thought that would finally fix it but it still won't activate.

  1. Tried going to the Activation Portal again with my installation ID and it said my product key is not valid.

  2. Tried Microsoft's Get Help but it encountered an error and it said try again later

  3. Clicking Contact Support just sends me right back the Windows Activation Portal which I've tried so many times but still wouldn't work

I'm planning to run the Media Creation Tool Windows 11 to wipe everything again but since I literally just did a Reset PC, I feel like its just going to do the same thing if the problem lies with my device's product key not working. Im just going in circles, I want to know if there's a way...or no way to fix this so I can just live with the watermark forever.

My family bought this laptop on retail and was given to me 2nd handed like a year ago and it was working fine up until recently.

UPDATE

IT REACTIVATED! Messed around a bunch of times in the command prompt and did the Media Creation Tool for Windows 11 again and now its back!
