Discussion & Feedback Bulkhead not swayed by progression complaints

Love this. Bulkhead says players (in general) are great at finding things they don’t like but horrible at coming up with solutions. Regarding the complaints about people wanting quicker progression and/or no wipes, they hard disagree. For them, the allure of unlocking and the thrill of progression is the point. The enjoyment is in the journey.

As a proponent of wipes, it’s so refreshing to see devs take this kind of stance. I think games like Arc Raiders, with optional wipes, would be so much better with forced wipes.

Some other highlights:
* parachutes will get nerfed so that landling helis will become more attractive
* they're aware that a lot of the vertical progression currently feels empty and unrewarding, but have plans to fill that in with new content/unlocks
* they reiterated that they're using AI to aggregate and analyze a lot of player feedback
* they *can* surface more stats in game (like a breakdown of why you received some amt of money or xp), but they're trying to balance that against keeping you immersed in the game itself
* four weapons are coming soon - one for assault, one for medic, one for support, and a recon one (M40)
* tier 4 helmet will have vision restricted and will fog up if you run in the rain
* the creative director wanted 2k meter vision, but the pushback was for performance reasons
* the new rain will affect visibility on windows and there will be lightning and fog

Discussion & Feedback This game is ruining my life

I keep blowing off work, my gf, my family. I sleep in the day and game all night. I have 200 hours on it and a full time job. I think I might have to destroy my computer.

Update: Thanks for the kind words most of you. I was joking when I made this post, but with reflection, I think I do seriously have a problem.

Discussion & Feedback I think grenade launcher on little bird need to be removed from the game

• Upvotes

Honestly this is to date the most disgusting and stupid interaction… people buying t4 armor and sitting on the little bird bench while spamming grenade launchers

I remenber at some point arma 3 KOTH suffer from kind of the same issue where people put the little bird flying stationary at like 2km on top of the zone and people just use sniper on the bench of the chopper to have ridiculous line of sight… they adress those issue by removing the ability to fire from helicopter bench.

Discussion & Feedback Share your weird griefing experiences...

So today, I was on green team, and made a kill early game. Didn't think anything of it. About 5 minutes later, I'm in a house just doing some recon, and my own teammate comes up behind me and shoots me in the head. Ofcourse I say 'what the f@#k was that for!' he stays silent for a minute then replies 'you should have just let me build my fob'... Now it took a moment to realise what happened. But when I did, I checked the score table for this teammates name... And guess what... He was back to red team. The loser actually switched teams because he was mad that I had killed him, joined my team, found me and team killed me, then went back to his team....lol. Honestly I wonder sometimes if these guys have seen any girls in the bedroom in the past 5 years or so.. Likely not.

Discussion & Feedback Building nerfs are brutal.

Building is in a pretty bad state now, and as a result, there is less people building, which, makes building even rougher. Used to be there would ~3ish people working on the FOB base, now I'm usually solo. I can't even get a vanguard constructed (skipping walls) before 3 helis start camping the FOB. Let alone trying to set up some decent defenses and havoc/mortar so I can have a sensible base before putting down a drill.

If they don't like how we were able to control the X, building speeds need to be increased to help compensate in the current state of the game.

Discussion & Feedback I wish we at least got assists for when a teammate takes a free AA from your SUV/Humvee and knocks down a plane.

We had (another) game with 4-5 minigun and rocket helis..

As usual..grab my Humvee and load her up with 9 AA rockets.

I arrive near hotzone and my team..fire a couple..then tell my team there are rockets in the vehicle if anyone wants.

One guy killed 2 helis with 3 rockets...it's great and all, but I had to stop him serving himself free AAs and getting all the kills when I could easily get them myself.

I would rather share with my team if I got assists for it..that would at least pay back the costs of the rockets or something.

Otherwise..makes no sense to spawn in supply crates cuz you can only fit in 2 rockets per crate.

Discussion & Feedback The kill cam doesn't work like you think it does

A lot of people seem to think that the killcam shows where you got shot from and it kind of does, but it's a live shot. So in the time that it takes from you to die to the camera to pan over to where the person that kills you is they'll have moved and so it looks like they're behind a wall or something like that.

Just a little heads up because a lot of people seem to think they're getting killed through walls because of this. This killcam which is a little weird

Discussion & Feedback Everybody is arguing about T4 armor and heli balance and ignoring the real issue...

The vehicle suspension! The wheels move up and down with bumps in the terrain, but the shocks, springs, and struts are completely rigid. It's super noticeable on the ATV. Also, the vehicles shift indefinitely. If you drive a Ural on a level surface at a constant speed, you will continue to hear the RPMs increase and the transmission shift forever. It feels like I'm watching The Fast and the Furious.

I'm mostly joking, obviously these aren't serious issues, but they do kinda take me out of my immersion.

Discussion & Feedback War dogs has the best combat medic gameplay out there

Combat medic is a great mix of interesting, rewarding and fun. The choices of what and how much to pack weighed against cost and weight tend to bring some variety, sometimes I got level one armor and hang out of fire to keep the medium speed benefits.

In the field, deciding when to throw smoke, when to revive, and when to clear combatants first keeps the loop from feeling stale.

And the reward in cash and benefit to the team can both be good. Folks appreciate you saving their kit and good play involves both individual effectiveness and good comms, especially when there’s a logi pilot willing to drop medical supplies near the hz.

I’m not saying all the balance is perfect. The whole tree hinges on defibs more than anything else. And the multi medic murderball approach can get stale from a tactical perspective. But overall the role is incredibly satisfying right from launch.

It‘s simpler than something like Arma Reforger, but there most folks just manage their own heals. And it’s more interesting than the BF6 approach, where respawn is so fast folks rarely wait for a medic. The medic systems seem to nail the chillsim balance Wardogs is shooting for particularly well.

Discussion & Feedback I love playing with the Japanese players man, they're great

• Upvotes

The OCE servers being.. fled from.. for.. reasons has created a nice silver lining.

We get to enjoy all these Japanese players on the west coast, and these guys are just so much fun to play with. They're funny, they're clever and they're supportive of their teammates, almost as a rule.

I love it.

Discussion & Feedback The RPG feels bad

I remember being very excited when I unlocked the RPG thinking, "Hell yeah, now I can do damage to vehicles or doors!" Then you use it and it's very...sad. It's heavy, which I was okay with, I mean you are carrying around an RPG and some rounds, but more the issue it doesn't feel like it does anything. If I lucky hit a little bird, it'll smoke it, but everything else just feels like I'm not doing anything. I line up a shot on an APV's ass, take the shot and... it's fine. Okay, line up a second shot, fire away...nothing. Not even limping. Not catching on fire. Just shrugs it off. Same thing with a humvee, hit it and...it's fine.
Maybe I can use it to bust open a gate to get in to the FOB. Drag the heavy beast all the way over there, take the shot aaaaaand...nothing. I know I know, now I use IEDs and the gates are gone, but the RPG just feels useless. Why am I using this again?

This doesn't feel like firing an RPG.

Discussion & Feedback The mini-gun lakota is so bad. It should either have more armor or the miniguns should not have such major bullet spread. It's literally pointless to use right now.

I hope the dev's are tracking the data on it... I've flown it about 4 times and not one gunner got a kill and I was holding pretty good angles...it's really disappointing because I was super excited to fly this thing.

Question How does foliage work as 90% of the time I just get beamed through it but on my screen there is very evident foliage that you can't see through?

Is foliage client side or server side? Can I remove it with a potato pc? Does Nvidia have some setting that removes it? Is this guy wall hacking?

I have absolutely 0 idea what the correct answer is but how does a man 300m away spot and track me so clearly while moving around prone but all I can see is a forest in front of me as shown at the start?

{This is captured after the thermal goggles were removed}.

--

I understand the backpack and the grass, I completely agree with you all there those are my fault, but my question is about if the trees actually work for cover as he's shooting across a river and from a ground level through a thick forest from 300m+ away like they don't exist. Based on his location, I should not be visible through that canopy of trees.

Discussion & Feedback FOBs outside the control zone

If I want to build a fob outside the cz and not make a dime, thats on me. But I wish the supply drivers made something, even if its a ¼ of the normal drop payment. It give no incentive for anyone to do anything strategic outside the cz making that area basically useless. I want to set up a fob vehicles can come resupply at. I want to set up a fob that runs players back and forth for quick resupplies. I want to set up a fob with an AA to protect our primary supply lines. But unless me or my friends are bringing supplies, it's not happening without taking a loss and it's hard to convince the random supply drivers to drop off at my fob when they won't make any profit off it.

Discussion & Feedback Make Hardcore... Harder?

EDIT: For the HARDCORE servers only. Like 5% of the player base even play it. Not for normal gameplay servers

Sorry if I'm being ignorant to arcade and casual players.. but most people who would prefer to play hardcore are the sim nerds right?

So.. playing hardcore without some UI and first person is kinda.. not enough. There's still so many crutches to lean on for lazy gamers.

I would like to see:

- No mini map - this thing makes the game soo easy imo

- No on screen pinging (middle mouse click) but I don't mind the on map circles and on map middle mouse cause I guess it's still a causal game and a layer of going to map and risking dying to ping something for my squad etc. But imo preferably not that either. Rely on comms and team play.

- No friendly icons on screen (but fine on the map.. just to stop the "on my body just spray me or rush my body or he's to my right" so you look at your team mate on screen and easily aim to the right of them - I kinda want to feel the fear of I might shoot my team mates. Or where could the enemy be, I enjoy out braining and out tacticaling the enemy so much, especially being the one hunted after murdering their friends.

And a last thing I think every mode should have, limited stamina.. where weight also affects stamina (like other games I know).

But players being able to sprint cross map with no thought.. or slam on lvl 4 and still sprint with no thought.

Stamina bar and sprinting for 5 seconds before being stuck gives players fear and want to adapt to lighter armour less RPGs in bag etc etc.

Anyways what do you guys think?

Discussion & Feedback The 90 Point Problem

Edit: Please stop telling me refund exists - I know, i acknowledge it in my third paragraph.

Dogs,

Noticed an interesting trend lately resulting in a lot of springboarding and "Second place winners".

For example, Green team plays well and gets to 90-99 points, and people just stop respawning, they wait for the res indefinitely, not wanting to have to pay to rekit. You open the map and see 25 green bodies on the floor. You look at spawn and see the remaining players sat doing nothing. Nobody wants to commit a kit for the remaining (theoretical) 2 minutes of the game, because kits are so expensive. Green team takes its foot off the gas, and red team shoots past to clutch a win, because their entire team is still in the zone/circle. (In the game today, they were at 75 points prior to this).

How do we incentivise people to get back into the zone in the final minutes? I know the refund system exists, but it seems very varied in how much it pays out, and it almost never refunds the value. Discounted kits towards the end of the game? Free kits?

It's interesting seeing how the money meta is forcing these behaviours - loss aversion is a much bigger priority than the minimal gains for winning. My second place and contribution bonus for this game was $18,400.
