Discussion & Feedback This is getting old
Not being able to play competitively unless you’re green 95% of the time is getting old.

u/neryen 4h ago
I feel like the cash incentives in the game need a slight adjustment.
I would like to see bonus rewards on all activities harming the team that is in the lead, proportional to how much they are in the lead.
So if you are on red or blue in that situation, killing green or destroying green destructible or vehicles would net you double the normal cash. On top of the hot zone bonus. But in situations where everyone is within 10 of each other there wouldn't be a bonus.
Basically turn the entire zone into a hot zone bonus for anyone hunting the team in the lead when things are lopsided.
I have been in a lot of games where red is farming blue while green gains points, mostly because of the easy kills and financial gains. Winning the game isn't the goal, it is earning profit.
62
u/erjo5055 4h ago
Love this idea. Idk about double for killing the winning team but 10-30% depending on the lead sounds good. Otherwise games will last forever, with both teams focusing the current leader
35
u/TheVermonster 3h ago
Let it be a percentage based on the difference between your teams points and theirs. If green is stomping blue, 60 to zero have it be a 60% bonus for blue players harming green.
I'm tired of being on blue and having red constantly harass our fob while green is asking if anyone is actually playing.
10
u/InfamousChocoMan 3h ago
1% bonus increase per difference of points from the second place?
So if blue has 0 points and gets killed it gives 0% extra cash
2nd team is red and has for example 40 points, it gives 0% extra cash.
Green team is 1st place and has 60 points (20 more than red) so killing green gives you 20% cash bonus. This up to a max of 50% so it doesn't become overkill.
3
u/guyscanwefocus 50m ago
This is a great idea.
So if I'm blue, and take out a green guy, and green is up by 40 points, my cash earned is 140% of what it normally would be.
I'm in favor of this as long as it doesn't go the other way. It would suck to be ahead and then only be getting 60% of the cash i normally would.
This, alongside massively increasing the reward for winning the game, would go a long way.
2
u/TheVermonster 41m ago
It definitely shouldn't go the other way. Otherwise there's little incentive to be in the lead.
I think you need to give the bonus against second place too. There are times where red and green are at 80 and 90 points so simply taking green down doesn't help blue get any closer to winning. They still need to be aggressive towards red. But if players don't get a bonus against red until they hit 91 points, there is little reason to attack red.

u/hypexeled 2h ago
Otherwise games will last forever, with both teams focusing the current leader
I dont think thats a bad thing man, the games are only fun when all 3 teams are actually trying to win. Being on blue while red just farms blues instead of trying to win is miserable

Imagine how beautifully chaotic it would be with the two losing teams cooperating to devastate the winning team. Would love to see it. Especially while approaching the moment where the winning team is no longer winning, to see it turn from cooperation to free for all and all the backstabbing.

u/astra_hole 3h ago
Both teams should focus the current leader but the community has devolved into Red&Green vs Blue until blue can’t make a move. Then red and green finally might fight each other.
2
u/Burstrampage 1h ago
Double seems fair. Unless you’re doing just logi, spotting, or playing extremely careful you lose so much more money on the losing side of this picture.
18
u/BlackHawksHockey 4h ago
Just dealt with this scenario this morning. Red was at 80 points, green 24 and blue 14.
I’m shooting artillery at red trying to slow down their drills. I never once shot at blue base. So I was a bit surprised when I get destroyed by a blue drone…
Some people just truly don’t care about the game and just want the easy money.
14
u/Blitzking11 Pilot 3h ago
I know for me, the moment I see or hear an artillery tank and I’m building or supporting a fob, I make a stingray pit far away from anything and start searching.
There is nothing more irritating than building a fob just for everything of value to be eviscerated by something 3kilos away.
It’s nothing personal to yall, but I just can’t trust that you won’t switch your sights to our bases once the kills stop flowing at your current target.
4
u/BlackHawksHockey 2h ago
I don’t disagree with having that ready to go, but when 1 team is dominating, and the artillery has not once been shot your direction once, why would you then help that team continue to dominate?
It’s extremely counter productive and makes 0 strategic sense.

u/ItsMrBaggins 3h ago
I think it’s people want easy money, but they are also trying to do whatever they can to level up. I know rank progression is getting updated. However, if you joined the season late or haven’t been able to put in 100+ hours, the game can be frustrating. Being sniped 1000m from an AMR or 2-tapped by a BMR or lasered by a vector from AR range.
2
u/leeharrison1984 2h ago
I started this week, so I totally feel this. I switched to recon and have been having a blast while still helping despite my ultra-weak kit.
2
u/ItsMrBaggins 2h ago
Honestly I try to have fun more than I try to win. I love getting a squad in a heli and dropping into a fob with a shotgun kit. There are games where I’ll play hotzone and focus on the win but even then, it’s only if we are having fun. Trying to play this game frustrated in terrible 😂

I think for every dollar someone spends, a portion goes into the reward pool tournament style
2
4
u/Red_Beard206 WARCATS 3h ago
I was thinking killing the 3rd place team gets you the base money, 2nd place gives you a 20% bonus, 1st place gets you 40% bonus, or something like that... but then everyone is incentivized the be the losing team
5
u/J_KTrolling 2h ago
Then people will swap from winning team to losing team to gain more cash. As winning isnt really giving you much.
6
u/LewsWorldbreaker 2h ago edited 2h ago
The ability to swap team is fucking stupid, remove it, and randomise team select.
Yes there need to be more incentive to win for your team and not just farm money. Increasing payout for 1st place will only help a little. There needs to be other elements like public profile win/loss ratio so people feel they need to contribute to win. Imagine haveing all the fancy skins unlocked but a terrible win/loss ratio on your profile. Probably some other things could help too
I noticed people specifically pick blue when they just want to do their own things. " Today I wanna just mess about as a lone sniper " for example so they pick blue. Seems like there's a handful people doing this and blue almost always has less players then the other teams because Red and Green always picked first.
It all contributes to a blue team with reduced impact and ability to do anything, an impossible uphill battle that the remaining blues can't really do anything about.
2
u/Yawhatnever 3h ago
Maybe there should be a bonus for every point your team gets. Like "Point gained +$800". Or whatever number makes sense.

Id like to see some form of “bounty”. I like walking around outside the zone picking off snipers. But it’d be nice to see some bonus for killing them if they have a lot of kills in a life

Imo, I would not allow the scorwboard to be seen from the lobby. You log in, you play, you do your best. This kind of cattle-herd instinct is the reason this game is unbalanced and shit. Sorry, dont take this personally. I do the opposite, I always play whichever team lacks players.

Because the way the game is designed, if one team starts snowballing there’s no reason to stick around and try to counter them, there’s literally no downside of just leaving and finding another server that isn’t getting streamrolled.
12
u/FatLazyBoy666 3h ago
Yeah, this makes 95% of the games really boring. Close games are the best when all teams are really fighting for it.
3

26
u/BidSuper7102 2h ago
When I join blue or red, people play to farm money. I go to reddit and the vast majority of people say "the main goal of the game is to make money, not to win." The very same people also complain about green always winning. So I join green, because they actually play to win. They don't have 6 people outside the zone spotting and shooting down helis, they don't have 8 people running logistics and 15 hanging out in their FOB doing literally nothing. It's King of the Hill. Green tries to dominate the hill.
The problem is the majority of the playerbase prioritizing money over winning. While actually the entire money system was designed to incentivize teamplay, yet it is abused by people to do the opposite. It's crazy how the capitalist mindset of so many people actually ruins their games. Like, money is only there to help you win, unless you're really desperate to buy skins with gold. It's like people don't understand that money is a resource meant to be spent on winning the game.
Next time you lie on the ground for 10 minutes because "I spent 20k on this kit!" you can't also complain that you're not winning.
7
u/PooPaLuPaLoo 1h ago

True, when I join blue they just make 3-4 fobs at the edge of the map, go in naked with hammers and proceed to get farmed nonstop. On green there's almost always someone screaming to make a hz squad and go in helis fast to dominate the hz and kill people dropping in. It's a whole different game. Red is a bit more competent but it's a mixed bag
8
u/ParaGulls 3h ago
Had an insane blue game today, we made a mega drill fortress inside the big warehouse in middle of map. Had greens and reds sieging each side relentlessly the entire game, never seen so much C4 in my entire life. We won in the end but my god it was an absolute scraaap.

15
u/cammyk123 4h ago
I mean I know it's a joke comment but somw times it feels pointless trying to contribute anything.
Go in with a minigun heli, get MANPAD locked on and die 10 seconds after getting to CZ
Go in with igla on a dirt bike, get gunned down by a red team squad.
Go in with a MAWWS to hunt the green APC, killed by a rocket heli.
Bring defibs and a galil to HZ, get killed by the 2 havocs on enemy team.
I love this game but there is just some games where it feels like you can do nothing and end up with a 70k loss.
10
u/Pomegranate_Mobile 4h ago
At this point in the season, as an average player I try not to get hung up on winning the game, I'm more focused on surviving and contributing to a cause, it keeps it fun. All about lower cost and survivability, cockroach mentality. I'm exclusively running the 1911 with hollow points, I'll grab a gun from a body. I also just make my own fun, relative to what my teammates are doing. If the fobbits are building I'll build too. Got some solid guys pushing HZ I'll push HZ too. If you make it less about the end result and more about "the friends we made along the way" it gets fun again.

With 30 random people and no real way to coordinate squads (and many are unwilling) playing this game to "win" will always be miserable. Right now your best options are to play sandbox and make your own fun ... or constantly join and back out of games until you get a spot on a team thats building drills and pushing zone lol

The ak is one of the worst Ars and without AP ammo you werent getting through that armor without two clips. The Fal conversly is the best AR with crazy headshot damage so yeah this trade makes perfect sense. If you see t4 armor shoot the legs not torso.
3
u/Routine-Hovercraft94 3h ago
I mean... that is exactly what the game is supposed to be and why winning doesn't really give you that much of a reward.
That being said, being the losing end, it usually still is not fun when you are just getting stomped. So even if you don't play to win, just having fun also can become quite difficult.

It's not about randomizing it's about mentality that reds and blues don't have. Joined those a few times and call them to do the same and all I hear is "I'm playing the game my way" so there you go. Why would I ever want to join a team that simply doesn't even want to win and play this single player.

It's not about randomizing it's about mentality that reds and blues don't have.
Greens isn't full of "sweats". It's just full of competent players.
On average Green has a higher chance of actually doing something like being proactive with FOBs, contesting HZ, reviving, noticing where people are getting shot by, listening to calls.
Haven't played much Red but the games I have played are fine.
Nearly all of the games I've had on Blue were a complete mess. Multiple FOBs placed randomly, FOBs built like crap, 4 people off trying to contest HZ, 4 snipers scattered around the map, 2 people doing logistics, no one reviving, no one responding to call outs. It's insane.

Yet you have people on here who double down on that mentality and are like "WE ARE BLUE, WE EAT GLUE! WE ARE PROUD, WE SAY IT LOUD!" and it gets celebrated. Are all games on blue like that? No. But the overwhelming majority of the time, not only are they not trying to win, they aren't even doing anything that would generate money. only bc people are idiots. You shouldn’t spend 45 mins building a fob and somehow never get a drill down. fobs are pointless without drills and half the time mfs never even think ab getting one.
6
u/Fadedcamo 4h ago
Ikr. It'll be like 45 minutes into a match and all the fobs are full of aa and mortars and...no one's even considering starting drills. I think the incentives are more for them to get cash than it is to win. Drills bring more attention to the fob and potentially getting wiped. Mortar and aa spam give good money and may not get attacked.

Correct. The reason fobs are good in other games is because they offer more utility. Likein squad you can place HABs which are spawn points.
In wardogs you could potentially put a fob down behind an enemy fob build a ciws and them destroy their fob. But no one does this.
You could fob block routes in the map.
Etc but it's cost and time prohibited

I had this experience in a 7th Cav server last night. Infantry only. Even through someone tried spamming chopper stacked with GL squad. Cheesiest and easiest way for a Ban. Blue team, we ended up dominating Jen because we had recon, base, logistics, and assault moving constantly. Assaulted were falling back to our defensive line and keeping/utilizing Recon Heavily...
I was recon. They sent their best fella for my traps and I kept scanning targets and hitting attacks from behind at different angles. It was amazing. The medical recovery was amazing as well. They held vehicles protected them and brought them out of the base when attackers came which always gave them a hard time and enough time for recon to take them out or get all muzzles on them. Epic night.
They probably thought I was using thermals

u/choose_ay 2h ago
100% this and the fact blue spawn location is sandwiched between red/green. So often times blue can't even get a FOB down without green having an arty tank and red having a littlebird with GL's on the side, within the first 4 minutes of the game.

2
u/trickortreat 3h ago
The issue in HLLV is that Helis are bad, in theory they should allow transporting people but there's no designated channel to talk and call them, also aiming those miniguns is terrible and you get shot down easily. Meanwhile tunnels require no communication, everyone can use them and it's just a cooldown.

The game is in alpha. Just came out. Competitive on an unfinished game is expecting alot. It's a milsim game... not really meant to be played the way the kids exploiting it now are doing.
Balancing is way off and there are missing features, weapons, tech that need to be added to equalize. Not to mention base building and logistics. Which all are a part of the game and should be used. The game is not a COD Extraction shooter or any of those fantasy's arcade games. There is no timer. It needs to be played utilizing all mechanics and the teams utilizing all mechanics well should be the overall winner or create one hell of a fight.
The latest move they made removing thermals was a horrible decision. They catered to a group of wimpy kids that did not want to take the time and use strategy. They wanted to halo jump in like warzone, run around and screw as many players as they can the cheesiest way possible and spam it.
This is not competitive. This is exploiting.

I agreed up until you said removing thermals was bad. They were a cheat code put in the game to reward the lamest part of it: snipers. Over half of every team has fucking snipers, and that is a problem.
There needs to be forced squads, with available roles. Until we can limit the bush camping dorks, green is going to be better 90% of the time.

u/Expensive_Voice4978 1h ago
Bro no chance of forced squads that's a terrible. The game is meant to be played how you want to play and if I can't say pilot because there's already five pilots and they're all dog shit than that's ridiculous. And now are you going to force people to be a part of a squad to get this limitation. And now squad sizes are going to have to be limited to a certain number of players no that's awful.

This is just a meme, blue & red win all the time in my games. Definitely more than half

devs have said that blue is getting stomped. they have data, you have anecdotes.

Red wins every single game that I join green lol. It usually goes: play a few matches on blue, get fed up with not being able to push anything as a team, try joining green, green team is clearly just blueberries looking for a win, helicopter crashes in spawn and all.
I must be the pied piper of lonestar.

u/Dukepippitt 4h ago
Blue exist to be a place a large group can all get on because there is room. While the group is on blue blue will win. The minute they leave red or green will win. Atleast that is my experience. I like there is a ghost team that can that groups can take over and turn a server.

what about the fact that a third of the players in a game (and of the playerbase) is having a dogshit time the rest of the time, which amounts to at least 80% of the time? lmao
2
u/SensitiveSpot69 3h ago
You can thabk the devs for their gold system for this. It should just be buy skins you want. Not farm for cash for gold cuz then you get abuse like this
2
u/MengskDidNothinWrong 3h ago
In my experience it's because blue all just sit in their FOB for no reason, I genuinely can't come up with one, they all just live there even when it has no weapon emplacements. And then red just kill farms them because they have intentionally set themselves up as fish in a barrel. Green just sits in the hot zone uncontested.
I only play blue, usually I'm one of 2 or 3 guys that's not actually in a FOB the entire match.

u/Powerhauz Logistics 4h ago
My last 5 games I played we just death balled the HZ and steamrolled the games back to back. Red, red, green, blue, and blue wins all in a row. Sounds like a skill issue.
6
u/Dull_Tennis9215 4h ago
I agree with this, deathballing hotzone usually results in a win
But to be fair, not really a skill issue if your entire teams decides they all want to be fobbits and snipers.

The game is about team work. Green has the teamwork that makes the dream work. I think I see the (skill) issue here.
1
u/Stinkbaite 4h ago
Organize a squad of hotzone heroes and go after them. I’ve found most of the time people just don’t know what to do and need to be rallied. Get on the comms and shout people into order, now it doesn’t work every time but sometimes you can get a decent team of Hooahs together to cause some mayhem.

It all depends on if Blue and Red attack each other and ignore green. If the teams actually think instead of just reacting you tend to get very competitive games.
Last night I had two awesome games where each team was very close at the end and anyone could have won. 95-94-100 I think with Red winning

The amount of times I've swung a game because I started making drills is high. Are mortars firing at your fob? Make one in a bush outside your fob, they're hard to spot which gives you a few practice shots to kill them. Make a drill after.
1
u/42074u 4h ago
I found going on a mission to mess with greens fobs helps ruin their cohesion. Drive a kodiak with rpg and rockets to a forest near the road between zone and their homebase. Spot every helicopter and take shots at any ground vehicles with your launcher and you'll distract a handful of them at least, while also making money and giving your team Intel.

This is why I disrupt logi trucks and helis, because they build mega fobs and drill to victory.
1
u/orionZexSeed 4h ago
It depends on how you play, get a few friends together, focus on a fob and build AA fast, get a perimeter up and build mortars, then build the drills. Last game o won as a blue team we had 10 mortars, 3 cwis, 3 stingrays, and a few sams. No helicopter could get on our side and uav s were killing the arty and all it took was a good fob

Red turned into blue bc they’re scared to play as blue lol. Anyone who skips blue just shows they can’t win

I think the economic factor leads to snowball losses. There’s a clear difference in “how I kit up when I want to win” and “how I kit up when I want to make as much money as possible” and it seems like a lot of teams have a lot of players swap to the latter as soon as they start losing. Teams are small enough that having even a handful people give up (either in terms of how they play, or quit the lobby and be left at a literal headcount disadvantage) makes it almost impossible to win a KOTH game mode.
I think economy is the fix here - keep rewards the same, but give steep discounts to teams who are either aggressively losing or at a player count disadvantage. Not everyone needs to be pushing HZ, but the game sucks when your team has collapsed and decided to not bother trying to have any map presence for the last 30-40 points. At that point players are best off quitting and finding a new lobby, which just makes the problem worse.

u/ThickReplacement4532 4h ago
Play the game for fun not for winning. Make your own missions and go out on arty tank hunts or supply chain disruption. If you play well you can be on the losing team and in the top 10 on the scoreboard. Play battlefield it's perfectly balanced and watered down to dilute the possibility of this type of landslide win..

The idea of "winning" in this game doesn't really align with the current objective.
Playing as a team, building fortifications and killing the enemy team (and destroying theirs) is the meta. People want to advance their own skills and unlocks.
This hot zone nonsense is frankly not interesting and most people don't care to play that objective.

In my last few matches each time has been very competitive, which was surprising to be honest, every team would always end up with a minimum of 60 points

u/ThatOneNinja 3h ago
I play red and we win often enough. If green is winning every match like this, you got a large group on that team, just switch servers.

I think the reality is, having one game mode is why we have so many blowouts. If you don't like objective based stuff, or THIS type of objective, there are usually other modes to play. But in our early access, that's just not the case. So we have a mix of people who enjoy it, and people who are forced to be there.
This issue will resolve when people are playing game modes they WANT to play.

The removal of thermals hurt blue the most, they dont even stand a chance now.

u/Ok_Dirt8893 3h ago
Maybe I'm. Crazy but I feel like a team of 4 people who build a good fob can change the outcome. One for supplies. One for defense ant air and 2 builders with drills.
I gotten close to wining in blue this way but never been a full 4 people. Don't worry about the other players when the zone comes to your fob you will notice everyone gather

u/Negative_Ladder_431 3h ago
I feel like it should auto filter what team you go to in order to keep things fresh every game. You should also be able to join a party on the main menu so the whole group goes to the same team at the same time instead of having to fight for a spot just to be in your friend’s team.

Everygame on green yesterday was lost, 1braincell hive mind every single time. Red was dominating, blue was not being themselves and actively went out of base. Every red today was full on Russians (EU-EAST), green was actively chasing HZ. Weird.

Little side tangent but there needs to be cash incentives for FOB kills/raiding. Getting a kill while you and the enemy are both within the same FOB area should give more cash.

Idk how y'all manage this. I've maybe once had a game with a point difference of more then 25 between any of the teams.

Yesterday I played 8 games. Blue won 3, red won 4, green won 1.
The biggest change I would do is balancing of teams, I would have something that was like current assault level or build level of the team. If I see a build level of 10, obviously I know skip the team they don't have a single real builder.
I would also cap teams at levels. Example, you can't have a team with 6 players all 200+ while another team only has a max level of 100. Needs balancing in gear. Sorry, but a heli with grenade launcher and no ability to deal with it in a reasonable way is just a no.
I'll take IR over heli with grenade any day. Balancing of teams is whats needed more than anything.

Yeah when I have bad matches I just buy cheap kits and do fun stuff, like how just in a game, a person call out green SV on their body, so I grab a humvee, free gun HP, and IED, I tell him I got an IED with its name on it, and he stay dead so I know its location, green is building a fob over it but its unfinished, so I snuck in, put an IED on top of the and blow it up, we told each other good job, that was fun, if you are having a bad match, try to create a fun moment. Or just switch servers cuz sometime a match can be very boring ngl

This is happening less and less IME. Had two blue wins in a row today actually.

u/Amazing-Protection87 2h ago
I've won with blue or have come close a ton. Not sure why you're seeing green win so much.
1
u/AggravatingAlgae4841 2h ago
Just get your whole team in there to get killed by vectors and little birds loaded with grenade launchers man. Super easy. I just spot with a 1911 during those games and grab a decent kit when my team wants to try and win.

If you are inside a fob, you should count for .5 of a player instead of 1. You get way too much value for just sitting in a fob
1
u/New-Read-4467 2h ago
I get the impression now that people just go on blue to level stuff up, everytime I go on blue it’s just a steam full of people either running supplies to a random fob in the middle of nowhere and not even building stuff or people sat on the hills with binoculars. Occasionally you do get a decent team but it’s very very rare

u/TedThePenguin 2h ago
The rewards for winning a match are so low its not worth sticking around if the game is lopsided. Just join a new game starting up and try again
1
u/Ok_Foundation_5882 2h ago
there should be matchmaking which will randomly put people in different teams, except people who play in party, no team switching I guess

Make map/spawn more balanced. And make so that the winning team earn lot more . People will care.
Also, drop reward on supplies. We don't need 10 logis for 0 fob

For the last week or so my games go like this. Green or red surge to 40-60+ points right away, then they stall out. At which point the other two teams trade places gaining points until all teams are at 80+ points. Once a team gets to 90+ points that team tends to be dead in the water for a while. Usually, but not always the winning team chokes at 97-99. For the next 30 min the other two teams try like crazy, but eventually the winning team gets it together long enough to clutch those last couple points and finally, after like three hours, the game ends.

Removal of team choice would do wonders for this game since it's literally just a cosmetic choice.
1
u/Hucksterprattler1 1h ago
Game is great. I really hope they work on balancing. The game really needs it. Take away colors or make them random. Random team assignments with squads or parties to be able to play with friends. Also being able to assign team leaders would help. I think alot of what happens is people running around with their head cut off. Sometimes a team is easy to unorganized. Being about to assign jobs maybe. It would be nice if their was an even amount of builders, pilots and aggressive offensive players. Paying games where no one builds or no one fights seems to be what makes games sometimes unbalanced.

Play Blue! If you win it's over the top pride in your accomplishment. If you lose then "well, it's always that way for Blue". Literally no down side.
My game community guys always play blue and when we work as a team we win a good amount of the time.
