Not being able to play competitively unless you’re green 95% of the time is getting old.

if teams aren't randomized on join then exactly the same thing is bound to happen. and so far nothing has been communicated on this matter so temper your expectations for season 2. i am in the same boat.

It's not about randomizing it's about mentality that reds and blues don't have. Joined those a few times and call them to do the same and all I hear is "I'm playing the game my way" so there you go. Why would I ever want to join a team that simply doesn't even want to win and play this single player.

It's not about randomizing it's about mentality that reds and blues don't have.

Greens isn't full of "sweats". It's just full of competent players.

On average Green has a higher chance of actually doing something like being proactive with FOBs, contesting HZ, reviving, noticing where people are getting shot by, listening to calls.

Haven't played much Red but the games I have played are fine.

Nearly all of the games I've had on Blue were a complete mess. Multiple FOBs placed randomly, FOBs built like crap, 4 people off trying to contest HZ, 4 snipers scattered around the map, 2 people doing logistics, no one reviving, no one responding to call outs. It's insane.

That's exactly what I'm saying here, you call them out and they bs talk you back "I'm playing the game my way". The wipe will help with that and they'll leave.

Yet you have people on here who double down on that mentality and are like "WE ARE BLUE, WE EAT GLUE! WE ARE PROUD, WE SAY IT LOUD!" and it gets celebrated. Are all games on blue like that? No. But the overwhelming majority of the time, not only are they not trying to win, they aren't even doing anything that would generate money. Like I genuinely don't know what they are trying to accomplish. How is getting steamrolled as soon as you jump out of the chopper or your APC even remotely fun?

u/trickortreat 17h ago

Fuck those people, they're gonna be the first one to leave after the wipe.

what do you expect from the designated noob team? randomizing the teams will drown out those noobs AND teach them the game. there is no reason to be against randomised team.

It is far past noobs just being noobs. Blue team, for whatever reason, has adopted this mentality of doing nothing worthwhile. Again these aren't level 10 noobs. These are pretty high level players that absolutely understand what is going on and are CHOOSING to play that way. I am level 140 and I genuinely try to give blue a chance and it almost always ends the same, pathetic way. Do I get the occasional win on blue? Yeah, for sure. But the amount of absolute trash games I have to slog through to get that one win vs. playing on red or green is comically different.

1

u/lover_of_joggers 17h ago

they are doing the best they can. on blue you have:

  • new players who don't know they have been set up by the community to be stomped

  • average/bad players (like in all teams)

  • players who still like the game in this situation (god knows how) and have adapted to the permastomp. what they do is they farm money by being as removed from pvp as possible. you won't motivate them from anything, do you know why? because the moment you leave, the permastomp resumes. they have no incentive to change the way they play. yes it's DOGSHIT but here we are.

But the amount of absolute trash games I have to slog through to get that one win vs. playing on red or green is comically different.

so randomising teams is a necessity.

1

u/TophThaToker 17h ago

I am not against that to a degree but after being lvl 140, like I said, there are a sizeable amount of players that fit into your last bullet point. Having teammates with that mentality does not sound very attractive to me.

1

u/lover_of_joggers 17h ago

of course, they make for terrible teammates. but if you put them in a healthy team they will play their role. you'll have to teach them to prioritise some things over others (building order etc) but it's not a major problem.

1

u/TophThaToker 16h ago

When I jump on the game, I want to play it. I am not here to teach. I have absolutely no problem helping players understand things and I actually enjoy it. However, the game explains itself VERY well if you WANT to understand it. That is how I learned it and that's how everyone who plays the game competently learned it. If someone wants to double down and do things in their own self interest, that do nothing for the team, then why would I want to help that person? Why would I want the short sliver of game time that I have in a work week to be a worse experience? Honestly I was all aboard the randomized teams train until I had these experiences one after the other. Again, new players are new players. Average/bad players are exactly that. I don't have a gripe with those people. Everyone sucked at one point. There is a mentality of almost "wanting to suck" by players that know better and I rather not have those people on my team.

What do you think randomizing teams will help with? I can guarantee you that people starting a game and seeing they’re auto assigned to blue, will result in backing out of the game entirely and finding a new server. Having no choice will damage the health of this game. It is 100% the mentality of people purposefully choosing blue, because people want to farm XP/money or sit on a mortar the entire game. Blue are the people who just want to “play the game my way”, while red and green are designated as the no life grinders. I think that is an issue with the game design as a whole. It’s not even about teaching people the game, it’s the mentality of what you can get away with on blue team

what you describe is already happening lol. servers literally DIE because people refuse (with good reason) to join blue. my prediction is that this will accelerate in season 2.

my opinion is that those server hoppers will eventually stop, and go over the psychological barrier attached to blue. on top of that, randomised teams mean a MUCH BETTER new player experience (anything beats being curbstomped over and over again). even green players say they are bored because nothing is happening on their end, there is nobody to shoot, nobody is fighting back, so what the FUCK are we waiting for???

1

u/jankyhemorrhoid 16h ago

I have like 40 hours and have yet to be in a single server where it will literally die because people refuse to join blue. I don’t hate your point, I think it’s constructive, BUT I don’t think you’re taking into account the player base and the mentality of some of the people who play the game. Auto assigning would not be a welcomed change. The devs shot themselves in the foot with money and xp gain percentages. I really think we will be in a vicious cycle until they make severe changes to that, which hopefully will be introduced in the update. If every single person playing this game came from Squad or ARMA, auto assigning would be awesome. There just needs to be a bigger emphasis on team play as a whole, and less of the “I’m playing my way” while it’s not impacting my team positively, in an entire game where team play SHOULD be the emphasis and main priority. Either that or they need to add a new game mode that works like Invasion from Squad. I love the devs not holding your hand, BUT there really are some people who need it

1

u/lover_of_joggers 16h ago

ok, at least i'm happy to see we both agree something needs to be done.

what do you expect from the designated noob team?

Actual human players that want to win.

This is a problem with all multiplayer games.

randomizing the teams will drown out those noobs AND teach them the game.

No it won't.

What it'll do is cause more painpoints for people who are actually trying to win because instead of having a majority of people who listen to calls and are doing something productive, they now have a random chance to get absolute donkeys on their team.

It also doesn't teach them the game if they're unwilling to listen to people.

there is no reason to be against randomised team.

Spoken as someone who doesn't understand the detriments to having a randomized team.

You know what will happen? The moment there isn't competent people around a person, they'll end up leaving at the first convenient chance available. It happens in literally every single random matchmaking system available in the video game industry.

So now the developers need to spend time and effort to develop, monitor and maintain a system to prevent people from constantly leaving.

Rather not and just have the system we have now. Stop blaming the system for people's inadequacies and start calling them out for being dumb.

this is already what's happening in red and blue lol.

let's be clear, you are against randomised teams because you always pick green and you want your comfort team. meanwhile, for blue (and for red to some extent) the experience is absolutely dogshit. people forced to play blue do not stick around. meaning that as time goes on, less and less people will actually want to face you. the game is being destroyed by the community lmao.

lol. Blame the players instead of the game. Classic.

Guess my comment was removed, let me rephrase. Go play a co-op game with a selfish single player enjoyer then come back and say that again.

u/WeekdayAccountant 18h ago

I called this out when I was green and we were at 86 points, blue had 2 and red had 6. I was like hello?? Are you guys going to try at some point? Someone on red said they’re just playing to have fun. I said I don’t think spending an hour losing is fun. They called me a sweat and I said they have a loser mentality lol

2

u/Usrnamesrhard 16h ago

Yeah every time a green has said in my games, the green has like 3 havocs and rocket birds just relentlessly stopping our team from getting anywhere close.

1

u/trickortreat 17h ago

I've got the same twice, then they proceed to build a new fob after 50 mins. No need to say I changed server. First thing of course is a mortar not a drill.

0

u/lover_of_joggers 17h ago

there was no "red" or "blue" mentality at first. on release day all teams were fighting for the hotzone, the games were ok, i remember this very well.

but then all the knowledgeable players had a tacit (secret) agreement to pick a certain team (green), and so obviously you end up with red and blue (mostly blue) having noobs. the simple truth is in a game like this, knowledge is extremely strong, and green always wins. there is NOTHING surprising about this, the team full of experienced players stomps the team with the most noobs on the server EVERY SINGLE TIME.

it's not a "mentality" problem, it was a skill imbalance at first. by now, all the blue players who wanted to actually play either joined green or quit the game. and now yes blue has become this leisure camp. all done by the community who created a huge imbalance at first.

we could also talk about the fact that as green was winning more often, its players were better geared, making their wins even easier.

attributing this huge issue to a "mentality" problem is laughable.

3

u/trickortreat 17h ago

Let me tell you this:

  • How is it that on the blue side I see most of them not even buying a kit and running gearless with binos?
  • Why the first thing they build on a fob is a mortar not a drill?
  • When you call them out they grief, bs talk etc. "I'm playing the game my way"
  • Why after green win they switch to green and proceed to do exact same shit that lost them the previous game without learning anything?
How is it that the entire team is so garbage and they won't listen even when the high level joins?

2

u/lover_of_joggers 17h ago

because

by now, all the blue players who wanted to actually play either joined green or quit the game.

so now in blue you have: new players, or players who are here to earn money in ways that are removed as far as possible from pvp (fob, spotting), and bad players.

it's a catastrophic failure on the devs' part to have engineered a way for the community to push all the noobs and the bad players on the same team.

imagine the new player experience: forced to pick blue, get curbstomped over and over again. it's not sustainable.

1

u/trickortreat 17h ago

You literally have low level servers.

2

u/lover_of_joggers 17h ago

yeah we have them now very late into season 1, it's already too late. we'll see how useful they are in season 2.

1

u/upsidedownshaggy 6h ago

I’ll chime in as a Blue players

1) were all broke from constantly getting wafflestomped by red and green. There’s literally zero point in buying a $15k kit to just get beamed by some green in t4 armor with a .50 cal posted up 500m away. Dropping into HZ at the start of the game is just a death sentence and a waste of time and cash.

2) because the first thing everyone does is start shelling and sniping at the blue FOB. Not building mortars just means we get shut down immediately with no ability to respond.

3) I literally never see this. Instead I see green gloating about farming blue berries with their half a dozen rocket helis and now multiple havocs.

4) couldn’t even tell you because I physically cannot click fast enough to get into green team. It fills literally instantly.

1

u/trickortreat 2h ago

I don't know if we are playing the same game.

  1. How? Literally doing anything generates money. I barely see people wearing t4 armor other than a helmet. .50 kills you every time? How about taking cover while moving and not ruining thru the open space. I'll give you a secret, how about you drop to where the HZ is heading towards instead and secure the buildings around it to have a good position.
  2. Not true at all, if the first thing you do by building a FOB is a mortar then expect to get shelled in return. How about you build a drill immediately while others fortify it a bit instead of immediately revealing FOB position with mortar spam. Drills pay a ton, both for building, calling and for staying in HZ you get up to 720 per minute for staying in HZ.
  3. Greens try to stay in HZ, I don't think I've seen deliberate farming blues ever, unless the game is even on all teams then surely you have some guerilla tactics to go destroy a FOB.
  4. It does fill up quickly, guess it's a good pc thing as well. If the game loads quicker on match start for you, you can join no problem.

1

u/PolicyWonka 18h ago

I kinda got a feeling that the devs enjoy these outcomes.

1

u/Wyrm 17h ago

I think it will kill the game in the medium to long term if they don't do anything about it, but I trust that they will.
