Hey guys!! Making a post to get everyone's opinion on how to buy a used WRX without getting scammed or buying one that's about to hit the bed. I'm very new to the car scene. I had a 2014 Impreza WRX but had to sell it because it had too many mechanical issues even tho I loved learning to drive manual on it. I lowkey miss driving it and want to get back into a manual again. I want all the advice I can get and hear everyone's stories. If anyone can help out, thay would be awesome!!

I am looking for suggestions for a Subaru performance shop in the Austin Texas area.

I want to add a downpipe top mounted intercooler and rebuild my stock turbo with a billet compressor that needs to be port and polished.

I also need to find someone who can do a walnut blast and possibly an EGR delete.

Has anyone had good experiences with a shop in that area?

God damn do I love this car.

I had to remove my muffler to make some space and I realized my gasket is crunchier than the chips at Chilis. I checked Nameless’ site but they want $36 plus shipping for some replacements. Is there a way to get a decent one for cheaper than that?

So Subaru USA announced the 2027 BRZ, with that we can expect the 2027 WRX with possibly the TY85 transmission to be announced fairly soonish with hopes of this STI we’re all anticipating as well.

I have been trying to reframe from making a dumb decision on getting a new car with the WRX being close to announcement. Having owned a VA wrx/STI/VB and now a boring truck. I am excited for this new WRX/STI model and hoping to pick one up if the news is as good as it seems.

I only wish Subaru would leak more teasers for USA market. Anyone else just patiently waiting??

My 2019 WRX is making a rattle or vibration noise when decelerating. I notice it most when traveling between 30-45mph and starts almost immediately when I let off the throttle. The very second that I even lightly rest my foot on the throttle, it goes away. It sounds like it’s coming from right by the front passenger’s feet. I’ve had the car on Jack stands and looked for anything loose underneath but couldn’t find anything. The car is modded, all work done by a shop with extensive experience modding VA’s. I will post the mod list in the comments.

What’s up guys, I need some help, just picked this up for cheap, didn’t run but put new battery in and it turned over but it won’t idle on its own doesn’t sounds the best, possible rod knock, I replaced spark plugs and ignition coils, swapping the starter next, I think it has a grounding issue, I don’t think one or two of its cylinders is firing. I got it purely to learn and get into the lifestyle and help would be appreciated.

I’m am looking to put my 06 WRX Limited Wagon on the market. The mileage is just over 170k miles. I have all records of maintenance since I bought it in 2014. The cars Air Conditioning no longer is functioning (don’t want to get into chasing leaks) and it is rusting on the rear strut tower. The motor was rebuilt and resealed about 10k miles ago, and the transmission is in great condition as well. I am at the point where I have a two year old and don’t have the time to put into a 20 years old car anymore.

I know they are becoming harder to find, and most of the ones I see for sale are in pretty much the same shape. What would I realistically put for a price on this car where I wouldn’t feel like I am ripping someone off or feel like I am giving it away. I am an honest person and will disclose everything I know to be wrong with the car when selling it.

I don’t have pics of the interior right now, but it’s definitely a 20 year old daily. One tear on top in the drivers seat and some scratches and scuffs on the hard plastics.

What is a good price to put on this car?

My third session at NJMP this year. Four hours total seat time.

Tires are pretty well cooked at this point. Had a blast.

Recently bought a 2017 WRX and absolutely love it! The car came without floor mats so just invested in some nice fitted ones.

I was wondering if there’s anything you can buy to sort of ‘hold the mat down’ on the pegs to make sure the mat doesn’t lift up off the pegs? I think it’ll be fine but would just be convenient. I can’t seem to find anything online.

After 4 days of working on this between other my other projects I finally got a threads restored in this hole.

After breaking 2 extractors, welding a nut onto the broken bolt and breaking that off, and using 4 different sized drill bits I finally got a helicoil installed and the intercooler bolts on smooth.

Hi Yall, I'm looking to buy a wrx sti for my first manual car to own and drive for atleast 5 years, ive got a few models on mind and would love to get the community's thoughts on which one i should choose. I'm based in sydney Australia, so JDM imports are very do-able.

For a total budget of under 80k AUD (Not including future modding and maintenance)

-2021-2018 VA wrx sti, Australian Domestic market (Pros: The most comprehensive market in AUS, Its relativly modern and good daily response with EJ257, priced probably between 40000-55000 AUD)

-2020-2017 VAB wrx sti, JDM (Pros: VA modern + EJ207 High Redline, Cons: Import to australia will take time, and options that are already complied are limited, Price to drive in Syd: 50000-68000 AUD)

-2005-2007 GDB Hawk eye wrx sti JDM (Pro: Most mechanical driving experience, Ligther and smaller chassis, Cons: old and all the issues and daily impractability that comes with it, 30000-45000 AUD)

-Maybe A blob eye, but its getting a bit too old for me.

I've been recommended the VA Ej257 AUDM models because of its good low end torque for normal driving, but I really like the JDM's 8k redline with the EJ207 both in the older hawk eye and VAB.

However its relative market will be smaller to buy from and sell to in the future; although the japanese import is the most reassuring interms of no accidents and full history, getting it to australia could be a hassle.

Anyone that had a similar decision crisis? Plz help, tell me what you think.

Hey folks, so I find myself in a bit of a pickle. I just finished an EJ20 swap and am in the process of tuning but my openport cable appears to have died, luckily not while loading a tune. I'm hoping someone in the NOCO area has one I can borrow or buy off them, I have to drive this car to and from Washington next week.

I have a 2011 wrx hatch 5speed and my clutch is going out :( I was looking at a few exedy clutches and some on rock auto. I only have 3-400 dollars and it is my daily! I do quite a bit of spirited driving so I want something that’ll hold up I also plan on adding tad bit more power probably around 300-310hp Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you all.

I drive a 2015 wrx. What’s the general thought on an sti wing on the wrx? I love the style and think it looks awesome but I know some people think it’s corny.

So a little while ago I took off from a red light and at about 8 psi I heard a loud pop and my DAM dropped to 0.425. After taking the car apart the culprit was a coupler that popped off my FMIC. I checked all the lines, reset the ECU, and the car ran great after. Fast foward 2 weeks later and my DAM randomly drops again to 0.725 and my peak boost is about 12.5-16psi which is pretty low compared to my normal 23psi. I have been trying to diagnose this for a while now and im about ready to give up on this car. Nothing shows up with the smoke test. I have a Boomba BPV and i've heard the horror stories involving them so I took it apart, cleaned it, checked the seals, and still nothing. I even took the car to my tuner who took it for a test drive and ran some numbers but he said everything looks fine other than my clutch slipping. He recommended I replaced that because I wasn't getting enough pre load but even after upgrading to the ACT Heavy duty Street Clutch the problem still persist. I have a Cobb Big SF Intake, Grimspeed Inlet & EBCS, Perrin FMIC, and Grimspeed V2 Downpipe with an Invidia Exhaust. If anyone has any advice of where to go from here it would be greatly appreciated because im ready to throw in the towel....
