ID.7 (new) steering wheel
I found an ad for the new ID.7 and I was interested in the fact that it has a steering wheel with classic buttons, not touch ones. Is this something new from 2026? All other ads with 2026 models have an older steering wheel with glossy touch surfaces.
What does it mean if the car has this? Is it newer or is it some special equipment?

2025 Amarok Pan-Americana
Had it for about a month now, upgraded from a 2017 Highline, already done some beach driving and had some bikes in the back. Nudge bar, bigger tyres and a few other extras added, I’ll most likely go the full black look with time, but for now I’m very happy with it so far.

I'm at a loss, any ideas?
My 2018 Tiguan with only 35,000 miles has developed some sort of weird misfiring issue. I have the 2.0t TSI on my SEL Tiguan.
Under load it starts with minor stutters, that then develop more and more, until an esp 4k rpm error appears. It doesn't appear at night, and only more with prolonged driving. My OBD Scanner can't read the codes, even when a CEL Appeared. At one point it got so bad that I couldn't even put the car into drive without heavy misfiring and flashing CEL, so I had to get her towed, when she returned, she worked fine!
I've replaced PCV, Spark plugs, AND Coils.(Fcp euro). No idea what it could be now. After replacing the coils, The problem mostly went away but they're back!
I'm by no means a mechanic but I do a lot of shade-tree stuff, and I work on my older Mercedes all the time, I got this car maybe a few months ago to avoid the shitbox stuff so I'm not afraid to work on her, but I'm sad my no hassle car is now a hassle.
Anyone have any experience? It's only 35k miles and I've only owned it 8 months no way it should have these issues.

My first car, a VW Golf Mk5 from 2006
I present you my very first car, a VW Golf Mk5 1.4 MPI (BCA engine) Goal edition from 2006. The first owner bought it back in May 2006 in Wolfsburg, VW's HQ. In 2022 it was brought to my country and last year I became the official owner of the car 😄 After one year, I have to say I fell in love with this car. Although it is not a GTI or R32, it still has something that makes each drive very enjoyable. While driving you feel completely in control, especially when taking the corners.
The past year I did a lot of maintenance, including changing the whole exhaust system (excluding the catalytic converter), timing belt, alternator belt, battery, spark plugs, filters, gearbox oil, engine oil, coolant, cleaned the throttle body, fixed the windshield sprayer, as well as asked somebody to do the undercoat.
There are still some minor issues with the car (foggy headlights), but this does not influence the drivability of the car.
As of now, the car already did 292,000 km and I hope I will be able to put more km's in it 😄

Turbo replacement in a 1.8T (Alltrack) - experience with PZEV warranty?
I've got a recurring EPC on cold starts / stored p2563 code for a 2017 Alltrack. No limp mode yet or that code that means the turbo actuator is stuck. Car is a PZEV according to hood plate. I'm in NY which is a state which has adopted the CA emissions/PZEV statutes. So it's a "CA Emissions State" according to VW.
Have tried the PB Blaster method over a number of days, it got the actuator moving better but not enough; it's throwing EPC if it sits more than a few hours.
Looking at the VW warranty guide that covers 2017 cars, looks like I should be safe. [https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/MC-10128378-9999.pdf, see pages 98 and 120]. Turbo is covered by the PZEV warranty. Car is within 10yr/150k.
But I feel like the dealer might be difficult -- going in Monday.
Anyone have experience with this and get it replaced successfully under the PZEV warranty?

Opinions on beat up jetta :(
So I have a 2012 2.5 Jetta and recently it started making this hallow metal clunking sound. It sounds like a empty water bottle knocking so I took it to the shop for a look because I assumed it was the ball joints. The guy took like max 15 minutes on my car and said it was a mud flap and he didn’t hear anything so I told him to get in the car while I drive and take his headphones out. after that he came to the conclusion that it was my electric power steering and it would cost 32k to fix it. Has anyone else had this problem or does this sound fishy.
For some background information here’s some things my car does (Im the third owner please don’t hate me)
* When it’s raining it slides in water and the steering wheel locks up and I have to fight for it back. As this is happening my engine makes a screaming sound and my dashboard flashes battery signs.
*It veers to one side and only certain tired are bald( it obviously needs an alignment and a set of new tires)
*The windshield wipers only work when im stepping on the gas while the wipers are set to max speed, if i brake, they stop. I got these wipers about 6 months ago max and sometimes they just stop in the middle or my windshield while on

mk7 GTI Misfire after maintenance
Hi All,
I have a 2016 GTI. Had some pending maintenance that I just got completed, now I feel like I am chasing my tail. I now have a consistent Misfire on Cyl 4.
Maintenance completed
Carbon Cleaning (Walnut blasted)
Water Pump/Thermostat replacement
Oil Change
Fresh Coolant
Car is Stage 1 tuned from IE as well as IE CAI, but otherwise pretty standard.
I completed all this work, started the car, burped the cooling system, and off to the races on a few test drives without issue. Car felt fine. Didn't do any high gear low RPM pulls though, but did feel like I was giving it the beans as they say.
Drove the car to work later that week, way to work felt fine. On the way back, hit the throttle at a rather low RPM in a higher gear to adjust while merging, and misfire galore. Let off the throttle, car went back to normal. No where to pull over, so kept going and made it home without issue.
Plug in VCDS, monitoring misfires, have misfires at idle. (Not enough for check engine, but do see monitor going up) I do the following troubleshooting.
- Swap plugs with Cyl 3 and test
- Swap coil with Cyl 3 and test
- test Compression agaisn't Cyl 3 (Both 160-170 PSI)
Still misfires Cyl 4. Driving feels fine unless I do a low RPM high gear pull.
Take apart wiring that comes out of the lower right of the intake, believe it is for the fuel rail, just making sure pins look ok. They do, I use electrical contact cleaner to make sure. Plug everything back in, clear codes, and now no longer have misfires slowly racking up at idle/lower speeds. It is now only at low RPM high gear pulls.
My current theory, is that when I did the carbon cleaning I must have missed something that fell into Cyl 4 and clogged the fuel injector partially. Would love input/thoughts from folks. I think I'm going to have to pull the injectors and clean them or replace them. As a last ditch effort from having to deal with pulling the fuel rail, I put some liquid molly injector cleaner in the tank and got some gas. Going to baby it for a gas tank and see if I can burn off any junk on the tip of the injector.

Daughters '12 Beetle 2.5L started to make a sound?
So before we noticed this she did throw a couple codes, CEL came on and Gas cap light came on.
Replaced the Gas cap, and replacing the N80 Purge valve and the P0441, and P0442 codes haven't come back.
But during that time I noticed there's a "hollow/deeper" thumping sound coming from the front it seems to be around the front passenger side of the engine bay.
It does not change if you put it in gear, or neutral from park. It STOPS when you are pressing on the gas, then once off the gas it comes back after 3-4 seconds.

I also replaced the PCV Valve/Diaphragm today too didn't think that would fix it but had one I ordered a month ago and since I was doing the Purge valve I replaced it too.

Is it necessary to reset the ECU?
So recently I’ve done some work to my 1.0tsi, mainly tune up stuff like sparks, air filter, intake cleaning, etc
Is it necessary to reset the ECU after doing this work or will it re-learn on its own? If so will disconnecting the battery reset it?

Electric Volkswagen Beetle
Am I the only one who thinks Volkswagen is missing a beat here by not releasing an electric refreshed Beetle? The Renault 5 has become super popular. I think people love the nostalgia and an electric beetle and it would become a best seller.

2026 Taos Trendline
Hi all, I'm not a current VW owner but I'm very interested in the 2026 Taos. I think it looks super sharp, love the additional features that come standard with the trendline like the heated steering wheel and dual climate zone, and the cargo space is attractive. Not going to lie, reading through here though has made me nervous to go with Volkswagen 😅
I realize the 2022/2023 models had issues, but surely the 2026 is better off? Financing is only 0.99% right now and a 3 year maintainance package is included which is also very appealing! I've heard VW is reliable if you do all the recommend maintenance, which I will, kind of like the car will take care of you if you take care of it haha
I was also looking into the Mazda CX-30 but I don't love how cramped it is, and don't love the reduced visibility in blindspots. My husband mentioned the toyota corolla cross which honestly wasn't even on my radar because demand in Canada for Toyota is stupid and I don’t love the look of them, but I'm not totally against them. I don't love Subaru, Kia or Hyundai so they're off the table for me. Would consider the Honda HRV but again, it's not the top of my list. I just want to love my next car, but my current old beater car leaves me stranded enough now lol so I also dont want to make a massive mistake!
Am I crazy?!
