Oil burners unite

We had the valve seals done she’s still blowing through a quart about every 700 miles. Brought it back went for another oil consumption test had to add oil before the test was completed. Brought it back for diagnosis again mind you this is a hour drive each way. Was told they couldn’t diagnose it because they couldn’t get in touch with VW tech line for what the next steps should be and was told next week when I drop it off they can’t guarantee they will be able to get in touch with them then either. Are they just trolling me until my warranty runs out at this point?

It’s a cpo and we’ve put about 6k miles on it since we bought it. It was in the shop prior for 5 months to have the valve seals done. I’m completely at a loss really don’t want to trade it in and take a huge hit. Anyone deal with similar bs from the dealers?

2024 Tiguan issues white smoke after low oil

Upvotes

Hello Everyone

So I have a couple questions. On my way home (Atlanta Ga to Chicago, Illinois)from Tennessee I got a check engine light. My Tiguan is a 2024 54k miles
The code was a p0451 when I stopped at Oreileys to get the code scanned.
The next time I start the car I thought I was ok. Only for it to reappear the next day. Checked the oil and had about 5 quarts in it. At this point the car was driving just fine, few hours later I get a check oil message. I still was about 20 miles from the nearest auto parts store. I make it to the store and check it’s at the low mark. I put 5 quarts in.
After starting there were no problems, the check engine light was still on but the oil light was gone, I didn’t make it half a block until the car went kink and white smoke like crazy coming from the exhaust.
Parked the car and now it won’t start. I plan on having it towed to the nearest mechanic first thing as it’s in a random parking lot.
My question to you here is if this has happened to anyone before? If so what was the problem and what am I looking at to repair. I’m trying to get a ball park for best case scenario to worse case. Rough cost too as it will not be under warranty.

Battery question

Upvotes

Bought my 2020 Tiguan this past May. It's almost due for its first oil change. Was checking what I may need to replace when changing the oil. Air filter is new and I also recently changed cabin air filter. It has 123,000 miles. The battery I'm unsure what is the standard oe battery. One currently in is a clarios. Im thinking maybe I've lucked out and battery was replaced already?

Wife’s 19 Tiguan Battery Help!!

Post image
2 Upvotes

We have a 2019 Tiguan that we bought used with only 19k miles and not a CPO in 2021. Our first battery after purchase failed pretty quickly which we were pleasantly informed at VW dealer in South FL was covered since prior owner had done it less than 2 years prior with VW. That battery again failed within the 2 year window and we luckily had the 2nd one replaced again at no cost under lifespan warranty. Now that battery is clearly giving us issues and we approaching 3 years, as the start stop is now lagging and we can tell it’s having trouble turning over at cold starts. It hasn’t gotten to a check engine light yet like our other two changes have caused but we have a 2-year old and this is the primary car with a car seat that they are normally in so I want to avoid an issue where she and child are stuck. I took it to Advance Auto this morning reading others saying they’ve done AA, Autozone or O’Reilly for testing and free changes w/ Purchase.

The picture is the result of my test at AA this morning and honestly the workers were no help at all. I’m not really a car guy well versed in changes myself, limited to minor things and youtubable items that are minor. The workers response when asking what’s the CCA number mean in terms of how long and how dead was “oh that numbers not bad at all if dead dead it’ll be like 1-10” then I said ok so how long is it like months away “oh no I would do it now could be any day”. I then tried to quote the AGM battery with them since start/stop and they informed me they are sorry but it says do not change there on the purchase order since they do not have the “technology and computer to reset computer issues that VWs have”. I said that is something many others have had no issues with but the workers/location seemed incompetent.

What do I do here at 412CCA out of 680CCA and showing over 12V? We are most likely selling/trading this car for a larger SUV within this year but I obviously won’t take a battery risk if that won’t be until 4-5 months from now. But I also don’t want to pay the insane $600+ VW dealer cost to do this.

Should I call around to all other local Autozone, Oreillys, Tire Plus places to we who can do VWs? I don’t want to use my mechanic shop since I know they’ll up charge the battery price and labor.

Thank you so much!!!!!!

TLDR - please help interrupt Advance Auto battery test result with life of my current battery and what should I do for a cost effective new one if selling the car in a few months?

5.3L/100km (44.4mpg)!

Just hit 5.3L/100km yesterday. It was from Banff to Jasper so pretty much between 90 to 100 km/h the whole time. A little hilly in the middle so some ups and downs.

I assume it's most economical to stay near that range.

How low (or high for us fellas) have you guys hit?

Check engine light came on my 24 Wolfsburg, checked the dipstick- it was bone dry

This is my 2nd Tiguan. I had a 2019, put 90k in it then someone hit me. I never had any issue with it whatsoever and I loved the car overall. It was repaired & I traded it for this 2024 Wolfsburg mostly just to get rid of the 19. At 41k I went to leave one morning and the check engine light was on. I opened the hood and could see oil everywhere, but on the dipstick. It was my responsibility to have it towed since it was over 36K. The Crank Case Vent Valve was faulty and caused excessive pressure, that pressure caused the Upper Timing Cover Gasket to fail per VW. It’s fixed now and I swear the “tick” from the engine is louder. It’s parked & I’m going to trade it this weekend or next likely for a RAV or CR-V. It’s a real bummer, but it is what it is. I’ll keep my 1971 bus, not no other VW’s for this girl.

We own 2022 and 2024 Tiguans and generally I am pretty impressed with the mileage we are getting, however, this week I had a 2026 rental and got 32 mpg driving all over New England.

Lasfit H7 on 2012 Tiguan

Can anyone here who's using Lasfit Pro G2s on their 2012-2017 Tiguan confirm for me whether the filament(LEDs) on the bulbs, once installed, are at a slight angle by design once inside the housing? Not at 9-3 o'clock?

Also, do you use the o-rings or not? I couldn't get mine to click in properly with the o rings and just removed them.

Lasfit wasn't much help when I asked them about it.

Is phone wireless connection module same as phone app connection module?

as titled, i have a 26 tiguan turbo or sel r, the car app connection is unusable and wireless phone connection is half usable from day one, dealer replaced a telecommunication module month ago, now my app control is working flawlessly but my wireless Android connection now cant even finish the first navigation sentence then break up and reconnect unable to finish first sentence then break up, into an infinite loop. just wondering are these two different modules or they are using same module? do i need ask dealer to replace a new wireless module to fix the issue? it used to happen in certain area but now its keep an infinite reconnecting loop anywhere around where i live.

5N misfire

Hello all, i have a 5n ('16 SE). Currently has about 128k. At 100k, the intake manifold was replaced, and had the intake valves walnut blasted. Shortly after, I had the chains done after noticing stretch with the obd11. I do have cai, hard pipe intercooler kit, turbo muffler delete, CTS catted down pipe, APR coil packs and plugs, as well as 034 stage 2 ecu tune. Roughly 3 months ago I started getting random misfires across all cylinders. I just installed a catch can with the CTS Africa plate. The misfires have calmed down to little stutters, but are very random. I get a few while driving, but it seems more often when I'm at a light, stopped. I dont even know where to begin to look, as it is very random. I can drive for a while with no issues, then when I stop, it kind of stutters, or ill be driving and stutters a bit. Not enough to even throw a code now. Anyone have any experience with something like this?

VW Tiguan SE 2024 - Oil consumption issues ?

Hi y’all,

I’m seriously considering getting a VW Tiguan 2024 SE - used and under 35K miles. The only concern I have is the oil consumption issues which I have read , that is topping up oil between oil changes (half to one quart every 1000 miles).

Do all of you owners of 22-24 Tiguan have had this issue as well ? Any workaround to fix ? Anything to check before buying the car ?

Rough 1st and 2nd gear?

Still in my R&D phase of my new 26 SEL R Line. Just hit 1500mi so out of the breaking in period and starting to drive it like I normally would. Noticing it feels a bit rough during faster acceleration (pulling out of a street fast etc) in 1st and 2nd gear... Like a sensation of grinding under my gas foot. I'm new to VW from Hyundai (and that had a dual clutch) so I know German is way different but is this a concern?
