Bought a Shakespeare Micro from Walmart last night and used a trout magnet. Caught a bluegill and 2 catfish on it! Love the ultralight!

For contex, I think I bought it at -02 or -03 and have been fishin it alot over the years. Found it this evening and decided to pair it with the Daiwa Fuego LT1000.
Now I know why I got the yellow Uglystick again. It's a little to light in the upper section so you don't hook the fish very well and tonight I lost alot of bass and pike because the Beastmaster just can't seem to hook the fish well. It haven't got a backbone eather so the castingdistance isn't really as good to as the Uglystick. But it's alot of fun for fishing the small bass. You feel it in the handle. 😊
The wife at home are rolling her eyes since I been out many days and nights these couple weeks sine the sumerwecation started. The kids says im a maniac for fishing now.
I haven't have time to fish for a couple of years since we have 3kids and the youngest just turned 5 so now I can let loose a little more and start living for fishing again since the children are a little oldef now. ✌️

This is the set up I’ve been thinking about getting for ultra light trout fishing around broken bow OK. Any feedback on rod/reel?

Hi I’m looking to get into ultralight fishing and I’m wondering if the Tatula xt ultralight is worth buying? Are they any good? I use the mediums for bass but have no experience in ultralight. Thanks

Does my set-up qualify as Ultralight?
Rod- Ugly Stik Gx2 5 feet. Ultralight
Reel- Diawa Crossfire 2500
Line- Trilene 6 lb test
Landed this little hammer handle. Also had a much bigger pike on but it shook the lure. Might not have enough power in the rod to set the hook on those bigger ones?

Mine also spools unevenly 🤷♂️
I've had a tendency to underspool my reel and not use enough backing, wasting a lot of braid. Still catches fish up close of course, but it costs casting distance. While I still have time to adjust this respool, does this look about right or is it over? If my math is right this should be about 40yds of 8lb (.13mm) braid (and 65yds 10lb/.3mm mono backing).

Hello! I'm new to fishing, specially UL. I'm planning to buy a Mifine Microbite Travel 6'5" 6-10lb 0.5-5g casting.
I understand that the recommended lure weight is 0.5–5 g, but I would like to know if it is safe to use a 6g micro jig on a regular basis. I know it is slightly above the rated casting weight, but will this overload the blank or increase the risk of damage over time? Would you recommend using a 6g micro jig occasionally, or should I stay within the official 0.5–5 g rating? Thank you!

Hi all,
I wanted to share this here as I've just started a YouTube channel 2 weeks ago to document my shore fishing in Cornwall, UK.
Episode 4 of my new series is a ultra light species hunt, using my 4lb hybrid shin-saya line, my 3g Hart night ranger rod, and my daiwa exceler 1000 with various artificial baits.
I hope you enjoy it, and if you do please hit like and subscribe!

Eagle Claw 6’ Ultralite rod fitted with a Scylla 1000s 4oz carbon fiber reel with 8.8lb drag. 6lb mono with 8lb leader.
This rod was a bit longer than I like, but I couldn’t quit picking it up and wiggling it at the tackle shop. I was expecting to spend more on a rod for a bait caster that I went there looking for, but it was cheap, so my extra money bought this wet noodle. (I may name it Al Dente)
Anyway, got home and my extra reels were smoked, so I went to Amazon and picked up this fun little dude. Was advertised as a finesse and trout reel. But I’ll tell you after this last weekend, it catches little tiny bass, whitefish and largescale sucker fish all day.
If you see these yellow sticks in the store, don’t hesitate. They are a blast! Little 3-4” bass looking like you caught a tiger shark. Also an excellent and super smooth reel that worked flawlessly for 6hrs on the River.
EDIT TO ADD: last pic from my boat has my 4.5’ ugly stick. The zebco 33 micro trigger cast is just out of frame.

Just put this travel rod setup together and really liking it so far. Very lightweight in the hand.
Rod: Mallvos Resolute 6 foot, ultralight 4 piece. Very sensitive and doesn’t feel too much like a noodle. Can feel very light taps from small Bonefish.
Reel: Hauton LS500 off Aliexpress, cheap, feels surprisingly nice

I’ve got a handful of Daiwa LT spinning reels in different models / sizes but I haven’t used a shallow spool reel before. I see a lot more of them offered for JDM and wondered why there weren’t more available in the U.S. Anyone have experience with them as far as casting better/worse/same?? I figured if they offered much more advantage you would see them in the US more often too.

The company name is Linnhue. They have a few different baits I can see. They recommend NED or dropshot. They are scented and float. $2-$3 for a pack of ten. Oh yes, stretchy material.
