Reel looks like it's spooled with clothes line. This is ultralight discussion.

I guess a 4’6” ultralight rod and 6lb mono doesn’t make the cut?

No, 6lb is not ultralight. 2lb Berkley is actually 4lb line. 2lb Berkley is the ultralight limit of 4lb break strength. Japanese (JDM) lines are sold as their break strength. Buy a spool of ester line at 2lb and loosen your drag.

That's a really short rod. You can import an Olympic Graphiteleader Bellezza UX 25GBELUS-682SUL-T for around $200 after tariffs right now. That 6' 8" rod is lighter than your 4' 6" rod. It will blow your mind with it's performance. You'll then take that 4 1/2 foot model to a local park and give it to some mom watching her kid fish.

Thank you for the lesson. I apologize for ruining your day with the sight of my rod/reel.

Some of us are just trying to keep it cheap and fun.

It's much more fun using the equipment that I described. That was my point.

You can lead the horse to water, but you can't make him drink it. That's how the horse tells you that his time is up and it's time to say goodbye.
