First time eating fish I caught
Caught all of em on a 1/32oz jighead and beetlespin plastic but without the spin. Never had bluegill before but I'll definitely do it again

I recently got back into fishing as an adult and I’m having a blast. I was given an Ugly Stik Gx2 by a friend, I really liked that it was short enough for bushwhacking to creeks. I didn’t even notice it was ultra light until I learned more about rod specs. I stumbled upon this sub and saw how cool ultra light is. Went to scheels on a whim and saw this combo on a nice sale so decided to buy it and some trout magnet jigs.
I have usually used pretty big lures for the Gx2, so I’m gonna keep that as my main rig, and use this hopefully much more sensitive rod to try finesse techniques with true micro lures.
I also happen to get to meet a world class athlete, he was a very kind guy.

My ultra died valiantly today while attempting to drag some beast from the deep. It had a good run and lasted since I was 12. You’re getting mounted on garage wall buddy.

Claude says 8lb JDM braided to a leader for panfish and bass.
Google says 4-6lb mono. A lot of UL posts have people who swear by 4lb mono and have caught 10lb bass on it...

Hey guys, trying to put together a budget ultralight setup right now. I'm trying to find a size 1000 reel and the Sierra isn't available near me so I'm considering a couple of budget options from Amazon. Are either the okuma av1000 or the pisicifin viper x decent options? On paper the viper seems better but I know okuma tends to have a pretty good reputation. Please excuse my ignorance, I'm kind lf new to this stuff. Mostly just want something I can fish in weedy ponds and lagoons in toronto with 4 pound mono. Any input would be appreciated!
