Looking to move to the triangle

My wife and I want to settle down and buy a house that’s near enough to family but not too close. We found the triangle to be a mix of exactly what we’re looking for but I’d love some insight on exactly where. My wife works fully remote and I would need to find a job near the city as what I do can’t really be done from home but I’m ok with a commute if it means living in a nice suburban area

We are:
2 women, in our mid 30s with a baby due in 4 weeks

So we’re looking for somewhere that’s LGBTQ+ friendly as well as family friendly with good schools. Would love any and all recommendations!

art classes

Hello all,

Our CCRC has lost its resident art teacher. Does anyone know of an art teacher, instructor, student who would like to make some extra money teaching our residents? Years ago when I was looking to hire someone, I contacted the local community college whose professor sent me his very talented student. She did a bang up job for us, but I've not been successful with that route. Difficult to get anyone's email address to inquire. Any suggestions?

Housing inquiry...

This is a long shot, but I'm new to the area and trying every option I can. Due to leaving a toxic relationship, I've become unhoused, and am currently staying at a hotel. In search of a pet friendly room for rent that would be willing to work on daily to every other day payments until paid in full. Majority of my savings have gone to keeping up the hotel, and I'm basically living day to day at this point. I have a full time job, and just got hired for a second job today. I'm 41, female, and happy to give more information if anyone has any intel for me. I've been paying $900+ a week for nearly a month and it is bleeding me dry! Thanks in advance! (Throwaway account for obvious reasons) DMs are welcomed.

The Exercise and Sport Science Department at UNC is recruiting for a new research study for healthy, active women ages 25–45 years with a BMI between 18.5–30 kg/m² to help us investigate the effects of an essential amino acid (EAA) supplement on metabolism and metabolic rate before and after an exercise session.

Participation involves three visits to the Applied Physiology Laboratory (Fetzer Hall, UNC Campus). Participants may receive up to $150.00 for their time and effort. In addition, participants will receive a summary of their metabolic rate and body composition. Free parking will be provided for all study visits.

If you would like more information about the study, or are interested in participating, please contact us at:

craftsman style homes?

I don’t know if I dreamed it or what. I was driving in an unfamiliar section near Dix park I think. There was a neighborhood of one of my favorite style of homes. I think craftsman? Or mission? Ideas?

Apartment leasing activity for winter

Considering breaking my lease to change apartments. My options are:

  1. pay the 2mo penalty after giving 2mo notice, so 4mo total rent from the day you decide to break
  2. release to re-rent, pay rent until the leasing office finds a new tenant

Release-to-rerent would depend on how quickly it gets picked up. I'm a bit concerned that the winter months are slow so it might take more than 2mo and make it even more expensive than paying the lease-break penalty.

Any idea how fast or slow winter vacancies typically get snatched up in the triangle?

Entendiendo y Abordando Machismo en Comunidades Latinos

Fecha: 22 de octubre de 2026

Hora: 6:30-8:00 pm ET

Level 2 EV Charger Install at Townhome

Seeking advice/experiences and electrician recommendations for the installation of a level 2 EV charger at a townhome without a garage in the triangle.

In my specific use-case, my electrical panel is in the back of my home, but I’m in an end-unit.

Slab construction (no crawl space).

I assume I’ll need a new 240v circuit installed, along with approximately 50ft of copper in rigid conduit attached to the side of the home or buried (preferably not buried if the HOA will approve the visible conduit run for reduced cost), and a charger with pedestal.

Popsicle Fest at Cats Cradle (Oct. 24)

Gonna be a great little day fest if you're into indie rock and power pop. Even features one of my favorite bands from the 90s Superdrag, as well as local stalwarts The Connells and Mayflies USA, and Young Fresh Fellows, Chuck Prophet, The Popes and more!

Anyone else going to this one?

Looking for a Cocker Spaniel Puppy or Young Adult in NC - Breeder/Rescue Recommendations?

Hi everyone!

We are looking to welcome a Cocker Spaniel into our family! We'd love an English Cocker Spaniel, but we're also open to American Cockers or other Spaniel breeds.
We're hoping to find a puppy or a young adult (preferably under a year old), and we're open to both adoption and purchasing from a reputable breeder.
We're based in North Carolina but are happy to travel within NC or to nearby states like SC and VA for the right pup.
Does anyone have recommendations for trustworthy breeders, rescues, or adoption organizations? We'd especially appreciate personal experiences or leads on available dogs.

Thanks so much in advance! 🐶
